Los Angeles Lakers are doing great these days and they are led by Luka Doncic and his brilliant play. In their latest win against the Miami Heat, Doncic finished with 60 points, and it looked like he accomplished it with ease. His 60th point did not come until 14.8 seconds remained in the game when he was at the free-throw line.

The last time a Lakers player scored 60 points was Kobe Bryant in his last game, and funnily enough, he also scored his 60th point at the free-throw line with 14.8 seconds left.

It’s always nice when you’re in the same company with Bryant, and few players have had that honor over the past two weeks. As long as Doncic is on the Lakers, there’s a good chance for him to be in the same conversation as Bryant for some stats that no one except ESPN knows about.

Doncic has been in scoring position the last few games, and it has lifted the Lakers up and separated them from other teams in the Western Conference. Whether it’s a high-scoring game or a game-winner, Doncic has come through for the Lakers in what has possibly been their most important stretch of the season.

If he continues to play like this, it will help the team make more room among the others trying to reach the No. 3 seed. They are currently 45-25 and have a two-game lead against the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are the No. 4 seed.

There’s no doubt that Doncic and the Lakers are moving at the right time, and they could be a team that many will want to avoid when the playoffs arrive. In the last two seasons they were eliminated in the first round, but things could be different this season.

Doncic led the Lakers to their sixth straight win in defeating the Houston Rockets 100-92 at Toyota Center on Monday. He had a game-high 36 points on 14-of-27 shooting, six rebounds, four assists and two steals.

It was a strong follow-up to his courageous performance against the Denver Nuggets at Crypto.com Arena on Saturday, in which he scored the game-winning bucket, 127-125, in overtime. He finished with a triple-double of 30 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists.

Oh, he also dropped 51 points in Thursday’s 142-130 win at home over the Chicago Bulls.

According to ESPN Insights, Doncic has averaged 37.8 points in his last six games. Most in team history Bryant’s 39.5 points in a six-game span since the 2011–2012 season.

While he is more of a passer than Bryant, Doncic can easily make it on offense when needed. After all, he is the league’s leading scorer with 32.8 points – the second-highest total in his career. He is on his way to winning his second scoring title.

The 27-year-old star has often praised Bryant, the two-time scoring champion, for being an inspiration, including mentoring him during his freshman year.

Cooper Flagg, how the Mavericks played against the Cavaliers

Cooper Flagg’s historic efforts were not enough as the Cavaliers’ offense was too much for the Mavericks in a blowout loss at home.

Five players, including Flagg, scored in double figures for Dallas in the loss. Najee Marshall came in next with a solid performance of 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists and one steal. Dallas fell to a 22–45 record on the season and finished 12th in the Western Conference standings. They are above the New Orleans Pelicans and Utah Jazz while trailing the Memphis Grizzlies and Portland Trail Blazers.

The Mavericks will look to bounce back in their next match at home. They will host the Cavaliers in a rematch as tip-off will take place on March 15 at 3:30 PM ET.

After the historic 83-point game, Adebayo told ClutchPoints it didn’t matter to him that he made history until he hugged his mother and Wilson as they both witnessed the tremendous work he did. Wilson would echo those sentiments when speaking to the media alongside Adebayo on Tuesday.

One player on the court for the Jazz that night was Gordon Hayward, and recently, the former NBA wing talked about why Bryant’s 60-point game needs a little context.

“That game was different than any game I’ve ever been a part of… I think he took 50 shots, something like that, so that wasn’t even a legitimate game. Both teams were out. We knew we weren’t getting to the playoffs, they knew they weren’t getting to the playoffs,” Hayward, formerly of SiriusXM, said on Twitter, according to SiriusXM NBA Radio.

However, he made sure to clarify that regardless of the shot attempt statistics, Bryant’s accomplishment was still impressive.

He said, “Obviously, we weren’t just letting him score… His last three minutes were completely different than the last three minutes of the Miami game. His last three minutes in that game were great. It was like old Kobe for three minutes.”

Many have taken issue with the Heat’s late-game strategy on Tuesday to get Adebayo more shot attempts and free throws, claiming that it does not fall into the “ethical” category of scoring records.

Still, no one will ever forget that monster game, or Bryant’s 60-point career finale.

“Based on human nature, his death puts more weight on each of his best-loved adventures and creates a feeling that they should be handled with a certain kind of care. And judging by the reaction of some of the people from Bryant’s past with whom I was in touch after Adebayo’s exit, this feeling was not unique,” Amick said.

He claimed that Adebayo’s record-breaking night was also the result of ‘stat-chasing’ and that the potential decision to step down would have been seen as a noble decision. Of course, his teammates also ended up committing fouls to help him score points.

