NHL Insider gives big update on Jack Hughes’ future with the New Jersey Devils

Jack Hughes’ future with the New Jersey Devils has been in the headlines recently. With Quinn Hughes approaching NHL free agency, a potential extension with the Minnesota Wild is on the table. However, the Hughes brothers’ futures remain tied to each other, and an NHL insider has provided a big update on the New Jersey forward.

As reported by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman on the Fan Hockey Show, the Devils are not trading Jack Hughes after missing the 2026 Stanley Cup playoffs. This report comes after The Athletic reported that Minnesota general manager Bill Guerin attempted to trade for New Jersey defenseman Luke Hughes at the 2026 NHL trade deadline.

The Wild want to keep Quinn Hughes long-term, so trading for one of his brothers is a great way to do that. However, is reelection more likely in New Jersey or Minnesota?

Why is Quinn Hughes more likely to join Jack Hughes in New Jersey?

NHL: Stanley Cup Playoffs-Colorado Avalanche at Minnesota Wild

Jack Hughes is under contract with New Jersey through the 2029–2030 NHL season. Luke Hughes, meanwhile, has a contract that runs until the 2031–32 campaign. So, is it more likely that the two New Jersey players will join Quinn Hughes in Minnesota or vice versa?

Despite what the public says, it is far more likely that Quinn Hughes comes to the Devils than the other way around. With the Wild defenseman entering his contract year, some questions need answers soon. If Quinn Hughes plans to stay with Minnesota, an extension will likely be pursued this summer.

Friedman had previously predicted a three-year contract, in line with Jack Hughes’ contract in New Jersey. Unless Jack Hughes requests a trade, it doesn’t make sense for New Jersey to trade him. After all, if Quinn Hughes wants to play with his brothers, he can sign with the Devils in NHL free agency next year.

It all depends on what Quinn Hughes wants to do moving forward. If a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals is his goal, staying in Minnesota would make the most sense. If playing with his brothers is a bigger desire than signing with New Jersey then that’s the most realistic outcome.

Either way, it’s much easier to imagine the Hughes brothers playing with each other in New Jersey than it is in Minnesota.

New Jersey Ambush, Maple Leafs Under Siege

When looking at the New Jersey Devils and the Toronto Maple Leafs you couldn’t picture two more opposites.

The former created a fare that was universally loved. The latter hired and summoned firing squads, and had them attack their targets.

Whether you like the way the question was asked or not, there’s certainly reason to be skeptical of the Maple Leafs’ new direction.

Whereas in New Jersey, there is only reason for optimism. Trust me, if there was any lapse on Mehta’s radar, he would have been asked.

There is no one yet…

But what we’re seeing in Toronto is amazing. Yes, there was a pipebomb promo by Steve Simmons. But he’s not the only Toronto-based media that came out in the open.

And to think that the Devils’ smart move to get Mehta out from under Toronto’s feet was the start of this whole thing.

More information on both the Devils who caused chaos in Toronto and the Maple Leafs siege is found in the link below.

You really don’t want to miss this.

Dell Curry’s emotional jersey retirement speech

The Charlotte Hornets honored Dell Curry with a powerful jersey retirement night, and the legend made sure the moment was for the fans as well as him. During the ceremony, the former Hornets standout stood under the lights and spoke from the heart and delivered a message that resonated throughout the arena.

“If you see me growing, if you see my family growing, it means so much that you’re still here and supporting me and my family,” he said. The words gained weight. They felt personal. They felt that they had earned.

Curry didn’t stop there. He focused on the current Hornets. “I want to challenge you to continue supporting this team,” he said. “The guys in the locker room … they’re working hard to make you proud.” The message contained both gratitude and faith.

That moment also brought history. Curry’s jersey became the second jersey to be retired in Hornets franchise history, joining Bobby Philps. The crowd felt it. A legacy sealed in the rooftops.

Dell Curry’s legacy will live on in the Hornets’ future

Curry’s voice rose again as he talked about what’s coming next. “This is going to be the premier franchise in the NBA, there’s no doubt about that,” he said. That confidence didn’t feel forced. It felt like a conviction built up over decades. He saw something in this Hornets team. He believed in it.

Then came the most emotional turn. “I’m a country boy from grottoes, man. I didn’t know this would happen.” Humility trumps everything else. For a moment, the banners, the lights, the noise, none of it matters. Just gratitude.

