After months of Minnesota Vikings trade rumors, the front office agreed to send out Jonathan Greenard over draft weekend. While 2024 first-round pick Dallas Turner is set to replace Greenard’s spot in the starting lineup, where he will play opposite Andrew Van Ginkel, the Vikings’ forward depth is undoubtedly thin.

Prior to this, the Vikings had a strong three-man rotation. Behind Turner and Van Ginkel, they have a trio of former undrafted free agents in Bo Richter, Tyler Batty and Chase Chambliss, all unproven players with less than three years of experience. Thus, Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores is likely aiming to sign another pass-rusher before the season starts.

Floyd recorded 19 pressures last year, which was actually the fewest in his eight-year career. He only had 3.5 sacks, the second fewest of his career. So, why would the Vikings want him? While the 33-year-old Floyd is coming off a rough season, even those numbers would be respectable as a rotational edge rusher, especially if Coach Flores thinks there’s a chance Floyd can return to top form in 2024 after recording 8.5 sacks. Plus, Kevin O’Connell and Floyd overlapped for two seasons on the Rams, so he already knows what the veteran will add to the locker room.

AJ Ebenezer

Still only 27 years old, AJ Epenesa may still have some untapped potential hidden in his bones. He has never recorded more than 6.5 sacks in a season, but he has recorded at least 6 sacks in three of his six playing seasons. This is a respectable track record, considering he has only once started more than two games in a season. The Vikings’ coaching staff may feel like they can get the most out of the 6-foot-6-inch, 260-pound defender.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft is somehow still only 33 years old, and he’s become a bit of a journeyman, but still a productive guy. Last year, he recorded 8.5 sacks as a member of the Cowboys, despite only making six starts and appearing in 13 games. Clowney also has a very high floor and a high ceiling, having recorded over 20 pressures in each of the last three seasons.

Last year, Dallas Turner and Jonathan Greenard tied for the Vikings lead with 24 pressures. This is the same pressure that Joey Bosa generated. Bosa is a five-time Pro Bowler who won’t turn 31 until July. Although he hasn’t had a double-digit sack season since 2021, the Vikings don’t need him to be a superstar; They just need someone who can generate pressure on demand, and Bosa certainly fits the bill.

It’s hard to get excited about anything related to Jonathan Kuminga’s reunion with the Golden State Warriors.

Instead of a passionate revenge game full of bad blood and blood, all we got from both sides were hugs and uninspired performances. On one end, we got to see a poor performance from the Warriors as they lost to the Atlanta Hawks 126-110. And Kuminga, on the other hand, went 1 of 9 for two points, four rebounds, two turnovers and a -6 plus/minus in 22 minutes.

Unless you enjoyed Dyson Daniels’ 28 points and the Hawks’ 48-16 run between the second and third quarters, the Kuminga-Warriors reunion was mostly chalk and cheese.

“It felt like a normal game,” Kuminga said at his locker after the game. “I’m excited to see my old teammates and some of my guys there. It was great, and I was happy to see them.”

That happiness was visible when Kuminga spent a lot of time after the game congratulating his former teammates, hugging his old coaches and talking to his past veteran teammates. He talked to Stephen Curry for the longest time, the two had a conversation at halfcourt after the game. And in the locker room, Kuminga gave a shout-out to Draymond Green about a good moment they shared when he first entered the game.

“He’s my vet, he’s my OG,” Kuminga said. “You know me and Draymond have always had a great relationship, a brotherly relationship. We were just hanging out.”

Kuminga even leaned over and hugged Steve Kerr, despite the two having disagreements over his role and fit with Golden State. Kerr has always said that the difficulties in their relationship have always been purely basketball and nothing personal, which he reiterated before the game.

Kerr said, “I like Jonathan. We always got along well.” “The basketball part was the hard part. We couldn’t provide him what he needed, and vice versa. We were a championship team – he really needed a lot of freedom and 35 minutes to make mistakes and grow and learn because he came in with so little experience, and we couldn’t offer him that – the basics.”

Looks like the next chapter is going well so far. Hawks coach Quin Snyder said pregame that Kuminga has tried to fit into what Atlanta wants to do. And what they’ve asked of him is simple, “Defend and run,” Snyder told reporters, adding that Kerr and the Warriors said the same thing to Kuminga during his Golden State tenure.

Regardless, while Kuminga and Kerr’s basketball disagreements pushed their relationship to the breaking point, he is still wishing the best for the young forward. As Kerr said, it was never personal between the two. Just an unfortunate situation in which neither side got what they needed.

