A new rumor claims that one of the new candidates for the Minnesota Vikings general manager job is a man who failed miserably at the same job for a different team a few years ago.

Despite firing former general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah in January, the Vikings are still looking for a replacement. Executive vice president of football operations Rob Brzezinski had to lead the front office not only through free agency in March, but also during last month’s NFL Draft.

Nevertheless, there is still an interim tag on his spot, and the organization is set to conduct a new round of interviews to find a person to officially take over for Adofo-Mensah for the long term. On Wednesday, multiple sources revealed some new candidates for the job, including San Francisco 49ers assistant GM RJ Gillen. However, another name came up for the wrong reasons.

Minnesota Vikings interview with Dave Ziegler

Former Las Vegas Raiders GM Dave Ziegler is also among the executives set to interview with the Vikings soon. Ziegler has been an assistant GM for the Tennessee Titans since last year, and was a senior personnel advisor for the New Orleans Saints in 2024.

These opportunities came after he was fired midway through his second season with the Raiders. After being hired by Las Vegas ahead of the 2022 season, they hired longtime New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels as their head coach. It was a disastrous decision, as both were fired in November of 2023 after the Raiders posted a 9-16 record with the pair overseeing the roster.

Of the new candidates for the Vikings GM job, for better or worse, he is the only one with previous experience at that position in the NFL.

Mauricio Pochettino found himself at the center of an unusual scene upon arriving in Madrid this week Tottenham Hotspur supporters on the same flight Singed to Argentina and asked him to return to North London.

Real Madrid connection addressed

During the brief exchange, the interviewer also asked about Pochettino’s relationship with Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez.

Their bond is very old. Ahead of the 2019 Champions League Final with Tottenham, the Argentine used sarcasm and humor to respond to rumors of a move to Real Madrid.
