The New York Giants have been one of the most active teams in free agency as they have made significant roster additions. On paper, they are much better than the team that finished 4-13 in 2025.

Head coach John Harbaugh, general manager Joe Schoen and senior vice president of football operations Don Aponte deserve credit for addressing several key needs and streamlining the salary cap. The franchise is moving in a different direction under this new arrangement, and we’re starting to see what the team will look like in 2026.

There is a lot of curiosity about what the Giants will do with the fifth pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. There is speculation that they will take Notre Dame running back Jeremiah Love, despite the fact that they are strong at the running back position.

The Dolphins signed one of the top free agent quarterbacks available, signing Malik Willis to a three-year, $67.5 million contract with $45 million guaranteed. This decision is sure to be criticized by football critics across the industry. Still, some people liked Miami’s move.

Count out ESPN’s Seth Walder as an NFL analyst who thinks the Dolphins made one of the best signings in free agency this offseason. For a Dolphins team that had no clear path forward at QB, Walder believes Miami got exactly what they needed by taking a chance on the upside that Willis represents.

Certainly, there are obvious potential drawbacks with a quarterback who has made just six starts since arriving as a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Willis is far from a perfect product. Yet the Dolphins, who have two key decision-makers at the helm who were with Willis in Green Bay, are confident in the 26-year-old dual-threat QB’s development into a star in South Beach.

NFL free agency begins a billion-dollar spending spree

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, money is flying through the league at a historic pace. Since Monday, NFL teams have paid out a record $5.83 billion in total player compensation, including $2.59 billion guaranteed at signing.

That’s a big jump from last year’s opening week numbers, when teams spent a combined $4.88 billion with $2.19 billion guaranteed during the same period.

Stefon Diggs, wide receiver: Baltimore Ravens

The off-field concerns surrounding Stefon Diggs have a lot to do with how quiet his market is in NFL free agency. That said, he still put up 1,013 receiving yards on 85 receptions in his first full season last season after suffering an ACL tear. It will be a bit of a gamble for first-year head coach Jesse Minter, but the Baltimore Ravens have proven they are willing to take some non-medical risks. Diggs could be a complementary receiving threat to pair with Zay Flowers, giving Lamar Jackson a better receiving corps in his first year with new play-caller Declan Doyle.

Jaouan Jennings, wide receiver: Tennessee Titans

In previous NFL free agency predictions, we have seen Juwan Jennings landing with the Seattle Seahawks or Washington Commanders. However, Seattle has re-signed Rashid Shahid and Commanders general manager Adam Peters is focusing more on Brandon Aiyuk after he was released. This makes the Tennessee Titans the best fit for Jennings. The 6-foot-3 wideout offers a skill set that’s very different from free-agent signing Wan’Dale Robinson, as he can be a red-zone weapon whose size also makes him an effective target on third downs. The move will be about providing quarterback Cam Ward with a variety of pass-catching options in Brian Daboll’s offense. Plus, if Tennessee drafts Jeremiah Love, Jennings is a willing blocker.

Rasheed Walker, offensive tackle: Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns have addressed right tackle (Tytus Howard), center (Elgton Jenkins) and guard (Zion Johnson and Teven Jenkins) this offseason. That still leaves a glaring hole at left tackle. Luckily for Cleveland, there isn’t much left on the market for Rasheed Walker. He has been the best offensive tackle available since the beginning of NFL free agency, but his contract demands remain an issue. We think he’ll sign a one-year deal worth over $20 million to play left tackle for Cleveland. This fills a need for the Browns, giving them flexibility heading into the 2026 NFL Draft, while also allowing Walker to test the market again next season.

David Njoku, tight end: Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles gave themselves a little more time to decide on Dallas Goedert’s future with the club, but parting still appears to be the most likely outcome. What became clear last season was that this offense needs more help at the last minute, so it should come through both the NFL Draft and free agency. After spending nine years in Cleveland, Njoku likely wants to play for a Super Bowl contender with a quarterback he trusts to get him the football. With a defense focused on stopping Saquon Barkley, Devonta Smith and AJ Brown, as well as the athleticism of Jalen Hurts, Njoku could get plenty of open looks in Philadelphia.

Trey Hendrickson is surprisingly still available in NFL free agency. Hendrickson, who previously played with the Cincinnati Bengals, was arguably the top EDGE rusher in free agency, but he has not signed during the second day of the legal tampering window. However, an NFL insider has revealed a surprising update that explains why he is still unsigned.

As CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones reports, the price difference between what Hendrickson wants and what teams are willing to pay is about $10 million per year. This is a surprising development, as the market for 31-year-old EDGE is not what they expected. It appears Hendrickson is looking for more than $30 million per year.

For context, Odafe Owe agreed to a deal with the Washington Commanders that will pay him $25 million per year, while Boye Mafe’s new contract with the Bengals pays him $20 million per year. Most notably, Jaylen Phillips agreed to a deal with the Carolina Panthers worth $30 million per season.