“We offered him what we could,” Kerr said. “Which was 25 minutes and was a role he didn’t like. And it was never comfortable for either party on the basketball floor… We had our differences in our conversations about basketball, but on a personal level, we’re all here for him. Well-liked in our locker room. And I’m sure people are looking forward to seeing him.”

And based on Kuminga’s warm reception after the game, it looks like the bonds he’s made with Curry, Green and the rest of the Warriors will last even if they go their separate ways.

“I talk to most of them,” Kuminga said. “I try as hard as I can. But we still have great friendships and relationships like they’re my brothers. If they need something I can call them anytime, and if they need something they can call me anytime, so I think that shows a lot. Our relationship is very strong, and at the end of the day we’re brothers.”

With the Hawks, it feels like Kuminga has more latitude to make mistakes without getting stretched, and that’s only going to boost his confidence.

When he comes in he gives a boost to the second unit, moves the ball and creates contact in the paint for easy points. Quin Snyder has also given him minutes alongside Johnson, and it will be interesting to see how the pair continues to work as the season winds down.

If Kuminga proves to be an important part of the Hawks and fits in with the team for the remainder of the season, there is a chance they could decline his team option and sign him to a longer contract.

Kuminga is a perfect fit for Hawks general manager Onsi Saleh looking to build a team full of athletic wings who can play multiple positions and switch defensively, and the fact that former number one overall pick Zachary Rishachar is back in his second season could make Kuminga’s long-term contract a sensible option for Atlanta.

Meanwhile, the Hawks have risen up the Eastern Conference standings amid their winning streak, now sitting just 1.5 games out of the fifth seed, though some skeptics are pointing to the lack of quality teams Atlanta has played during their streak as a reason not to take it seriously.

The Hawks will get a chance to test their skills against a playoff-caliber opponent on Friday evening when they go on the road to take on the Houston Rockets.

According to ClutchPoints NBA insider Brett Siegel, Isaac did not return to action and after the game, he underwent an MRI, which confirmed he was dealing with a left knee sprain. Considering the Magic big man’s injury history, it’s very possible the team is being cautious when it comes to his recovery process – leaving his status in doubt for the remainder of the season.

With just a month left until the regular season begins, it’s likely this injury will keep Isaac out of the final 17 games of the Magic’s season. Orlando will probably want to protect him anyway to qualify for the playoffs, as he could be a difference-maker on defense despite his injury history.

Magic requires the next man to step forward

As mentioned earlier, injuries have made the 2025-26 season challenging at times for the Magic. They even nearly lost to a hapless Wizards team that allowed Bam Adebayo to score 83 points. On Thursday, Franz Wagner and Anthony Black, two important members of the team, were still out due to their respective injuries, and now, Isaac has joined both of them.

At the very least, the Magic have solid depth at the big man spots to compensate for Isaac’s absence. Wendell Carter Jr., Goga Bitadze, and Mo Wagner could all help cover his impending absence, while Tristan Da Silva will have all the minutes he can handle.

The Atlanta Hawks are currently on a seven-game winning streak, and they are planning to make it eight when they face off against the Brooklyn Nets. It was the win against the Nets that started their streak, and hopefully they can continue it as they try to climb the Eastern Conference standings.

Former NBA center Kendrick Perkins criticized Steve Kerr following the Golden State Warriors’ decision to trade Jonathan Kuminga to the Atlanta Hawks.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Road Trippin’ Show, Perkins questioned Kerr’s confidence in Kuminga’s ability after the 23-year-old’s strong debut in Atlanta.

After the epic play, Hawks legend and commentator Dominique Wilkins shouted out the Warriors for their role in the Kuminga deal.

“Thank you to the Golden State Warriors. We appreciate it,” Wilkins said. “…How you give up on a young man with that potential is beyond me.”

Making matters more embarrassing for the Warriors is the fact that Porzingis has played just one game in Golden State, suffering from an illness that also plagued him during his brief stint with Atlanta.

Overall, Kuminga fits the Hawks’ vision of building a team of young, athletic wings who can run the floor and push the ball in transition. It should be noted that Kuminga’s three appearances in Atlanta have come against less than stellar competition, but for Atlanta fans who have endured a disappointing 2025-26 season so far, they are glad they have something to cheer about.

There are certainly concerns about having Kuminga, Jalen Johnson and Dyson Daniels out of the lineup, especially as it relates to the trio’s ability to drain perimeter shots. However, if they can improve in that department, Atlanta could have an interesting young tandem of versatile wings on their hands.