“What will be less noted is how the Heat helped Adebayo with his total, drawing intentional fouls in those final minutes to put the game away and ultimately giving him two final free throws with 1:16 remaining before he left.”

Adebayo finished with 20-42 from the field and 7-22 from beyond the arc. They converted 36-43 of their free throws and relied on fouls to keep points.

Amick concluded, “Still, Adebayo’s performance was very different from Bryant’s, and you didn’t have to watch his entire inning to see that much.”

Of course, fans could argue the opposite, and claim the fact that Adebayo passed Bryant was not a case of lack of respect. Given the modern NBA’s consistently huge point totals, Kobe’s record was always in danger.

Kobe Bryant was second on the single-game scoring list for a long time, as he scored 81 points on February 22, 2006. No one thought that this figure would also be crossed. The Miami Heat center is a great player and one of the best in the league. However, he is far from the first player that fans would have guessed could have such an insane scoring game. Stephen Curry has a career high of 62 points. He’s an all-time great and arguably the best point guard of all time, but in reality, he’s probably past his peak. Because of that, since he has yet to score even 70 points in a game, he may not be able to do so at some point in the future. Still, the mathematics behind his game needs to be included in this list.

Curry is the best 3-point shooter in NBA history. Fans have seen him go hot many times before, and his 4,233 3-pointers in his career are 891 more than second place. Curry doesn’t just make wide-open ones. He gets up and makes shots from beyond the arc, and he can intercept long bombs off speed and go off balance to the point where defenders can’t really guard him; They just have to pray he misses.

Even at the age of 37, fans can expect a lot more amazing shooting performances from Curry, and perhaps he can take it to the next level after seeing Adebayo’s performance. It helps Curry’s case that he is more than just an outside shooter. He can get anywhere on the court with one of the best handles in NBA history, and he is well known for making circus shots, which will definitely help his 80-point goal. Curry has previously mentioned playing in a flow state, and if he just focused on scoring on the night he was unconscious, he could have scored 80 points.

Although they didn’t make this list, Joel Embiid, Damian Lillard and Donovan Mitchell have all crossed the 70-point threshold before, so they shouldn’t be counted out of scoring 80 points in a day. Anthony Edwards is already one of the best scorers in the league, and Nikola Jokic deserves praise as well.

Again, Jokic’s passing ability means an 80-point performance is unlikely, but he may have the skill set to achieve it if he ever wants to, and a fellow center scoring 83 points in Adebayo only creates more realism for this possibility.

Curry’s former teammate Kevin Durant is also one of the greatest scorers in NBA history. In fact, many fans have voted him the greatest pure scorer of all time, with NBA GOAT Michael Jordan being the only player to give him a run for his money. Durant is reported to be 6 feet 9 inches tall, but in reality, he may be closer to 7 feet.

Despite this, there is no shot that Durant cannot make, which makes him truly vulnerable. He can score from mid-range, with his back to the basket, or from beyond the 3-point arc, and he hasn’t really stepped back since tearing his Achilles. Surprisingly, Durant has never even scored 60 points in a game.

His career-high in terms of scoring is just 55 points, as he has always focused on efficiency and never just conceded jack up shots. However, that doesn’t mean he isn’t one of the most likely players to score 80 points in a game. If Durant ever changes his mentality and wants to score as many points as possible, he has the scoring nature to go crazy, and there are not many players who can guard him.

In the event that Durant surpassed his career highs and defenses began to find a way to slow him down, he became too fast for the big men to guard him, and he could make his shot above most guards and wings. Durant’s 80-point game would be surprising considering he’s never gotten that close to that mark before, but it would be far less surprising than when Adebayo did it.

Devin Booker has been responsible for several all-time high-scoring games during his career. The most memorable thing is that the Phoenix Suns guard scored 70 points in 2017. His team wasn’t very good back then, which led to the Kentucky product getting the final nod. Sixty-plus, 70-plus, and now, 80-plus point scoring games were not as common then as they are becoming more so now, however, which required Booker to imitate Chamberlain and demonstrate his high scoring output in pencil on a piece of paper in the locker room after the game.

Adebayo fell short of Chamberlain’s single-game scoring record, but he followed up several iconic performances by dropping 83 points on the Washington Wizards. Of course, there was Bryant’s aforementioned 81-point performance, but Chamberlain also had another iconic scoring game in which he scored 78 points. Adebayo also beat Luka Doncic’s 73-point performance to tie for fifth all-time.

Doncic has proven he can get close to scoring 80 points. He has a methodical style of play that is difficult to defend. Doncic gets up and makes shots from beyond the 3-point arc, and his step-back is one of the best moves in basketball. He also has some of the best touches in the league. Doncic currently leads the NBA in scoring with 32.5 points per game.

