5 AEW stars who could dethrone New World Champion Darby Allin, including Kazuchika Okada

On Wednesday night, AEW’s hottest underdog Darby Allin did the unthinkable and reached the pinnacle of professional wrestling.

After earning a championship opportunity with a victory over Andrade at AEW Dynasty this weekend, Allin immediately cashed in on that shot with a matchup against reigning champion MJF on this week’s Dynamite. After a violent battle, Allin shocked many by defeating the company’s top star to become AEW World Champion for the first time in his career.

It was one of the best moments in years. But given his history as an underdog, it is unlikely that Allyn’s reign will last until 2026. This will likely end in the next few months. But which AEW star can end Allin’s dream of becoming AEW Champion? We take a look at five possible options.

Don’t be surprised if Allin eventually hands the title back to the man he took it from, MJF, and it could come next month at AEW: Double or Nothing. Some fans will complain about such a short reign, but their wins – and losses – will benefit the brand as title changes can happen at any time, and reigns do not need to be long at all times.

It wouldn’t be surprising if AEW made the move at some point this spring to set MJF up for big matches at Forbidden Door in June, then AEW: All in London in August.

Kazuchika Okada

Kazuchika Okada

When AEW signed Kazuchika Okada, he left NJPW after a stellar performance and signed with AEW in 2024, so the expectation was that he would be in the main event like he was in Japan. That hasn’t been the case at all, and he’s been a near-top mid-carder for two years.

The company is paying him big money, and they really need to maximize that value. Pulling the trigger now in the main event and being the one to depose Allin would fit Okada’s character, as well as cleverly make him Public Enemy No. 1 among the fans.

bobby lashley

bobby lashley
Credit: AEW

After being sidelined for months, Bobby Lashley finally returned to AEW TV this week to get the Hurt Syndicate back in the win column. Sooner or later, Lashley will find his way into the title picture. Now seems like the perfect time.

As one of the biggest and most powerful athletes on the roster, it makes perfect sense to target Allin and take his belt from him. Plus, it would be entertaining to see Lashley do this to his former faction mate MJF.

brody king

Speaking of the biggest and most powerful stars on the roster, now is the time to pull the trigger on Brodie King’s World Title run. He and Allin have a deep history and have had many great matches against each other. However, with King now being a popular baby face, he may be one of the few talents on the roster that can retain fan support even after Allin makes the title cut.

will osprey

Sooner or later, former IWGP Champion Will Ospreay will have AEW World Title gold. It’s a sure bet in 2026. Many AEW fans will expect Allin to hold on to the belt for several months. Keeping the leash until close to five and then dropping down to the Osprey in his home country All in London is probably the company’s plan for this summer.

The winners and losers from the first night of the 2026 NBA Play-In Tournament, including new villain LaMelo Ball

Tuesday night was a perfect display of NBA Commissioner Adam Silver’s dream when he pushed to create an NBA Play-In Tournament. The games between the Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat and the Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix Suns featured exciting basketball, maximum effort and matchups that came down to the final seconds.

While basketball fans walked away with a win on the first night of the NBA Play-ins, not everyone went home happy. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the biggest winners and losers from the Hornets’ win over the Heat and the Trail Blazers’ playoff win against the Suns.

Winner and Loser: LaMelo Ball, Hornets

lamelo ball
Jim Dedmon-Images Images

On Tuesday night, LaMelo Ball showed the basketball world why the Hornets ignored rumors of trading him in the offseason. With the right pieces around him, Ball can lead a team to the playoffs, and Charlotte may not have survived to play another day without the 24-year-old’s 30 points, 10 assists, 5 rebounds and scoring a last-second layup in overtime in a do-or-die game.

However, while he is a hero in Charlotte today, he is a true villain in Miami. In the first quarter, he tackled the Heat’s top star, Bam Adebayo, causing an injury and knocking him out for the rest of the game. Given that the Hornets won by 1 point, Heat fans will be wondering all summer what could have been if Ball had not injured their best player. There is now a new villain in the playoffs.

Loser: Bam Adebayo, Heat

bam adebayo
jim russol-image images

In nine seasons with the Heat, Bam Adebayo has developed into a role as the center of this current iteration of the franchise. Additionally, earlier this season, he forever cemented his place in Heat and NBA history when he had a historic 83-point night.

However, this was the fourth consecutive year the team had to play its way into the postseason. That’s disappointing enough, but Ball’s poor play made matters even worse, keeping the three-time All-Star out for most of the game. Now, he and his teammates have to deal with the fact that they missed the playoffs for the first time since 2019 due to extremely questionable play early in the game.

Winner: Miles Bridges, Hornets

mile bridge
Vincent Carchietta-Imagen Images

After being selected in the first round in the 2018 NBA Draft, Miles Bridges has had an up and down tenure in Charlotte. He slowly developed into the team’s top star, and when he was set to cash in on his first big contract in the summer of 2022, he missed the entire season after serious domestic violence allegations.

Nevertheless, the Hornets did not give up on him and gave him a chance to rebuild his reputation. That loyalty was rewarded Tuesday when the eight-year veteran scored 28 points, hit five threes and got the game-winning block in the final seconds of the franchise’s biggest game in years. Bridges being a part of the Hornets’ resurgence is a feel-good story in Charlotte.

Loser: Erik Spoelstra, Heat

erik spoelstra
Sam Navarro-Imagen Images

It has been a disappointing season for veteran Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra. Despite being far better on offense than many had anticipated after trading Jimmy Butler last year, Miami has largely lagged behind on defense this season. This year’s Heat was a very un-Spoelstra-like group. We got further proof of this when they couldn’t seal a deal to play another day in the fourth quarter.

Now Miami will miss the playoffs for the first time in seven years and will have to figure out how they get back to classic Heat ball this summer.

Winner: Deni Avdija, Trail Blazers

portland trail blazers
Mark J. rebilas-imagen images

If you were a casual basketball fan and didn’t know much about Deni Avdija, you now know after the first night of the NBA Play-ins. The former lottery pick for the Washington Wizards has finally been coming along the past few seasons, but he took a huge leap forward in 2025-26 as he became the new face of Portland and earned All-Star honors for the first time.

In the franchise’s biggest game in five years, the 25-year-old looked like a superstar as he posted a near triple-double (41 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists) in his first postseason game. For the first time since Damian Lillard, the Trail Blazers have a legitimate star.

Loser: Devin Booker, Suns

devin booker
Mark J. rebilas-imagen images

Devin Booker is one of the game’s elite scorers and has been so for quite some time. But he’s a five-time All-Star because of his ability to dominate the offense and make his teammates better. The Suns needed it on Tuesday, but their top star was unable to elevate his play in the biggest game of the year.

It was much better weather in the desert than many people expected. However, Booker and his teammates continued to fight hard to take a 10-point lead late in the fourth game.

Winner: Tiago Splitter, Trail Blazers

tiago splitter
Kirby Lee-Images Images

Trail Blazers head coach Tiago Splitter deserves a lot of credit. The seven-year NBA veteran was thrust into the top job when Chauncey Billups found himself embroiled in an ugly gambling scandal just as the season began. Despite the messy situation, Splitter guided Portland to its first winning season and playoff birth since 2020-21. It’s hard to say that he hasn’t been able to keep the job next season.

Winner: Jrue Holiday, Trail Blazers

true holiday
Isaiah J. Downing-Imagen Images

Many mocked Portland trading for aging star Jrue Holiday and his hefty contract. Still, the 35-year-old has played very well in his first season with the Trail Blazers. But more importantly, he once again showed why he is such an impactful player in the most important games, scoring 21 runs in the team’s playoff win.

Holiday is making a lot of money, but for a team that’s yearning for the playoffs, he’s worth it in 2026.

Carlos Ulberg’s next fight options after UFC 327, including Magomed Ankalaev

The main event of UFC 327 had a shocking result on Saturday, as Carlos Ulberg defeated Jiri Prochazka for the vacant UFC light heavyweight title. In the early rounds, Ulberg injured his right knee and began having trouble standing.

“BJP” could not take advantage of the opportunity. Instead, Ulberg took advantage of a big left hook that dropped Prochazka, then finished him off with strikes on the ground and became the new UFC Light Heavyweight Champion.

It’s unclear how serious Ulberg’s injury is or how long it might take him to return to the Octagon. However, there are plenty of interesting fights in the division. As we wait for more information regarding the injury, we’re looking at three potential opponents in “Black Jag’s” first UFC light heavyweight title defense.

Magomed Ankalev

MMA: UFC 320 - Ankalaev vs. Pereira
Stephen R. sylvany-imagen images

The native of Dagestan, Russia briefly held the 205-pound championship after defeating then-UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira by unanimous decision at UFC 313 in March 2025. However, they met for a rematch last October at UFC 320, which had a completely different outcome.

Magomed Ankalev has been clear about his desire for another crack at the belt. A win over another former champion in Ankalaev could be key to Ulberg’s resume.

Khalil Rountree Jr.

MMA: UFC Fight Night - Copenhagen - Cutalba vs. Rountree Jr.

Last October, Khalil Rountree Jr. faced Prochazka at UFC 320, winning Fight of the Night. Rountree was in control in round two and looked to be on her way to a decisive victory. He was then caught with a left hook in the third round, resulting in a knockout loss.

Despite his recent tough stretch, the Los Angeles native remains one of the top names at 205 pounds. Rountree will certainly provide Ulberg a test to make his case at the top of the division.

Paulo Costa

MMA: UFC 298-Whittaker vs. Costa

“Borrachinha” fought at light heavyweight for only the second time in his career when he faced Azamat Murzakanov in the co-main event of UFC 327. Paulo Costa floored Murzakanov and secured the TKO victory with a head kick in the third round.

Costa has more to prove in the division before there can be any conversation about a title shot. But on the basis of his last performance he has given a big statement.

Winners and losers including Rory McIlroy

The 90th Masters concluded Sunday at Augusta National with Rory McIlroy winning the tournament for the second consecutive year. After ending an 11-year major drought to complete a career Grand Slam last year, he has now won at Augusta for the second consecutive year.

At 12-under 276, McIlroy overcame that on Sunday as four different players held or shared the lead before winning by one over Scottie Scheffler.

Here are the 10 winners and losers of the 2026 Masters Tournament.

Winner: Rory McIlroy

PGA: Masters Tournament - Final Round
kyle terada-imagen images

With the win, McIlroy joined Tiger Woods, Nick Faldo and Jack Nicklaus as the only men to successfully defend the green jacket. McIlroy is the first back-to-back winner since Woods in 2001 and 2002. Despite making double bogeys on the par-4 fourth and par-3 sixth, McIlroy bounced back with birdies on seven and eight and two more birdies on 12 and 13. He reached 18th place with a lead of two shots. He earned major win No. 6, tying Faldo for most wins by a European.

Loser: Haotong Li

PGA: Masters Tournament - Third Round
Katie Goodell-Imagen Images

Haotong Li struggled on 12 and 13 as McIlroy holed out for birdie down the middle of Amen Corner. His final round was full of ups and downs with four birdies and four bogeys on the first nine. Then came Amen Corner; Lee made triple bogey on the par-3 12th and recorded a score of 10 on the par-5 13th. As a result, Lee dropped from a top-five finish to finish tied for 38th at 1-over.

Winner: Scotty Scheffler

PGA: Masters Tournament - Final Round
Bill Streicher-Images

The two-time Masters champion fell just short of winning his third green jacket in five years. Despite not winning, Scheffler did not record a single bogey over the final 36 holes, including a 4-under 68 in the final round. He became the first player in 84 years to record a bogey-free weekend at the Masters. World No. 1 Scheffler also shot 7-under 65 on the day to climb the leaderboard. His last bogey or worse hole came on the par-5 15th in the second round.

Winner: Tyrell Hatton

PGA: Masters Tournament - Third Round
Grace Smith-Imagen Images

Tyrell Hatton recorded the best performance among LIV golfers in the field with a third-place finish. He finished tied with Russell Henley, Justin Rose and Cameron Young at 10-under 278. Hatton recorded his best Masters finish, shooting 6-under 66 on both Friday and Sunday. Hatton, who made his 10th start at Augusta National this week, tied Keegan Bradley and Gary Woodland for the best score during the final round.

Loser: Bryson DeChambeau

PGA: Masters Tournament - First Round
grace smith-image images

The biggest star to miss the cut was Bryson DeChambeau. The LIV star shot a 4-over 76 in the opening round, which included a triple bogey on the par-4 11th after needing three shots to get out of a greenside bunker. Then in the second round, DeChambeau shot 2-over 74 and missed the cut by two strokes, including another triple bogey on his final hole. The 32-year-old was one of the pre-tournament favorites but was unable to make the weekend.

Loser: Sergio Garcia

Golf: LIV Golf Michigan Team Championship
Aaron Doster-Imagen Images

The Spaniard did not have the best moments to end his 27th Masters start. During the final round, Sergio Garcia’s drive on hole No. 2 went into a bunker. As a result, Augusta National Golf Club played one of the toughest courses of the season, resulting in disappointment. Garcia angrily swung his driver, hitting the cooler next to the tee box and breaking his driver, which he was unable to use over the final 15 holes. Garcia received a code of conduct warning from the Masters Rules and Competition Committee.

RELATED: Masters 2026 leaderboard: Who leads after Round 1?

Winner: Max Homa

PGA: Masters Tournament - First Round
Bill Streicher-Images

For the third year in a row, Max Homa finished in the top 10 at the Masters with a T9. Homa shot 5-under 67 without any bogeys to earn a ticket to next year’s Masters. Homa finished 4-under on his final six holes, sealed by an eagle on the par-5 13th. It is Homa’s best start to the season after missing the last two cuts at the Valero Texas Open and the Valspar Championship. This is also Homa’s best performance after T13 at the Cognizant Classic.

Winner: Shane Lowry

PGA: Masters Tournament - Final Round
Bill Streicher-Images

Although the Irishman did not win, he did something that no other player achieved this week. During the third round on Saturday, Shane Lowry birdied the par-3 16th, becoming the seventh man in Masters history to record a 1 on the scorecard for that hole. Lowry has a strong resume of aces with hole-in-ones at TPC Sawgrass and Pebble Beach. He hit his second ace at Augusta and his first ace at No. 16 since 2016.

Loser: Robert McIntyre

PGA: Masters Tournament - First Round
Bill Streicher-Images

Robert McIntyre showed solid form entering his visit to Augusta National Golf Club with a runner-up finish at the Valero Texas Open. He also finished fourth in the Players Championship. However, the lefty was unable to put it together this week. He blew the par-5 15th with several shots into the water for 9. McIntyre then opened his second round with a double bogey in the first round and missed the cut by three strokes.

Winner: Annual Traditions

PGA: Masters Tournament - First Round
kyle terada-imagen images

Every year, the Masters is a “tradition unlike any other,” as broadcaster Jim Nantz would say. One tradition in particular is how the tournament begins with honorary starters. Having the Masters Tournament with those wearing green jackets pays homage to the past. This year, the trio of Tom Watson, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player – who have a combined 11 green jackets – took the lead at the first hole.

5 replacements including Sam Cassel

Washington Wizards head coach Brian Keefe’s time with the franchise may be nearing an end. The 50-year-old took over midway through the 2023-24 season and hasn’t made a case to be part of a potential turnaround next season alongside recently arrived veterans Trae Young and Anthony Davis.

In his two and a half seasons, he has compiled a dreadful record of 43–158. Some of this is not his fault, and the front office has pushed the team into the tank at the end of all those seasons. However, the Wizards have not shown clear signs of the development needed to keep him in the position.

Maybe that’s why The Athletic NBA insider Zach Harper suggested on Friday that he’s one of the most likely players to be fired in the next few weeks. “With Anthony Davis and Trae Young leaving at the deadline, Washington needs a coach who will instill confidence that wins are coming,” Harper wrote.

If the inevitable falls on Keefe any time soon, let’s take a look at five possible options to become the next head coach of the Washington Wizards.

taylor jenkins

Alonzo Adams-Imagen Images

Taylor Jenkins helped turn the Memphis Grizzlies into a consistent playoff contender in the Western Conference. However, his inability to manage Ja Morant and his on- and off-court issues played a role in his surprise exit at the end of last season.

The 41-year-old certainly deserves another chance as a head coach in the NBA and has shown he can develop talent. This is an essential characteristic for the next coach of the team as they still have a mostly young squad.

Sam Cassell

box
Kirby Lee-Images Images

Sam Cassel had a really good 15-year career as a player, winning three NBA championships. But since 2009, he has built a strong reputation as a top assist during several stops, including with the Los Angeles Clippers and currently the Boston Celtics.

For many years, he has been viewed as someone who is worthy of the head coaching job, and it is only a matter of time before a franchise finally gives him a chance. If Keefe is fired he will definitely be considered.

Mika Nori

box
Mark J. rebilas-imagen images

Another top assistant who has been linked to multiple head coaching jobs over the past few years is Minnesota Timberwolves assistant, Micah Nouri. He’s been learning on an NBA bench for 17 seasons and with five different teams. Of the various assistants in the game, there is none more prepared and respected than Nori.

chris quinn

box
Mark J. rebilas-imagen images

Miami Heat assistant coach Chris Quinn is a man who is sure to get a top job soon. He has been with the organization for 12 years and is Erik Spoelstra’s top assistant. The Heat and their culture is one of the most respected in the game due to their potential. Quinn is one of the franchise’s greatest acolytes and can bring to Washington what has worked for them over the past decade.

tom thibodeau

magicians
Trevor Ruszkowski-Imagen Images

Yes, former New York Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau has never reached the NBA Finals during his 13 seasons as a head coach. Apparently he has a reputation as a guy who can’t win everything. However, he has proven during his tenures in New York and Chicago that he can lift a team out of years of mediocrity and turn them into consistent winners.

For a franchise that hasn’t had a winning season in nearly a decade, at the very least, Thibodeau could help get them back on track as a consistent playoff contender in the East.

monty williams

Monty Williams was viewed as one of the great young coaches in the game after winning Coach of the Year honors with the Phoenix Suns a few seasons ago. However, since being fired from Phoenix two years ago and leading a historically bad Detroit Pistons team, his stock has declined significantly.

Yet, he is still only 54, has many fans in the NBA, and has proven he can build a program from the bottom up.

6 teams that could trade Myles Garrett during the NFL Draft, including the Jets and Eagles

There have been rumors of the Cleveland Browns potentially trading for top star Myles Garrett for the past few years. The two-time Defensive Player of the Year had also requested his exit a year earlier before receiving an extension from the team.

While general manager Andrew Berry is saying the right things and claims he wants Garrett to finish his career in Cleveland, several NFL insiders still believe a deal is possible, including Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio. On Friday, he made a reasonable case for why a trade should not be rejected and presented a compelling evidence.

“There was a recent contract amendment that delayed Garrett’s offseason option bonus deadline from the 15th of the league year in March to seven days before the start of the regular season,” Florio wrote. “Obviously, this allows the Browns to trade Garrett without paying the option bonus.”

