Police later reported that some fans had entered the stadium without tickets, delaying the security operation earlier in the day. The Scottish Police Federation later claimed that commanders failed to respond quickly to the overcrowding.

Two experienced options could fit Rangers profile

However, if Rangers are indeed monitoring the game with recruitment in mind, the two players involved in the match may represent more sensible targets.

Still, nothing is “guaranteed to happen” and “there is no timeline in mind to complete this move.” Therefore, fans will have to keep an eye on the situation.

“We are exploring the opportunity to create value for our shareholders by separating our two professional sports franchises into separate companies,” Dolan said in a statement, via The New York Times. “Both the Knicks and Rangers are dominant teams in their respective leagues, with storied histories and large and passionate fan bases.

He further added, “We believe this proposed transaction will provide each company with greater strategic flexibility, its own defined business focus and clearer attributes for investors.”

While Madison Square Garden’s board approved the plan, there were other factors involved. Both the NBA and NHL would have to approve the move. The New York Times also notes that “There are other views.”

Regarding the reason for this, some are speculating that such a move would make it “easier” for Dolan to sell one of the franchises. In 1994 the Dolan family became minority owners of the franchise. Shortly thereafter, he became the majority owner.

Dolan is adamant that he has no interest in selling teams. However, he and MSG executives have stated their interest in selling a minority stake.

Another possible reason for the move, as The New York Times notes, is that it could serve as a “precursor” to making the Knicks and Rangers privately traded teams. They are both currently publicly traded.

Rangers improved Danny Rohl’s squad as four new players arrived at Ibrox in the winter market.

New signings Ryan Naderi and Andreas Skov Olsen have already scored for Rangers, while Ture Romans managed an assist.

Rohl’s side are second in the table, two points behind leaders Hearts, and one point ahead of third-placed Celtic, who have a game in hand.

Rangers are fighting for the title this season and are also working on improving their squad over the summer.

Rangers in the picture for Coulibaly

The Middle East club have had positive discussions with his camp and are optimistic about reaching a deal with Lecy. The report states that Lecce are prepared to let the player leave for €4-5m.

The Saudi Pro League side aim to finalize the deal quickly, mainly due to the increasing competition. This occurs whenever the Ibrox club is mentioned.

Rangers have reportedly made enquiries to Sunderland for duo Dan Neil and Romaine Mundle.

Despite playing a key role in the Black Cats’ promotion to the Premier League last season, the pair have seen their playing time limited this term.

Academy graduate Neil captained his hometown club in their Play-Off Final win over Sheffield United at Wembley in May.

However, he has only featured three times in the top-flight in the 2025/26 campaign, having been replaced by Granit Xhaka in the Sunderland midfield.

Meanwhile, after a breakthrough year in the Championship last season, winger Mundle is yet to start in the top-flight this term.

Sky Sports report that the 22-year-old is keen for more regular game time, with Sunderland open to allowing him to leave on loan this month.

As for Neil, he is said to be on the radar of some Championship clubs, and is out of contract in the summer.

Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris appeared to suggest both players could be allowed to leave in January.

When asked about the prospect of Mundle leaving, he said: “If a player won’t play too much in the second part of the season, there is the possibility for him to find another club to get minutes.”
