Reporter predicts which Kansas City Royals star is dealt

The Kansas City Royals enter the 2026 season with aspirations of competing for a playoff spot. Now more than 25 games into the season, they are tied for the second-worst record in the American League and seem destined to be sellers at the MLB trade deadline.

Examining the team situation, MLB insider Robert Murray shared his belief that All-Star pitcher Chris Bubick will be traded by the Royals this summer.

“The Royals are struggling. Bubic is in the final season of his contract. All the ingredients for a potential deadline trade. Bubic’s track record will appeal to teams. A left-hander, he posted a 2.67 ERA in 27 games in 2024. He posted a 2.55 ERA in 20 starts last season. His numbers have declined slightly this season, with a 4.08 ERA in five starts, but he’s allowing less Has hits (six hits per nine innings) and slightly more strikeouts per nine innings (9.1 this season; 9 last season). If the Royals’ decline continues, Bubic is almost certain to be traded.

Robert Murray on whether the Kansas City Royals will trade Kris Bubic

  • Chris Bubic contract (Spotrac): $6.15 million salary in 2026, MLB free agent in 2026-27

Bubic, who won’t turn 29 until Aug. 19, earned his first All-Star selection with Kansas City last season. The 6-foot-3 southpaw excelled on the mound in 2025, posting a 2.55 ERA with a 24.4 percent strikeout rate and holding opponents to a .227 batting average in 116.1 innings.

He only pitched 146.2 innings over the past two seasons, but he compiled a 2.58 ERA with a 155-44 K-BB ratio and 7.6 H/9 during that span. In five starts this season, he posted a career-best 6.0 H/9 with a strikeout rate of 25.7 percent. However, he has a 4.08 ERA in 28.2 innings, in which he has allowed more than four runs in a pair of starts.

It seems unlikely that Kansas City will be able to work out a new deal with Bubic this off-season, with the California native set to cash in on MLB free agency this winter. So, barring a dramatic turnaround, it’s reasonable to think Bubic will be one of the starting pitchers moved ahead of the MLB trade deadline.

“Tough times” – Chelsea star on team-mate’s injury, another Blues man dealt fresh blow

Philip Jorgensen
Warsaw, Poland – April 10, 2025: UEFA Europa Conference League Quarter-Final, Legia Warszawa vs Chelsea FC 0:3 Op: Philip Jorgensen of Chelsea FC

chelsea Goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen suffered a groin injury in March and has been on the sidelines since then.

The 23-year-old has been second-choice at Chelsea behind Robert Sanchez.

Before his failure, Liam Rosenior had made his debut in the league win over Aston Villa and the 5–2 Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in March.

With Celtic star Kasper Schmeichel out for the season, the 23-year-old got his chance to start for Denmark in the March international break. However, this setback also meant that he could not represent the national team.

Denmark manager Brian Reimer had Confirmed After Stomper’s scan he got a shock.

Chelsea close to star Jorgensen

Joao Pedro arrived at Stamford Bridge from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer. He has given an interview to Viaplay and bold Philip Jorgensen has released his comments.

The Blues star has developed a close relationship with the goalkeeper in his debut season and he now talks about his groin injury.

“He is going through a tough time at the moment because he has been injured. So, we are trying to help him. He is a really good guy, and he is very professional both on and off the field. He tries to help everyone,” He said.

“We are very close because our girlfriends also try to hang out together. Off the field, we are always joking with each other. So, we are very close.”

Jorgensen joined Chelsea in August 2024 after spending seven years at Villarreal and has made 34 appearances so far. It covers 10 matches this season and his Premier League statistics are as follows:

  • Appearances: 3
  • Start: 2
  • Total minutes: 264
  • Clean sheets: 0
  • Goals accepted: 4

Chelsea loanee suffers latest blow

Chelsea cut short Aaron Anselmino’s loan stay at Borussia Dortmund and sent him on loan to RC Strasbourg in the winter market. The 20-year-old Argentinian has played 15 minutes in three matches for the French club.

A hamstring injury kept him out of action for more than a month in February. Last weekend, the Blues man returned to the field in Strasbourg’s 3-1 win over OGC Nice.

Team Now reports are that he has suffered a fresh setback, forcing him to spend more time away from the field. Strasbourg manager Gary O’Neill has confirmed the latest injury.

“This time it is the other hamstring, he will have to undergo tests to determine the severity of the injury,” He said.

What do these injuries mean for Chelsea?

The Premier League side will be waiting for Filip Jorgensen to return soon and make himself available for selection.

Aaron Anselmino’s latest injury will have no impact on Chelsea this season, but his repeated failures will certainly be a concern for them.

The Maple Leafs dominate the NHL trade board with 13 candidates who could be dealt

Th-th- That’s all friends. The Toronto Maple Leafs have shown us who they are in three miserable performances after the Olympic break. They are in last place again in the Atlantic Division, going 14–5 in three losses to the Panthers, Lightning and Senators.

That three-game winning streak going on hiatus? A distant memory. Coincidentally, the same can be said about their nine-year playoff appearance streak. They remain eight points behind the wild card. According to MoneyPuck, Toronto only has a 1.2% chance of making the postseason dance. That’s (marginally) better than only five other teams: the Devils, Blackhawks, Blues, Rangers and Canucks.

The Leafs can now focus on doing what needs to be done – selling almost anything over the next six days, not limited to Friday’s trade deadline. With the barren state of their property cupboards, they need to re-stock big time.

More than a dozen Leafs are now on the trade block

Insider Elliotte Friedman said on Hockey Night in Canada Saturday night that almost everyone is at the table…well, About Everyone.

The buzz now about the Maple Leafs is that they will expand the scope of what they will consider. Now, I don’t think it’s (Auston) Matthews or (William) Nylander or anything like that. But like I said, the buzz around them is that they’re expanding their ideas about what they can consider. They’re talking a little more about term players.

In other words, it’s not just pending unrestricted free agents like Bobby McMann and Scott Lawton. In fact, there are at least 13 leaves on the Daily Faceoff’s latest trade board. According to Matt Larkin, the list looks like this, in order of trade possibility:

  • Bobby McMann
  • simon benoit
  • Scott Laughton
  • brandon carlo
  • Jarnkrok Street
  • Oliver Ekman-Larsen
  • nick robertson
  • max domi
  • Matthias Maccelli
  • Anthony Stolarz
  • nicholas roy
  • Morgan Reilly
  • troy stitcher

Reilly, with his no-move clause and $7.5M AAV, appears to be more of an offseason discussion. All of those names have very reasonable cap hits and could be easily moved.

Are there any leaves there? Will not done be dealt with?

Perhaps it would have been easier to list players who are not expected to be dealt. If we go by the daily faceoff table, those names will be as follows:

  • auston matthews
  • William Nylander
  • Matthew Neese
  • John Tavares
  • Easton Cowan
  • Jake McCabe
  • chris tanev
  • dakota joshua
  • Joseph Voll
  • dennis hildeby

The list seems long, but the fact is that all but four of them have no-move or no-trade clauses. Additionally, in the cases of Tanev and Joshua, injury concerns would deter any potentially interested parties. There are also reports circulating that Woll is actually the more likely candidate to move among the goaltenders, as his trade value is much higher than Stolarz at this point.

All hands on deck, as the good ship the Maple Leaf is on a arduous voyage over the next six days. Perhaps even more difficult than the five months before this.