A Myles Garrett trade is still in play, and it could potentially happen right before or during this month’s NFL Draft. If that were the case, let’s take a look at six teams that could use their draft assets to acquire the seven-time Pro Bowler.

dallas cowboys

miles garrett
Matt Kartoziyan-Imagen Images

The Dallas Cowboys still have a big hole at the pass rush after trading Micah Parsons just weeks before the start of the 2025 season. They’re hoping to fill that void with one of this year’s top pass-rushing prospects. However, Garrett is not only a proven commodity, but he is arguably the best pass rusher in the game.

The Cowboys have two picks in Round 1, and an owner/general manager in Jerry Jones is always ready to make a bold move. Could George Pickens be added to a potential deal to help make money? After how poorly we performed on that side of the ball last year, it would make more sense to pay one specific player on defense rather than pay big bucks to three players on offense (Pickens, CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott).

New York Jets

miles garrett
Rich Barnes-Imagen Images

The New York Jets were a disaster last season and need all the help they can get. So having two first-round picks this season is a big plus. However, they are a team in a major market, and bringing in box office stars will always appeal to ownership.

However, they could opt to give the Browns just one of their selections in Round 1 and instead offer first-rounders in future years. Which is not a bad thing. The chance to have the No. 2 overall pick and two picks in the top six this month will certainly interest Cleveland.

pittsburgh steelers

miles garrett
Barry Rieger-Imagen Images

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a league-leading 12 picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, including the 21st overall selection. They still have a solid chunk of salary cap space (via Over The Cap) to use for Garrett’s contract.

The Steelers are not a franchise known for making big trades. And the Browns are unlikely to move Garrett within the division. But they may make an offer Cleveland can’t refuse. Such as their first picks in 2026 and 2027, plus five or six more picks this year. Pittsburgh has five selections in Rounds 3 and 4 later this month.

jacksonville jaguars

miles garrett
Mark J. rebilas-imagen images

The Jacksonville Jaguars are tied for the second-most selections in this year’s draft with 11. But the biggest issue with the trade proposal is that they don’t have a first-rounder this year. Plus, they lack notable cap space. However, for a team that isn’t that far away from becoming a serious force in the AFC, Garrett is a target you make risky moves for.

Might Cleveland be interested in a deal for their second and three first-rounders this year, as well as their first-rounder in 2027, as well as players like Brian Thomas and/or Travon Walker? It’s worth a try to get the Browns on the horn and find out.

philadelphia eagles

miles garrett
Jeffrey Baker-Imagen Images

The NFL should be horrified at the thought of Myles Garrett on the Philadelphia Eagles. Although it seems impossible, general manager Howie Roseman can never be underestimated. And as a team in the title race, giving up a late first-rounder won’t be an issue. Additionally, adding a star receiver like AJ Brown to the deal would be a very interesting sweetener.

The Eagles trading for Garrett is a long shot, but it can’t be completely ruled out as they look to capture their second title in three years.

Washington Commanders

miles garrett
Jeffrey Baker-Imagen Images

The Washington Commanders could be a serious contender for a Myles Garrett trade on draft night. According to Over the Cap, he has the seventh overall pick in the NFL Draft and approximately $50 million in cap space. After a surprising decline in 2025, Garrett is the superstar who can lead the Commanders back to the NFC Championship Game next season.

Washington has the resources and desperation to fight to make Cleveland a bold offer during the 2026 NFL Draft.

Sullivan and Hafley’s Miami Dolphins draft plan, including trade, revealed?

A new report from the Miami Dolphins may have revealed Jeff Hafley and John-Eric Sullivan’s entire strategy for the first NFL Draft as leaders of the program.

It’s been a very busy offseason for the Dolphins. After a 7–10 finish, ownership decided to clean out the team’s brain trust and gave new leadership to Sullivan as general manager and Hafley as head coach. But that was just the beginning.

Over the past few weeks, the team has adopted a strategy of additions and subtractions by trading Jaylen Waddle and Minkah Fitzpatrick and cutting Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill and Bradley Chubb. This is a big change that comes with a lot of dead cap and serious limitations to fill those holes. That’s why the 2026 draft will be so important for Sullivan and Hafley in the first year.

Do the Miami Dolphins have to wait until days 2 and 3 of the draft to select a receiver?

dolphin
Kirby Lee-Images Images

The Green Bay Packers underdogs will have to build on their picks later this month and set the stage for an even better season to come. But how will they do this? Well, according to ESPN NFL expert Jordan Reed, it will be by following the blueprint he learned in Green Bay, but it could also include “aggressive” use of the additional draft assets they have.

“I expect the Dolphins to be very active throughout the draft after clearing their roster in the studs this offseason,” Reed wrote. “Sullivan comes from the Packers tree, and Green Bay has historically valued premium position picks in Round 1 and pass catchers in Days 2 and 3.

“I think this trend will continue, as there are chances to add linemen early. But with 11 picks, the Dolphins can be aggressive and move up the board for a prospect they really want.”

The Dolphins have seven picks in the top 100 spots of the NFL Draft. So while they took on a lot of debt to overhaul the roster, they will have plenty of opportunities to get a lot of good players in the first three rounds. Or, they can move on and find prospects they love because they have the assets to move forward.

6 possible replacements including Cassel

Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers may not be with the team much longer. There is no doubt that he is one of the best NBA coaches of the last quarter century. He is headed to the Basketball Hall of Fame’s 2026 class after winning a championship with the Boston Celtics in 2008 and amassing 1,193 career wins.

However, no one stays at the top of their game forever, and his time under the Bucks’ tutelage has been very short-lived. In two and a half seasons as head coach, he has a record of 96–100 and has managed a tumultuous 2025–26 season.

Most believe the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade drama is a dark cloud hanging over the team this year. But a new report from ESPN’s Shams Charania on Tuesday revealed a toxic situation in the locker room and a serious disconnect between Rivers, his staff and the roster. This makes it seem like a coaching change is very likely, whether Antekounmpo is traded or not.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at five potential replacements for Doc Rivers this offseason.

taylor jenkins

Taylor Jenkins helped turn the Memphis Grizzlies into a consistent playoff contender in the Western Conference. However, his inability to manage Ja Morant and his on- and off-court issues played a role in his surprise exit at the end of last season. The 41-year-old absolutely deserves another shot as a head coach in the NBA, and his previous experience in helping build a program from the ground up will appeal to the Bucks.

Sam Cassel

box

Sam Cassel had a really good 15-year career as a player, winning three NBA championships. But since 2009, he has built a strong reputation as a top assist during several stops, including with the Los Angeles Clippers and currently the Boston Celtics. Sooner or later rival teams will begin looking for assistants from the Oklahoma City Thunder coaching staff as head coach Mark Daigneault has developed a championship program from the ground up. One of his top assistants on his way to becoming the top of the NBA crop is Mike Wilks.

Wilkes has been instrumental in developing their young core and has also worked under several coaches as a player. He has an interesting wealth of knowledge that makes him an interesting candidate to become the next head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks.

Monty Williams was viewed as one of the great young coaches in the game after winning Coach of the Year honors with the Phoenix Suns a few seasons ago. However, since being fired from Phoenix two years ago and leading a historically bad Detroit Pistons team, his stock has declined significantly. Still, he has many fans in the NBA and has proven that he can build a program and win in the NBA.

Tottenham Hotspur, evertonAston Villa, AFC Bournemouth and Brentford are in the mix to sign West Ham United’s Crescencio Somerville.

Winger joins West Ham from Leeds United for more than £25million [€28.7m] in August 2024 and his recent form has not gone unnoticed.

Back in January, Sport Witness Covered claims from Türkiye Regarding Galatasaray’s interest in a winter transfer. However, he did not leave Nuno Espirito Santo and it worked out well for him.

His form since the start of the year has seen Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, Aston Villa, AFC Bournemouth and Brentford all draw interest.

His Premier League statistics this season are as follows:

  • Appearances: 24
  • Start: 22
  • Total minutes: 1,864
  • Target: 5

The report focuses on Atalanta looking at the 24-year-old for the summer as he remains a target for manager Raffaele Palladino.

However, Serie A teams face a lot of competition both domestically and abroad. Naples is ahead in the transfer race from Italy. In England, there is a long queue and a fierce battle to secure their services.

This comes after Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, Aston Villa, AFC Bournemouth and Brentford have all been named. Apart from these clubs, Marseille and Villarreal are also in the picture.

The newspaper claims West Ham United value Crescencio Somerville at €30 million, which appears to be on the low side of reality.

That said, if the Hammers were removed its value could drop. They are currently 18th in the table, one point behind 17th-placed Spurs.

It is unlikely the Hammers will sell him for €30 million if they remain in the top flight. If he impresses for Ronald Koeman at the World Cup the price could rise significantly.

5 Food City 500 predictions including the winner

The NASCAR Cup Series returns this weekend with teams heading to the iconic Bristol Motor Speedway. Two weeks to prepare for the Food City 500 gave drivers time to rest and get additional sim time, so we expect some great racing this weekend.

Let’s take a look at our NASCAR predictions for the Food City 500 at Bristol.

Denny Hamlin wins pole at Bristol

NASCAR Predictions Bristol, Denny Hamlin
Randy Sartin-Imagen Images

Denny Hamlin and the No. 11 team have not qualified lower than eighth at Bristol Motor Speedway in eight races since 2020. However, he has not won pole here since 2019 and has done so just twice since 2015. Joe Gibbs Racing completely designed the No. 11 at Martinsville two weeks earlier, the car performed well by winning the pole, posting the fastest lap, winning both stages and dominating the majority of the race. We believe the setup will be equally effective at Bristol, earning Hamlin pole position at Bristol for Sunday’s race.

RELATED: NASCAR Cup Series all-time win list, including Denny Hamlin

Kyle Larson wins Stage 1

NASCAR Predictions Bristol, Food City 500, Kyle Larson
Randy Sartin-Imagen Images

Last April at Bristol Motor Speedway, Kyle Larson led the field with two stage wins, fastest lap and led 411 laps. We may not see the same level of ownership of the No. 5 car in the Food City 500 this weekend, but Larson will score his first stage win of the season. This is also something he and Hendrick Motorsports need, considering he currently sits ninth in points. Larson will take Stage 1 on Sunday afternoon; This would be the start of an excellent points day for him.

Christopher Bell wins Stage 2

NASCAR Predictions Bristol, Food City 500, Christopher Bell
Randy Sartin-Imagen Images

We think there will be a great back-and-forth between some of NASCAR’s best drivers at the Food City 500. Larson gets the Stage 1 win and, thanks to some issues on pit road by the No. 11 team, Christopher Bell takes the advantage, beating Hamlin and Larson for the Stage 2 win. He would finish in the top five on both stages, securing himself over 16 stage points, and he would come out strong over the weekend in the top three in terms of points earned during Sunday’s race.

ty gibbs stays hot

NASCAR Predictions Bristol, Food City 500, Ty Gibbs
Randy Sartin-Imagen Images

Ty Gibbs certainly isn’t one of the most popular NASCAR drivers at the moment, but you can’t deny the success he’s had recently. He entered the off-week with five consecutive top-six finishes, scoring an average of 41 points per race during that five-race period. He is not making the mistakes of the past where he would have ruined the great equipment, team and setup he was working with. Now, Gibbs is headed to Bristol Motor Speedway, a track where he has averaged an 8.4 finishing position in the past five races, including a third-place finish in last year’s spring race. We believe Gibbs can make it six consecutive top-five finishes.

Food City 500 Winner: Denny Hamlin

NASCAR Predictions, Food City 500
Randy Sartin-Imagen Images

While Denny Hamlin hasn’t been as great as Tyler Reddick this season, 23XI Racing has their top driver struggle on these shorter tracks. Hamlin easily had the best car at Martinsville and if not for a loose tire after his final pit stop, which affected the car’s ability to catch up to Chase Elliott, he might have taken the maximum points and the win. We previously predicted that a small pit-stop issue would prevent Hamlin from taking Stage 2, but that the team would be faultless after that. In the battle of Hamlin, Larson and Bell, the two teammates help each other and then Hamlin defeats Bell for the Food City 500 victory.

6 landing spots for star scorer Audie Crooks in transfer portal, including Iowa and UCLA

The women’s college basketball transfer portal got its biggest addition this week when Iowa State star Audie Crooks revealed she is entering college basketball free agency to “explore what it means to re-establish roots in a new land.” Which is code for getting one last big payday in his final year of eligibility.

In her three seasons with the Cyclones, Crooks became one of the best players in program history and emerged as one of the game’s leading scorers. Ranked second in the country with 25.8 points per night in 2025–26.

Crooks is a dominant force, with his bull in china shop style in the paint, and will surely have a number of big-time suitors in the transfer portal. With that in mind, we look at six potential landing spots for Star Jr.

UCLA Bruins

UCLA
Kirby Lee-Images Images

After a big win over Texas on Friday night, UCLA coach Corey Close is on the verge of bringing the women’s basketball program its first national championship. However, after the championship game, their team will either lose or win, as many stars are headed to the WNBA.

Close will need to rebuild quickly to keep the Bruins in tournament contention. Going after Crooks would make a lot of sense to fill the void left by the departure of top star Lauren Bates.

minnesota golden gophers

minnesota
Ed Szczepanski-Imagen Images

There is already talk that Minnesota could be the top contender for Audie Crooks in the transfer portal. Coach Don Plitzuwitz has turned the Golden Gophers into a powerhouse in the Big Ten and got the program to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in eight years this month. Splurging on an Iowa State star in the portal and trying to jump into title contention next season would be a smart risk for the program.

lsu tigers

LSU
Ed Szczepanski-Imagen Images

LSU’s Kim Mulkey is one of the top coaches in college basketball and has already announced that she plans to enter the transfer portal to improve her roster for next season. Crooks could certainly be a priority to push the Tigers back into Final Four contention in 2026-27. The thought of Audie Crooks and Mylesia Fulville teaming up next season should scare SEC rivals.

iowa hockeys

iowa
Julia Hansen/Iowa City Press-Citizen/via USA TODAY Network Images

Coaches Lisa Bluder and Kaitlin Clark transformed the women’s basketball program at Iowa into a glamor team. Jen Jensen has done a good job of maintaining the standards, but they need bigger guns. Especially because they will lose star forward Hannah Stuelke to graduation this spring.

Getting Crooks away from their in-state rivals would be a huge coup for the Hawkeyes program and they would get a new scoring machine in Clark.

yukon huskies

uconn
Patrick Breen/The Republic/USA TODAY via Network Images

After being the best team in basketball all season, Geno Auriemma didn’t handle UConn’s chance at another repeat after losing to South Carolina in the Final Four. He has never been a fan of the transfer portal. However, that bitter loss could propel them to make a big splash this spring. Especially since they will lose several key players after this season, including forward Sarah Williams.

tcu horned frog

TCU

Mark Campbell has turned TCU into an elite program in the Big 12 after back-to-back seasons with 32 or more wins. However, they are set to lose some elite players from the program this year, including star forward Marta Suarez. The university has expressed its desire to continue spending on the transfer portal. Going after the top scorer in the country will help maintain the Horned Frogs’ new standard as a top program in women’s college basketball.

5 Tom Brady landing spots if he sold Raiders stake for NFL return, including Colts

Earlier this week, future Hall of Famer and New England Patriots icon Tom Brady revealed in an interview with CNBC that he had recently seriously considered returning to the field. However, the 15-time Pro Bowler also revealed that the NFL “didn’t like the idea very much.”

It wasn’t because they didn’t want to see the 48-year-old make a spectacular return to the NFL. This was because he wanted to do so and retain his minority ownership in the Las Vegas Raiders. Which is a big no-no. Still, he clearly has a desire to play, and that’s probably why he was the driving force behind creating the Fanatics Flag Football Classic this year.

But for a man who ruined his marriage just to play one more season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it may not be enough. Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio added to that thought on Sunday. He wrote, “Still got the itch. He can still play. He’ll be better right now than some of the players who are going to be starters in 2026.”

“Will the itch go away? Possibly. If not, selling his stake back to Mark Davis could be an easier path out of a situation in which his role doesn’t match the franchise’s expectations.”

On the outside chance that Tom Brady surprisingly gives up his stake in the Raiders for another season in the league, let’s take a look at five teams he would be willing to play for.

las vegas raiders

raiders
Mark J. rebilas-imagen images

Obviously, the most likely option would be to suit up for the team he was signed to. Las Vegas was rumored to be a landing spot when he left New England several years ago, and he clearly has a bond with majority owner Mark Davis. While the Raiders are no closer to a title contender, Brady would have unheard of power as their starting QB.

This would be a dream scenario for the franchise. They’ll be getting a year from, arguably, the greatest QB ever, and they’re projected to have No. 1 pick Fernando Mendoza learn from him for a season.

pittsburgh steelers

steelers
Barry Rieger-Imagen Images

The Pittsburgh Steelers are playoff contenders, but they haven’t had a true Pro Bowl-level QB since the days of Ben Roethlisberger. That’s why they’ve learned about Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers over the last two years. There is a real possibility that Brady could perform worse than the two future Hall of Famers. Or, he could be better, and it could be enough to lead Pittsburgh to the AFC Championship.

indianapolis colts

colts
Denny Medley-Images Images

The Indianapolis Colts have a mixup at the QB1 spot. Daniel Jones was great for most of the 2025 season before he broke a bone in his foot and then tore his Achilles. They are now forced to hope that he can return sooner than expected because they could not find a better player in free agency or the draft. However, Brady could have if he was available.

The Colts looked like a Super Bowl contender before Jones got injured. And Philip Rivers walked off the street at 44 and looked good at times because of the weapons he had. At 48 years old, Brady can help Indy reach the playoffs and advance.

carolina panthers

panthers
Stephen Lew-Imagen Images

The Carolina Panthers also have a very tough situation at the QB1 spot as this is a make or break year for former No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young. However, if Tom Brady were available, Carolina would take advantage of the opportunity and make every impact he can if it helps them win some games in the playoffs next year.

atlanta falcons

Falcon
Mark J. rebilas-imagen images

Despite having a messy QB situation in 2025, the Atlanta Falcons are still 8-9. Same record as the division champion Panthers. With weapons like Bijan Robinson and Drake London, adding Brady to the mix could be enough to get them to 10 wins and homefield in a playoff game. Plus, whenever Michael Penix Jr. returns, he can also learn a thing or two by sitting down with the NFL legend.

5 rival options including Penta

We’re just a few weeks away from WrestleMania 42, and it’s unclear whether Gunther, one of WWE Raw’s biggest stars, will even be at the show. Despite the retirements of notables like Goldberg and John Cena last year and then AJ Styles in January, the man now known as the “Career Killer” has been MIA on Monday nights lately.

However, despite rumors that he would not be getting a spot on the card, a new report from Wrestle Votes Radio claims that the WWE creative team has still nominated him for a notable role in April. If this does end up being a match, let’s take a look at five opponents he could face at WrestleMania 42.

