In it, Wade can be seen hitting and sinking a no-look jumper with almost overconfidence before casually strolling over and patting several team members. Wade is part of a star-studded NBA on Prime roster that also includes Blake Griffin, Dirk Nowitzki, Udonis Haslem, Steve Nash and Candace Parker.

Oklahoma City is eager to defend its championship, but that won’t be the case for NBA legend Dwyane Wade, as he predicted on “The Zach Lowe Show” that the San Antonio Spurs and Detroit Pistons will face off in this year’s NBA Finals.

“I’ve watched the Spurs, I’ve watched some of their games. Even though I don’t think they should be ready, they should be a team over the next three years, but they do things sometimes. You look at their roster, you look at their players, with the right matchups, they’ll be tough to beat,” Wade said.

The Thunder have lost three times in four meetings with the Spurs this season, including the NBA Cup semifinals, in which San Antonio ended OKC’s 16-game winning streak.

As for the Pistons, Wade, who works as an analyst for NBC and Prime, said their depth will carry them to the final round.

“I watched Detroit the other night in New York without (Jalen) Duren and without (Isaiah) Stewart, and I didn’t see them lose once. I said, ‘This team is too deep.’ They know their style, they know their game, they know how to win. It’s hard when a team doesn’t have to figure it out,” the three-time champion explained.

The Thunder lost to the Pistons on Wednesday, although they were significantly weaker without Gilgeous-Alexander, Williams, Chet Holmgren, Isaiah Hartenstein and Ajay Mitchell.

Oklahoma City will have another tough test on Friday against the Denver Nuggets.

“Where Pat was great was his attention to detail. That’s something I try to pride myself on, even now… A lot of times, as a player, your mind, your emotions, your anxiety are all over the place. You make some mistakes, and you start thinking too much. He was a cool guy. Whenever I went over to him during the game, he would put his hand on me and give me a calm feeling and reset me.”

Speaking about Shaq, he talked about his defensive ability and the mentor role that O’Neal played in his early career en route to his first championship.

“He showed me tricks. He showed me how to be a superstar on and off the court. He even gave me the nickname “Flash.” He sat down and talked to me about authenticity and making sure my DNA was in everything I did. It changed the way I went into meetings, it changed my brand and the way I thought about myself.

And as for Udonis Haslem, whom Wade often praises when talking about his Heat tenure, he talked about his ability as a leader and his respect for his voice.

“UD was never one of the top guys when it came to stardom, but he still had the loudest voice in the locker room. When he talked, everyone listened because we knew it wasn’t coming from a selfish place at all. It was coming from a guy who would give everything in his body for you in any game. He’d take penalties for you. He was making the least money as an undrafted guy, but he cared. No. He made sure everyone in the locker room followed the rules, even when LeBron James and Chris Bosh came in.

This article was less about the chemistry on the court and more about his unique experience with these locker room leaders. But Wade has spoken highly of James in other places, and James has spoken candidly about how his partnership with Wade was important to his career.

In comments received after Wade and James’ final game against each other in December 2018, LeBron talked about Wade and their successful pairing.

“I personally think I would have been a lot more successful in this league without D-Wade,” LeBron said. “But I really needed him to accomplish what I wanted to accomplish in this league, and that is to win at the highest level. And that’s when I made the jump, and what he did for me when I went to Miami, I appreciate more than I can express in words. You have to think about how I spent the first 25 years of my life in Akron, Ohio. I spent 18 years in high school, and then the first seven years of my professional career I’m still “I was living in Akron, Ohio, so that’s all I knew.”

Although Pat Riley is best known for his impressive tenure as coach of the Lakers, he is equally synonymous with the success of the Miami Heat. Recently, the Lakers unveiled a statue honoring Riley’s contributions to the organization. During a sit-down conversation in Wade’s presence in Los Angeles on Sunday, Riley paid tribute to Wade for his career with Miami.

“He came in as a rookie… He was great. He was talented. He was talented… I’ve never seen a young guy work harder than Dwyane Wade to become one of the greatest players. Certainly the greatest player in Miami Heat history.”

Wade certainly earned the title of the greatest player in Heat history. He played with the organization from 2003 to 2016 before playing for the Bulls and Cavaliers. He then returned in 2018 and played with the team until his retirement in 2019. In that time, Wade won three NBA championships with the team, including his stellar performance in the 2006 NBA Finals. In the Heat’s historic comeback against the Mavericks, he averaged 34.7 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists. He scored 40 points twice in that series: 42 points in Game 3 and 43 points in Game 4.

His greatness continued into the Big Three era, providing a high-powered tandem with LeBron James that ultimately won two more championships for the organization. However, the league is apparently still open to suggestions about how to improve the event going forward, and recently, NBA legend Dwyane Wade offered an interesting idea for the future of the game.

“I don’t think we should stop and do this [NBA] No more mid-season All-Star Game. …I look at it like the Pro Bowl. … The All-Star Game should be a journey … an experience for the guys who make it,” Wade said, according to the Y Network by Dwyane Wade, ex, formerly on Twitter.

Indeed, the NFL Pro Bowl game takes place after the regular season and the first three rounds of the playoffs have already been completed, which could theoretically attract more attention.

However, that game has also been the subject of extreme criticism, the league has recently changed the format to flag football, and a large number of star players are opting out of the event each year, so it may not be the best reference point to use for improving the NBA’s version of the game.

This year, San Antonio Spurs young star Victor Wembanyama set the tone early in the All-Star Game with his effort level, and most of the other players seemed to follow suit, resulting in three straight game losses before the finals quickly turned into a blowout.

Overall, while it wasn’t perfect, it was definitely a step in the right direction for the NBA All-Star celebration.
