Dallas Cowboys urged to trade for Pro Bowl cornerback

The Dallas Cowboys have plenty of cap space ahead of next week’s 2026 NFL Draft. While the Cowboys have the 12th overall and 20th picks in the first round, they also have a lot of needs, especially on a defense that gave up the NFL’s most points a season ago.

Many draft analysts predict the Cowboys will double up on defensive prospects by focusing both of their first-round selections on that side of the ball. Others believe a trade could be in the works for one of the draft’s best defensive prospects.

If the Cowboys package their first-round selection together to acquire a top prospect, Dallas may have to get creative to address other needs on their roster. This may involve another trade involving a proven professional rather than more novices.

Recently, Albert Breuer’s Sports Illustrated There have been suggestions that the Cowboys are a team the Indianapolis Colts could look at as they look for a trade partner for cornerback Kenny Moore. The two sides recently agreed to seek a trade this offseason, and that process could yield results at some point during the upcoming three-day draft event.

Breyer believes Moore could be available for the equivalent of a third-day draft pick. If so, the Cowboys could get the former Pro Bowl cornerback at a fraction of the normal cost.

“As for potential landing spots, I think Dallas would be one, with Nickell being a key part of new coordinator Christian Parker’s defense and the Cowboys having a hole last year after Jordan Lewis went to the Jaguars. The Vikings are another potential fit. Teams being in the NFC should also make them potential contenders, assuming Indy doesn’t help a conference rival. Moore, who will turn 31 in August, has a contract He’s in the year, so he’s got some value. But if the price was at a higher level, and I had a need like Dallas, I would probably do that.”

Cornerback is one of the positions commonly targeted by Cowboys mock drafts. Still, with this trade, Dallas may not feel as much urgency to address the position at the top of the draft and may feel more comfortable circling back to upgrade the secondary later in the selection process.

If Moore can indeed be a third-day draft selection, we would imagine he would generate a lot of interest. After all, teams, especially contenders, can never have too many capable cornerbacks.

Seattle Seahawks sign former first-round cornerback

The Seattle Seahawks may have won the Super Bowl last season, but that doesn’t mean anything anymore. Once the 2026 NFL season begins, every team will be in the same spot, without wins and losses. But the offseason is where championship teams are made, and Seahawks general manager John Schneider is doing his best to put Seattle in position to repeat.

The Seahawks have their work cut out for them. They’ve already lost offensive coordinator Clint Kubiak to the Raiders. Other losses, such as the signing of starting cornerback Rick Woolen with the Eagles, would lead to roster changes. On Tuesday, the Seahawks may have found their replacement for Woolen.

According to ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Seahawks have signed cornerback Noah Igbinoghene to the roster. No contract details provided.

Still, the Seahawks are getting a 26-year-old former first-round pick in Igbinoghene, the 30th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He spent the first three seasons of his career as a member of the Dolphins before being traded to the Cowboys. Once he reached free agency for the first time, Igbinoghene signed with the Commanders, where he has spent the last two seasons.

Interestingly, Igbinoghene has only started 17 of his 69 appearances in the NFL. Clearly, Seahawks head coach Mike McDonald sees something interesting in the 5-foot-11, 197-pound cornerback.

Igbinoghene made two starts in 15 appearances at Washington last season, recording 35 tackles (1 TFL), five pass deflections and one sack. He has recorded one interception in his NFL career, which came in 2022. He will definitely try to get more opportunities in Seattle.

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback retires from NFL after standout career

Cornerback Darius Slay announced his retirement from professional football today. Over the course of more than a decade in the league, Slay built a career as a shutdown corner, a vocal leader, and a player whose personality matched his elite on-field production. He played for the Detroit Lions, Philadelphia Eagles, and Pittsburgh Steelers during his 13-year career. Slay made six Pro Bowl appearances, one All-Pro, and one Super Bowl victory.

Slay’s professional career began when the Lions selected him 36th overall in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He would play in Detroit from 2013 to 2019. His breakout came in 2017, when he led the NFL in interceptions and earned first-team All-Pro honors. In this time frame, he earned the nickname Big Play Slay. By the end of his tenure with the Lions, Slay had firmly established himself as an elite, shutdown corner and attracted the attention of the Eagles.

Entering the 2020 season, Slay’s career changed for the better. He was traded to the Eagles for several mid-round draft picks. Slay quickly adapted to the Philadelphia culture and became a leader on the field and a respected voice in the locker room. He and fellow corner James Bradberry helped transform the Eagles’ secondary from mediocre to elite, and within two years, Philly was in the Super Bowl.

Although they lost this Super Bowl, the Eagles came back in a short time. Slay’s greatest legacy may be teaching Cooper Dejean and Quinyon Mitchell. Both were taken in the 2024 draft and became undrafted high-impact rookies.

Slay played a big role in his development and led the Eagles to a defense that was top 5 in the league. The revamped secondary led Philly to a Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. The impact of his tutelage is still felt today, with Mitchell and Dejean widely regarded as elite defensive players, providing a ton of surplus value on their rookie contracts.

Unfortunately, due to cap reasons, Slay would be released from Philly and sent to Pittsburgh for his last season in the league. He started 9 games for the Steelers this season, and contributed in the playoffs as part of an experienced defense.