Penta

Penta
Credit: WWE

Penta finally got WWE gold earlier this month when he defeated Dominic Mysterio for the Intercontinental title. As we get closer to ‘Mania, a Lucha star needs a match at the event. A confrontation with the man who may be the greatest IC champion of all time, Gunther, could decide the direction of the company. At the very least, the match could be the best on any given night of the show.

ray mysterio

The most notable rumor regarding Gunther’s plans at WrestleMania is a confrontation with Rey Mysterio. A recent report claims it was in the works until the Hall of Famer’s health issues derailed the idea. If the lucha legend can recover, there could be enough time for a retirement bout at the April event.

la night

A month ago it was rumored that LA Night would be Brock Lesnar’s opponent at WrestleMania. However, we now know that “The Beast” will face “The Ruler.” Oba Femi. Similar to Gunther, Knight is a notable star with no clear path to the April mega event. Pairing the two stars at WrestleMania 42 is another possible option for them, especially if it could be a No. 1 contendership match with CM Punk or Roman Reigns.

Chris Jericho

WWE fans love mystery opponents, and this could be the creative direction Gunther should take to get a match at WrestleMania. If this plan was successful, many would expect his opponent to be future Hall of Famer Chris Jericho.

The multiple-time world champion is reportedly out of AEW, and all signs point towards a return to WWE sometime in 2026. It is very possible for this to happen at WrestleMania.

evil

Adding to the idea of a mystery opponent, another possible option could be former IWGP Champion EVIL. The longtime NJPW star’s contract expired in the New Year, and reports earlier this year claimed he was linked to WWE. The match with Gunther could be a show-stealer and would be a great way to introduce the Japanese star to unfamiliar fans.

5 possible teams including Cowboys

Alabama star Ty Simpson is one of the more divisive prospects in next month’s NFL Draft. Draft evaluators know the quarterback is talented, but the big question is what is his potential? Scouts only have one season of tape to look at as a starter. And while he was great for most of the year, he went backwards in the last month of the year, but it wasn’t necessarily all his fault.

Simpson is likely to be taken at some point in Round 1, or early in Round 2, and teams such as the Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, and New York Jets have been linked to the QB prospect. However, this week, veteran draft expert Todd McShay claimed there is a mystery team that has not been considered as “hidden” as the Simpson movers in the evaluation process.

With that in mind, let’s speculate who the mysterious team interested in Simpson might be.

miami dolphins

ti simpson
Kirby Lee-Images Images

It’s been a busy offseason for the Miami Dolphins. They have moved on from several veterans, including former starting QB Tua Tagovailoa. They replaced him in free agency with Malik Willis, the best signal caller on the market. However, the Liberty alum is far from a sure thing.

It’s not out of the question that Miami invests a Day 2 pick at some safety if Willis disappoints. At the very least, they can try to develop the Alabama star and look to trade him in the future.

indianapolis colts

ti simpson
Kirby Lee-Images Images

The Indianapolis Colts are in a mess in the QB room. They should have Daniel Jones back in 2026, but he is returning from a nagging condition, so it’s unclear when he’ll be available to play. Additionally, backup first-round bust Anthony Richardson is looking for a trade. So, as of now, fifth-round pick Riley Leonard looks to be in line to start in Week 1.

While they feel Jones can be their franchise QB for a long time, his health is a big question mark. Also, he is not tied to any long-term deal. Simpson could be Indianapolis’ Plan B if they can’t rely on the former New York Giants QB.

carolina panthers

ti simpson
Stephen Lew-Imagen Images

This is a make or break season for former No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young. If the Carolina Panthers QB can’t take a leap forward and become a consistent impact player, the team will move on. While they have a solid backup option in Kenny Pickett, he is also an unsuccessful starter on the other team.

The organization has enough evidence not to believe it, so it would be understandable if they were a mystery team taking a close look at Simpson as an option in Round 2.

Los Angeles Rams

ti simpson
Mark J. rebilas-imagen images

Before trading one of their picks in Round 1, the Los Angeles Rams were viewed as a potential suitor for Ty Simpson. There’s a very real possibility that this is Matthew Stafford’s final season, so LA should start preparing for life after the reigning MVP. It wouldn’t be surprising if they try to trade up in Round 2 and go after the Alabama QB as Stafford’s successor in 2027 or 2028.

dallas cowboys

ti simpson
Kirby Lee-Images Images

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones is very unpredictable. Some people hoped they would actually trade top star Micah Parsons, but they lost out last fall. That’s why Dak Prescott shouldn’t assume a roster spot is secure for the remainder of his contract.

The soon-to-be 33-year-old has a huge contract that is increasingly limiting the team’s cap flexibility. It wouldn’t be surprising if Jones is already thinking about replacing him, and Simpson could be an interesting option in Round 2. Prescott’s contract remains a stumbling block, and unless Prescott leads Dallas to the Super Bowl, it seems unlikely he will be able to accomplish that in 2028.

6 replacements if Bill Self leaves Kansas, including Danny Manning and Nate Oats

Bill Self is the greatest coach in the history of the Kansas basketball program. That’s saying something for a team that had coaching icons like Roy Williams and Fogg Allen during their peak periods. However, when you have the most wins in school history and a pair of national championships to your credit, it’s hard to deny his status as the most important sports figure the university has ever produced.

However, all good things come to an end, and the Self era may soon be coming to an end. After a heartbreaking last-second loss to St. John’s in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, the coach seemed unsure whether he would return this fall.

“I haven’t really been able to do much on the court,” Self said after the game. [h/t The Athletic]. “I’ve seen some things off the court. So I’ll come back and visit with the family and see what’s going on. I love what I do. I need to be able to do it where I’m feeling good and healthy enough to do it well enough.”

At age 63, and after 33 years of coaching (23 at Kansas), it wouldn’t be shocking if Self walked away from the game. Even if it is only for a few years. If he does retire, let’s take a look at six coaches the program could target as Bill Self’s replacement.

Jack Vaughn, Kansas (assistant)

kansas
Evert Nelson/The Capital-Journal/USA TODAY Network via Imagine Images

There is a real possibility that if Self walks away from the game, the program could go with an internal alternative. Associate head coach Jeremy Case would be a way for the school to move forward. However, assistant coach Jack Vaughn would be a great move.

Vaughn understands what it means to be a Jayhawk on the court after playing a memorable four-year run as a star for the school in the ’90s. However, what may give him an edge on the case is that he has extensive coaching experience during his stints with the NBA Orlando Magic and Brooklyn Nets. Although those tenures may not have been good, it is important to have experience in high-pressure jobs. Especially when a living legend is being replaced.

Brad Underwood, Illinois

North Carolina
Jim Dedmon-Images Images

Although it took some time, Brad Underwood has turned Illinois into a legitimate force in the Big Ten. He has 20 or more wins in each of the last seven seasons, went 25-8 in 2025-26, the coach has won a pair of conference tournaments, and his team is in the Sweet 16 this week.

Underwood has done a lot with a second-tier school in a conference that has about half the Sweet 16 teams. With Kansas’ resources and brand recognition, he could soon make the Jayhawks a title contender again.

Michael Malone, former Nuggets head coach

North Carolina
Ron Chenoy-Image Images

A few years ago, former Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone was viewed as one of the best in the NBA. He developed Denver into a consistent title contender, helped elevate Nikola Jokic to superstar status and led the Nuggets to their first championship in 2023. However, disagreements with the front office led to his surprise exit at the end of last season.

After the way he was fired in 2024, Malone could be angry at the NBA experience and big personalities involved on and off the court. Bringing in a coach who recently won an NBA title would be a coup for Kansas.

TJ Otzelbarger, Iowa State

North Carolina
Jeff Le-Imagen Images

Since arriving at Iowa State five years ago, TJ Otzelbarger has done nothing but win and lead the Cyclones to the NCAA Tournament every year, including this week’s trip to the Sweet 16. Similar to Brad Underwood at Illinois, if given the resources Kansas has, Otzelburger could get the program back to the Final Four in a year or two.

Danny Manning, Louisville (assistant)

kansas
Denny Medley-Images Images

If basketball icon Wilt Chamberlain weren’t a Jayhawk, Danny Manning would be the greatest player in team history. Bringing back the legend and former Kansas assistant to replace Bill Self would be a huge story.

Yet his notoriety within the program is not the only reason he would be a candidate to become their next head coach. He has a wealth of experience as an assistant and currently serves as Pat Kelsey’s top assistant at Louisville. A team that has made consecutive trips to the tournament over the last two years.

Nate Oates, Alabama

kansas
Matt Pendleton-Imagen Images

Another interesting option that could be on Kansas’ radar is Alabama head coach Nate Oats. ‘Bama has been a football-first school for generations. However, in his first season out of a rebuilding year, Oats has led the Crimson Tide to the tournament in six consecutive seasons. Which includes a Sweet 16 birth this month.

Oats turned ‘Bama into a powerhouse in the SEC. However, no matter what happens, the basketball program will be secondary. However, at Kansas, he could be the top coach at a major college with a proud history.

If North Carolina fires Hubert Davis soon there will be 6 replacements including Todd Golden

When Hubert Davis took over the head coaching job with North Carolina in 2021-22 and led them to the NCAA Tournament final, it seemed like the school had found the man to oversee the program for the next decade. However, the Tar Heels failed to make the tournament the following season and were eliminated in the opening round the previous two years.

That’s why ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports that the coach’s future is currently “in change.” The basketball insider claims no decision will be made until next week, but at least the entire staff under Davis will be out. If North Carolina were to make a complete turnaround and move on from Davis, let’s look at six replacement options for possibly the best job in college basketball.

Brad Underwood, Illinois

North Carolina
Jim Dedmon-Images

Although it took some time, Brad Underwood has turned Illinois into a legitimate force in the Big Ten. They have posted 20 or more wins in each of the last seven seasons, went 25-8 in 2025-26, and the coach has a pair of conference tournament championships on his resume. Underwood has done a lot with the second-tier school in the conference. With UNC’s resources and brand recognition, he can achieve the consistent results expected by the program.

Todd Golden, Florida

North Carolina
Alan Youngblood/Gainesville Sun/USA TODAY Network via Imagen Images

North Carolina’s dream target would be Florida head coach Todd Golden. After a remarkable performance that legitimized San Francisco, the coach has made an immediate impact on the Gators. In his third season, he led the program to a national title, and they are in position to repeat this month after a rocky start to the 2025-26 season.

What makes him extremely attractive is that he is only 40 years old. The big question is will he feel that UNC offers a better job than the one he currently has in Gainesville? Many people across the country think this will happen.

Bringing in a coach who recently won an NBA title would be a coup for UNC. The only issue is, does his lack of college experience make the situation as messy as it was in football with Bill Belichick in school?

TJ Otzelbarger, Iowa State

North Carolina
Jeff Le-Imagen Images

Since arriving at Iowa State five years ago, TJ Otzelbarger has done nothing but win and bring the Cyclones to the NCAA Tournament every year. Furthermore, his team is positioned as a hidden horse to reach the championship game this month.

Similar to Brad Underwood at Illinois, if given the resources North Carolina has, Otzelburger could get the program back to becoming a consistent contender to reach the Elite 8 every year.

Mark Few, Gonzaga

North Carolina
Craig Strobek-Imagen Images

Mark Few is the greatest coach in Gonzaga history and transformed the program into a recognized name in college basketball during his 26-year tenure. He is the king of the mid-majors, and there has always been talk of a move to a top program. But he is good friends with the Bulldogs and has nothing to leave behind.

However, North Carolina is one of the few programs that would seriously consider him leaving Spokane. Furthermore, it would give him the best chance to achieve the one thing he has yet to achieve: winning a national championship.

Tom Thibodeau, former Knicks head coach

North Carolina
Trevor Ruszkowski-Imagen Images

Although he has never won an NBA title or reached the Finals, Tom Thibodeau has consistently been one of the better coaches in the NBA for the past 15 years. He proved this by bringing the New York Knicks back to relevance during this decade and making it to the Conference Finals last season. Unfortunately, the high standards he set and the franchise’s decades-long title drought led to him being unfairly fired last spring.

Like Malone, he could be coached in the NBA and be ready to make the jump to the college ranks to take full control of a program. The 68-year-old is always busy working and diving head first into the roster-building process while building a serious culture for the program.

6 WWE legends we want to induct into the 2026 Hall of Fame class along with AJ Styles, including Ken Shamrock

The WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2026 is well on the way, with AJ Styles, Stephanie McMahon, Dennis Rodman and Demolition announced for induction next month. This is one of the strongest classes for the Hall in recent memory, but what if they could add even more star power? What if WWE makes another change?

Today, we’ll take a look at five names deserving of going into the WWE Hall of Fame and being honored by their peers and fans alike on WrestleMania 42 weekend.

Victoria

Credit: WWE

Victoria doesn’t get enough credit for making women’s wrestling what it is today. She may not have been the most charismatic or had the greatest promo, but when she stepped inside that squared circle, she could go with anyone. More importantly, she can make anyone shine if she wants to.

She helped elevate the women’s division at a time when WWE did not want to do so, and helped create stars like Lita and Trish Stratus. Victoria was also extremely important to the TNA Knockouts division, helping to make it what we know today.

ken shamrock

wwe hall of fame

Ken Shamrock was inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame a few years ago and now it’s time for him to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. €20 million including bonuses – Director at Tottenham, transfer talks begin, ridiculous price

tottenham
BILBAO, SPAIN: 05 17 2025: Guglielmo Vicario, Pedro Porro and Micky Van de Veen are seen during the UEFA Europa League 2025 final game between Tottenham Hotspur FC and Manchester United FC.

Talk about Guglielmo Vicario’s Tottenham future has only increased in recent weeks. Inter Milan are now stepping up their pursuit of the goalkeeper.

on thursday, sports witness Calciomercato covered claims about Nerazzurri sporting director Piero Ausilio’s visit to London. The intention was to get the ball rolling for a deal involving the goalkeeper.

Contact between the parties was expected, with the director also having watched several Champions League games in England this week.

Now, gazzetta dello sport Add more details about the player’s future and Ausilio’s activities during his stay in the English capital.

Tottenham player’s agent meets Ausilio

The newspaper report described the situation as a ‘flight to London’, adding that Ausilio was at Tottenham’s Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid.

He was accompanied not only by his assistant Dario Bacin but also by Vicario’s agent Gabriele Giuffrida. The Italian has been described as an international mediator and someone who had excellent relations with Ausilio. He has helped the Nerazzurri several times in the past and could also help Spurs with a deal for the player.

During the meeting, both sides informed each other about the Tottenham goalkeeper. It is believed that Giuffrida will be partly instrumental in convincing Spurs to agree to a good deal.

The 29-year-old is keen to leave the London side and is expected to pay a price, say Gazzetta €20m. It is believed that this agreement can be reached using bonuses that will reassure Igor Tudor’s side.

To clarify this, Gazzetta dello Sport reports: ‘Vicario turns 30 in October and could be acquired for a fee in excess of €20m, possibly reaching that figure through modest bonuses.’

so it’s €20m Involved Bonus, which seems extremely optimistic on the part of Inter Milan.

Giuffrida keys into Tottenham exit

william vicar

Inter Milan are making every effort to establish the foundations for a deal.

Currently, Giuffrida also represents another Tottenham player in Radu Dragusin and has great influence in the Italian market. Given his experience, it is no surprise that he is being trusted.

Apart from this, the wishes of the player are also being taken into consideration and he is motivated to move forward.

Vicario’s current deal expires in 2028, making 2026 a good time to sell him. Now he is approaching 30 and there are many younger and better goalkeepers in the market for Tottenham.

10 Las Vegas NBA Team Name Ideas As The Franchise Gets Even Closer To Reality, Including The Sinners

With the NBA doing big business over the past few years, the idea of expansion is a topic that has gained a lot of momentum. While many American cities would love to get an NBA franchise, Seattle and Las Vegas have long been favorites to win the sweepstakes.

Well, this week, the pair of cities took another big step closer to becoming a reality when ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the league’s Board of Governors will soon vote on exploring the idea of putting franchises in Seattle and Las Vegas starting in 2028.

It’s a sure bet that this Northwestern team will be a revival of the SuperSonics. However, the Las Vegas club will need an entirely new brand. With that in mind, we present some fun, funny, and logical ideas for what the new NBA team in Las Vegas should be called.

las vegas dry heat

Las Vegas is located near several Nevada deserts, including the Mojave. The dry climate is a major part of living in the city. So why not play with that regional specialty? It’s already summer in Miami due to the hot and humid temperatures in South Florida. Maybe Las Vegas needs to bring the NBA the Dry Heats.

las vegas blackjack

las vegas

Las Vegas grew from the Nevada desert to become one of the biggest tourist attractions on Earth as a top destination for entertainment and gambling. It’s possible that a new NBA team could get a nickname related to their highly successful casino. Since blackjack is one of the most popular casino games on the planet, Las Vegas Blackjack is the favorite sports bookmaker to become the club’s ultimate nickname.

las vegas sinner

Many major cities around the world have funny nicknames. Las Vegas is one of the best when it comes to being called Sin City. The wild things that happen there are why locals have long used the phrase, “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.” Why not play on that popular name and go with Las Vegas Sinners? A logo featuring a cute devil with a basketball could turn their merchandise into some of the most popular in sports.

las vegas bighorns

las vegas

Sports fans are accustomed to naming animals after their favorite teams. Las Vegas could be no different. That’s why one local mammal that can end up on their Jerseys is the bighorn sheep. The bighorn is the official state animal and can be turned into a very scary looking team logo.

las vegas gambler

As mentioned earlier, the casino business is what has made Las Vegas one of the top cities in the United States. So let’s not shy away from this fact and consider the Gamblers as a possible name for the team. Oddly enough, they would not be the first major pro sports team with this name as one of the current franchises of the UFL is the Houston Gamblers.

las vegas sidewinders

las vegas

Going back to the idea of using animals as the name of the city’s new NBA team, another interesting option would be Sidewinder. This snake is famous for its “S-shaped” sideways movement across the dunes in the Mojave Desert. Just like a star player has to make his way through the opposing defense. Snakes are great for logos, and this new franchise will corner the market for them in the NBA.

las vegas strippers/strips

las vegas
Credit: USA TODAY Sports

Even if you don’t live in the city, people across America know about the Las Vegas Strip. Why not play up that aspect of the city and call the team the Las Vegas Strips or the Strippers? It’s certainly different than anything seen in pro sports, and for fans dominated by mostly men, perhaps the name might bring up some positive thoughts about some time off after work.

las vegas jackpots

las vegas
Credit: USA TODAY Sports

As mentioned earlier, there is a strong possibility that this new franchise will get a casino-related name. If the ultimate owners of the club do not like gamblers or blackjack, jackpots can be another option. Slot machines are one of the most popular casino games in the world, and who doesn’t love a jackpot?

las vegas 702s

las vegas
Credit: USA TODAY Sports

In an era where people like to reflect where they are from by removing their city area code, another name would likely be 702. Sports fans are familiar with the 76ers and 49ers, so a number for the name is not unusual. Additionally, repeating the entire city, rather than some elements of it or the state, would be a refreshing way to approach the team name.

las vegas lebron/brony

las vegas
Kirby Lee-Images Images

It’s no secret that there’s a real possibility that LeBron James could own a new NBA franchise in Las Vegas. And he understands the immense value of his brand and unique name. He even passed it on to his son Bronny and got him drafted by the Lakers a year ago. Maybe he should take things a little further and put it on his team. The Las Vegas LeBron’s will be equal parts unique and hilarious.