Curry’s resume speaks for itself. Ten seasons with the Hornets. Sixth Person of the Year in 1994. Former all-time leader in points and threes. But this night felt different. It felt complete.

To conclude his jersey retirement speech, Dell Curry turned back to the Hornets and their fans. “So we’ve got to keep this party going… keep winning. We’ve got to support them. Thanks for having me.”

The question now is, can they rise to match the legacy that watches over them?

Dell Curry’s secret nickname revealed by Stephen Curry ahead of jersey retirement

On Thursday, the Charlotte Hornets will pay tribute to Dell Curry by retiring his jersey. The game against the Orlando Magic will be a celebration of his excellence on the field.

Additionally, Curry will get a chance to share the moment with his family, including his son Stephen Curry. Ahead of the celebration, the family openly shared the various nicknames they called him, but according to Scott Fowler of the Charlotte Observer, one stood out the most.

Fowler said that Steph and his brother Seth call Dale “Pops”. Additionally, his daughter, Sydelle Curry-Lee, calls him “Dad”. Then, Curry’s 10 grandchildren call him “Gee Daddy.”

However, for the first time, Steph shared with Fowler the nickname they use to call Dale in private.

“We call him ‘The Originator,'” Steph said of Dale. “Because all of this — all of us and our basketball family tree? It originated with him. A friend of ours gave him that nickname on a golf trip about a decade ago. And so now we run with it.”

Overall, Curry played 16 seasons in the NBA. Ten of those years were with the Hornets. Additionally, Curry became the franchise’s all-time scoring leader with 9,839 points. Additionally, he leads the league in total regular season games played with 701. In 1994, he was named the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year.

Ultimately, Curry finished his career with 12,670 points, 2,617 rebounds and 1,909 assists. Additionally, Curry finished his career with 1,245 3-pointers, 929 of which came with the Hornets.

Also during his tenure in Charlotte, Curry led them to four playoff appearances in 1993, 1994, 1995, and 1998.

LA looking for new jersey patch sponsor after Bibigo

The Los Angeles Lakers have formally opened the bidding process for a new jersey patch sponsor for the 2026-27 NBA season and beyond. This marks the end of their existing five-year agreement with Bibigo, which began in 2021 and was valued at more than $100 million.

According to a post on X by Arash Markazi of The Sporting Tribune, the franchise issued a press release announcing what was described as a category-defining sponsorship.

“The Lakers are one of the most recognizable brands in the world, synonymous with greatness, championships, style and legacy. There is no doubt that the Lakers’ value starts on the court in the heart of Los Angeles and extends across culture and entertainment to reach people everywhere. The Purple and Gold’s distinctive identity combines legendary history with dynamic innovation, creating moments and experiences that are forever remembered,” Jim Snodgrass, Lakers’ vice president of corporate partnerships, said in a release. Said through.

The Lakers have only had two jersey patch sponsors since the program’s inception. His first deal with Wish (2017-2021) was worth around $12-14 million annually. However, the Bibigo partnership extended beyond the NBA and included branding across the South Bay Lakers (G League) and the franchise’s eSports division, unlike the agreement with Wish. The upcoming bidding process is also expected to include the South Bay Lakers and other LA affiliates.

The release explicitly states that the move represents the “next chapter” of the franchise’s evolution, citing its broadcast presence in more than 230 markets, hundreds of millions of global fans, and approximately 89 million social media followers. It cited legendary players like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson and Kobe Bryant, as well as current stars like LeBron James and Luka Doncic.

The outgoing Bibigo deal was also historically significant. It was the first South Korean company to secure an NBA jersey patch and was intended to expand the Lakers’ footprint in Asian markets.

Guess the Football Player by Club, Nationality & Jersey Number: CR7, Messi, Neymar Quiz

Guess the Football Player by Club, Nationality & Jersey Number: The Ultimate Quiz

Football is more than just a sport in India; it is an emotion. Whether you are a die-hard supporter of the Blue Tigers or a late-night Premier League fan, your knowledge of the game defines your passion. One of the most popular ways fans test their expertise is through the viral “Guess the Football Player by Club, Nationality, and Jersey Number” challenge.

Think you can identify the legends like CR7, Messi, and Neymar just by looking at their stats? Let’s dive into why this quiz is taking the Indian football community by storm.

