Just hours before the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers take the field for the decisive Game 3 of their playoff series, some new updates have emerged regarding injuries to several key players.

The Sixers are in position to win on Friday night as they look to avoid falling into a 3-0 deficit against the Knicks. If they want to turn things around and try to tie the series this weekend, they’ll need to get seven-time All-Star Joel Embiid back on the court for Game 3.

The one-time NBA MVP missed Game 2 due to hip and ankle problems. According to SNY’s Ian Begley, Embiid is listed as questionable for tonight’s game which tips off at 7:00 pm ET. However, Knicks has been dealing with far more health issues in recent days.

Hart and Robinson probable for Knicks vs. 76ers Game 3

One of the biggest stories in New York is the availability of forward OG Anunoby. He limped off in the final minutes of Wednesday’s game, went to the locker room and never returned. He was diagnosed with a hamstring strain, and reports claimed the Knicks were optimistic about him playing in Games 3 or 4.

Begley reports he is still listed as questionable for tonight. This likely means he will sit out Game 3, which many expected.

Along with Embiid, skilled Knicks center Mitchell Robinson was unavailable Wednesday due to an illness. However, Begley says he is on track to return in Game 3 and is still listed as probable in the latest injury report.

During Wednesday’s game, forward Josh Hart hit his thumb on a Sixers player while going after a rebound and was in severe pain. That’s saying something for a player as tough and durable as Hart. But according to X-Account New York Basketball, a key member of the roster is listed as probable for this evening’s matchup in Philly.

The Golden Knights will close out the regular season with a two-game homestand starting tonight against the Jets before hosting the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday.

Reilly Smith in, Saad out

According to Danny Webster, the Golden Knights will start with Reilly Smith instead of Brandon Saad. The two have been bouncing back and forth between lineups.

“Smith will go tonight and Saad will be out,” head coach John Tortorella said. “I’ll have to figure it out, I like where the other lines are. I’m going to change them tonight and we’ll see how it all works out.”

Smith has 13 goals and 22 points in 67 games, while Saad has three goals and nine points in 49 games.

Hart got the nod in the net

Carter Hart got the nod in net tonight against the Jets and considering his play, it’s no surprise. He is 4-0-0 with a 1.93 average and .918 save percentage in his last four games.

Why won’t he start? He is 9-5-0 in 14 games in the playoffs, including a goals-against average of 2.23 and a save percentage of .926 in his career playoffs.

“Carter is on track to be in really good shape as we get to the playoffs.” Tortorella said.

As the regular season winds down, we’ll see if the Golden Knights lean toward Hart or if they give Adin Hill a chance to steal the crease back.

High Stakes vs Jets

Unlike last season, the Golden Knights still have a lot at stake. Vegas has won four of the last seven Pacific Division titles, but has yet to reach the postseason.

The Golden Knights currently lead the division with 91 points, with the Edmonton Oilers and Anaheim Ducks close behind with 90 points each.

A win against the Jets would give Vegas 93 points. A win would clinch the division and potentially set up a first-round matchup against the top wild-card team, which is trending toward the Utah Mammoth.

The National Hockey League’s Hart Memorial Trophy is awarded each season to the player deemed most valuable to his team in the NHL. This season, teenage phenom Maclin Celebrini of the San Jose Sharks should be the pick.

As we near the end of the 2025-26 NHL regular season, Nathan MacKinnon and Nikita Kucherov are the favorites for the Hart Trophy. While they both certainly deserve it this year, their team’s Most Valuable Player in hockey played in San Jose in 2026.

Let’s look at our case for why Celebrini should win the Hart Trophy.

Macklin Celebrini’s historic season deserves a historic trophy

In professional sports, narrative and history shape MVP voting. We’ve seen it in the NBA, when Russell Westbrook won MVP after averaging a triple-double on an Oklahoma City Thunder team that finished sixth in their conference. Miguel Cabrera won the AL MVP while hitting for the Triple Crown in 2012, and the NFL MVP has been awarded based on storylines in the past.

Narrative and NHL history should also influence Hart Trophy voting. This season, Celebrini became the sixth teenager in history to record over 100 points in a season, joining such all-time greats as Wayne Gretzky, Sidney Crosby, Mario Lemieux, Dale Hawerchuk, and Jimmy Carson. Earlier this season, he joined Lemieux, Gretzky and Crosby as the fourth teenager in NHL history with more than 40 points in 27 or fewer games.

The 19-year-old is also set to break Gretzky’s NHL record for highest points percentage on his team’s goals as a teenager. Celebrini is on pace for the third-most points total by a teenager in NHL history, behind only Crosby and Gretzky. Additionally, he is set to break San Jose’s single-season points record (Joe Thornton, 114).

From a narrative standpoint, it seems appropriate to end a historic season with Celebrini, joining Gretzky and Crosby as the only teenagers to win the Hart Trophy in NHL history.

The Celebrini Effect: Most Valuable Player in Hockey

The Hart Trophy is what defines what Celebrini is doing in San Jose this season. Through 76 games, the Sharks have scored 234 goals, with Celebrini scoring one point on 45.7 percent. For comparison, Kucherov has recorded a point on 45.2 percent of 279 goals for the Tampa Bay Lightning, and MacKinnon has recorded a point on 42.5 percent of 287 goals for the Colorado Avalanche.

