Jaylen Brown’s funny quip on St. Patrick’s Day Parade experience

Jaylen Brown had another strong performance for the Boston Celtics as they defeated the Phoenix Suns 120-112 on Monday at the TD Garden.

He and Devin Booker were face to face, but the final decision was Brown’s. He scored 41 points on 10 of 20 shooting and added four rebounds and five assists. Brown made 21 attempts from the free-throw line, and nearly outscored the Suns on his own.

In a video posted by Daniel Donabedian of ClutchPoints, he acknowledged the “MVP” chants he received from the crowd. He also shared this similar experience When he went to South Boston for St. Patrick’s Day.

“I was at Southee’s last night or yesterday, and I got some ‘MVP’ chants. I think that might have been a little nice,” the five-time All-Star said.

Brown, 29, who grew up in Georgia, said he enjoyed celebrating the special day for the first time.

Brown said, “I didn’t know it was a big deal. It felt like there were a million people there. It was cold, it was early in the morning, but it felt like the whole town was drunk.”

“I had a good time, just going out and saying hello to people from Boston and things like that. It’s great. Plus, I have some Irish in my blood. It made it more surreal.”

The one-time Finals MVP has made himself a Beantown darling since the Celtics selected him as the third overall pick in 2016.

If he leads the Celtics to their second championship in three seasons, of course, the entire city of Boston will be even more intoxicated.