Hendrickson was ranked as the top EDGE rusher free agent during the 2026 NFL offseason, so these numbers are likely serving as a baseline for his contract desires. However, the 2024 NFL Defensive Player of the Year runner-up underwent core muscle surgery during the 2025–26 NFL season at the age of 31.

Hendrickson only had four sacks in 2025; However, over the last two years he averaged 17.5 sacks per season. There are several teams that want to sign Hendrickson, but there must be a bridge in contract negotiations to get a deal done. Right now, the difference of about $10 million is too big.

There will be an NFL team that wants to sign a Defensive Player of the Year-caliber player, but Hendrickson may have to lower his asking price to get the deal done.

New England agreed to a deal with former Baltimore Ravens EDGE rusher Dre’Mont Jones in the first moments of free agency, followed by a deal with fullback Reggie Gilliam just hours later. Then, before midnight struck, the Patriots agreed to a three-year deal with left guard Alijah Vera-Tucker.

New England is entering the second day of free agency with still a number of needs. Below, we break down the five best players the Patriots are targeting after the first wave of free agency!

Romeo Dobbs, wide receiver

Romeo Dobbs is the best wide receiver available in free agency after day one. Dobbs would rank as New England’s current top wide receiver; However, it would be better if he finished as the WR2 in the offense. The former Green Bay Packer will suit up for the Patriots, and will likely be worth around $12 to $15 million on a multi-year deal.

Jaylin Hawkins, Security

Jaylin Hawkins improved with the Patriots during the 2025-26 NFL season, and he should be one of the top priorities remaining. Jauan Jennings, wide receiver

The 28-year-old wide receiver will start as the top target in New England. Jennings should get a similar deal to Dobbs, which could be around $12 to $15 million.

Leo Chenal, linebacker

Leo Chennel is a versatile linebacker who will fit really well in Mike Vrabel’s defense. Channell can play on the edge and inside, as well as rush the passer, defend the run and drop into coverage. The 25-year-old linebacker will be an excellent player that Vrabel likes on defense. Chenal should earn around $8 to $10 million on a multi-year deal.

Chig Okonkwo, tight end

Chig Okonkwo is the best tight end left on the board and that ties in with Vrabel. Okonkwo has great athleticism at the position of need for the Patriots, producing yards after the catch as a vertical threat in the passing game. The 26-year-old tight end is not a great blocker, but New England would sign him for his receiving ability. Okonkwo should receive $10 to $14 million on a multi-year deal.

Monday was the first day of the NFL free agency negotiating window. As always, this was the time when all the action happened. Many top free agents have already agreed to sign contracts with teams, however, so they will have two days before finalizing anything. He always leaves room for change of heart.

Still, after so many deals have been agreed upon in principle, it’s time to break down the biggest winners and losers of free agency so far.

Winner- Tyler Linderbaum

Linderbaum seemed like a strong bet to re-sign with the Ravens. Trading for Max Crosby would have changed Baltimore’s spending plans. Or, perhaps it was just the fact that the Raiders not only made Linderbaum the highest-paid center in NFL history with an offer, but Linderbaum signed a contract worth $27 million per season, while the previous mark was only $18 million. Talk about resetting the market.

Winner-Malik Willis

There was some talk that Willis would top Justin Fields’ two-year, $40 million contract signed last season. He cleared it easily. Miami signed Willis to a three-year, $67.5 million deal. Not bad for a player who has just six starts to his name. Still, if the dual-threat QB can live up to Miami’s projections, the Dolphins could have a star on their hands.

Winner-Mike Evans

It was hard to imagine, but Mike Evans left the Buccaneers after 12 seasons. Although the decision to do so may not have been easy, he found a great opportunity with Kyle Shanahan on the 49ers. He will step in as a top target for Brock Purdy, but he won’t have the full attention of the defense with players like Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle. Additionally, receiving over $20 million per season while coming off a career low in production at age 32 is good value for Evans, even if he is a potential Hall of Famer in the future.

Winners – Pass-Rushers

Pass-rushers get paid on the open market. Jaylen Phillips was right not to sign an extension with the Dolphins or Eagles after being dealt to Philadelphia for a third-round pick at the trade deadline. Now he joins the Panthers on a playoff team, also earning a massive four-year, $120 million contract. Not bad for a player who hasn’t gotten more than 8.5 sacks in a season, but the sky may be the limit for the 26-year-old in Carolina.

Meanwhile, we also saw Boye Mafe become Trey Hendrickson’s replacement in Cincinnati. The Bengals signed the 27-year-old to a three-year, $60 million contract. He had a career-high nine sacks in 2023, but has had just eight sacks since. Then, Washington signed Odafe Oweh away from the Chargers to a four-year, $100 million contract. Oweh has recorded 17.5 sacks over the past two seasons and that is a huge accomplishment for the Commanders.

Winner-Alec Pierce

Pierce said he deserved the right to hit the open market after a breakout season where he led the NFL with 1,003 receiving yards while averaging 21.3 yards per reception. That makes perfect sense, as Pierce received interest from a collection of major leaguers, but ultimately opted to pursue his success with the Colts. However, getting a four-year, $116 million contract certainly didn’t hurt.