5 Tyreek Hill landing spots in NFL free agency, including a Chiefs reunion

Tyreek Hill is looking for a new team in 2026. And when it’s all said and done, “Cheetah” is probably punching its ticket to Canton. But that’s down the road; Right now, he’s one of the biggest names on the free agent market.

Sure, he’s coming off a rookie year dealing with injuries and his off-field noise is on the rise, but don’t let it all go to waste, Hill can still fly. He was poised for another 1,100+ yard season with the Miami Dolphins before suffering a season-ending injury last year.

So the question now is, who is trying to sign the eight-time Pro Bowler? Let’s break down five potential landing spots for Tyreek Hill, including a spicy reunion with the Kansas City Chiefs.

new England Patriots

new England Patriots
Mark J. rebilas-imagen images

Stefon Diggs worked his way up as the New England Patriots’ WR1, but New England cut him loose to clear the cap and reload. And with more than $42 million to play for, they have the ammo to make a real effort toward another Super Bowl run. They brought in Romeo Dobbs, but let’s be honest – he’s a solid WR2/WR3 type of guy, not a guy who is taking over games week in and week out.

This is where Tyreek Hill flips the script. Is he a lock-in at WR1 at this level? Probably not. But in terms of ceiling? No one comes close in that room. Hill brings game-breaking speed, playoff pedigree and the kind of juice that instantly elevates an entire offense. For a team looking to quickly retool, it’s worth taking a swing.

kansas city chiefs

kansas city chiefs
Denny Medley-Images Images

At first glance, the Kansas City Chiefs’ WR room doesn’t look like a serious issue, but digging a little deeper reveals it’s not exactly loaded. The Chiefs are up against the cap and have just over $10 million on hand before any restructuring or cuts. But if there’s one place that really knows how to unlock extreme Cheetah — and keep chaos to a minimum — it’s Kansas City.

A reunion would make an impact on multiple levels: instant WR1 upgrade, proven chemistry, and a legitimate offensive reset for a team that is searching for that true deep threat again. If the Chiefs want to take another swing at a familiar superstar who is still in his prime window, this move seems perfect.

Baltimore Ravens

nfl
Jeff Hanisch-Imagen Images

Last season was a tough one for the Baltimore Ravens’ WR room. Outside of Ze Flower, there wasn’t much juice. Sure, Lamar Jackson missing time played a role, but even when he was there, the lack of perimeter firepower was glaring. That’s not going to cut it for a contender.

Now, Baltimore has a track record of throwing tires on veteran receivers—DeAndre Hopkins, Odell Beckham Jr., DeSean Jackson and Dez Bryant. But here’s the difference: Tyreek Hill, even though he’s having a shortened year due to injury, still seems to have more gas left in his tank than he did when he signed. If the Ravens want to add legitimate explosiveness without breaking the bank, this sounds like a classic low-risk, high-reward swing.

tennessee titans

tennessee titans
Stephen Lew-Imagen Images

Tyreek Hill, now 32, is still one of the league’s premier cap lifters, but the big question is the knee. If he has fully recovered from last year’s early-season injury, this is a move that could completely unlock the Tennessee Titans’ vertical game overnight.

Speed, explosiveness, game breaking ability? It is still there. The key is to structure a smart, team-friendly deal full of incentives. For Titans, it’s really about identity. Do they keep building young and playing the roster at a slower pace, or do they land a proven vet who could turn the game right now? If they’re serious about turning things around in the AFC South, betting on Hill’s turnaround could be the spark they need.

los angeles chargers

travis kelsey
Denny Medley-Images Images

The Los Angeles Chargers offense lacks a true field-tilter. Drop Tyreek Hill in that unit, and the problem will be solved overnight. The defense will have no choice but to sit in the two high circles, and that’s music to Justin Herbert’s ears. This opens up the entire game, allows the offense to breathe, and fully highlights the talent of Herbert’s arm. Hill is built for motion-heavy looks, quick hitters and YAC-driven concepts — and guess what? He’s already baked into the Chargers system. It’s just like plug-and-play.

5 Deebo Samuel landing spots in NFL free agency, including a 49ers reunion

NFL front offices have been at it all week as the new league year officially kicked off on Wednesday, awarding a staggering $5.83 billion in contracts, with nearly $2.3 billion agreed to in the first eight hours of negotiations. It’s safe to say the general manager came out swinging.

The market has cooled off a bit since the initial buzz, but many influential players are still sitting on the board waiting for their next snap. One of the biggest names still looking for a new home is Washington Commanders wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr.

Samuel stepped in as Washington’s top target last season while Terry McLaurin battled injuries, making 72 catches for 727 yards and five touchdowns. He also gained 75 rushing yards and another score, although that rushing total marked a career low in seasons where he played at least eight games.

Nevertheless, Deebo is still one of the league’s most versatile offensive weapons – a true “wide back” who can line up anywhere and stress the defense in a variety of ways. So where might he land next? Here are the five teams that make the most sense for Samuel in free agency.

denver broncos

travis kelsey
Stephen Lew-Imagen Images

The Denver Broncos have been one of the quietest teams so far on the free agency wire. In fact, they are the only NFL team that did not sign any outside free agents during Week 1, which has certainly raised some eyebrows around the league. But maybe Sean Payton is waiting to get his shot.

For years, people around the NFL have tried to connect Deebo Samuel to Payton’s offense. Now, for the first time, that pairing is actually possible. Payton has long talked about wanting a weapon that can do it all, that can line up anywhere, move through formation and handle pressure on defenses on every single snap. Deebo’s name may also be mentioned in that description.

san francisco 49ers

san francisco 49ers
Mark J. rebilas-imagen images

Who says you can’t run it back? A reunion with the San Francisco 49ers suddenly doesn’t seem so crazy. San Francisco has some serious question marks in the wide receiver room heading into the 2026 season. Brandon Aiyuk’s time with the team appears to be over, Javon Jennings is testing free agency, and Ricky Pearsall still hasn’t been able to stay healthy.

On top of that, the offense could be without George Kittle, who is dealing with an Achilles injury that could sideline him for a large portion of the 2026 campaign. That leaves a lot of firepower for Kyle Shanahan’s offense. A return to the Gulf would make a lot of sense. Samuel already knows Shanahan’s system inside and out, and he has built a strong chemistry with Brock Purdy from their previous stints in San Francisco.

Baltimore Ravens

nfl
Jeff Hanisch-Imagen Images

The Baltimore Ravens could reload their pass-catching group this offseason. If that happens, Baltimore will need another dynamic weapon in the passing game – and Samuel fits the bill perfectly. Samuel would give the Ravens a versatile chess piece who can line up in the slot, outside, or even take snaps out of the backfield.

While Zay Flowers will still lead the receiving corps, Samuel could quickly take on a major role and become one of Lamar Jackson’s favorite playmakers. And honestly, Deebo feels just like a raven. His bruising, physical style – whether he’s breaking tackles as a receiver or lowering his shoulder on designed runs – fits perfectly into Baltimore’s smash-mouth identity.

new England Patriots

NFL: Atlanta Falcons at New England Patriots
eric kanha-imagen images

The New England Patriots are in need of a reliable wide receiver, making Samuel an obvious target if they want to add some firepower. Samuel, like Stefon Diggs, would slide well as a do-everything weapon in the Patriots’ offense, and would be a perfect fit for Drake Mays. Imagine the situation if New England took out Deebo Samuel and Romeo Doubs on the same field.

kansas city chiefs

kansas city chiefs
Denny Medley-Images Images

The Kansas City Chiefs have needs in the passing game. Sure, they still have Travis Kelce, but Patrick Mahomes could definitely use another dynamic weapon on the outside. This is where Samuel comes in. Kansas City has quietly emerged as an interesting landing spot for the veteran playwright. Samuel’s ability to line up in the slot or even take handoffs out of the backfield seems tailor-made for Andy Reid’s playbook. Reed likes versatile weapons he can move around formations, and Samuel will give the Chiefs a more gadget-style threat that can turn short touches into pieces.

The latest news on the Patriots’ AJ Brown trade pursuit, including when it should happen

A new report seems to suggest the New England Patriots acquiring AJ Brown in a trade isn’t a matter of if, but simply a matter of when.

After being decisively defeated by the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl, the Patriots are making every effort to improve the roster and become the rare team to bounce back in the big game after a loss. Without a doubt, acquiring a bigger weapon in the pass game, especially after releasing Stefon Diggs, is a top priority this offseason.

Not surprisingly, the franchise has been linked to a trade for Philadelphia Eagles star receiver AJ Brown for several weeks. And a recent report suggested New England had even offered first- and third-round picks to the three-time Pro Bowler. However, the Eagles are looking to return at least a first and second rounder.

With the price being so high, there has been much discussion that Philadelphia could still hold on to Brown despite the obvious disappointment with his usage during the 2025 season. However, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, multiple league sources have described a trade from Philly as “inevitable”.

New England Patriots remain favorite in AJ Brown trade market

Patriot
Bill Streicher-Imagen Images

Furthermore, Florio says most people believe the Eagles are planning to move Brown after June 1, because, as one source explained, “The Eagles would be looking at a potential cap disturbance in 2027 if they keep Brown through 2026.” But how good are the chances for the Patriots to complete the trade when there are so many other interested teams, including the Los Angeles Rams?

Well, that sounds pretty good. An NFL insider claimed, “The Patriots remain in play despite the recent addition of former Green Bay Packers receiver Romeo Doubs. A source anticipates the Patriots will be the final destination.”

“Regardless, the fact that a trade hasn’t happened doesn’t mean it won’t happen. Signs continue to point towards it happening. The only question is if the Eagles decide to wait until after June 1 to make the deal official.”

New rumor reveals Clippers fine for Kawhi-aspiration scandal, including lost draft picks

A new rumor offers a major update on the potential penalty the NBA will hand out to the Los Angeles Clippers in regards to potential salary cap manipulation for signing Kawhi Leonard in 2019.

The Clippers and owner Steve Ballmer found themselves embroiled in an ugly scandal last year when investigative reporter Pablo Torre broke the news about potential salary cap manipulation by the organization. Obviously, when the team signed Leonard to a three-year, $103 million deal in the summer of 2019, it included a huge amount of off-the-books payment.

During his investigation, Torre found documents that showed the Clippers boss helped create a dummy company called Aspiration, which signed the star forward with a $28 million endorsement deal. Yet he never made any presentation on behalf of the brand. The support price was suspiciously close to making up the difference between what the Clippers could legally make and the maximum competing offer from the Toronto Raptors.

Following the damaging report, the NBA launched an investigation into LA’s possible dirty dealings in signing the seven-time All-Star. Although there has been no update on when a final decision might come from the league, there has been a lot of speculation about what the potential punishment could be for the Clippers. Well, it may have been revealed this week.

LA Clippers could lose 3 first-round picks due to Kawhi Leonard-aspiration scandal

shears
petre thomas-imagen images

During a new edition of the SiriusXM show starting lineupHosted by Frank Isola and NBA veteran Brian Scalabrine, NBA Insider claimed that sources told them the Clippers could lose three future first-round picks, and could also receive a monetary fine of up to $30 million.

Los Angeles has only three first-round selections in the next five NBA drafts. However, this may change depending on the trades made in the previous month. In any way. For a franchise that began its rebuild this year, losing three first-rounders could set the franchise back by nearly a decade.

7 WWE stars we want Dannhausen to see next, including Roman Reigns

When AEW alumnus Danhausen made his WWE debut at Elimination Chamber, he was warmly welcomed by the fans in Chicago. This was probably due to hopes for someone else in the mystery box opened at the event. However, the Very Good, Very Bad character has quickly gained his fan following after entertaining performances on WWE Raw and SmackDown last week.

Proof of that came Monday when he got a standing ovation from the crowd as he handed out T-shirts during a commercial break in Seattle. Seeing who he faces next is now a fun element of the upcoming editions of Raw and SmackDown. With that in mind, we take a look at seven stars we can’t wait to see the next time Danhausen meets them.

Roman Reigns

Reigns showed during the Bloodline saga that he can take comedic moments and entertain. If he and Danhausen were put on camera together they would be better than many expected.

There is no character more deep, thoughtful and serious than the Undertaker. However, in retirement, he has taken a lighter approach and brought back his American Bad A** persona. This means he has a much better chance of appearing on screen with Danhausen.

Additionally, ‘Taker is now the person informing the Giants that he is going to the Hall of Fame, and Danhausen has included in one of his demands to sign with Raw or SmackDown, an encounter with “The Deadman” is a must.

And what is Danhausen’s opinion of the lawyer, the wise man, the oracle? It’s a strange and unexpected moment that WWE fans should enjoy.

Jacob Fatu is one of the best performers on the WWE roster at the moment. Rarely does he not scream and writhe here and there. But could he maintain the same level of intensity against Danhausen? And if he does, how does the new addition to the WWE roster react? Either way, the interactions between them can be quite hilarious.

Trick Williams is, arguably, the most cocky and confident performer in WWE today. That’s why the encounter with Danhausen must happen. No two characters are so opposite. Plus, WWE fans need to know what Danhausen thinks about Williams’ coat and of course his Lemon Peppa Steps.

Just imagine Danhausen wanting them and threatening to curse them if they didn’t get them?

Conor McGregor targets two BMF title fights in 2026, including clash with old rival

The fallout from UFC 326 has rekindled one of the top rivalries in combat sports, with Conor McGregor already paving the way for a third fight against Nate Diaz. Despite being left off the “UFC Freedom 250” White House card, “The Notorious” remained the center of conversation this weekend, specifically targeting the BMF belt held by Charles Oliveira.

McGregor was vocal in his criticism of Oliveira’s wrestling-heavy victory over Max Holloway. He believes the BMF title should return to its roots in the welterweight division.

“The BMF title was founded by Nate Diaz at 170 pounds. The creator of the belt,” McGregor said during a recent appearance on Smash Cast. “So, there’s a fight for the belt at 170 pounds, and I’m ready for it. I’ll go and take it, and I’ll bring it back, and Nate and I can complete the trilogy for the belt.” McGregor argued that losing weight to 155 pounds for a title that celebrates toughness was unnecessary.

Charles Oliveira, who earned a 50–45 clean sweep on the scorecards against Holloway to become the fourth BMF champion, was sharply criticized by both McGregor and Diaz. During the post-fight press conference at UFC 326, he dismissed McGregor’s social media posts calling the main event “shockingly bad”.

Conor McGregor Record: 22-6 (19 knockouts, 1 submission)

Oliveira made it clear that although his primary goal is to reclaim the undisputed Lightweight Championship, he is willing to accept a “money fight” against the Irishman at any weight.

“You want to put him at 170, you want to put him there, I don’t care, you want to put him at middleweight, we do it, it doesn’t matter,” Oliveira said. “I’ll tell you what – if you want it, make it a Grand Prix. Two fights, same day, and let’s see what happens.” Oliveira’s dismissive tone underlined his current position of power in the division, although he acknowledged that a fight with McGregor would be motivated solely by financial gain.

While McGregor’s ambitious plans for the BMF title and the Diaz Trilogy have his fans excited, the reality of his return remains complicated. UFC CEO Dana White said over the weekend that a deal is “not even close” to McGregor’s return despite the fighter’s claims. However, McGregor revealed on Smash Cast that his manager, Audie Attar, was in Las Vegas on Monday for a one-on-one meeting with UFC officials.

“I’m extremely good at tackling, I’m an honest guy,” McGregor said. “I hope a respectable offer comes.”

8 free agent landing spots, including the Chargers

Despite an apparent career decline at age 37, future Hall of Famer and Kansas City Chiefs legend Travis Kelce will return for his 14th NFL season in 2026. The Athletic first broke the news on Sunday night. However, they also report that the free agent tight end is not guaranteed to return to the only franchise he has ever played for.

“It is not certain whether the team he plays for will be the head of the team. Kelce’s representatives are expected to speak to multiple teams,” the outlet reports.

With the 11-time Pro Bowler set to return next season, let’s take a look at seven teams he could land with in NFL free agency this month.

houston texans

travis kelsey
Denny Medley-Images Images

The Houston Texans have a Super Bowl-caliber defense. However, their offense has held them back the past few seasons. They have a good quarterback in CJ Stroud, but they need more weapons. With $33 million in available cap space this offseason, according to Over the Cap, Kelce is a player who can make an impact while still staying in his price range. Don’t be surprised if Houston is a contender for a great finish to the month.

Seattle Seahawks

travis kelsey
Kirby Lee-Images Images

If Kelce is going to play in 2026, you can bet his goal will be to join a team with a legitimate shot at winning a championship next season. Well, the Seattle Seahawks are sure to be in contention again after winning their latest Super Bowl title last month.

Additionally, they have a good chunk of cap space this offseason and a clear need for more meaningful pass-game weapons to help take the load off star receiver Jackson Smith-Njigba.

los angeles chargers

travis kelsey
Denny Medley-Images Images

The Los Angeles Chargers have won 11 games and will have more than $90 million in cap space either way this offseason. In 2025, LA did not have a single receiver over 1,000 receiving yards. Kelce is unlikely to do it for them, but he will certainly draw attention and help a player like Ladd McConkey have an even better year in 2026.

The idea of Kelce playing for the Bolts and taking passes from Justin Herbert would be a stab in the back for Chiefs fans, but we’ve seen franchise veterans play for the enemy before. The best example is Green Bay Packers icon Brett Favre who suited up for the hated Minnesota Vikings his last two seasons.

kansas city chiefs

travis kelsey
Denny Medley-Images Images

Speaking of the Chiefs, it’s still very possible that Travis Kelce returns to Kansas City next season. He has freed up a good amount of cap space over the past few weeks and he would certainly command a discounted rate again to return for his final season.

If this is a transition season for the Chiefs as Patrick Mahomes returns from a torn ACL, Kelce being on a retirement tour could certainly lead to another disappointing year for KC.

New York Giants

travis kelsey
Stephen Lew-Imagen Images

Kelce will aim to be a contender in 2026. However, playing in New York and playing for a franchise like the New York Giants is always a draw for star players. Big Blue’s poor performance over the last three seasons should cause the future Hall of Famer to lose interest. However, there is a belief that the Giants could be much better in 2026 with new head coach John Harbaugh.

Young QB Jackson Darts needs more reliable weapons, and Kelce will definitely help. Offering his NFL swan song on New York’s big stage might have some appeal for the tight end if he doesn’t like the other offers he receives.

denver broncos

travis kelsey
Stephen Lew-Imagen Images

The Chargers may not be the only major foe that could come into play for Travis Kelce this offseason. If Bo Knicks had suited up in the AFC Championship Game, many NFL analysts believe the Denver Broncos would have defeated the New England Patriots. They therefore meet the criteria of being a serious title contender for next season.