Additionally, LeBron James is nearing retirement, and once one of the greatest players in NBA history is retired, there will be even more shots for Doncic. Then again, maybe the Slovenian star will get to 80 points before his partner in crime retires. After all, James is an incredible playmaker who demands attention on defense, which will make life easier on Doncic.

There is no denying that Victor Vembanyama is the future of the NBA. The French star, who plays for the San Antonio Spurs, stands 7 feet 4 inches tall. On the one hand, this has quickly made him one of the best defenders in the NBA, and he could take home Defensive Player of the Year awards on a consistent basis.

However, Vembanyama is also a unicorn when it comes to crime. Despite his size, Vembanyama has guard-like skills. He can hit step-back jumpers, put the ball on the floor and create rebounds, and hit fadeaways and turnarounds. Of course, Vembanyama’s size allows him to score inside with ease, as he barely has to try to dunk over anyone.

It’s going to be a night where Vembanyama will have serious mismatches and opposing teams will be unable to stop him. In that case, Vembanyama could potentially score 80 points, which would indicate that the future is now.

The defending MVP is on his way to winning his second consecutive award for being the best player in the NBA after his elite performance in which he scored 35 points en route to hitting the game-winner against the Nuggets. The Thunder have 13 or 14 players who can be in each team’s 10-man rotation, which means there are plenty of players to feed off. If Gilgeous-Alexander plays on a bad team, it’s not hard to imagine him averaging 40 points per game, and it’s almost less hard to imagine him scoring 80 points in a single game.

The MVP can really score whatever he wants. He has a reliable 3-point shot and is one of the best middies in the league. He probably scores better at the rim than any other guard, and he gets to the free throw line more often. If anyone is going to score 80 points again, or potentially even try to surpass Adebayo’s historic performance, it will surely be Gilgeous-Alexander.

While Luka Doncic handled most of the scoring with 26 points, James provided a steadying veteran presence that allowed Los Angeles to surge ahead in the second half.

The win was a collective effort for the Lakers, who improved to 35–24 on the season. DeAndre Ayton dominated the paint with four points and 10 rebounds, while the team’s perimeter defense limited the Warriors to just 27% shooting from deep.

Reaching this milestone further cements James’ legacy in the Purple and Gold. While he is already the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, achieving this specific feat with the Lakers highlights his continued excellence and adaptation since arriving in 2018.

As the Lakers push to clinch a higher seed in the Western Conference, they will need this version of James, who can still dominate play from beyond the arc, to make a deep playoff run.

The Forum opened in 1967 in Inglewood, California as an architectural marvel of its time and immediately became one of the most recognized indoor venues in the world. The arena featured the Los Angeles Lakers throughout the “Showtime Lakers” era, with the Los Angeles Kings and Wayne Gretzky also gracing the ice.

The Lakers notably moved to Staples Center in 1999, but not before Kobe Bryant was able to play his first three seasons (1996, 1997, 1998) on the same floor as legends like Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar during their iconic careers. Paying homage to that early “Mamba magic,” the pair are inspired by the lights that illuminated the Forum during its heyday.

Based on an updated Nike Kobe 3 Low silhouette, the colorway has been identified as Doll/Pink Foam/White To simulate light pink lighting around the forum. We see a lavender purple hue on the rubber webbed upper, which appears slightly translucent to match the lighter shade of the outsole. A black line along the midsole leads into the rear heel plate, matching the black sockliner.

While the look is still limited, we see chrome Nike branding throughout and the Mamba tongue logo. The laces and tongue are dressed in White mesh to provide further contrast, completing the overall palette for this interesting colorway.

We’re still awaiting an official release date, but the Nike Kobe 3 Low “Mamba Magic” is expected to drop sometime during the Spring of 2026. Expect an online release via Nike SNKRS as well as more stock at select Nike locations.

Jalen Brunson hails from New Jersey, but moved during his youth and attended Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois. Brunson’s accolades all four years have been high, including Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year (2014, 2015), three-time All-State selection, McDonald’s All-American (2015), Illinois Mr. Basketball (2015), and leading Stevenson to its first boys basketball IHSA 4A state title.

Honoring his illustrious career as a Stevenson Patriot, Brunson launches a new Nike Kobe 4 PE sneaker in the color scheme of his alma mater. Brunson notably decided to forgo his own signature sneakers with sponsor Nike and instead has an endless supply of the late great Kobe Bryant’s signature sneakers at his disposal.

Appearing in a predominantly White base above the iconic Nike Kobe 4, we see prominent hits of Yellow across the front medial and outsole, along with a plastic heel support. The toe, tongue, side panels, sockliner and rear half of the midsole are dressed in clean white, contrasted by forest green flywire on the side panels. The Nike Swoosh comes in a Shiny Metallic Green colorway framed by Gold and matching Black Mamba logo on the tongue.

