Brian Gruda’s time at RB Leipzig is not over yet, with a farewell brighton and hove albion The loan was canceled at the last minute.

BILD reports that there has been a sudden change In RB Leipzig’s plans, that could mean he ends up staying there after all.

RB Leipzig farewell canceled

Sport Witness covered a report yesterday Explaining that Brejan Gruda is set to return to Brighton this summer. He is on loan at RB Leipzig but a permanent deal does not make financial sense for them.

Thus, they were planning to say goodbye to him this weekend, along with other departing players. Plans have now changed except for the BILD report.

While Xaver Schlager and Kosta Nedeljkovic will receive bouquets of flowers, the ‘farewell ceremony’ for Gruda has been canceled ‘at short notice’.

According to the newspaper, this follows ‘further lengthy negotiations’ with Gruda during the week. He made it clear that he is comfortable at the German club. After this the Bundesliga side decided not to bid him farewell.

Now talks with Brighton are ‘expected to intensify’ after the end of the season. The development offers a ‘ray of hope’ that Gruda can continue playing at RB Leipzig in the future.

brighton transfer demand

But there is still a long way to go to do so. According to BILD, Brighton are demanding a transfer fee of €30m for the 21-year-old.

Another loan deal may be a possibility, perhaps with an option or obligation to buy. The latter would suit Brighton perfectly. The next few weeks will be decisive in working on this.

One thing is for sure, Gruda is keen to stay in Leipzig. They are also keen to keep him with them. Coach Ole Werner made that clear this week.

“He was and still is an absolute asset to us. It’s been a win-win situation,” he said.

“What happens in the summer, we’ll see. But the fact that we all really enjoy working with him here, that he also enjoys being here, and that we play a style of football in which he can help us and in which he can develop further, is a good foundation.”

Now with his departure cancelled, there is clear belief that Leipzig will try to make a comeback. The deal has come alive again in a span of 24 hours.

Paulo Costa puts UFC on notice with one fight left on deal

Paulo Costa has important decisions to make after his third-round knockout of Azamat Murzakanov at UFC 327 in Miami. “Borrachinha” moved up to light heavyweight for the bout and handed previously undefeated Murzakanov the first defeat of his career, and has since revealed that his current deal with the UFC has almost expired.

Talking to AG. In the post-fight win, Costa was clear about where things stood contractually. “I have one fight left on this contract,” he said. “Let’s see what happens next. I think we’re probably in a good position to fight for the belt.”

Following a win over middleweight Roman Kopylov, the win over Murzakanov extended Costa’s win streak to two fights. Costa believes the quality of his recent opponents and the manner of his victories put him in a credible position to earn a title shot at 185 or 205 pounds. He specifically pointed to Murzakanov’s undefeated record and his sixth ranking in the official UFC light heavyweight rankings as proof that his latest win holds real significance in the title picture conversation.

With his contract expiring, the UFC has already approached Costa about an extension. His comments suggest he is in no rush to sign and wants to carefully evaluate his options before committing. “The UFC already wanted to renew the contract,” Costa said. “We’re seeing if we do one more thing and then sit down to negotiate.” He was also clear that his intention was not to simply test the market or look for a more attractive deal elsewhere. “I’m very grateful to the UFC,” he said. “But this is my life, right?”

Costa’s backstage interview time added an interesting layer to the evening’s events. Moments after he spoke, Carlos Ulberg defeated Jiri Prochazka in the opening round of the UFC 327 main event to capture the Light Heavyweight Championship, doing so on one leg after suffering an apparent knee injury during the fight. Ulberg has not yet disclosed a diagnosis or timetable for his return to the Octagon, which adds uncertainty to the 205-pound title picture that Costa now has his sights set on.

Jackson Smith-Njigba serves Seahawks notice with bold demand for next contract

Seattle Seahawks superstar Jackson Smith-Njigba revealed this week that he is not thinking about his next contract. But when it comes time to talk about it, his goal is to set a new NFL record.

After using their first-round pick in 2023 on an Ohio State receiver, Smith-Njigba is everything the Seahawks could have hoped for and more. After waiting in line behind team greats DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett during his rookie season, he made an immediate impact in his sophomore season.

In 2024, the pass catcher posted 100 catches for 1,130 yards and six touchdowns. Maintaining that level of play in the coming years would have made him the 20th overall pick three years ago. However, last season, he showed that he has the talent to dominate like an elite receiver.

In 2025, Jackson Smith-Njigba led the NFL with just under 1,800 yards, was third in touchdowns (10), and fourth in catches (119). Last season, Jayson emerged as one of the best wide receivers in the league. And it seems he wants to be paid the same when his current contract expires after the 2027 season.

“I’m not really under too much pressure to get right now [a new contract] It’s done,” Smith-Njigba told WFAA in Dallas on Friday. [h/t ESPN]. “I know my time is coming, and when we get through it, it will be great. God’s timing is perfect, so whenever that time comes, we will be ready for it.

“I believe I deserve the highest salary in my position. I give everything I have to the game and the community, and I think it’s worth much more.”

Heading into the 2026 campaign, Cincinnati Bengals superstar Jamar Chase is currently the highest-paid WR, as he signed a four-year deal worth $161 million last year. The deal pays him a little more than $40 million annually. However, this deal was also signed after the receivers post the Triple Crown in 2024.

If Jackson Smith-Njigba can reach that level next season, receiving more than $40 million per season may be necessary. But if he doesn’t, it will put the Seahawks in a difficult position as they may not have won the Super Bowl without JSn earlier this month.