Additionally, Evan Engram was a huge disappointment for Denver last season. If they sign Kelce, they could consider moving him, or go with an interesting and dangerous two-TE set in 2026.

Washington Commanders

travis kelsey
Jeffrey Baker-Imagen Images

One team hoping for a deep playoff run and salary cap space this offseason is the Washington Commanders. Additionally, tight end is expected to be a position they look to upgrade in the coming weeks.

After reaching the NFC Championship two seasons ago, fans saw how good Washington and star QB Jaden Daniels could be. Kelce could be one of the key offseason signings that gets the Commanders back into playoff contention this offseason.

retirement

travis kelsey
Kiyoshi Mio-imagen images

It’s very possible that Kelce hits free agency and doesn’t love the options or offers he receives. He has been retired for the past few seasons, and does not need to keep playing as his acting career is growing rapidly and his new heights Podcasts are extremely popular. It wouldn’t be shocking if Kelce takes a look at the free agent market and decides retirement is a better option.

4 players including Giddi, Buzzelis doubtful on injury report

The Chicago Bulls continue their road trip Sunday night when they face the Sacramento Kings at Golden 1 Center. Chicago is entering the matchup with two wins from its last three and will look to carry the momentum against the 14-50 Kings.

However, they will have to do so with several key injuries, with Josh Giddy, Matas Buzelis, Jalen Smith and Patrick Williams all listed as questionable on the official injury report. Giddy and Bouzelis are both dealing with right ankle sprains, while Smith and Williams are dealing with left shin and right quadricep sprains, respectively. Sacramento has lost three consecutive games and is struggling with several injuries.

Giddy’s availability is a game time decision. He was not involved in Chicago’s most recent win against the Phoenix Suns, but delivered a double-double of 20 points, 12 assists and eight rebounds in the two teams’ last meeting.

In their likely absence, Collin Sexton, who scored 30 against Phoenix, and Tre Jones will be expected to carry the offensive load. Meanwhile, the last time these two teams met, Bouzelis had 27 points and he wasn’t even involved in Chicago’s last game. Nonetheless, fans will hope that despite the potential absence, they have enough firepower to pull off another win.

After losing 11 consecutive games in February, the Bulls have won two of their last three games. They are currently completely out of the playoff race and need consecutive wins to get back into the picture.

Additionally, the Kings have dropped 20 of their last 22 games, which puts them firmly in the lottery race. They will also be without key players like Domantas Sabonis, De’Andre Hunter and Zach LaVine, and could suffer another loss at home.

10 stars the Raiders may target soon with $121 million in cap space and additional options including Evans and Hill

After several weeks of rumors, Max Crosby’s memorable tenure with the Las Vegas Raiders has officially ended. On Friday night, it was revealed that the Baltimore Ravens had won the sweepstakes for the five-time Pro Bowler and were sending their first-round pick to Las Vegas next month (14th overall) and their first in 2027.

According to Over the Cap, not only do the Raiders now have 11 picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, but they have moved up to No. 1 in cap space with $121.7 million. Las Vegas has a lot of holes to fill this offseason, but now they have the means to do so and add some big-name talent to the roster for new head coach Clint Kubiak.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at 10 impact players the Las Vegas Raiders could target on the free agent and trade block soon.

trey hendrickson

raiders
Sam Green/The Enquirer/USA TODAY Network via Imagine Images

While the Raiders got a great return in the deal for Crosby, they still lost one of the best pass rushers in the NFL. They need to fill that void if they hope to have any chance of being competitive in 2026. Since they have the most cap space in the league, Cincinnati Bengals star Trey Hendrickson should be an option.

There is certainly risk in the deal since he is three years older than Crosby. However, if he’s willing to sign a shorter deal (three years) for a higher annual average, it would make sense because they would absolutely replace Crosby, but they also have two first-rounders that they didn’t have a week ago.

mike evans

raiders
Bob Donnan-Imagen Images

With the Raiders expected to select Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 pick in April and start him in Week 1, the rookie will need some meaningful weapons to get used to. One of the best targets available in free agency this offseason is Tampa Bay Buccaneers great Mike Evans.

While the 32-year-old is showing clear signs of age-related decline, he is a year removed from consecutive trips to the Pro Bowl. Acquiring a reliable veteran target is essential for Las Vegas this offseason.

tyler linderbaum

raiders
Scott Galvin-Imagen Images

The Raiders offensive line has been a mess for years. After taking Mendoza with the No. 1 pick, it’s very possible to use the extra pick at 14 on an offensive lineman. But that shouldn’t be where the team’s line rebuild ends.

Three-time Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum is the best available on the free agent market this offseason and he needs to be a top target for the team. Making Mendoza a strong leader on the O-line is another important element that will help this rookie make a big impact in his first season.

Alvin Kamara

raiders
Jim Dedmon-Images Images

The Raiders will hope that 2025 first-rounder Ashton Jeanty has a better sophomore season for the team. However, pairing him with a good experienced player next season wouldn’t be a bad idea. That’s why New Orleans Saints great Alvin Kamara may be on Las Vegas’ radar.

Is he the player who went to the Pro Bowl in his first five seasons? No. But he’s still a difference maker, especially with his pass catching skills. He’s in the final year of his contract, Mendoza needs more weapons, and the Kamara-Ginty combo could be very bad for a year.

Alec Pierce

raiders
Thomas Shea-Imagen Images

Indianapolis Colts star Alec Pierce has quietly developed into a very good receiver in his first four seasons in the league. In 2025, he posted 1,003 yards, six touchdowns and an absurd 21.3 yards per catch average on just 47 receptions. At just 25 years old, he could be the hidden gem of this year’s free agent market.

The Raiders may have to overpay to get him, but Pierce has serious upside, and he could form a great combo with Mendoza for the next five years.

jaylen waddle

raiders
Sam Navarro-Imagen Images

The Miami Dolphins have been in sell-off mode for the past few weeks. While there is talk that they would like to keep Jaylen Waddle, the Raiders should consider inquiring about a trade. Giving up one of the first rounders they got in the Crosby trade would be a big buck, but it’s a return Miami will definitely consider.

Although he hasn’t been a Pro Bowler, he has three 1,000+ yard seasons on his resume, he’s only 27 years old, and is locked in at a fair amount of money until 2028. Waddle will be needed for legitimate WR1 Mendoza.

trent williams

raiders
Eric Hartline-Imagen Images

San Francisco 49ers veteran Trent Williams and the team have reached a standoff over his 2026 contract. They want him to take a pay cut, and he has no interest despite going to the Pro Bowl 12 times for the franchise. Release or trade is possible.

At 37 years old, he doesn’t have many miles left on his tires. But even after becoming a Pro Bowler again in 2025, he still has a lot of work left to do. Getting Mendoza an elite offensive tackle, even if just for a year or two, would be a huge benefit to the young man’s development.

alonte taylor

raiders
Brett Davis-Imagen Images

Another player who should be on the Raiders’ radar is former Saints second-round pick Alonte Taylor. The 27-year-old was a starter the past three seasons and showed his versatility covering both outside and slot receivers. He should come at a reasonable rate and is at his peak. Getting better in the secondary, especially if they can’t adequately fill the Crosby void, is a need for Las Vegas this offseason.

Marvin Harrison Jr.

raiders
joe camporial-images

Arizona Cardinals receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., a first-round pick, has disappointed in his first two seasons in the league after being the fourth overall selection in the 2024 draft. This may simply be a system of how messed up the Cards’ offense was at that time. Still, the 6-foot-3, 220-pounder still has a lot of untapped potential.

With Arizona trying to turn things around, they may be willing to move Harrison Jr. for a second and third rounder in 2026 and beyond. Although that price would be risky, he is still under contract for two more years at a reasonable rate. If offensive coordinator Andrew Zanocco can utilize his potential, he could be a steal.

tyreek hill

raiders
Rich Story-Image Images

Another interesting option for the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason is eight-time Pro Bowler Tyreek Hill. There is no doubt that the future Hall of Famer can make a big impact for the team in 2026. But he’s coming off a torn ACL, so it’s unclear how much the injury will diminish his elite athletic ability. Especially at the age of 32. However, this means he could come in at a reasonable rate and would be worth a short-term deal.

5 Francis Ngannou UFC return fights we want after PFL release, including vs. Jon Jones

Francis Ngannou’s signing with the Professional Fighters League became an official failure on Friday. Three years ago, the former UFC heavyweight king had a falling out with the MMA world leader and decided to shake up the sport by taking his talents to the PFL. However, after only one tie in the league, both sides decided to end their relationship this week.

The news immediately sparked speculation about a possible return to the UFC. However, this will be very difficult given his poor relationship with the company’s CEO Dana White. However, with CFO Hunter Campbell having a huge role in the promotion, he may decide to do what’s best for the business and try to bring “The Predator” back if the price is right.

If Ngannou and the UFC can work out their issues and plan a return to the Octagon, here are five bouts we’d love to see in 2026 and 2027.

Francis Ngannou vs. Jon Jones

john jones
brad penner-image images

While there are rumors of a clash between MMA icons Jon Jones and Alex Pereira at the UFC White House card in June, fight fans have wanted a bout with Francis Ngannou for years. There were definitely talks of a fight when the King of Cameroon was still the heavy king. But they could never get the deal across the finish line.

With Ngannou now having less leverage, it may be far easier to get a contract signed for a blockbuster matchup.

Francis Ngannou vs. Tom Aspinall

Tom Aspinall
Per Haljestam-Imagen Images

If Jones is no longer interested in a fight with Ngannou, another easy pivot would be to a matchup with current champion Tom Aspinall. Apparently, the Englishman needs to get his eyes back to normal after the surgery he had last month. However, if he can return to full health, there will be plenty of interest in booking two of the most influential legends of the last five years.

Francis Ngannou vs. Alex Pereira

alex perera
Stephen R. sylvany-imagen images

If Pereira vs. Jones takes place, and the Brazilian wins, his next goal will be to remain at heavyweight and make history by becoming the first UFC fighter to win titles in three divisions. If Aspinall is still not ready to fight, it would not be a surprise if Pereira and Ngannou are placed in an interim title fight.

Seeing Pereira in the same cage as the heavyweight Ngannou will be a sight to behold and a must-see for fight fans.

Francis Ngannou vs. Sergei Pavlovich

sergey pavlovich
Nathan Ray Siebeck-Imagen Images

If the UFC doesn’t want to push Francis Ngannou into his first title fight, his plan would be to face one of the division’s contenders. That’s why Russia’s Sergei Pavlovich would be a possible option. He is almost as big and powerful as the former heavyweight champion. So the matchup will be a great test for Ngannou’s comeback. Additionally, this fight would be a huge co-main event for any upcoming numbered UFC event.

francis ngannou vs tyson fury

tyson fury
joe camporial-images

If the UFC re-signs Ngannou, one direction outside the box he could go would be a clash in the Octagon with Tyson Fury. There was a fight between these two in a boxing match three years ago and the Cameroonian player caused the biggest upset in history. There has been an uproar regarding the rematch for a long time. Doing it in MMA – a sport in which the Englishman has often competed – would make sense.

With White running Zuffa Boxing, a trilogy fight could take place in the ring, or it could be part of a two-fight, two-sport deal between the boxing giant and parent company TKO Group Holdings.

The Washington Commanders are going to be flush with cash this offseason, with a new report claiming they are willing to spend every bit of it and go after some top names on the open market.

According to ESPN’s John Keim, “Although the Commanders will not spend recklessly, if there is a player they want who makes the most money on the market and is considered a good fit, they will spend to get him this offseason”.

The Commanders are one of the five teams with the most cap space this offseason. However, they also have a lot of roster spots to fill, so they can’t throw all their cash at the top talent on the market. But they could bring in several high-impact veterans from next week.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at six big-name or impactful players the Washington Commanders could pursue in NFL free agency.

That area is around the corner, with Keim claiming the organization will look to “aggressively” look at upgrades in the coming weeks. An intriguing option is former New Orleans Saints second-rounder Alonte Taylor. The 27-year-old was a starter last season and showed his versatility covering both the outside and slot receivers. He should come at a reasonable rate and is at his peak. In Dan Quinn’s system, he has Pro Bowler potential.

Stefon Diggs, WR

Commanders
Mark J. rebilas-imagen images

Are Stefon Diggs’s best days behind him? Yes, but in Washington, a player viewed as a leader for the AFC champion New England Patriots doesn’t need to be a WR1. In his first season after tearing his ACL, he posted over 1,000 receiving yards. A case can be made that he will get even better in the next year of recovery from injury. That means the Commanders can get him at a reasonable rate – after being cut by the Pats this week – and get a ton of bang for the buck.

Chig Okonkwo, TE

Commanders
Andrew Nels/The Tennessean/USA TODAY Network via Imagen Images

While it won’t be the primary focus of the offseason, the Commanders will be aware of the tight market this offseason, and according to Keim, Tennessee Titans veteran Chig Okonkwo is a possibility.

The fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft has shown solid promise in his first four seasons in the NFL. While his stats don’t jump off the page, with bigger roles and star receivers garnering more attention, his speed and ability to make plays after the catch could make him a big contributor to the Commander’s offense in 2026.

Trey Hendrickson, DE

Commanders
Sam Green/The Enquirer/USA TODAY Network via Imagine Images

Cincinnati Bengals pass rusher Trey Hendrickson is the biggest fish on the NFL free agent market this month. Additionally, EDGE is another post that commanders are reportedly willing to spend big on improving. When healthy, there have been few better pass rushers than Hendrickson in the NFL since 2020.

There is certainly risk in giving a big deal to a player with two 17.5 sack seasons on his resume at age 31 and after playing in only seven games last season. However, he immediately turns one of the worst defenses in the league last year into something much better.

Kenneth Walker, RB

Commanders
Mark J. rebilas-imagen images

Another area the Commanders are expected to target this offseason is the running back spot. There’s a good chance that Austin Ekeler is waived, leaving Zachary Croskey-Merritt as the only RB on the roster. Washington could certainly look to add some more in the draft. However, the other option would be Super Bowl MVP, Kenneth Walker.

He has been an above-average player in the backfield since entering the league in 2022 and played a key role in the Seattle Seahawks’ championship run in 2025. He is a very reliable runner but is also a threat in the pass game. Running backs are getting very few paydays right now, they could add a reasonable number compared to the going rate for top NFL free agents.

Jaylen Phillips, EDGE

Commanders
Eric Hartline-Imagen Images

If the cost of signing Hendrickson is too high for the Washington Commanders, a backup option would be six-year veteran Jaylen Phillips. He is a talented player who can be both an edge setter and pocket disrupter from the linebacker spot. He will be a top target this offseason, and the only thing that could hurt Washington’s chances is if a bidding war is created by teams that miss out on Hendrickson.

5 trade targets for the New England Patriots in 2026, including AJ Brown

The New England Patriots need to improve their roster despite making the Super Bowl. The Patriots lost to the Seattle Seahawks in Santa Clara, exposing the team’s weaknesses. Now, it’s clear that New England needs a dominant wide receiver, EDGE rusher, and offensive lineman.

Below, we break down five trade targets for the Patriots during the 2026 NFL offseason!

AJ Brown, WR, Philadelphia Eagles

NFL: NFC Wild Card Round-San Francisco 49ers at Philadelphia Eagles
Bill Streicher-Imagen Images

The Patriots are targeting Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown; However, it must be at the right price. The asking price for Brown is high, and the Patriots have some wiggle room. Does New England pounce on the opportunity to acquire a top wide receiver or wait for a trade that doesn’t require as much draft capital?

max crosby, edge, las vegas raiders

NFL: Chicago Bears at Las Vegas Raiders
Kiyoshi Mio-Imagen Images

Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Max Crosby has been in trade rumors even before the 2025-26 NFL season ends. Crosby needs a change of scenery and the Patriots need an EDGE rusher to sack the quarterback. The asking price for Crosby is high, but getting an elite pass rusher will be worth it.

George Pickens, WR, Dallas Cowboys

NFL: Dallas Cowboys at Las Vegas Raiders
Kirby Lee-Images Images

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens might be the best trade target for the Patriots. Dallas franchise tags Pickens; However, if both sides do not reach a contract extension, it could open the door to a trade. If it is successful, New England should have the opportunity to acquire a true number one wide receiver.

Jonathan Greenard, LB, Minnesota Vikings

NFL: Houston Texans at Minnesota Vikings
Brad Rempel-Imagen Images

The Minnesota Vikings are listening to trade offers on Jonathan Greenard, and he would be an excellent fit in New England. Last season, Greenard only had three sacks in 12 games, but he had at least 12 sacks the previous two years. The Vikings linebacker will upgrade the Patriots’ defense next season.

DJ Moore, WR, Chicago Bears

NFL: Cleveland Browns at Chicago Bears
David Banks-Imagn Images

Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore may not be on the same level as Brown and Pickens, but he will be a big boost for New England. Given the number one target for Patriots quarterback Drake Mays, Moore won’t cost as much as top-tier wide receivers. Moore is a 1,000-yard wide receiver and will help lead New England’s offense.

Report Details Mess Inside Raiders Front Office, Including One Hating Tom Brady Minion

A wild new report details the messy situation inside the Las Vegas Raiders that has alienated top star Max Crosby, including a teammate of Tom Brady who has few fans in the organization.

One of the biggest stories in the NFL as we approach the start of the new league year is the future of Raiders star pass rusher Max Crosby. During a rough stretch in franchise history, the seven-year veteran has been one of the few bright spots as he has earned Pro Bowl honors each of the last five seasons.

Unfortunately for the 28-year-old, his efforts have mostly gone in vain as the Raiders have reached the playoffs only once during his tenure. Additionally, he has had five different head coaches, and it could be six if he remains with the organization in 2026. It’s understandable why Crosby would be frustrated and want out.

Raiders aren’t consulting Crosby during trade talks

raiders
Kiyoshi Mio-Imagen Images

However, Crosby has remained loyal to Raiders fans despite consecutive losses. But the team threw him into the deep end when he requested that he miss the final two games of the season as they vie for the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft. Which he did. Nevertheless, this caused a rift between the team and Crosby and it was expected that he would soon be traded. Or maybe not.

According to a new report from Michael Silver of The Athletic, the Raiders have made the process of moving the fan-favorite more “messy” than necessary despite overwhelming interest.

“The Raiders are not assuring him that he will accept the best offer he gets or asking him for input on where he would like to play,” writes Silver. “Theoretically, this saga could extend to the draft – or even the season.

“If that happens, it would continue a pattern of dysfunction that has plagued the Silver and Black throughout Crosby’s tenure, and which no sane superstar would ever welcome.”

Tom Brady’s servant is causing trouble at the Raiders facility

raiders
Tim Heitman-Imagen Images

However, an interesting piece of information in Silver’s report reveals another reason why Crosby has soured on the organization: minority owner Tom Brady’s top in-house minion, Alex Guerrero. The man with the title of “Wellness Coordinator” has surprising influence in the Raiders offices and has reportedly used his unusual power to rub many people in the organization the wrong way.