Enhanced details include Kobe Bryant’s No. 8 and No. 24 embossed in leather on both heels as well as Bryant’s signature in green on the rear heel support. The finishing touch comes in the form of a tab on the inside of the tongue that reads ’15 State Champs’, modeled after the championship banner that Brunson helped raise in 2015.

There are only a few nicknames throughout sports history that immediately make you think of a specific player. In a story by ESPN’s Baxter Holmes, Nike’s creators originally intended to link the “Black Mamba” nickname to Michael Jordan. While Jordan is widely known as the “Black Cat” for his jaguar-like actions on the court and multiple sneaker colorways with the nickname, the Mamba concept was born while developing the Air Jordan 19 sneakers.

Michael Jordan wanted a new concept for the 19th sneaker in his signature collection, leading a design team to invent the first laceless basketball sneaker. The weave locking system resembled snakeskin, so the creative team came up with the idea of ​​branding Jordan as “The Black Mamba”.

Kobe Bryant emerging as “The Black Mamba”

As it turns out, Michael Jordan was “visibly uncomfortable” during the pitch because the creative team did not already know about Jordan’s fear of snakes. This mistake was entirely an afterthought, and Nike executives ran away from the idea for some time. That is, until Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers left Adidas and joined Nike in 2003.

The Charlotte Hornets are set to make the debut of guard Coby White, who is battling a left calf strain. White will be ready for Charlotte when the team takes on the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday. He is listed as probable on the team’s injury report.

White used to play for the Bulls, so this will be somewhat of a revenge game for the experienced guard. This season, White is averaging 18.6 points per game. After spending several years in Chicago, he was traded to the Hornets in early February.

Charlotte has a record of 27–31 on the season. The club has lost two of its last three matches.

Kobe set to debut for White Hornets

White played his college basketball at North Carolina, so he’ll be playing in front of a lot of fans in Charlotte. The talented guard has averaged double figures in scoring in almost every NBA season he has played.

White says he was not at all surprised to be traded.

“Every time in my career I was like, I don’t think [it] Was [going to] That’s really what happens,” White said, according to the Associated Press. “But with the circumstances now, you know, a lot of us are coming into free agency this summer. Anthony Edwards has certainly been having a great time lately. After winning the All-Star Tournament and MVP awards, Ant was once again the star for the Timberwolves as they recorded a dominant 122–11 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.

And well, in totally typical fashion, according to a post by the NBA on X, Edwards was seen showing off his MVP trophy to his teammates with a big smile on his face. Edwards can be seen patiently showing the trophy to each of his teammates before putting it back.

Playing his first game after the All-Star break, Ant made 16 of 30 shooting (53.3%), hit 5 of 13 from three, and added six rebounds in 38 minutes. Despite being the main focus of the hapless Mavericks defense, Edwards committed only three turnovers on the night.

The Mavericks struggled to keep up throughout and fell behind every time they threatened to take over the game. When Dallas erased a significant deficit and tied the game at 103 with 6:55 remaining, Edwards answered with a step-back three that reestablished Minnesota control.

Edwards scored 14 fourth-quarter points as the Timberwolves finally got comfortable and finished the game ahead by 11 points. The Timberwolves shot 16-of-42 from three (38.1%), leading to a 24-point advantage from beyond the arc.

Rudy Gobert delivered 22 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks, while Naz Reed provided ample support, adding 21 points and four three-pointers. For the Mavericks, Khris Middleton led the way with 18 points and Marvin Bagley produced a 15-point, 13-rebound double-double.

However, in the absence of several stars including Cooper Flagg, Max Christie and Kyrie Irving, the Mavericks struggled with their shooting all night and their team field-goal accuracy was 42.3%. This proved to be his downfall as ANT bounced back with his eighth 40-point game of the season, helping hand the Mavs their tenth consecutive loss.

Minnesota will now face the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday while the Mavericks will next face the Indiana Pacers.

According to Nike’s promotional warning label: “This collection is more than a threat. It’s a promise that the fierce nature and true colors of our athletes shine when they step onto the court.” The collection includes the Nike A’One (A’ja Wilson), Nike KD 18 (Kevin Durant), Nike Ja 3 (Ja Morant), Nike Sabrina 3 (Sabrina Ionescu), and Nike Freak 7 (Giannis Antetokounmpo).

The “Warning Label” Nike Kobe 3 Low comes dressed in a loud purple and rainbow color scheme that matches the general theme throughout the collection. The midsole, outsole, sockliner, and laces are all done up in the same soft purple hue. The hallmark feature is the iridescent color in the upper webbing, giving these an unmistakable and distinctive look.
