Brock Lesnar’s retirement from WWE may not be as straightforward as it seems. PWInsider reported on Monday that, despite being moved to the alumni section of WWE.com – a page usually reserved for wrestlers outside the company – Lesnar is still listed as an active performer internally and is considered a free agent, not assigned to any specific brand.

The report does not explain why he appears on the alumni page instead of the free agent section along with Omos, AJ Lee, Paige and others. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter added context to the situation.

Meltzer wrote, “Most people at the company believed this was not his retirement and no one would confirm that it was a true retirement.” “We were told straight up to take it as an angle, including from the same guy who warned us to take Seth Rollins’ first injury as an angle.

“Lesnar’s things are almost always kept a secret by design. Lesnar was very confident, and the situation became so big that it would almost be hopeless for him to retire again. Most people expected his retirement at SummerSlam, as it is in Minneapolis this year.”

SummerSlam being held in Minneapolis – Lesnar’s hometown – gives rise to hopes that the farewell tour is far from over. Retiring in front of a home crowd means more to him because he was born there and had the opportunity to wrestle for the university in college.

Brock Lesnar’s chest tattoo is one of the most recognizable images in the history of professional wrestling and combat sports. However, the story behind how it got there is far from the meticulous planning that usually goes into major body ink.

Speaking on the Spittin’ Chicklets podcast, Lesnar revealed that he had no memory of getting the tattoo and only realized it existed when he woke up the next morning. Lesnar told that this tattoo came during a difficult period of his life.

According to Lesnar’s own account, he had consumed half a gallon of vodka and some Vicodin before walking down the street at night and getting a sword tattooed on the center of his chest. Despite having no memory of the decision, when the fog cleared he remembered the emotional reasoning behind it. The symbolism, he said, reflected exactly where he was at that point in his life.

He was training for the NFL in Scottsdale, Arizona, when a motorcycle accident left him in a dark place mentally and physically. A combination of circumstances led to a night that ended with an unplanned trip to a tattoo shop.

“I got that tattoo, I was drunk in Scottsdale, Ariz.,” Lesnar said. “I was in Scottsdale training for the NFL, just got injured in a motorcycle accident, and I just got kicked ass. Like, I was going through all that stuff, and there was a tattoo shop across the street from the biker bar — and that’s not a good place for a tattoo shop. I got this tattoo, I didn’t even know I got such a bad thing. I wake up the next day, and I’m like, ‘What is this?'”

“The meaning behind it was, I felt like my back was against the wall, and someone had a sword, a knife stuck in my throat, like, ‘What are you going to do now?’” Lesnar said. “So, I went over there, I said, ‘Yeah, let’s put a big ugly sword on my chest.'”

Monday’s episode will take place at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas and will begin at 8:00 pm ET. On tonight’s show, AJ Lee defended the Women’s Intercontinental Title against Bayley. The show also features Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns.
