GZT reports the 26-year-old’s comments today. Looks like he’s not closing the door on his former side anytime soon.

Ferdi Kadioglu joins Brighton on a €30m deal in 2024 from Fenerbahce, where he has been since 2018 following a €4.4m transfer from NEC Nijmegen.

He played 204 matches for Türkiye, scoring 19 goals and making 22 assists. He played more games for them, including 10 in their U21s, than all the other clubs combined.

His name is closely linked to the Süper Lig side. And, indeed, reports have often linked the Brighton defender to a return.

Now, he has admitted that it was difficult for him to leave Fenerbahçe. And while he is now in a different chapter at Brighton, ties with his former club remain strong.

“It was very difficult for me to leave Fenerbahce,” he told KAFA Sports YouTube channel.

“It was not easy at all. We had several meetings with Fenerbahçe. I really like the club; I love the city. I think everyone saw my interview when I left there. It was very emotional.

“Fenerbahçe is always in my heart. Who knows, maybe I’ll come back one day. I can’t promise it, but it would be nice if it happened.”

The question is whether such a comeback can happen soon for Ferdi Kadioglu. Brighton are unlikely to approve a deal.

The defender has featured in 91% of minutes in the Premier League this season. He has also been in the starting 11 89% of the time. In other words, he is a major player.

He is also tied to a deal until 2028 and includes the option of a further year. This suggests that any return to Fenerbahçe will not happen unless they offer a significant amount of money to do so.

Newcastle have been linked with a potential move for Christos Tzoulis this summer following the departure of Anthony Gordon.

The English forward is reportedly a target of Bayern Munich. This claim has been made in many reports in Germany Bayern see huge benefits from a deal this summer. Newcastle are also reportedly keen on striking a deal for the 25-year-old.

If he departs a replacement will be needed and reports have named Tzolis as a substitute. The 24-year-old has been impressing at Club Brugge since 2024, with 38 goals and 38 assists in 102 games so far.

He is now living up to early expectations and may be a big step forward. Twente are certainly hoping Newcastle will spend big.

€30m valuation

Christos Tzoulis is currently valued at €30m, and if Newcastle or someone else paid that price, Twente would receive €150,000. This would be a ‘nice bonus’ for the Dutch club.

But they also think they can move forward. Twente Insight reports that during the last transfer window, Newcastle paid no less than €35m in fees on their five signings.

They are clearly dabbling in the possibility of a big move for Christos Tzolis. This is even if they are only owed a small percentage of any deal.

However, it all depends on Anthony Gordon. If he departs for Bayern Munich in a big-money deal, Newcastle will have the money to spend big on a replacement like Tzolis. And if they do, Twente will be rubbing their hands.

They only have the winger on loan for one season in 2022, but FIFA’s solidarity plan will not affect him.