“Guerrero, who regularly attends practices and meetings, is claimed to have significant organizational power, informing players of impending transactions and even signaling to staff members who do not follow his instructions that their jobs may be in jeopardy,” Silver’s report said.

“Guerrero is believed to have direct access to Brady, who lives in Florida and serves as Fox’s lead NFL analyst, limiting his in-person appearances. Suffice it to say, trust issues are rampant at the Raiders’ training facility in Henderson, Nev.”

5 surprise predictions for WWE Elimination Chamber, including LA Knight’s big win

On Saturday night, WWE makes its final stop on the road to WrestleMania 42 with the 2026 edition of Elimination Chamber. This year’s event, of course, includes men’s and women’s Chamber matches to pit opponents for WWE Champion Drew McIntyre and WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill at April’s mega-event.

However, Becky Lynch will also put her Intercontinental belt on the line against her arch rival AJ Lee and CM Punk will defend the World Heavyweight Title against Finn Balor. There will definitely be a surprise or two in the company’s latest premium live event. With that in mind, we offer five predictions for potential surprises in the Elimination Chamber.

Dominic Mysterio defeated Finn Balor and CM Punk

elimination Chamber

Trouble has been going on inside Judgment Day for months. However, despite the ups and downs and injuries the group has remained united. However, it looks like a break is on the way and it is likely that Baylor will be out.

He is certain to lose his title rematch with Punk on Saturday. But will he lose clean for the second time in a row? It wouldn’t do the Irishman any favors if the company wanted to change his status and set up a special match at WrestleMania. Don’t be surprised if it costs his brother, Dom Mysterio, their match this weekend at Judgment Day, and it may not be due to an “accident.”

Raquel Rodriguez won the Women’s Elimination Chamber Match

elimination Chamber
Credit: WWE

Talking about Judgment Day, the bond between Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez was broken at the Royal Rumble when Liv Morgan eliminated the latter. Hopefully WWE will delve deeper into those issues and create a big controversy at Judgment Day on the road to WrestleMania.

Rodriguez is not a favorite to win the Women’s Chamber match on Saturday. But if he did, it would be interesting to have two members of the faction competing for championship gold at ‘Mania. Especially if one wins and the other doesn’t. Furthermore, Rodriguez deserves a major match at this event after some very good work over the past six months

LA Knight won the Men’s Elimination Chamber Match

Heading into Elimination Chamber 2026, reports suggest that Cody Rhodes will win the Men’s Chamber match. However, WWE fans don’t seem thrilled with the months-long feud between Rhodes and McIntyre continuing into April. And lower-than-expected ticket sales for WrestleMania may confirm that opinion. This match needs an unexpected winner.

This is why WWE could go in a completely unexpected direction and make fans happy by giving LA Knight a win in the Men’s Chamber match. This would add new excitement to ‘Mania and give Knight the push many fans have been wanting for the last year. It also allows the company to take Rhodes on unexpected paths to events.

Danhausen is Inside the Elimination Chamber Mystery Box

elimination Chamber
Credit: WWE

An outside-the-ring incident at Elimination Chamber reveals what is in the mystery box that cannot be opened until Saturday night. There has been much speculation about what or who might be inside, including a returning Chris Jericho.

However, reports claiming that “Y2J” is still under AEW contract make this unlikely. That’s why a different AEW alum may emerge, and that would be the very good and very bad guy known as Danhausen. Given that something has been inside the box for two weeks, it makes more sense for it to have a strange supernatural character. Not a living, breathing person.

AJ Lee defeated Becky Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental Title

elimination Chamber
Credit: WWE

Since AJ Lee has been getting the better of Becky Lynch in their months-long rivalry, most expect the champion to successfully defend her title on Saturday night. However, we think the company is going in a different direction.

With Elimination Chamber taking place in Lee’s hometown of Chicago, it is more likely that he will get the win. A rematch would then be arranged at WrestleMania, where Lynch would seek revenge in the final match of their feud.

5 Options for Ryan Garcia’s Next Fight After Dominating Mario Barrios, Including Devin Haney Rematch

On Saturday night in Las Vegas, Ryan Garcia silenced his biggest critics with an outstanding performance against WBC welterweight king Mario Barrios. “King Ray” was on fire as he knocked down the champion in the first 23 seconds of the fight and easily won his first major title by unanimous decision.

This victory ended what had been a nightmare for him for the last few years. After a decision loss to Gervonta Davis in 2023, he bounced back with a win over Oscar Duarte, then scored a career-defining win over Devin Haney due to a drug suspension. After sitting out six months, he returned in May 2025 and suffered a major upset against Rollie Romero.

However, after Saturday night, Garcia is back in the driver’s seat and could be preparing for some big fights for the rest of 2026. With that in mind, let’s take a look at five potential opponents for the 27-year-old’s next fight.

rolando romero

You can bet the loss to Romo is still weighing heavily on “King Ray.” That night last May was a low point in his career, and it made his biggest haters feel even more vindicated. If the new champion really wants to put all of his recent troubles behind him, avenging his loss against Romero would certainly be a possibility.

shakur stevenson

Following his big win, he and pound-for-pound star Shakur Stevenson had a cordial face-off backstage to test fan interest in a potential fight. Due to Stevenson’s dominance at junior welterweight, moving up to seven pounds at welterweight is a possible scenario.

For Team Stevenson, Garcia would be a winnable fight and a chance to win a title in the second division. For Team Garcia, the matchup will be a big risk, but it provides an opportunity to gain P4P status.

Manny Pacquiao

Ryan Garcia
Stephen R. sylvany-imagen images

Boxing icon Manny Pacquiao returned to pro boxing last year at the age of 46 and in the eyes of many observers defeated Barrios for the WBC belt. However, the entertaining encounter was ruled a draw. If Garcia wants a winnable fight with a big-name opponent, “Pac-Man” is an option. And after the way he performed against Barrios last year, he’s a worthy foe even as he approaches 50.

devin haney

Ryan Garcia
Henrietta Wildsmith/The Times

Many people around boxing believe that this fight will be at the top of Ryan Garcia’s wish list for his next fight, which is a rematch with Devin Haney. In their first encounter, Garcia defeated his opponent three times. However, there is certainly reason to believe that his outstanding performance was medically enhanced.

Like the rematch with Romero, the second fight with Haney provides confirmation. But it’s also a chance to prove he’s a P4P fighter, and a chance to get another belt and aim to become unified champion at 147 pounds.

Liam Paro

boxing brawl
Credit: Joe Camporial-Imagen Images

Making a fight in boxing is always a tough challenge, so while fans would love to see Ryan Garcia in a matchup with Haney, Pacquiao or Stevenson, it’s also possible that negotiations may fall through. This is why a fighter like Liam Paro could become the next opponent of the new WBC champion.

The Australian is one of the top five fighters in the division at 27-1 and has picked up some big wins during his career. If Garcia can’t secure a matchup with a big name in his return, “The Prodigy” is a logical option.

5 rival options including Jake Paul

There has been speculation for months that Floyd Mayweather has serious money problems, which is why he is currently suing Showtime for $340 million. That’s why many believe he shocked the boxing world by announcing on Friday that he will end his ongoing exhibition tour and put his impressive 50-0 record in jeopardy with an official bout later this year.

“I still have what it takes to set more records in the sport of boxing,” Mayweather told ESPN after signing a contract with CSI Sports/Fight Sports. “From my upcoming Mike Tyson event to my next professional fight after that – no one will draw a bigger gate than my event, draw a larger global broadcast audience, and make more money with each event.”

So who could “Money” face after his planned exhibition clash with the heavyweight great? We present five possible options, including a very risky dream fight against Terence Crawford.

Manny Pacquiao

mayweather
Stephen R. sylvany-imagen images

There were rumors since last year that there could be a rematch of the 2015 fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao, which the American won. The first fight is likely to be the second most watched fight of all time, following “Pac-Man’s” return to the ring last year.

Additionally, Mayweather would like to fight fights that he feels he can win and remain undefeated. A rematch with Pacquiao would be his best chance to do that while also making money.

Terence Crawford

mayweather
Steven Branscombe-Imagen Images

Mayweather may be so desperate for a big payday that he may be willing to risk the thing he loves most – his 50-0 record. A fight that will generate the most interest and present the most risk will be the fight with Terence Crawford.

Crawford will be a huge favourite, and his name value is as strong as ever after winning his super-fight with Canelo Alvarez last year. The marketing of two of the greatest players of their generations and a 50-0 vs. 42-0 fight will definitely appeal to longtime fight fans.

jake paul

mayweather
Sam Navarro-Imagen Images

You can bet that there will be a potential fight for Floyd Mayweather with Jake Paul. Especially if he shows he can handle the size difference in a fight against Tyson. Despite the difference in weight, Paul is another low-risk option and brings a larger fan base. Additionally, many believe the fight will be easier to sell after Mayweather defeats his older brother Logan Paul in a 2021 exhibition bout.

aamir khan

mayweather
sarah stier-imagen images

While Mayweather faced many stars of his era, one big name with whom he never clashed was English star Aamir Khan. While the 39-year-old walks away from the game in 2022, he is often asked about a comeback and he seems ready for it for the right fight and the right money. A scrap with the greatest boxer of his era on a platform like Netflix will surely bring him out of retirement.

keith thurman

mayweather
Joe Camporial-Imagen Images

Floyd Mayweather may be facing a relevant name competing at a higher level this time around. However, as mentioned earlier, this would be a strategically smart choice that gives him a better chance of winning. That’s why a matchup with Keith Thurman would be a possibility.

The former WBA and WBC champion is a top-five fighter at junior middleweight/super welterweight and will face Sebastian Fundora for the WBC belt next month. At 37 years old, he is in the final years of his career and would offer a name opponent in an age range that would be a better fit for “Money”.

6 ideas for a WWE mystery box set that opens at Elimination Chamber, including a new Hardcore title

Wrestling fans love a good mystery, and WWE has one set for this month’s Elimination Chamber premium live event. On this week’s edition of WWE Raw, a mysterious box arrived on the Box Stage with a note that it would not be opened until February 28, which is the date of Elimination Chamber.

Ever since the mystery box arrived, there has been speculation about who or what would be inside it. With that in mind, we present six ideas for what WWE fans will find when the boxes open next Saturday.

Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho
Credit: AEW

Many fans and podcasters are hoping that the mystery box is somehow connected to the return of Chris Jericho. There have been rumors for several months that the WWE veteran’s AEW contract was set to expire at the end of 2025, and all signs were pointing towards a return to WWE this year. Bringing him back just in time for WrestleMania 42 makes sense.

However, a new report this week claims that he is still under contract with AEW after his contract expired last year. So the likelihood of him or anything related to him being in the box seems very slim.

denhausen

elimination Chamber
Credit: WWE

If there really is a person in the mystery box, it would make sense if they weren’t tied to real life. So it would require someone who has some supernatural elements in his character. That’s why it makes sense to have AEW veteran Danhausen in the box.

The box mirrors when Dracula is sent to England in the famous Bram Stoker book, and Danhausen is like a hilariously wrestling version of Nosferatu. If a creature is kept locked in that box for several weeks, it makes for a funny start to the beloved comedy-driven character.

New WWE Hardcore Championship

elimination Chamber
Credit: WWE

Many people have an assumption that the mystery box that is opened at the Elimination Chamber must contain a person, but it could be one thing, and that thing could be a new belt. However, instead of introducing a new title, it would not be surprising if the company brings back one of its former championships.

Considering how the box looks, the return of a hardcore title would be an ideal choice. That belt has long been a favorite among fans, but the type of matches it brought about was a unique aspect of the Attitude Era. Adding more violent matches to diversify the circus that is WWE and provide some talent a new path to fame would be a fun surprise on the road to WrestleMania.

‘Broken’ Matt Hardy and Brother Nero

elimination Chamber
Credit: WWE

Going back to the idea of a character with supernatural elements in the mysterious box. The second option is the unexpected return of the legendary duo, the Hardy Boyz. Recently, Matt Hardy claimed that the tag team will be on WWE TV again in 2026 after making several appearances on NXT last year.

But what if they came back to the company this time because their “Broken Universe” alter ego? Hardy being in TNA, but then the “Broken” version in WWE could be a fun confrontation and offer something unique for both brands. The characters that could potentially clash with Wyatt Six at WrestleMania could be something that will be established by his return.

New WWE European Title

elimination Chamber
Credit: WWE

In the past year, WWE has pushed hard into Europe and has begun doing live editions of Raw and SmackDown in major European cities. They have brought in even more European prospects in recent years.

That’s why now could be the right time for the return of the European title. When it comes to possible options for what’s in the mystery box, one possibility is the title being “shipped from Europe” for its return to WWE TV.

evil

Another guy who would be a wise choice to stay inside the box is former IWGP Champion EVIL. The longtime NJPW star reportedly recently became a free agent, and rumors claim he is linked to WWE. There are also some supernatural elements in his character. Therefore, the company is focused on how to present him to a North American audience unfamiliar with his work.

5 matches we want, including vs. the usos

The team, once known as the Hardy Boyz in WWE, has had a very successful run in their second stint with TNA Wrestling. Still, what makes this latest stint with the company different is TNA’s working relationship with his former employer. That relationship has allowed the Hardys to move to WWE to make occasional appearances in NXT.

However, Matt Hardy suggested last year that the pair would return to WWE TV again, and this week further raised that possibility.

“We’re constantly in talks with WWE about doing some more things. We’ll be doing a lot more with them,” Hardy told Metro UK. “The relationship with WWE has been great. Whenever we’ve interacted with Shawn Michaels, he’s been absolutely amazing. Triple H, whoever he is, has gotten along very well with all of us. I think you’re going to see some more good Hardy Boyz moments in WWE before it’s all said and done in 2026.”

With that in mind, we’ll take a look at five matches we need to see pit the Hardy Boyz against WWE talent in 2026.

hardy boyz vs the usos

uses
Credit: WWE

Jeff Hardy is 48 years old, and Matt Hardy is 51 years old. Their bump card is almost full, so they need to make the most of the time they have left in the industry. Therefore it is necessary to examine some historical clashes. The North Carolina brothers were, arguably, the best of their era. Therefore there has to be a competition with The Usos.

They are both siblings who will go into the WWE Hall of Fame and are the best of their generations. Before the Hardy Boyz are eliminated, they will have to face The Usos at least once.

hardy boyz vs wyat six

Wyatt sick
Credit: WWE

Matt Hardy has a history with Bray Wyatt, the deceased brother of Bo Dallas. When the elder Hardy used his “Broken Matt” character in WWE, he and the former WWE Champion held the tag titles. It feels right to have a conversation between the Hardys and the Wyatt Six. Especially if the brothers use their “broken” alternative versions. The clash of dark personalities can provide some entertaining television.

hardy boyz vs mft

MFT
Credit: WWE

With the Hardy Boyz being a family affair, it makes sense for them to meet Solo Sequoia’s family tree. However, more than that, if the Hardy Boyz are checking out dream matches, a confrontation with perhaps the best tag team in NJPW, Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa, would be something a lot of fans would love to see before they retire.

hardy boyz vs hank and tank

hank and tank
Credit: WWE

There’s a good chance that when the Hardy Boyz return to WWE, they will again be in NXT, where they have faced many teams. However, what they don’t have yet is Hank & Tank. The former NXT Tag Champions are the best team on the black-and-gold brand because they blend physicality, athleticism, and silliness. The NXT duo would benefit from rubbing shoulders with the Hardys.

hardy boyz vs new day

new day
Credit: WWE

Whenever The Hardy Boyz return to WWE, longtime WWE fans will be looking forward to another match against The New Day. Like The Usos, The New Day are also in the running as the best tag team of their generation. The fact that they have never faced the Hardys in a traditional tag match is criminal. For the sake of fans and wrestling history, this needs to change in 2026.

LA Lakers rumor reveals 7 potential offseason targets, including Giannis

A new report links the Los Angeles Lakers to seven different players as offseason targets, including a player who had one of the worst contracts in the history of NBA free agency, and is one of the game’s top stars at the moment.

The LA Lakers lead the playoff race in the Western Conference and are just a few games away from having the fourth-best record in the NBA. Suffice it to say, they’re still aiming for a deep run in the postseason this spring. However, that doesn’t mean the front office doesn’t also have an eye on the offseason.

After making the blockbuster trade for Luka Doncic last year, the organization has taken a surprisingly conservative approach. They’re not willing to give up a future first-round pick in a trade, and they don’t want to add any big contracts to their payroll so they can retain salary cap flexibility in the summer.

But expect them to be much more active in improving the roster around Doncic in the offseason. And according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Milwaukee Bucks icon Giannis Antetokounmpo will be on their wish list.

McMenamin reports, “The Lakers clearly see the appeal in Antetokounmpo and believe they would be one of the teams on a very short list if the Bucks ask to trade the star out of Milwaukee.” “A Western Conference executive tells ESPN he believes Antetokounmpo is the ‘big prize’ the Lakers are hoping to get should the Milwaukee Bucks decide to trade the 2021 NBA Finals MVP in the offseason.”

LA Lakers could target Quentin Grimes, Tobias Harris this summer

lakers
Lone Horwedel-Imagen Images

While the LA Lakers will look to pair Doncic and Antetokounmpo – two of the league’s top 10 best players – next season, completing a trade for the Greek giants will not be easy as they will be competing with at least a half-dozen other teams in the trade sweepstakes.

That’s why the LA Lakers will have other players on their radar this summer. According to McMenamin, there have already been internal discussions about pursuing restricted free agents Tari Eason and Peyton Watson.

When it comes to the unrestricted market, an NBA insider claims Andrew Wiggins, Tobias Harris, Quentin Grimes and Dean Wade are the players the organization will be looking for in the summer.

While Harris is a solid player, the five-year, $180 million deal he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2019 will go down as one of the worst signed contracts ever in free agency. In Philly, he averaged 17 points, 6 boards and 3 assists over his six seasons, as he earned $36 million annually.

Daytona 500 winners, losers including Tyler Reddick

The Daytona 500 officially kicked off the 2026 NASCAR season for the Cup Series on Sunday, with Daytona International Raceway offering a spectacular battle. Between crashes, podiums and the battle of the finals, some of the best drivers in NASCAR races today had mixed results.

Let’s take a look at our winners and losers from the Daytona 500.

Winner: Tyler Reddick

NASCAR Race Today, Daytona 500
Mark J. rebilas-imagen images

Tyler Reddick is back. Last season, he clearly wasn’t himself as he faced a 23XI Racing lawsuit against NASCAR that clouded his future while he and his wife were dealing with their newborn son’s dire medical condition. Fortunately, both issues have been resolved and Reddick is now the winner of the Daytona 500. On Sunday he only led one lap, but it was the only lap that mattered. Reddick’s move to move ahead of the field in the final seconds – snatching the lead as a large debris burst behind him – was a masterclass in driving. The No. 45 car has returned to its 2024 form, meaning Reddick is a legitimate championship contender this season.

