Celtic’s Benjamin Nygren says he did not return to Celtic Park on Wednesday after Martin O’Neill gave him the day off.
The Celtic player was part of the Sweden team that secured World Cup qualification during the March international break.
The Swede struggled in the early stages, leading to the departure of John Dahl Tomsson and the appointment of Graham Potter as his successor last October.
Potter led them to the World Cup playoffs, where Sweden faced Ukraine for the first time last week. A hat-trick from Arsenal striker Victor Gyöckeres helped them to a 3–1 win and the Celtic winger recorded an assist.
Sweden then faced Poland and Gyökeres’ goal in the 88th minute was the difference between the two countries in the end. The 24-year-old Bhoys attacker registered another assist.
