CM Punk’s WrestleMania 42 weekend didn’t end cleanly in the ring, and what happened in the early hours after the show made the night even more difficult.
According to footage obtained by TMZ, just hours after losing to Roman Reigns in the main event of Night Two at Allegiant Stadium, Punk clashed with a fan at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino just after midnight.
The incident started when a fan was filming Bailey while she was hugging someone in the hotel lobby. Punk proceeded to drop the fan’s phone. Ace Steel was also present and attempted to prevent the situation from escalating further as security arrived to separate everyone involved. The fan, who appeared visibly upset in the immediate aftermath, immediately backed away and apologized several times before leaving the area.
The confrontation did not escalate into a fight, but the tension was clear in the footage. Punk was seen backstage at Allegiant Stadium exhausted after his earlier loss to Reigns, openly admitting that the loss had affected him greatly. The hotel incident added another difficult chapter to an already disappointing night for the world heavyweight championship challenger.
It has not been publicly mentioned whether or not Punk will face any consequences from WWE over this incident. The footage is now circulating widely after being published by TMZ. WWE has not yet confirmed Punk’s status for tonight’s episode of Raw.
Seeing as this is the fallout version of the show for WrestleMania, Punk would be expected to be on the show. Here, WWE fans will find out where Punk will move forward without the World Heavyweight Championship.
Punk could go in two different directions – going after Reigns and the World Title for a rematch or going to a new program before Backlash next month.