Taking things a step further, let’s compare how each Hart Trophy candidate scores against their peers. Kucherov has a 40-point advantage over Tampa Bay’s second-highest scorer (Jake Guentzel, 86) and the Lightning have four players with more than 60 points this season. At Colorado, MacKinnon has 28 more points than teammate Martin Necas and the Avalanche have four skaters with more than 60 points. Meanwhile, Celebrini has a 52-point advantage over his next closest teammate (Will Smith, 55) and is the only player on the Sharks roster to score more than 60 points this season.

Another statistic to capture Celebrini’s value: The Sharks have a 2-15-3 record in games where Celebrini doesn’t record a point, and they are 35-17-4 when he does record a point. In games where Celebrini scored multiple points, San Jose is 24–3–1. This team is at the bottom of the NHL standings without him.

Heading into the 2025–26 NHL season, the Sharks were projected to have an overall over/under of 70.5, with ESPN projecting them to finish last in the Pacific Division. The team was also in the bottom five of the consensus NHL power rankings. Entering the game on April 7, San Jose is 2 points out of the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference, having scored 29 more points than last season thanks to 17 more wins. This was unimaginable in October, especially after the team started the season 0-4-2. It is still one of the youngest teams in hockey and is being run by a teenager. All this is another reason why Celebrini deserves to win the Hart Memorial Trophy.

The New York Knicks have been playing some better basketball lately, dominating the Boston Celtics for the number two seed in the Eastern Conference. However, what no one might know is that they got the news from ESPN’s “First Take,” where Stephen A. Smith routinely lambasts the Knicks, the team he claims to be a fan of, in a dramatic attempt to drum up an audience.

One person who is not involved in the gimmick is none other than Knicks forward Josh Hart.

“For me, I think as a part-time Knicks fan, Stephen A. needs to shut up. He barely knows the people that are on the team,” Hart said, according to Steve Popper of Newsday Sports, formerly of Newsday Sports, on Twitter.

In fact, there have been several occasions in which Smith falsely claimed that certain players were on the Knicks who moved on to different teams, and there were other situations where fans had ample reason to question how much of a fan he really was.

Over the past few weeks, the target of Smith’s criticism on ESPN has primarily been Mikal Bridges, who, to be fair, has had a disappointing season at times for New York, especially considering the hefty price the Knicks paid the Brooklyn Nets to land him last offseason.

Still, at the current juncture, New York has as good a chance as any to make it out of the Eastern Conference this year and make its first NBA Finals in two decades.

In any case, the Knicks will have a chance to silence some of their haters when they next take the field on Thursday evening for a tough road game against the aggressive Charlotte Hornets.

Josh Hart came to Mikal Bridges’ defense as Mikal Bridges struggled with shooting issues during the New York Knicks’ 2025-26 campaign.

Bridges is going through the eighth season of his NBA career, his second with the Knicks. This campaign has been different for the star wing as he is taking fewer shots per game. Since the All-Star break, entering Sunday’s win over the Washington Wizards, he was averaging just 10.4 points on 40.6 percent shooting and 31.3 percent from downtown.

Hart spoke to the New York Post about Bridges’ effectiveness on the court this season. He supports his star teammate, believing in his ability to persevere and continue to make big plays in big games.

“He’s doing what he’s asked. And I’ve said this before – when you’re a guy who’s been [with the Brooklyn Nets] When you’re the No. 1 guy and he’s calling those plays for you,” Hart said.

“Last year, there weren’t many plays called for him. This year, there’s probably even less plays called for him. So obviously there’s a mental hurdle that he has to overcome and that’s something where some of us can help him. I think he gets some unfair criticism because he’s doing what he’s asked. And if we sit there and say, shoot 15 shots a game, he’ll be efficient and he can do that. But that’s not the case. Asked him.”

The New York Knicks are currently on a five-game winning streak and will next host the Washington Wizards, who have lost 15 consecutive games. The Knicks lead the season series 2-0 and come into this game with a 93-92 win against the Brooklyn Nets.

New York is currently 46-25, in third place in the Eastern Conference, while Washington is 16-54, having last won on Feb. 20. The Knicks are allowing just 110.3 points per game (5th in the NBA), while Washington is allowing 123.8 points per game (29th).

In terms of injuries, the Knicks will be without Miles McBride and Landry Shamet, while Josh Hart is listed on the official injury report with a knee issue along with Tyler Kolek and Ariel Huckporty, according to a post on X by Steve Popper. For Washington, Leaky Black is sidelined with a left ankle sprain, while Justin Champagnie is unavailable as he serves a league suspension. The injury list also includes Anthony Davis (left finger sprain), Keyshawn George (left elbow sprain), Trey Johnson (right foot sprain), and Alex Sarr (left big toe capsulitis).

Cam Whitmore is also out with a serious right shoulder condition related to deep vein thrombosis, while Trae Young is out with lower back soreness and a right quad injury. After all, D’Angelo Russell is no longer with the team.

For context, Hart is averaging 12.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game during the 2025-26 season. His statistics are a bit behind last season’s, but he is averaging about eight minutes less per game.

OG Anunoby and Karl-Anthony Towns also contributed 26 and 22 points, respectively. Jose Alvarado was also integral, scoring 16 points and making half of his shots.

The Knicks will now travel to Brooklyn to play the Nets on Friday, March 20. Like the Pacers, the Nets are also out of the playoffs. His record is 17-51.

Currently, the Knicks are in third place in the Eastern Conference. They sit behind the Detroit Pistons (49-19) and Boston Celtics (45-23).
