Nevada lawmakers make feelings clear on potential Las Vegas expansion

Momentum continues around potential NBA expansion and Nevada lawmakers have made their stance clear in support of bringing a franchise to Las Vegas.

According to a report from FOX5 Vegas’ Rachel Zalucki, Nevada’s congressional delegation sent a letter to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver urging the league to choose Las Vegas as an expansion destination. The letter, dated March 19, 2026, was signed by Senators Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen, as well as Representatives Dina Titus, Mark Amodei, Susie Lee and Steven Horsford.

“The March 19, 2026 letter was signed by Senators Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen, as well as Representatives Dina Titus, Mark Amodei, Susie Lee and Steven Horsford. The lawmakers urged Silver to consider Las Vegas’ 20-year partnership with the NBA through hosting Summer League and NBA Cup championships.”

The letter reads in part, “As you consider the future of the NBA, we urge you to build on the league’s local momentum by selecting Las Vegas as a site for a future league franchise.”

Las Vegas has emerged along with Seattle as one of the leading candidates for expansion as the NBA prepares for next week’s Board of Governors meeting, where an initial vote on expansion is expected.

Las Vegas’ sports success and NBA ties strengthen the case for expansion

In their letter, the lawmakers also pointed to the city’s success with other professional sports franchises as evidence of its readiness for an NBA team. He highlighted the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces, a three-time championship-winning franchise, and the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights, which won the Stanley Cup in 2023.

Las Vegas has also maintained a long-standing relationship with the NBA, hosting the Summer League each year and serving as a site for recent NBA Cup championship events.

As expansion discussions continue, the league is considering both market feasibility and long-term growth opportunities. The unified effort by Nevada lawmakers underscores growing support for Las Vegas as the NBA evaluates its next step.

Michael Porter Jr. reveals feelings on tanking during ‘different’ season with Brooklyn

Michael Porter Jr. broke his podcast hiatus last week. When asked about the No. 1 rule change he’d like to see the NBA make, the Brooklyn Nets forward pointed to the league’s tanking pandemic.

Porter said on The Emily Austin Show, “They have to do something about this tanking situation. I don’t like that teams are intentionally trying to tank just to get a good draft pick.” “I think ruining the entire NBA season is no way to go. It’s not very ethical for the game. People pay a lot of money to see the best players in the world compete, and you want to see teams compete to their full potential every night, and when teams keep doing the same things they’re doing these days, it can be tough… I understand rebuilding teams, but I think there’s an ethical way to do it and a non-ethical way to do it. So hopefully that “They can change it, I just feel like the best players are on the field every night.”

After several intense playoff runs with the Denver Nuggets, Porter is experiencing his first rebuild this season.

Tanking has been the most talked about problem around the NBA over the past few months. The Nets are one of the third players in the league to have the top pick in the 2026 draft.

The decline in quality of play during the final months of the season has been a topic of discussion for years. However, the issue became acute as the trade deadline began this year.

The outcry from fans, media, and others led Adam Silver and the league office to predict significant rule changes the following season.

“We’re going to make substantial changes for next year,” Silver told Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic, speaking on a panel at the Sloan Sports Analytics Conference. “I think that’s where I’m at – at one extreme, you could completely separate the draft from teams’ records. Just make the argument that we could take all 30 teams regardless of the outcome, which would completely discourage tanking. You could win the finals, you know, and get the first pick. But then there’s also gradation.”

Kendrick Perkins makes Boston’s feelings clear amid Jayson Tatum’s expected return

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum may be close to making his return to the lineup, and former Celtics center Kendrick Perkins believes the rest of the league should take notice.

Tatum was upgraded to questionable ahead of Boston’s Friday matchup against the Dallas Mavericks, the first time he has earned that designation this season since suffering an Achilles injury last year. The development has sparked renewed discussion about Boston’s championship outlook as the forward moves into the final stages of his recovery.

Perkins addressed Tatum’s potential return during the latest episode of The Road Trippin’ Show, explaining that he believes Boston becomes significantly more dangerous once the All-Star forward re-enters the rotation.

“If you hear Tatum coming back you have to be scared. They’re playing with house money. They have the most championship experience in the Eastern Conference. If I’m Tatum, and these five-on-fives are going well, damn it, I’m coming back. Because look every player is different. I’m not blaming it on the players, but as we all know as athletes when you get injured, as a player you “Being aware of who you are, accountability and what you do and what you put into your body speeds up the healing process.”

Perkins also shared details he said came from Celtics assistant coach Sam Cassell regarding Tatum’s approach to rehab.

“There are two things I know about Jason Tatum: He doesn’t smoke and he doesn’t drink. Sam Cassel told me during this whole process that they literally had to tell him no, you can’t come today. Give us Sunday off. We’ve been with you six days a week, twice a day. You can’t come today.”

Celtics call Jayson Tatum ‘most dangerous team’ as he nears return

Perkins concluded by emphasizing how motivated Tatum could be to see Boston continue to compete near the top of the Eastern Conference standings.

“This team feels like they can go and they’ve got a chance. It’s unexpected when you have that window. Jayson Tatum is on the outside looking in, he’s eager to get back on the floor. They’re the most dangerous team in the league.”