The Big Three: CR7, Messi, and Neymar

When we talk about football icons, three names dominate the conversation in India: Cristiano Ronaldo (CR7), Lionel Messi, and Neymar Jr. Identifying these giants in a quiz might seem easy, but the real challenge lies in tracking their career shifts.

  • Cristiano Ronaldo (CR7): While most associate him with the iconic Number 7 at Manchester United and Real Madrid, can you identify him if the club listed is Al-Nassr?
  • Lionel Messi: The legendary Number 10 from Argentina. Most fans know his Barcelona history, but his transition to Inter Miami has added a new layer to these trivia games.
  • Neymar Jr: Known for his flair and the Number 10 jersey for Brazil, his move from PSG to Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League is a common “trick” question in modern quizzes.

How the Quiz Works: Deciphering the Clues

The “Guess the Football Player” format usually provides three specific data points to help you identify the star:

1. The Nationality

This is usually the starting point. Seeing the Argentine flag immediately brings Messi or Angel Di Maria to mind, while the Portuguese flag points towards Ronaldo or Bruno Fernandes.

2. The Current or Former Club

This is where it gets tricky. Quizzes often use a player’s former club to confuse you. For example, if you see “Malmö FF, Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, AC Milan, PSG, Man Utd,” the only correct answer is the legendary Zlatan Ibrahimović.

3. The Jersey Number

Numbers like 7, 10, and 9 are iconic. However, modern quizzes now include defenders like Virgil van Dijk (Number 4) or midfielders like Kevin De Bruyne (Number 17) to raise the difficulty level for Indian fans.

Why Indian Fans Love Football Quizzes

In India, football viewership has skyrocketed. With the availability of the ISL, Premier League, and La Liga on streaming platforms like JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar, fans are more informed than ever. Engaging in these quizzes allows fans to brag about their tactical knowledge in WhatsApp groups and social media communities.

Conclusion

The Guess the Football Player quiz is an excellent way to keep your football knowledge sharp. Whether it’s identifying CR7’s incredible stats, Messi’s world-record achievements, or Neymar’s skill set, these challenges celebrate the greatness of the beautiful game. As the football season progresses, new stars will emerge, and their jersey numbers will become the next big questions in these quizzes.

1. Who is the most guessed player in football quizzes?

Cristiano Ronaldo (CR7) and Lionel Messi are the most frequently featured players due to their global popularity and iconic jersey numbers (7 and 10).

Robinson injured in Hurricanes practice Dons rare teal jersey, likely to play against Lightning

On Saturday morning, the Carolina Hurricanes were on the ice at Invisalign Arena. Since Tuesday – when the league allowed skating to resume after a twelve-day break – the Hurricanes have already held four practices.

Notably, Eric Robinson returned to the yellow non-contact sweater during those practices. However, on Saturday, the Hurricanes’ speedy fourth-line winger ditched the yellow jersey for a San Jose Sharks-esque teal sweater with a ‘Property of Carolina’ crest.

It’s unknown what the teal sweater represents – but it’s not yellow, which is a good sign. After practice, head coach Rod Brind’Amour discussed Robinson’s possible availability for Thursday’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

“I think he would be a good choice,” he told the media. “I mean, we’re not rushing it. …At this point, it looks like he’s trending toward being ready to go.”

Robinson suffered an upper-body injury on January 19 during a matinee game against the Buffalo Sabres. Early in the game, Rasmus Dahlin threw a high-speed hip-check at him while he was stationary near the Sabers net. As he came back from the ice, he was seen holding his left shoulder and immediately left the game.

His first day back on the ice was Tuesday and he has remained as an extra forward during practice since.

Christian Wood calls it ‘accidental’ after seeing jersey

It’s fair to say that Christian Wood didn’t have the best career in the NBA. However, even making it in arguably the toughest league in the world requires a lot of talent and consistent work, and while Wood last played in the NBA for the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2023-24 season, he still made an impact during his eight years in the league.

The 30-year-old told exactly the same thing to an ex user when he was trolled by a fan after he was seen wearing his jersey at an event. Wood wore number 35 throughout his career, the fan in question was wearing a Houston Rockets jersey.

The user initially wrote on the

However, Wood quickly hit back at the slight, even calling the original poster “casual.”

