Aston Villa and Sunderland have men on standby as nervous wait for Arsenal star continues

Aston VillaIan Matsen and Sunderland‘Lutsharel Geertruida’ is on standby list in the Netherlands over concerns about armory Star Jurien Timbers.

NU has reported this The Aston Villa and Sunderland defender will remain on the standby list until Tuesday as Ronald Koeman waits to see if the Timbers can go to the World Cup.

Arsenal defenders are coming back

They report that while the Arsenal defender is back on the road after months of injury, Koeman doesn’t want to take any risks.

The right-back has been included in the 26-man squad for the World Cup, although he last played his match in March. He has not even trained with Arsenal for some time.

Koeman has until Tuesday to make changes to his selection. He is waiting until the last minute before deciding on the Arsenal defender.

“He had to train with the group for the first time today. (To see) if he can make it to the Champions League final. It remains to be seen,” he said at Wednesday’s press conference.

Aston Villa and Sunderland are on standby

Arsenal will play in the Champions League final on Saturday. Timbers was a regular this season but has been out since March with an ankle injury. He is also now recovering from a hip injury.

Koeman is waiting to see whether he features in the final before making his final decision. And that leaves Aston Villa and Sunderland on standby for their World Cup hopes.

Geertruida was part of the Netherlands squad in the last international break, having been a regular for Sunderland this season. Meanwhile, Matsson has played mostly on a substitute basis under Unai Emery at Aston Villa this season.

It remains to be seen who Koeman selects if Timbers is unavailable. For now, it appears he is hedging his bets. He is leaving defenders from Aston Villa and Sunderland on standby while he hopes to get the Arsenal player fit.

The Angels messed up the timing of the flyover, leaving the anthem singer nervous as things went off the rails

The Los Angeles Angels kicked off their 2026 home season Friday night with more than just terrible baseball — they served up another classic case of organizational chaos during pregame ceremonies.

As fans prepared for the matchup against the Seattle Mariners, the traditional national anthem performance immediately turned awkward when the timing of the flyover was completely derailed.

For the second year in a row, the coordinated military jet pass failed to keep up with the singer, forcing her to speak the final lines of “The Star-Spangled Banner” in front of a packed crowd.

It’s hard to tell who to blame here, so we’ll blame Angels management. This is the kind of thing that makes you the eternal little brother of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Anthem singer Alexandra Castle, a familiar voice at Angels games, handled the moment under pressure like a pro. She stopped several times and sang around “O’er the Land of the Free” as she waited for the jets to come overhead.

Video of the scene shows him apparently buying time while the expected roar of the engines remained silent, creating several seconds of uncomfortable dead air that quickly went viral.

Angels botch home opener flyover for second year in a row

missed it by that much.

This marks the second consecutive home opener where the Angels have screwed up the flyover-anthem sync, turning the patriotic highlight into an annual punchline.

Some fans defended Singer for immediately adapting, while others criticized the organization for failing to perform relatively simple pregame staples for two years.

Perhaps to the Angels’ benefit, that’s what everyone was talking about after the game. A game in which the Angels lost 3–1 after allowing one hit.

A hit in your home opener does not bode well for the future.

joe adele stole the show

Sure, the Angels once again found themselves trending for all the wrong reasons before even the first pitch was thrown, but they went viral again on Saturday. Well, especially an angel.

Right fielder Joe Adell took not one, not two, but three leaps over the wall to rob Mariners hitters of a home run. He did so in a game the Angels ultimately won 1–0.

That win moved the Angels to 4–5 on the season opener. Will this propel them to better things this season? Will the Halos brass immediately start working to make sure they don’t screw up next year’s home opener anthem?

only time will tell.

Club nervous over €100m Arsenal bid – contract on the table to stem summer concerns

Atletico Madrid are trying to sign a new contract for Julian Alvarez after Arsenal made a €100m bid for Julian Alvarez last year.

Journalist Ruben Urrea has told this on his YouTube channel ‘El Club Urrea’. Estadio Deportivo released their comments.

The newspaper reports that Atlético are making moves in an attempt to sign Alvarez to a new deal. Matteo Alemany is leading the negotiations and has already made an initial offer to the player and his agent.

The newspaper suggests this is an attempt to fend off potential suitors such as Arsenal and Barcelona.

arsenal interest

This is where urea comes into the mix. He explained that Alvarez had the opportunity to leave Atletico last summer. His 29 goals in 54 games led Mikel Arteta’s side to pursue him, but Atlético refused to negotiate.

“The English club offered him a five-year contract worth €12 million net per season,” the journalist reported.

“Arsenal offered Atlético de Madrid €100 million plus €20 million in bonuses for Julián Álvarez during the Club World Cup. The club declined, saying Julián Álvarez was not for sale.”

However, that interest has not gone away. While Atletico have made it clear they do not want to sell, the Gunners still fancy the Argentine. However he keeps rejecting them too.

“Arsenal remain interested in the player and, as of February 16, Julián Álvarez does not want to move to an English team or return to the Premier League,” he said.

“As far as I know, no candidate for the presidency of Barcelona has spoken to Julian Álvarez or met him. And Paris Saint-Germain have again inquired about the striker in this winter transfer window.”

battle of arsenal and chelsea

This latest report from Uría is the latest regarding Arsenal’s interest in Alvarez in the past few weeks. Sport Witness covered their interest last summer, and it has re-emerged in recent weeks.

It was named in a report earlier this month Arsenal as main favorites For striker. This was followed by a report stating that they were prepared to break the bank with Chelsea.

It was then said that Chelsea were quietly preparing a big bid for Alvarez this summer. It looks like they could be ready to take on the Gunners.

For now, Alvarez seems happy in Spain. But Atletico are clearly nervous and want to tie down the 26-year-old at any cost.