Tatum finished the 2024–25 season averaging 26.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, six assists and 1.1 steals per game, while shooting 45.2% from the field and 34.3% from 3-point range in 72 appearances. He averaged 36.4 minutes per contest before suffering an Achilles injury during Boston’s second-round playoff loss to the New York Knicks last May.

Despite Tatum’s absence this season, Boston remains among the top teams in the conference. Jaylen Brown has led this effort, and has had a career-best campaign, guiding the Celtics to a 41-21 record and the No. 2 seed in the East.

Brown averaged 28.9 points, 7.2 rebounds, five assists and one steal per game, while shooting 48% from the field and 34.8% from 3-point range in 55 games.

The Celtics will look to bounce back from Wednesday’s 118-89 loss to the Charlotte Hornets when they host Dallas on Friday at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN. Boston will then begin a three-game road trip against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday at 1:00 PM ET on ABC.

With Tatum’s potential return, Boston’s postseason outlook could soon take another significant step forward.

Erik Spoelstra clarifies feelings on Heat’s ‘legitimate’ X-factor

MIAMI – As Miami Heat star Tyler Herro returned from a rib injury in a 128-97 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday after missing 15 straight games, the team was the healthiest it has been, arguably, all season. As the Heat look to maximize their full roster to their potential with 25 games left in the season ahead of Saturday’s showdown against the Memphis Grizzlies, head coach Erik Spoelstra talks depth.

It has been a recurring trend that Miami’s injury report would be full of issues, with Herro at the forefront as he has missed 45 of the 57 games played so far. But after a much-needed All-Star break, the team dominated with a healthy roster, possibly displaying winning ways from the beginning of the season.

Despite the myriad of injuries, Spoelstra has touted the team’s depth, and even though it’s only one game, he said Friday’s win had a different feeling.

“I have a lot of positive feelings about our team and our depth, we’ve used it all season,” Spoelstra told ClutchPoints before Saturday’s game. “We’ve used it when guys have been out, and last night was an example of that when we had our full roster, you could feel the depth. You could feel the level of talent, you know, that we have on the roster. It’s just one game, but we have to keep building and stacking up. I have no problem with our guys feeling great about the game after the break, and now we have another one that’s behind us. And we want to build some continuity.”

Tyler Herro puts the spotlight on the Heat’s “legitimate” strength

With the return of the Heat’s star in Herro, it has given the team a chance to see which rotations work and which don’t, although there is still work to be done. Especially when it comes to Herro and Norman Powell, and when Herro came off the bench in his first game, the two only played three minutes together.

Still, others, such as Kel’El Ware, Kaspars Jaksionis, Jaime Jacquez Jr., Pelle Larsson, and others benefited from a healthy roster. Spoelstra even talked about how Miami has “legit depth” after the win.

“We have legitimate depth, we’ve been talking about it all year,” Spoelstra said after Friday’s win over the Hawks. “But when you have players out, the depth is used to fill players out and fill some gaps. But when we have everyone available, we look a lot different. It’s a game, but it’s something we’ve felt about our team for a while. We have our guys available right now.”

There’s no doubt that helps someone like captain Bam Adebayo, who was carrying more weight than usual due to the uncertainty over who would or would not be available.

“You love a team that has that much depth,” Adebayo said after recording 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists in Atlanta. “Because now you have different guys that can step up at any time. And throughout the rest of the season and going into the playoffs, you’re going to need that.”

Although Davion Mitchell and Nikola Jovic are out for Saturday, the team’s health is headed in the right direction.

At any rate, Miami looks to win out as the team is 30-27, eighth in the Eastern Conference, before Saturday’s home game against the Grizzlies.

“I didn’t like him that much” – Liverpool fan admits mixed feelings about favorite teammate

Liverpool hero Dirk Kuyt has admitted he didn’t really like Raheem Sterling when he arrived at Anfield early in his career.

Today’s cover comments from the former Liverpool striker in 1908Made for ESPN in the Netherlands. He has been the talk of Sterling since his surprise arrival at Feyenoord.

Sterling signed for the Dutch team this week after being released by Chelsea. He fell out of favor at Stamford Bridge and all parties decided to end their relationship a year early.

kuyat unaffected

The 31-year-old had offers across Europe, including from the Premier League. But has elected to join Feyenoord until the end of the season. The Dutch side have guaranteed him the playing time he was looking for.

He is looking to get back on track after a poor few years at Stamford Bridge following a €56.2 million move in 2022. A loan at Arsenal in 2024 also failed to rekindle the spark.

It has been a winding career for Sterling, who began his career at QPR before moving to Liverpool’s U18s in 2010.

He was in the Liverpool first team two years later, scoring 23 goals and registering 18 assists in 129 games. Kuyt played with him, but was not a fan.

“That was quite a few years ago; he was sixteen then,” he said.

“We trained together a few times and played a few matches. Ultimately, I didn’t like him that much because he quickly moved to a bigger rival (Manchester City). But Raheem Sterling is, of course, considered a fantastic player in English football with a tremendous record.”

feyenoord occasion

We’re sure Kuyt’s sentiment is shared by most at Anfield after Sterling transferred to Manchester City in 2015.

However, he would argue that 131 goals and 8 assists in 339 games and numerous trophies helped justify it.

The focus now is on Feyenoord, and perhaps convincing Kuyt that he is not so bad. However, there could be some impressive performances between now and the end of the season.