“Why is this crazy? I was tough, especially on the Rockets.. casual.. respect for the brother,” Wood wrote, apparently demanding more respect for his accomplishments in the league.

And this seems appropriate. Not many players are able to average 20 points per game over an entire season, and while Wood only did so once, he consistently proved his ability as a lethal scorer, especially during his two seasons with the Rockets.

During that time, Wood averaged 19.1 points, 9.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game, while shooting 50.1% overall and 38.4% from three-point field. And while he was often criticized for his defensive work, his ability on the other end of the court was never in doubt, and deserves more respect from fans.

Of course, the player himself is well aware of this fact and was quick to hit back on social media.

Cooper flag jersey sold for record $1 million

There is no denying the fact that Cooper Flagg is having a great rookie season with the Dallas Mavericks. Even though he missed All-Star Weekend due to a foot injury, Flagg has demonstrated All-Star potential.

Currently, he is averaging 20.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.

His star power became evident on Monday when his rookie-first jersey was sold by Sotheby’s for $1 million, according to ESPN’s Dan Hajdaki. This was the same jersey he wore in the first half of his first game.

“The $1 million result for Cooper Flagg’s rookie first jersey is a powerful testament to the importance collectors place on true ‘first moments’ in sport,” Brahma Wachter, Sotheby’s head of modern collectibles, said in a statement. “This jersey marks the beginning of a special career, with huge expectations and excitement.”

In November 2023, Victor Wembanyama broke the previous record when the jersey he wore in the second half of his debut sold for $762,000.

On October 22, Flagg made his debut with the Mavericks against the San Antonio Spurs. Ultimately, he came out with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds, even though the Mavericks lost 125–92.

In the process, Flagg became the youngest player in franchise history to debut at the age of 18.

Sotheby’s will host an NBA Rookie Debut auction from March 17 to 23. This will include the first jerseys of Con Knueppel, Dylan Harper, Derrick Queen and VJ Edgecombe.

Currently, Flagg leads all rookies in points per game. He is at second position with a total of 999 marks. Additionally, he ranks second in rebounds with 321 and third in assists with 302.

My Best Hockey Jersey Collection: Which One Do you Like? #hockey #nhl #kazxi

My Best Hockey Jersey Collection: Which One Do You Like?

Ice hockey might not be the primary sport in India, but the craze for the NHL (National Hockey League) is growing rapidly among urban sports fans. Whether it’s the fast-paced action or the stylish aesthetic, owning a hockey jersey has become a significant fashion statement. Today, we’re diving into my personal hockey jersey collection, inspired by the trending #kazxi style, to see which designs truly stand out.

Why Hockey Jerseys are Trending in India

In India, “Athleisure” is at an all-time high. Hockey jerseys, known for their oversized fit and vibrant colors, are perfect for the Indian climate when styled correctly. From the classic Chicago Blackhawks logo to the modern aesthetics of the Seattle Kraken, these jerseys are more than just sportswear—they are collectibles.

Top Picks from My NHL Jersey Collection

1. The Classic Original Six

No collection is complete without an “Original Six” jersey. My personal favorite is the Toronto Maple Leafs home jersey. The deep blue color paired with the sharp white leaf is a timeless look. In India, this pairs perfectly with white sneakers and blue denim for a casual weekend outing.

2. The Bold and the Beautiful: Vegas Golden Knights

The Vegas Golden Knights jersey is a showstopper. With its metallic gold accents and dark charcoal base, it embodies the spirit of Las Vegas. If you like to stand out in a crowd, this is the jersey you should vote for in my collection.

3. The Retro Vibe: Hartford Whalers

Under the #kazxi aesthetic, retro is king. The bright green and blue of the Hartford Whalers (now the Carolina Hurricanes) bring a vintage 90s feel that is currently dominating street fashion in cities like Mumbai and Bangalore.

How to Choose Your First Hockey Jersey?

If you are an Indian fan looking to start your collection, consider these three factors:

  • Fabric: Look for “AeroReady” or breathable mesh fabrics, as Indian summers can be harsh.
  • Sizing: Hockey jerseys are meant to be worn over pads, so they run large. Size down if you want a standard fit.
  • The Crest: Every team has a history. Choose a team whose story or mascot resonates with you.