Loser: BJ McLeod

Mark J. rebilas-imagen images

BJ McLeod gained a spot in the Daytona 500 field after Anthony Alfredo failed post-qualifying inspection. However, his luck was short-lived, as disaster struck just five laps into the Great American Race. A right-rear tire failure caused the No. 78 to spin sideways; The ensuing damage destroyed the braking system and forced him to end his day.

Winner: Bubba Wallace

Had William Byron not cut in front of him and forced a sudden deceleration – to which the No. 23 team did a great job reacting and avoiding a massive crash – Bubba Wallace would have finished in the top five at the Daytona 500. Nevertheless, he finished 10th, won Stage 2, and led the most laps in NASCAR’s season-opening race. Wallace seemed to have some good luck today, finding debris that his car may have been magnetized to in the past. What matters is that he looks like a top-10 driver once again on superspeedways, building on his success at the end of the season in 2024. Furthermore, he starts the season with a solid 37 points.

Loser: William Byron

There are a few reasons why no one has won the Daytona 500 three consecutive times; Bad luck almost always plays a role. William Byron entered Sunday in an unfavorable situation, after an incident in the Duel at Daytona forced him to use the backup car. Just five laps in, BJ McLeod suffered a tire failure and a subsequent crash just before the No. 24 led to Byron making heavy contact with the wall. The damage required three separate trips to pit road under caution. Afterwards, he crashed into the wall again and then got caught in the “major incident” resulting in even more damage at the end of Stage 2. However, all things considered, finishing in 12th place isn’t so bad, considering everything that came before it.

Winner: Shane van Gisbergen

Few would have assumed that the changes NASCAR made in 2026 — eliminating the “win-and-you’re-in” playoff format and reducing the number of road-course races — would keep Shane Van Gisbergen out of the Chase this year. At Sunday’s Daytona 500, SVG showed why that’s not the case. He didn’t just perform well on superspeedways; He led several laps and spent a significant portion of the race at the front of the field. He has clearly begun to master the art of oval racing, and today’s performance is the latest example of his improvement on the superspeedway. SVG is an even better driver than 2025. Unfortunately, his total points today will not show it because he has got into big trouble.

Loser: Chase Briscoe

Mark J. rebilas-imagen images

Coming off a highly successful first season in the No. 19 car with Joe Gibbs Racing, Chase Briscoe had a relatively strong Stage 1, leading 23 laps. Unfortunately, a run of luck struck him at the start of Stage 2. When Connor Zylisch got loose at the front of the field, the pack piled up and Ross Chastain got in front of Cody Ware’s right. Ware then broke loose and collided with Brisco. As the No. 19 slid down the infield and into the pit lane, it was T-boned by Austin Dillon. The damage caused Briscoe’s car to be sent to the garage for significant repairs, knocking him out of contention on Sunday. He would leave Daytona in last place among full-time drivers in points.

Winner: Zane Smith

nascar race today
Mike DiNovo-Image Images

In 2025, Zane Smith led only 22 laps in 36 races and failed to score a single stage win. He immediately changed his fortunes at the start of the 2026 campaign. By increasing his fuel while most of the field was pitting, Smith led nine laps and won Stage 1 to collect 10 points. It was a risky strategy – as evidenced by Noah Gragson running out of fuel shortly after – but Smith made it work, scoring his first career stage win and leading both the first laps at Daytona. Smith finished the day in sixth, marking a top-10 finish to start the season and demonstrating the potential for a breakout year.

Loser: Denny Hamlin

nascar race today
Mike Waters-Imagen Images

We’ll start with this: The Big One wasn’t Denny Hamlin’s fault. The No. 11 made an aggressive move to the high side in a tight gap, but Justin Allgaier reacted too late when attempting to block, causing a pileup behind Hamlin. This seems especially painful for the future Hall of Famer; After a disappointing performance in the duel, he returned to the front and set himself up for the Stage 2 victory. Allgaier’s mistake wiped out that progress, resulting in the destruction of 19 other cars. It’s been an extremely difficult year for Hamlin, both on and off the track. With 10 laps remaining, Hamlin again set himself up for a strong finish until his favorite young driver got by him. 23XI Racing’s Corey Heim contacted Hamlin and passed the No. 11 to teammate Christopher Bell. No. 20’s loss ended its day and No. 11 suffered its own loss. Ultimately, he finished the day in 31st place and possibly ruined any good feelings he had as a co-owner of 23XI Racing.

Winner: Chris Buescher

NASCAR Race Today, Daytona 500
Mike Waters-Imagen Images

Forced to start the race from the back of the field in the backup car, Chris Buescher showed why he is one of the most underrated drivers in NASCAR. The No. 17 fought hard to finish fifth in Stage 1 (6 points) and followed that up with a sixth-place effort in Stage 2 (5 points). Having collected the second-most stage points (11) earlier in the day, Buescher kept himself at the front of the field to finish seventh and demonstrate why he is a strong contender for top-eight points this year.

Loser: Connor Zylisch

NASCAR Race Today, Daytona 500
Mark J. rebilas-imagen images

Connor Zylisch is one of the best NASCAR prospects of the modern era, but the “broadcast curse” eventually gets to everyone. As the FOX crew began praising the 19-year-old for maintaining a top-three finish, the No. 88 broke loose and caused the first major crash of the day. Ultimately, the mistake was caused by Zylisch’s inexperience driving a Next Gen car on a superspeedway. He’ll learn with time, but the Daytona 500 humbles every driver, and Zylisch experienced that firsthand today.

Winner: 23XI Racing

nascar race today
Gary A. Vasquez-Imagen Images

Michael Jordan took NASCAR to court to overturn the system he believed to be flawed, resulting in a multi-million dollar settlement and teams eventually receiving permanent charters. Clearly, the hunger to win on NASCAR’s biggest stage remains through 2026. Jordan celebrates as 23XI’s Tyler Reddick wins the Daytona 500 with an incredible finish. The trophy is headed home, and Jordan can also be proud of the fact that Bubba Wallace finished 10th with a Stage 2 win, Corey Haim ran at the front of the field during the race, and Riley Herbst finished eighth. This is an impressive start to the 2026 season for 23XI Racing.

RELATED: Winner of 23XI Racing lawsuit, loser wins over NASCAR

Loser: Carson Hocevar

NASCAR Race Today, Carson Hocevar
Mike Waters-Imagen Images

Did Carson Hocevar offend the NASCAR gods at Daytona? Tire problems derailed his chances in the Truck Series, and a series of chaotic events forced him out of the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race on Saturday. Entering the final lap of the Daytona 500, the No. 77 was looking for his first career Cup Series win as the race leader. However, he was knocked out and pinned to the wall. Hocevar was effectively dead in the water at that point, losing control and ultimately finishing 18th.

RELATED: NASCAR Predictions 2026

Winner: Riley Herbst

nasacra race today
Mike Waters-Imagen Images

Ignore the circulating narrative: Tyler Reddick definitely had help from a teammate on the way to his Daytona 500 victory. However, one can show some leniency toward the team, as few expected it to be teammate Riley Herbst – who failed to record a single top-12 finish last season – who pushed the No. 45 to victory. Herbst played the best teammate role, using the No. 35 car to pass Reddick for the lead and then making sure Chase Elliott couldn’t make a desperate bid for the win. Additionally, Herbst secured eighth place for himself. While it is widely known that Herbst has entered the hot seat in 2026, this selfless performance will earn him significant credit within the 23XI organization.

Top 45 MLB free agency rankings 2022-’23, including Aaron Judge

The 2022 Major League Baseball season is in the books. We saw many of the top MLB free agents making impacts with their new teams throughout the season. After witnessing the 2022 MLB lockout shake-up free agency, that won’t be an issue in the 2022-’23 winter frenzy.

Baseball fans can look forward to some of the most exciting talent hitting the open market this offseason. Thanks to the likes of Aaron Judge, Trea Turner, and Rafael Devers not reaching extensions with their clubs, we’ll see huge contracts signed with plenty of big names on the move. And some have already reached deals for 2023.

Bookmark this page for updates throughout the season. Our rankings of the best MLB free agents in 2023 will be updated throughout the shopping spree.

When does MLB free agency start?

MLB free agents could already sign with a new team five days after the World Series wrapped up. The five-day period gives teams an exclusive window to negotiate with their impending free-agent talent.

RELATED: Listen to Sportsnaut’s MLB podcast ‘Replacement-Level Podcast

There is one new potential rule that could significantly impact many of the MLB free agents next winter. If the MLB and players’ union agree on a MLB World Draft – including international players – the league would eliminate draft-pick compensation tied to any players who reject a qualifying offer. It should be a boost for players, with interested teams no longer factoring in the negative of losing a draft pick for signing a free agent.

Will there be a qualifying offer in MLB in 2023?

After Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association failed to agree on a 2023 international draft, MLB free agency this winter will once again be impacted by the qualifying offer system.

Here are the MLB free agents ineligible for a qualifying offer in 2023. Importantly, any player dealt before the MLB trade deadline is automatically no longer eligible for the qualifying offer.

  • José Abreu, Chicago White Sox
  • Carlos Correa, Minnesota Twins
  • Noah Syndergaard, Philadelphia Phillies

The following 2023 MLB free agents declined their qualifying offers

  • Willson Contreras, Chicago Cubs
  • Xander Bogaerts, Boston Red Sox
  • Aaron Judge, New York Yankees
  • Jacob deGrom, New York Mets
  • Carlos Rodón, San Francisco Giants
  • Anthony Rizzo, New York Yankees
  • Nathan Eovaldi, Boston Red Sox
  • Trea Turner, Los Angeles Dodgers
  • Chris Bassitt, New York Mets
  • Brandon Nimmo, New York Mets
  • Dansby Swanson, Atlanta Braves

The following players have accepted their qualifying offers.

  • Joc Pederson, San Francisco Giants
  • Martin Perez, Texas Rangers

MLB qualifying offer 2022

Major League Baseball announced the cost of the MLB qualifying offer will be $19.65 million this offseason. It’s a $1.25 million increase, a direct result of revenue climbing across the league and the salaries for the highest-paid MLB players. The price of the qualifying offer dropped to $17.8 million in 2019, climbed in 2020 and then dipped in 2021 after the COVID-19 pandemic greatly impacted MLB revenue.

  • MLB qualifying offer 2022: $19.65 million
  • MLB qualifying offer 2021: $18.4 million
  • MLB qualifying offer 2020: $18.9 million
  • MLB qualifying offer 2019: $17.8 MLB

What is a qualifying offer in MLB?

A qualifying offer is a one-year offer MLB teams make to impending free agents. If a player has previously been offered the qualifying offer in their career or they were traded mid-season before becoming an MLB free agent, they aren’t eligible for the qualifying offer. If the QO is rejected, the club can receive a compensatory draft pick for the loss of that player in MLB free agency.

The qualifying offer in MLB is based on the mean salary of the 125 highest paid players in MLB.

Who are the best MLB free agents in 2023?

We saw some of the best players in baseball hit the open market in the 2021-’22 free-agent class. Incredibly, the pool of MLB free agents in 2023 will be even better.

Let’s dive into our top free agents in MLB this offseason.

Stats courtesy Baseball Reference and FanGraphs

1. Aaron Judge, outfielder, New York Yankees

Syndication: Westchester County Journal News
Frank Becerra Jr. / The Journal News / USA TODAY NETWORK
  • Aaron Judge stats (2022): 62 home runs, 131 RBI, 1.111 OPS, .311/.425/686, 211 OPS+, 133 runs scored

Aaron Judge is easily the best player available in MLB free agency this winter. He is coming off a contract year for the ages, setting the single-season American League home run record, nearly winning the Triple Crown all while carrying one of the best teams in MLB. Age is no longer much of a concern for franchises, Judge is a superstar on the field and one of the most marketable players away from it. It easily makes him No. 1 in the MLB free agency rankings and there are going to be marquee suitors lining up for him.

  • Potential Landing Spots: San Francisco Giants, Texas Rangers, New York Yankees, New York Mets

2. Jacob deGrom, pitcher, New York Mets – 5-year, $185M w/ TEX

MLB: Spring Training-Houston Astros at New York Mets
Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports
  • Jacob deGrom stats (2022): 3.08 ERA, 102 strikeouts, 0.75 WHIP, 5.6 H/9 in 64.1 innings pitched

The Texas Rangers land one of the top MLB free agents for the second consecutive year, pulling Jacob deGrom away from the New York Mets. The two-time Cy Young Award winner was targeting a multi-year deal worth at least $40 million. However, the Rangers’ willingness to provide him with a five-year deal averaging $37 million per season that includes a sixth-year option to maximize at $222 million, won out.

Texas desperately needed an ace and it just landed the best pitcher in baseball. While it’s undeniable that deGrom carries durability concerns, he is undeniably one of the best players of his generation when healthy. As long as he is on the mound, Texas will be in a great position to win.

  • Potential Landing Spots: Atlanta Braves, New York Mets, Texas Rangers
Texas Rangers sign Jacob deGrom to $185 million contract

3. Trea Turner, shortstop, Los Angeles Dodgers – 11-year, $300M w/PHI

MLB: Spring Training-San Diego Padres at Los Angeles Dodgers
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports
  • Trea Turner stats (2022): .298/.343/.466, 21 home runs, 27 steals, 6.3 fWAR, .809 OPS

Even in a down season by his own standards, Trea Turner was one of the best players in MLB. He moved back to shortstop and played outstanding defense, all while delivering his second consecutive 20-20 season with a combined 48 home runs + stolen bases.

Turning 30 in June, Turner is one of the best shortstops in baseball and had a variety of suitors to choose from. He ended up agreeing to an 11-year, $300 million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies, where he’ll presumably be their leadoff hitter, providing speed on the basepaths. It’s a massive coup for the Phillies.

  • Potential Landing Spots: Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs
Longest MLB hitting streaks ever: 2022 to baseball history

4. Carlos Rodón, pitcher, San Francisco Giants

MLB: Miami Marlins at San Francisco Giants
D. Ross Cameron-USA TODAY Sports
  • Carlos Rodón stats (2022): 2.88 ERA, 33.4% strikeout rate, .200 batting average allowed, 1.03 WHIP, 14.1% Swinging Strike rate

The San Francisco Giants and Carlos Rodón both took a gamble in free agency. Fast forward to the end of the 2022 MLB season and Rodón is coming out on top. He proved he could stay healthy over a full season, eclipsing 170 innings for the first time in his career. Rodón must now be considered one of the best starting pitchers in baseball and he’s even more valuable as a southpaw. Turning 30 in December, Rodon easily qualifies as one of the best MLB free agents in 2023 and he would slide in perfectly as the ace for a variety of teams.

  • Potential Landing Spots: San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Angels, Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees

5. Justin Verlander, pitcher, Houston Astros – two-year, $86M w/NYM

MLB: Miami Marlins at Houston Astros
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports
  • Justin Verlander stats (2022): 1.75 ERA, 9.51 K/9, 0.62 HR/9, .184 batting average allowed, 0.83 WHIP in 175 innings

A few teams were willing to roll the dice on Justin Verlander in MLB free agency last winter, even as he returned from Tommy John surgery. He stayed with the Houston Astros and delivered another Cy Young-caliber season, doing it as a 39-year-old in his first season back from TJS. Verlander, 40 in February, has proven that his age won’t impact his play on the mound and is sure to receive a contract worth $30-$40 million annually.

It turns out the Mets losing deGrom, only motivated them to land one of baseball’s most accomplished pitchers in recent times. Verlander moving to the Big Apple helps stabilize a rotation that’s already one of baseball’s best and will serve as a direct replacement for their former ace.

  • Potential Landing Spots: Houston Astros, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, San Francisco Giants

6. Carlos Correa, shortstop, Minnesota Twins

MLB: Spring Training-Boston Red Sox at Minnesota Twins
Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports
  • Carlos Correa stats (2022): .291/.336/.467, 22 home runs, .834 OPS, 140 wRC+, 4.4 fWAR

The Minnesota Twins won’t have any regrets over the Carlos Correa contract, even after missing the playoffs. The All-Star shortstop played extremely well, participating in 139-plus games for the second consecutive season. The 28-year-old shortstop will exercise his opt-out clause, becoming one of the top MLB free agents once again. There might be a smaller number of suitors compared to Trea Turner and Aaron Judge, but Correa’s production the past two seasons and his history of success in October will attract contenders.

  • Teams to Watch: Chicago Cubs, Minnesota Twins, San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers
Carlos Correa makes shopping analogy while commenting on his future with Minnesota Twins, MLB free agency

7. Xander Bogaerts, shortstop, Boston Red Sox

MLB: Spring Training-Atlanta Braves at Boston Red Sox
Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports
  • Xander Bogaerts stats (2022): .307/.377/.456, 15 home runs, 73 RBI, 134 wRC+, 6.1 fWAR

The Boston Red Sox never seemed to prioritize a Xander Bogaerts contract extension in 2022 and it will prove costly. The 30-year-old shortstop delivered a career-best season, combining high-end defense at a valuable position with remarkable consistency and run production at the plate. Even with the qualifying offer attached to him, Bogaerts is one of the best all-around players available in MLB free agency and plenty of clubs will be willing to do what Boston wouldn’t.

  • Potential landing spots: Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals

8. Dansby Swanson, shortstop, Atlanta Braves

MLB: Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals
Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports
  • Dansby Swanson stats (2022): .277/.329/.447, .776 OPS, 115 OPS+, 25 home runs, 2.0 dWAR, 5.7 bWAR

Many thought the Atlanta Braves would look to replace Dansby Swanson with a shortstop upgrade in the 2023 offseason. Now, the organization might wonder if it can afford Swanson. Turning 28 in February, the Georgia native earned his first All-Star selection in 2022 and became a vital part of the infield and lineup. Contract negotiations are underway and it wouldn’t be a surprise if a deal gets done, but we’ll keep Swanson in our MLB free agency rankings until a deal is official.

9. Chris Bassitt, starting pitcher, New York Mets

MLB: New York Mets at Miami Marlins
Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports
  • Chris Bassitt stats (2022): 3.42 ERA, 0.94 HR/9, 22.4% strikeout rate, .233 BAA, 1.14 WHIP in 181.2 innings pitched

After enjoying a breakout All-Star season with the Oakland Athletics in 2021, Chris Bassitt’s following it up with a strong effort with the New York Mets as well. After proving his durability in the past two seasons while having an above-average strikeout rate and WHIP. He is best suited to land in a more pitcher-friendly environment with quality defense around him, but the team that lands Bassitt this winter will get one of the most underrated MLB free agents in 2023.

New York Mets offseason: 5 major storylines, including deGrom and Diaz’s impending free agency

10. Brandon Nimmo, outfielder, New York Mets (Previously: 13)

MLB: San Diego Padres at New York Mets
Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports
  • Brandon Nimmo stats (2022): .273/.367/.433, 16 home runs, 5.4 fWAR, 91st percentile Outs Above Average

New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo proved for the second consecutive year that he is an above-average regular. Coming off a 3.3 fWAR season in 2021, Nimmo has now delivered his first double-digit homer season since 2018 and he is even better defensively in the outfield. Entering his age-30 season next year, Nimmo’s defensive ability and consistent production at the plate definitively make him one of the 15 best MLB free agents in 2023.

