Los Angeles Lakers center and former top draft pick Deandre Ayton was taken into custody on Tuesday on marijuana possession charges. According to reports, Ayton attempted to board a Bahamas airport while carrying Medicine.
“Feb 17 (Reuters) – Los Angeles Lakers center Deandre Ayton was detained at Lyndon Pindling International Airport in the Bahamas on Tuesday on suspicion of possessing a small amount of marijuana, his lawyer and two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters,” Reuters’ Jasper Williams-Ward, formerly of the X, reported on Twitter.
Ayton is in his first season with the Lakers, his third stop in an eight-year NBA career.