In any case, the Hawks will look to pick up their fifth consecutive win against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night.

Forget everything that happened in the last months after the Golden State Warriors made the trade. Kuminga always had the skills to make an impact in wins, but at some points he was not given much of a chance to do so. Kuminga finished the game with 27 points, seven rebounds and four assists. No Hawk debuted with 25+ points in less than 30 minutes.

“I got confidence from my teammates,” Kuminga told reporters after the game. “They told me not to worry about anything. Just go out there and be you. Everything will be OK. I had a lot of people in my ear telling me to go, be you, play basketball. The first two minutes I was just thinking about it, but after that, everything was good.”

Head coach Quin Snyder always talks about the fundamental things the Hawks need to do to win games. Pass the ball, defend and run. Kuminga surpassed all those standards in his debut.

Snyder said, “Things we talked about as a team were obviously a focal point. Playing with the pass, that’s what you’ve heard me say since October, and he really demonstrated it right away to the point where I told him it was OK to shoot, too. But he allowed himself to come into the game, how he connected with his teammates and let the game come to him. I think it shows a lot of maturity on his part and how he feels about the group.” Let’s do it.

“For people who really know me, all my teeth are out. I’m smiling, I’m laughing all the time,” Kuminga said. “Since I’ve been here, just being with the guys, I’ve developed a bond with them. Good people, good team. We all want to win. Winning comes with joy, so as long as we’re all out there enjoying ourselves, it’ll help us win games.”

This was just the beginning, but it was a good start for Kuminga. For people to really move forward, they just need a change of scenery to become the best version of themselves. It seems like this is exactly what Kuminga needed, and he could be with a team that can help him get to where he wants to go in his career.

Kuminga isn’t going to score 27 points in 24 minutes every game. He won’t have 12 shot attempts. He knows this, but his entire focus is on winning.

“It doesn’t matter if I go out there and hit two shots. As long as it’s impacting us to win, that’s what really matters,” Kuminga said.

On Tuesday night, Jonathan Kuminga made his highly anticipated debut for the Atlanta Hawks after the Golden State Warriors decided to trade him along with Buddy Hield in exchange for Kristaps Porzingis. And as it (unfortunately) happened, the Hawks’ main man and starting power forward Jalen Johnson had to exit early with a hip injury – paving the way for Kuminga to defeat the Washington Wizards in his first game with his new team.

Kuminga, in just 24 minutes off the bench, scored 27 points on 9-12 shooting from the field, leading all players in scoring in the process. If Johnson were to miss time for the Hawks, Kuminga would be called upon to take on a larger scoring load, and based on early returns, he is capable of doing so for a team looking to establish itself as a playoff team.

As a result of Kuminga’s lackluster first game in a Hawks uniform, some Warriors fans expressed disappointment that head coach Steve Kerr could not make things work in Kuminga’s five seasons with the team, especially after Golden State lost a close game against the lifeless New Orleans Pelicans.

“I’ll never forget what Kerr did to Kuminga,” wrote X user @__pettyhardaway.

“As surely as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, some people are going to say, ‘Well, Kuminga didn’t do it for Golden State…’. Well, I say it, it’s hard to do anything off the bench,” @Rickygreeneyze said.

The Atlanta Hawks have a chance to get back fully healthy for the first time in a long time, as Jonathan Kuminga’s status has been upgraded ahead of their matchup against the Washington Wizards. The Hawks recently made a lineup change, inserting C.J. McCollum into the starting lineup and moving Zachary Risacher off the bench. Head coach Quin Snyder said after their win against the Brooklyn Nets that the Hawks are better statistically when McCollum is on the floor with Dyson Daniels, Nickell Alexander-Walker, Jalen Johnson and Onyeka Okongwu, which proves why they made the move.

With Risacher being a wing, it will be interesting to see how those minutes off the bench are allocated when Kuminga is healthy, and if he can be on the floor at the same time.

When Kuminga is ready to play, he should be a nice addition to the Hawks’ rotation, as he showed during his time with the Warriors that he can use his athleticism to get anywhere on the floor. Unfortunately, his role with the Warriors wasn’t very clear, and it seemed like there was growing tension between the two sides over the past few seasons.

With the Hawks, the hope is that Kuminga can find a consistent role for the remainder of the season, and if he plays well, they may accept his team option and keep him for the future.

There’s a good chance he’ll play behind Jalen Johnson, but there could be some scenarios where head coach Quin Snyder decides to put them on the field together.
