PSV Eindhoven star Ismail Saibari should consider a transfer Tottenham Hotspur This summer, as he has now done as much as possible in the Eredivisie.

This led many to urge that he should move on. For example, Aston Villa have been encouraged to make a move for him.

Boulahrouz recommends Tottenham transfer

Now, it appears that Boulahrouz feels it is time for a change. And he is recommending a move to Tottenham despite their current struggles.

“A lot of players would want to make a move, but probably nothing that would make you think I’m going to trade PSV for it,” he said on Rondo.

“When I look at Saibari: he has definitely played the Eredivisie. If you look at his statistics and his playing style: it’s good enough to make a transfer.

“He’s a Moroccan international, he’s got the Africa Cup behind him, and he’s going to play in the World Cup. Assuming he’s a starter and plays two good matches, you’ve just got to move on. Then you have to move on.

“I’m just curious what kind of club will come. He needs to go to an attacking team where he can come into his own. A good club: they are not in a good position at all, but he could add something extra to Tottenham Hotspur. I would go to a club where he could be important.”

Would it make sense for Tottenham?

The question is whether a move to Tottenham would make sense this summer. It’s easy to see Ismail Saibari fitting in under Roberto De Zerbi, but he already has plenty of options in the same position.

Xavi Simmons was an expensive addition last summer; James Maddison is still at the club and Dejan Kulusevski will return from injury next season as well.

Even further forward, Mathis Tell, Richarlison and Dominic Solanke are competing for places. A player currently valued at €32m would likely require a departure before a transfer could be considered.

This is even before considering their battle to stay in the Premier League. This is the main focus at the moment before the transfer is implemented. Boulahrouz has made his recommendation either way.

PSV Eindhoven’s decision to sell Ricardo Pepi to Fulham this week was a calculated move and one they had already planned.

According to Rik Elfrink of Eindhoven’s Dagblad, via football newsPSV deliberately approved the deal early as part of a long-standing policy designed to lock in guaranteed income before the window opens.

Elfrink points out that this approach has previously funded signings like Noah Lang and even Pepi himself following the lucrative exits of Cody Gakpo and Noni Maduke.

Four reasons why PSV now accepted Fulham’s offer

Elfrink gave four clear reasons why PSV was willing to do an immediate deal with Fulham:

1. PSV needed quick money to build their team

PSV prefer to secure their transfer budget before the window opens, allowing them to move decisively and quickly in the market.

2. The club now has financial certainty

With the Pepys fee locked in, PSV can plan their summer with clarity rather than wait for the World Cup to determine their value.

3. Pepi scored goals but did not fully meet PSV’s build-up demands

Elfrink says that while Pepi is an excellent finisher, PSV believe his off-ball and possession work does not line up perfectly with their long-term tactical model.

4. Pepi himself pressed for this step

The striker wanted to move to London and PSV were willing to honor that preference once Fulham’s valuation was met.

However, PSV’s decision has sparked debate within the Netherlands. On ESPN, Mario Beane called the move “surprising”. He argues that PSV could have earned more by waiting.

“If he has a good World Cup, the amount could be even higher,” He said.

Meanwhile, Hedviges Maduro questioned Fulham’s spending ability rather than PSV’s decision:

“Forty million for Fulham… and they took all those players from the Netherlands,” He added.

What does Ricardo Pepi’s move mean for Fulham?

Despite the debate, Fulham have their striker. Reports today say he has flown to London for a medical before sealing his exit from PSV.