11. Edwin Díaz, closer, New York Mets – Re-signs on 5-year, $102 million contract

MLB: Atlanta Braves at New York Mets
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports
  • Edwin Díaz stats (2022): 1.31 ERA, 17.13 K/9, 32 saves, .158 batting average allowed, 0.84 WHIP

Edwin Díaz delivered one of the best seasons ever from a closer entering MLB free agency. Striking out 50.2% of the batters he faced, only allowing 18 walks across 235 batters in 62 innings and dominating in almost every instance he took the mound. It was a season for the ages, easily making Díaz the best closer in MLB.

Longest home run ever: Farthest home run in MLB history, longest home runs in 2022

While it might seem surprising that Diaz re-signed before officially becoming a free agent, this is a record-setting contract. Once the deal is official, Edwin Diaz becomes the highest-paid closer in MLB history both in AAV ($20.4 million) and total value ($102 million), blowing past the previous marks set by Raisel Iglesias ($14.5M AAV, $58 million total).

12. Clayton Kershaw, pitcher, Los Angeles Dodgers — Re-signs one-year contract

MLB: Atlanta Braves at Los Angeles Dodgers
Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports
  • Clayton Kershaw stats (2022): 2.28 ERA, 0.71 HR9, .205 batting average allowed, 0.94 WHIP across 126.1 innings

It all comes down to health with Clayton Kershaw. When he is on the mound and throwing without issue, the 34-year-old can still compete for the Cy Young Award. He’s a surefire Hall of Famer with the presence a team wants in the clubhouse and an ability to mentor young pitchers. We, just like MLB teams next offseason, worry about his ability to stay healthy over a full season and in October. That’s what pushes him further down the list among the top MLB free agents.

We’ve already seen it in 2022. After looking like a Cy Young candidate for a few weeks, a lower back/SI joint injury sidelined Kershaw and he went back on the IL once again with a back injury. These are the things that force him to move down in the MLB free agent rankings, but the strong return post-injury helped push him back up.

13. Willson Contreras, catcher, Chicago Cubs

MLB: Spring Training-Kansas City Royals at Chicago Cubs
Allan Henry-USA TODAY Sports
  • Willson Contreras stats (2022): 22 home runs, 55 RBI, .243/.349/.466, .815 OPS, 3.3 fWAR

There’s a reason the Philadelphia Phillies wouldn’t allow J.T. Realmuto, one of the top MLB free agents in 2020, to leave. Look at the catching market this past offseason, the options were extremely underwhelming. Heck, James McCann landed a four-year, $40 million contract two years ago.

Best batting average of all time: Top MLB hitters by career average, best BA in 2021

Enter Willson Contreras. A two-time All-Star selection, the 29-year-old ranks third among catchers in FanGraphs’ Wins Above Replacement (6.4) and has the second-highest OPS (.863) since 2019. He’s made strides behind the plate, too. At a time when so many teams are struggling at catcher, Contreras will be hitting free agency at the perfect time.

There is one reason for concern with Contreras. Because he’ll likely receive the qualifying offer, the team signing him must take a hit. We also saw at the MLB trade deadline that there isn’t as much interest in Contreras as expected. By the time offseason rankings of the top MLB free agents roll around, he could drop further.

14. José Abreu, first base, Chicago White Sox – signed w/ HOU

MLB: Chicago White Sox at Texas Rangers
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports
  • Jose Abreu stats (2022): .304/.378/.446, 15 home runs ,361 wOBA, 137 wRC+, 3.9 fWAR

José Abreu is headed to the Houston Astros, joining with the reigning World Series champion in the first huge splash of MLB free agency. Houston not only lands another outstanding veteran who will gel perfectly in its clubhouse, it also injects a massive boost into the lineup.

In the 2022 regular season, the Astros’ first basemen ranked 23rd in batting average) while finishing 29th in OBP (.276) and wRC+. While Houston still had one of the best lineups in MLB, its situation at first base was as bad as teams like the Los Angeles Angels and Pittsburgh Pirates.

Now, Abreu joins the best team in the American League. While he only hit 15 home runs this past season, his advanced metrics show there is still plenty of power to tap into. He’ll likely spend more time at designated hitter in 2023, but this is a huge addition for Houston.

15. Trey Mancini, first base, Houston Astros

MLB: Houston Astros at Cleveland Guardians
Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports
  • Try Mancini stats (2022): .239/.319/.391, 101 OPS+, 18 home runs 63 RBI

Being traded to the Houston Astros might have added millions of dollars in value to Trey Mancini heading into MLB free agency. The changes to Oriole Park at Camden Yards ruined his power totals, but landing in a more hitter-friendly ballpark is demonstrating that this can still a slugger capable of hitting 25-plus home runs with a .330 OBP. A beloved presence in the clubhouse with the versatility to play three positions (1B, LF, RF), Mancini could be one of the most underrated MLB free agents in 2022-’23.

16. Adam Wainwright, starting pitcher, St. Louis Cardinals

MLB: Milwaukee Brewers at St. Louis Cardinals
Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports
  • Adam Wainwright stats (2022): 3.71 ERA, 11-12 record, .259 BAA, 1.28 WHIP in 191.2 innings

Heading into MLB free agency 2023, Adam Wainwright is one of our favorite MLB free agents. He explained that an awful September (7.22 ERA) is all due to a mechanical problem that he didn’t see until at the end of the season. Considering he had a 3.09 ERA in 163 innings prior to September, we’ll bet on him making that correction. The St. Louis Cardinals will be overwhelming favorites to re-sign him, especially since it will be his last season.

  • Prediction: Adam Wainwright re-signs with St. Louis Cardinals

17. Anthony Rizzo, first base, New York Yankees — Re-signs on two-year, $34 million contract

MLB: Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees
Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports
  • Anthony Rizzo stats (2022): .224/.338/.480, 32 home runs, 10.6% walk rate, .352 wOBA, 132 wRC+, 2.4 fWAR

Returning to the New York Yankees worked out quite nicely for Anthony Rizzo. While he does hold a $16 million player option, declining it and becoming one of the best MLB free agents available at first base seems inevitable. The 33-year-old is still drawing walks at a double-digit rate with 30-plus home runs. Some nagging injuries raise concerns and the .217/.308/.462 slash line in August and September push him further down the MLB free agency rankings. However, he showed enough this year to earn a larger contract.

18. Andrew Benintendi, outfielder, New York Yankees

MLB: New York Yankees at Tampa Bay Rays
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports
  • Andrew Benintendi stats (20220: .304/.373/.399, 122 wRC+, 54 runs scored, 2.8 fWAR

While Andrew Benintendi hasn’t quite lived up to expectations since joining the Yankees’ lineup, this is still an above-average player. He’s demonstrated the ability to consistently reach base and he’s not a defensive liability in left field. The broken hamate bone that ended Benintendi’s season shouldn’t be an issue for him in MLB free agency, with teams confident that he will be fully recovered and hitting without issue in spring training. He should be one of the more undervalued free agents this winter.

19. Jameson Taillon, starting pitcher, New York Yankees — Signed with the Cubs

MLB: New York Yankees at Houston Astros
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports
  • Jameson Taillon stats (2022): 3.91 ERA, 3.94 FIP, 7.66 K/9, .243 BAA, 1.13 WHIP

Similar to his teammate Luis Severino teams interested in Jameson Taillon will have some questions regarding his durability. The 31-year-old has already undergone Tommy John surgery twice in his career, a red flag as he plays into his 30s. However, he has covered more than 300 innings since 2021 and he’s performed like a dependable mid-rotation starter.

20. Kodai Senga, starting pitcher, Japan

Baseball: World Baseball Classic-USA at Japan
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports
  • Kodai Senga stats (2022): 1.94 ERA< 156-49 K-BB across 144 IP

While Kodai Senga might not be the best pitcher in Japan, he is the top international free agent in 2022-’23. The 30-year-old posted the second-best ERA in the Pacific League and he brings some serious heat with the fastball. The combination of track record and stuff should attract interest from a number of teams seeking a No. 3 starter, just with risk that he eventually moves to the bullpen.

MLB free agency will include Japanese star pitcher Kodai Senga: 4 ideal landing spots

21. Tyler Anderson, starting pitcher, Los Angeles Dodgers — Signed with Angels on 3-year, $39M contract

MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers at San Diego Padres
Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports
  • Tyler Anderson stats (2022): 2.57 ERA, 3.31 FIP, .218 BAA, 1.00 WHIP

Landing with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2022 made Tyler Anderson millions of dollars. A journeyman starter prior to that point, he became an All-Star selection in his age-32 season. Now hitting MLB free agency at 33, Anderson (.256 BABIP vs .287 career BABIP) is doubtful to ever reach these highs again. However, he can be an above-average No. 4 starter.

The Angels will gladly add Anderson to a pitching staff in need of some reinforcements. While he may not be the best option on the market, Anderson is a great addition for a team that’s underwhelmed despite having two of the best players in baseball.

22. Mitch Haniger, outfielder, Seattle Mariners — Signed with the Giants

MLB: ALDS-Seattle Mariners at Houston Astros
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports
  • Mitch Haniger stats (2022): .246/.333/.429, 11 home runs, 113 wRC+ in 57 games

Mitch Haniger is a dependable hitter when he’s in the lineup, availability is just the issue. Turning 34 in December, the right-handed slugger hit 39 home runs in 2021 with a 121 wRC+ and he’s been an above-average hitter when not on the injured list this year. He’s the perfect player for a playoff team to offer a sizable one-year contract to, playing him in the corner outfield and as the designated hitter.

  • Prediction: Mitch Haniger signs with San Francisco Giants

23. Nathan Eovaldi, pitcher, Boston Red Sox

MLB: Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees
Tom Horak-USA TODAY Sports
  • Nathan Eovaldi stats (2022): 3.87 ERA, 8.48 K/9, .262 BAA, 18% K-BB rate in 109.1 innings

Notice a theme among our top MLB free agents for the 2022-’23 offseason? Many of the best players expected to be available have some medical red flags. When available to pitch, Nathan Eovaldi’s stuff is electric and the righty isn’t losing his fastball. He threw 182.1 innings last season, but it was the first time he cracked 120-plus innings since 2016. The time spent on the IL and diminished velocity further highlight the concerns with Eovaldi.

24. Noah Syndergaard, starting pitcher, Philadelphia Phillies

MLB: World Series-Houston Astros at Philadelphia Phillies
Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports
  • Noah Syndergaard stats (2022): 3.94 ERA, 2.07 BB/9, 11.3% K-BB rate, .260 BAA

One of the top starting pitchers in MLB free agency a year ago, the Los Angeles Angels gamble on Noah Syndergaard didn’t work out. The electric velocity from the 30-year-old righty isn’t coming back, he’s not the Cy Young candidate we saw in his glory years. Now, Syndergaard wins with command and allowing weak contact. He performed like a mid-rotation starter in the regular season with the Phillies (4.12 ERA, 13.7% K rate) and that’s how he should be valued among the 2023 MLB free agents.

25. Jurickson Profar, utility, San Diego Padres

MLB: San Diego Padres at Philadelphia Phillies
Kyle Ross-USA TODAY Sports

After making his MLB debut in 2012 as a 19-year-old, Jurickson Profar finally gets to hit the open market a decade later. He delivered his best season in 2023, posting a career-high 2.5 fWAR with a 110 wRC+, 14 home runs and 82 runs scored. Capable of playing first base, second base and the corner outfield, Profar’s versatility and switch-hitting should be the driving force behind teams’ interest in him this winter.

26. Michael Conforto, outfielder, free agent

MLB: Miami Marlins at New York Mets
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

Fully recovered from shoulder surgery in April, outfielder Michael Confort will have an opportunity to turn things around this winter. While he loses a valuable season of playing time, turning 30 in March, the left-handed hitter will still generate plenty of interest. Conforto slashed .232/.344/.384 with a 106 wRC+ and 14 home runs in 125 games during the 2021 season. Prior to that, he delivered 25-plus home runs in each year from 2017-’19. Considering the Houston Astros pursued him late in August, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they were among the teams after him in MLB free agency.

27. Andrew Heaney, starting pitcher, Los Angeles Dodgers — signed with Rangers on 2-year deal worth $25M

MLB: NLDS-Los Angeles Dodgers at San Diego Padres
Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports
  • Andrew Heaney stats (2022): 3.10 ERA< 3.75 FIP, 13.62 K/9, .212 BAA, 1.09 WHIP in 72.2 innings

Longevity and availability are what drive down Andrew Heaney in the MLB free agent rankings. He thrived on the mound in 2022, striking out 35.5% of batters with a phenomenal 29.4% K-BB rate. When you generate an All-Star caliber 16.8% Swinging Strike rate and locate pitches well (2.35 BB/9), it’s a good sign that Heaney possesses the stuff to be a high-end starter. However, he threw just 129.2 innings in 2021 and 72.2 innings this past season. A one-year deal seems likely, maybe even following in the footsteps of Carlos Rodón last year.

28. Michael Brantley, outfielder, Houston Astros

MLB: Tampa Bay Rays at Houston Astros
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Michae Brantley missed a majority of the 2022 MLB season due to a shoulder injury, later undoing surgery to repair a torn labrum. It’s pushed him down MLB free agent rankings, but the 35-year-old will be healthy for spring training. A great presence in the clubhouse with a .303/.365/.430 slash line over the last two seasons, Brantley represents an above-average No. 3 outfielder for a young team who needs experience to help a youth-filled roster.

29. Kenley Jansen, closer, Atlanta Braves

MLB: NLDS-Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves
Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports
  • Kenley Jansen stats (2022): 3.34 ERA, 3.21 FIP, 11.95 K/9, .191 BAA, 1.05 WHIP, 41 saves

Heading into 2023, All-Star closer Kenley Jansen is just nine shaves shy of the 400-mark. As long as he stays healthy – heart issues have forced multiple IL stints in recent years – he could realistically surpass Francisco Rodriguez (437) to grab fourth place on the all-time saves list. He is still an excellent closer whose stats were brought down by an awful August (4.82 ERA).

30. Zach Eflin, starting pitcher, Philadelphia Phillies — Signed with the Tampa Bay Rays

MLB: World Series-Philadelphia Phillies at Houston Astros
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports
  • Zach Eflin stats (2022): 4.04 ERA, 3.56 FUP, 1.78 BB/9, .239 BAA, 1.12

Zach Eflin could be one of those MLB free agents who flies under the radar when he is signed and then looks like a steal in 2023. The 28-year-old righty only threw 75.2 innings this past season, giving him just over 180 in the last two seasons, posting a respectable 4.04 ERA. What stands out about Eflin is that he held opponents to a .239 batting average, only walked 4.8% of batters and he did an excellent job keeping the ball in the yard. The Phillies will prioritize re-signing him, but there will be lots of competition.

31. J.D. Martinez, designated hitter, Boston Red Sox

MLB: Boston Red Sox at Cincinnati Reds
David Kohl-USA TODAY Sports
  • J.D. Martinez stats (2022): .274/.341/.448, 119 wRC+, 16 home runs, 62 RBI in 139 games

Teams essentially know what they are getting from J.D. Martinez at this point. The 30-plus homer seasons are likely gone for the right-handed slugger and his profile is strictly limited to designated hitter, unless a club is willing to accept a major liability in the corner outfield. Turning 36 in August, Martinez should be looking at a two-year contract to close out his career.

32. Martin Pérez, starting pitcher, Texas Rangers — Accepted qualifying offer from Rangers

MLB: Texas Rangers at Seattle Mariners
Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports
  • Martin Pérez stats (2022): 2.89 ERA, 3.27 FIP, .239 BAA, 1.26 WHIP across 196.1 IP

Coming off two below-average seasons with the Boston Red Sox, Martin Pérez delivered his best season ever for the Texas Rangers. After never posting a sub-3.5 ERA in his MLB career, Perez registered a 2.89 ERA across 32 starts this season. Perez has decided to accept the team’s qualifying offer, keeping the veteran hurler around for another season.

33. Josh Bell, first base, San Diego Padres — Signed w/ CLE

MLB: San Diego Padres at Washington Nationals
Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports
  • Josh Bell stats (2022): .266/.362/.422, 17 home runs, 71 RBI, 123 wRC+

Call it the tale of two seasons for Josh Bell. He crushed the ball in the first half with the Washington Nationals, slashing .301/.384/.493 with a 143 wRC+ and 14 home runs in 437 plate appearances. Things spiraled with the San Diego Padres, highlighted by a .192/.316/.271 slash line. It definitely delivered a blow to his place in our MLB free agent rankings, but Bell’s history of production warrants a multi-year contract.

34. Taijuan Walker, starting pitcher, New York Mets — Signed with the Phillies

MLB: Game Two-Washington Nationals at New York Mets
Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

It all comes down to health for Taijuan Walker. The 30-year-old compiled a 3.49 ERA in 157.1 innings this past season, delivering 29 starts for the second consecutive year. He is still averaging 93.5 mph on his fastball, generating plenty of soft contact (17.4%). A two-year contract seems reasonable, especially with the Mets.

35. Justin Turner, third base, Los Angeles Dodgers

MLB: NLDS-Los Angeles Dodgers at San Diego Padres
Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports
  • Justin Turner stats (2022): .278/.350/.438, 123 wRC+, 13 home runs, 9.4% BB rate

While Justin Turner saw his home run output cut in half in comparison to the 2021 season (27 home runs), he still remained an excellent threat near the heart of. batting order. Heading into his age-38 season, Turner still possesses an excellent eye at the plate. He’s only a designated hitter, but this is an attractive options for several teams seeking a cheaper bat with lots of experience.

36. Sean Manaea, starting pitcher, San Diego Padres

MLB: San Francisco Giants at San Diego Padres
Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports

Sean Manaea looked like he could be one of the best starting pitchers available in MLB free agency before the summer. Across his first 14 starts with the San Diego Padres, Manaea compiled a 3.92 ERA with a 1.14 WHIP and .210 batting average allowed. After July 1, he posted a 6.16 ERA and opponents hit .293 off him. Considering his past accomplishments (3.91 ERA in 2021), someone will take a chance on the 31-year-old southpaw as a No. 4 starter with upside.

37. Jean Segura, infielder, Philadelphia Phillies

38. Aroldis Chapman, reliever, New York Yankees

39. Michael Wacha, starting pitcher, Boston Red Sox

40. Ross Stripling, pitcher, Toronto Blue Jays

41. Joc Pederson, outfielder, San Francisco Giants — Accepted qualifying offer

42. Kevin Kiermaier, outfielder, Tampa Bay Rays

43. Robert Suarez, reliever, San Diego Padres — Re-signed with the Padres

44. José Quintana, starting pitcher, St. Louis Cardinals

45. Craig Kimbrel, closer, Los Angeles Dodgers