Winner- Fernando Mendoza

He’s not on the team yet, but likely No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza ends up being a big winner here after the Raiders strengthen their core, especially on offense. Linderbaum is considered a good fit for Clint Kubiak’s offense, which values ​​an excellent center. Also, having an elite and experienced center is always good for a rookie QB. The Raiders also got a new deep threat in their final new franchise QB in Jalen ‘Speedy’ Neller, who could be poised for a breakout season if given more opportunities from Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison in Minnesota.

Winner – Tennessee Titans

The Titans aren’t happy with being in the bottom five, and now the new arrangement is set to upgrade the roster talent. Tennessee has added several starters, including a new target for Cam Ward in 1,000-yard receiver Van’Dale Robinson. Robert Saleh’s defense also got some upgrades. Winner – New York Giants

The Giants may have lost a 1,000-yard receiver in Van’Dale Robinson, but they didn’t panic. The Giants still managed to get franchise QB Jackson Dart a new weapon by stealing tight end Isaiah Brown from the Ravens. Was possibly seen as the eventual replacement for Mark Andrews in Baltimore, but now he’s got the starting job in New York instead.

Winner – Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs are set to receive their highest draft pick since making Patrick Mahomes the 10th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Still, they have now added a key playmaker to their backfield by signing Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III to a three-year, $45 million contract. Walker provides another threat to utilize Andy Reid on all three downs. Additionally, the Chiefs made sure to bring back Travis Kelce under contract for 2026 as well.

Winner – New York Jets

Even though their first move of the day happened before free agency began, we still have to note that the Jets traded All-Pro defender Minkah Fitzpatrick for just a seventh-round pick. But the Jets didn’t add adept players to Aaron Glenn’s defense. They also added former All-Pro linebacker Demario Davis on a two-year deal. Both veterinarians will help prepare the environment in New York.

Now players are also getting paid to take jobs elsewhere. The NFL free agency negotiation window opens Monday at 12 p.m. ET. As always, there was an immediate burst of activity. The Carolina Panthers wasted no time in writing a big check, the largest ever.

Weeks earlier, Panthers general manager Dan Morgan had acknowledged that the team would consider signing former Pro Bowl pass-rusher Bradley Chubb, who was recently released by the Dolphins. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Panthers are signing edge rusher Jalen Phillips to a four-year, $120 million contract. The 6-foot-5, 266-pound Phillips was traded from Miami to Philadelphia in exchange for a third-round pick, but he now leaves the Eagles after just eight games with the team.

Phillips, 26, arrived with the Dolphins as the 18th overall pick in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He’s still trying to top the 8.5 sacks he recorded as a rookie, but he’s also recovered from two season-ending injuries, including a torn Achilles, in 2023.

Last season, Phillips recorded 53 tackles (7 TFL), five sacks, two fumble recoveries and four pass deflections in 17 starts. Now he’ll look to build on those numbers in Carolina, where he’ll join a front seven that includes Pro Bowl defensive tackle Derrick Brown to help eat up blockers in the middle of the defense.

Loser: Daniel Jones

We are not here to suggest that quarterback Daniel Jones is suffering from his current situation in any way. After all, the “worst-case scenario” is for him to suffer a bust while earning a fully guaranteed $37.833 million in 2026. However, it seems like the 2026 NFL offseason didn’t unfold the way they wanted for Jones’ camp. Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst acknowledged that cornerback is an area where the team needs to improve. However, without a first-round pick, any rookie brought in will be a developmental piece who won’t see the field a ton in 2026. Immediate help is available in NFL free agency, although clubs have limited financial flexibility to address the situation.

Before winning a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks, Josh Jobe spent two seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, including one season under defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, whom he spent mostly learning from the sidelines. He played 65 percent of Philadelphia’s defensive snaps in 2024, allowing a 76.6 passer rating and 7.2 yards per target in coverage, and then played 78 percent of the Seahawks’ defensive snaps last season, allowing a 77.0 passer rating and 5.7 yards per target. He’s a bit of a gamble, as his success has come with great talent around him, but he offers qualities Green Bay likes, and he could challenge for a starting spot next season in a reunion with Gannon.

Roy Lopez, nose tackle

As impressive as Micah Parsons was for Green Bay’s defense last season, the absence of Kenny Clark was felt. Within the club’s price range, Roy Lopez stands out.

If Green Bay wants to find different ways to generate pressure for Micah Parsons, who suffered an ACL injury in year one — especially if Rashaan Gary is released — Dean could be a target at off-ball linebacker.

Calais Campbell, defensive lineman

One topic of our list of potential Packers free agent targets is the relationship between said player and defensive play-caller Jonathan Gannon. The same applies to Calais Campbell, who recorded 33 pressures, 16 quarterback hits and 6.5 sacks at Arizona last season. The 6-foot-8 and 315-pound Campbell is often used in a rotational role — he logged 524 snaps last season — as he now enters his age-40 season. That said, he can be a very good situational pass rusher, and he’s still making an impact on special teams.

Asante Samuel Jr., cornerback

Before signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers at the end of the 2025 season, Asante Samuel Jr. met with the Packers.