Conclusion

Building a hockey jersey collection is about celebrating the spirit of the game and expressing your personal style. Whether you prefer the aggressive look of the Boston Bruins or the sleek design of the New York Rangers, there is a jersey for everyone.

So, looking at the #kazxi inspired lineup, which one do you like the most? Let us know if you prefer the modern alternates or the classic heritage jerseys!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Can I buy authentic NHL jerseys in India?

While official NHL physical stores aren’t present in India, you can purchase jerseys through global sports retailers, the official NHL international shop, or specialized sneaker and streetwear boutiques that import authentic merchandise.

2. Are hockey jerseys comfortable for the Indian weather?

Yes, most modern jerseys are made of moisture-wicking, breathable polyester. They are great for the winter months or air-conditioned environments. For summers, many fans prefer wearing them as an “open-layer” over a cotton T-shirt.

3. What does #kazxi mean in the context of hockey?

4. How do I wash a hockey jersey without ruining the patch?

Always wash your jersey inside out in cold water on a gentle cycle. Avoid using a dryer; instead, hang it up to air dry to prevent the crest and numbers from cracking or peeling.

Nikola Jokic got his jersey signed by Victor Vembanyama in a unique way

Nikola Jokic may be a three-time MVP and the defending champion, but even “Joker” knows when he’s in the presence of an otherworldly presence.

During the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend at the Intuit Dome, the Denver Nuggets superstar took his admiration for Victor Wembanyama to a hilarious new level. While the rest of Team World was busy swapping signatures, Jokic approached the San Antonio Spurs with a specific request.

“Where’s the alien? I want an alien,” Jokic was heard saying, referring to Vembanayama’s iconic logo. Without missing a beat, Wembanyama responded, “Say less,” before making his signature allegorical mark on Jokic’s jersey. It was a light-hearted moment between two generational big men who clearly share a huge amount of mutual respect despite being rivals in the Western Conference.

While the jersey swap was all smiles, the actual game saw a bit more bite than in recent years. Under the league’s new round-robin format, Vembanyama proved he was not just there for the vibes. The French star led Team World with 14 points and 6 rebounds in the opening matchup against the USA Stars.

The game became a complete thriller, ending in five overtime periods from the first. After Anthony Edwards forced extra frames with a clutch triple, Wembanyama countered with a three-pointer of his own. However, Scottie Barnes of the Toronto Raptors played spoiler, draining a game-ending 3-pointer to secure a 37–35 victory for the Americans.

Vembanyama did not slow down in his second innings of the day. He scored an impressive 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting in a close 48–45 loss to the USA Stripes. He almost forced another overtime, but his last-second attempt from deep fell short as the buzzer sounded.

Jokic, meanwhile, kept things classic, focusing more on facilitating and enjoying the spectacle while playing minimal minutes to manage his health following a knee injury in late December.

Matas Bouzelis finds ‘inspiration’ in Derrick Rose jersey retirement

Chicago native Matas Buzzelis continues to move forward. The second-year guard for the Chicago Bulls participated in the Rising Stars Game on Friday to kick off NBA All-Star Weekend. In the process, Bouzelis has long-term All-Star aspirations.

Derrick Rose’s desire to go far can be attributed to seeing his jersey retired by the Bulls. According to SiriusXM NBA Radio, during All-Star weekend, Bouzelis reflected on the ceremony and what it meant to him.

“It really put more motivation in my mind,” Buzzellis said.

Rose had his jersey retired after the Bulls’ game against the Boston Celtics on January 24. He is one of four other Chicago players to receive this honor. The others were Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Jerry Sloan and Bob Love.

Currently, Bouzelis is at a point where he is making his mark. Of course, he’s still adjusting to a new dynamic after the Bulls traded seven players during the trade deadline. Those players included Coby White, Ayo Dosunmu and Nikola Vucevic, all of whom played important roles in mentoring Buzzellis in his freshman year.

Right now, the Bulls are 24-31 and in the midst of a six-game losing streak. Also, they have lost 9 of their last 10 matches.

Currently, Bouzelis is averaging 15.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Buzzellis attended Hinsdale Central High School in the Chicago suburb of Hinsdale for his freshman and sophomore years.

Rose is a native of Englewood. NBA All-Star Weekend will conclude with the All-Star Game on Sunday.

Next, the Bulls will return to action on Thursday, February 19 against the Toronto Raptors.
