Manager reaches agreement with Crystal Palace – Eagles’ ambitious budget and PL key in decision-making

crystal Palace Won the UEFA Conference League after beating Rayo Vallecano 1-0 last night.

Oliver Glasner led the Eagles to the FA Cup title last season, the first major trophy of his career. Since then, under his leadership Crystal Palace have won the Community Shield and now a European trophy.

The match against Rayo Vallecano was the Austrian’s last match with the Premier League team.

They are working on appointing Glasner’s successor and Andoni Ierola is in the running. The latter ended his three-year stint at AFC Bournemouth and is looking for a new club.

On Wednesday, Sports Witness Covered claims from Spain The Eagles made a multi-million pound offer for the 43-year-old. He also has an offer from AC Milan while Bayer Leverkusen are keen.

Irola chose Crystal Palace over Milan

Journalist Daniele Longo took xThe Spaniard did not respond to AC Milan’s report on what was previously known as Twitter.

At San Siro, there is a feeling he will ‘stick to the previous agreement’ with Crystal Palace.

Longo insisted that the manager made his decision on the Eagles based on ‘project and personal matters’ rather than ‘money and contracts’.

gazzetta dello sport Report that the coach, who is first choice for the Rossoneri, is moving to Crystal Palace.

It seems he has decided to accept the London club’s offer rather than Milan’s offer. After failing to qualify for the Champions League, the latter dismissed Massimiliano Allegri, CEO Giorgio Furlani, director Igli Tare and Geoffrey Moncada.

The Italian club will have a new management, which will have to build a new project from scratch, which will make the managerial task more complex.

A move to Selhurst Park would keep Andoni Ierola in the Premier League and allow his family to remain in England. He ‘can enter the market with an ambitious budget’ and that seems impossible with the Italian club.

Gazzetta says Ierola is joining the Eagles, who could announce the deal as early as Thursday.

Italian media unable to accept the verdict

The newspaper says: ‘In football in the early 2000s, no manager hesitated between AC Milan and a team finishing 15th in the Premier League.’

Crystal Palace have qualified for the Europa League after winning the UEFA Conference League. Gazeta did not pay attention to this.

The Italian media seem to be having difficulty accepting that Andoni Ierola prefers the Eagles to Milan, who compete for the title.

Caufield reaches 49 in seventh straight win

The Montreal Canadiens visit the New York Rangers on Thursday night to extend their late-season winning streak to seven games.

It was a fairly low-event game at first, but it picked up momentum over time and the Canadiens eventually emerged with a 3–2 victory.

As is tradition, Habs sniper Cole Caufield made his mark with two goals, taking his season tally to 49.

Let’s look at the highlights!

slow and steady

There were very few high-risk scoring chances in the first period, with the teams preferring to introduce a tentative style of play. It wasn’t until the second period that Alex Newhook broke the ice, providing further evidence that his presence on the second row has done wonders for the entire top six.

Rookie Ivan Demidov recorded his 43rd assist of the year, a continuation of his underrated rookie season in the NHL.

mr every night

Moments later, Cole Caulfield did the same, scoring his 48th goal in the process. As usual, Nick Suzuki and Juraj Slafkowski both participated in the scoring play, with the latter providing a typical assist to his linemate.

With seven games left in the regular season, Caufield’s chances of reaching the impressive 50-goal mark continue to improve.

protective shield

While it’s fair to say that rookie netminder Jacob Fowler performed well, it’s also important to note that the Canadiens did a very good job of minimizing high-danger scoring opportunities by the Rangers.

They limited New York to only three high-danger chances at 5v5 in the first 40 minutes of the game, one of their best defensive efforts of the season. There’s something to be said about the level of competition on Thursday nights, but the Habs have a tendency to underestimate their opponents, making their defensive armor an important step forward as they prepare for the rigors of the playoffs.

Second

The Rangers tied the game in the third period, which was the perfect setup for Caufield’s 49th goal of the year, which resulted from a spectacular individual effort.

The Canadiens had just won a defensive draw, which shows how quickly Caufield can make his presence felt on offense.

With this goal, Caulfield won 3-2.

The Montreal Canadiens will be back in action on Thursday facing the New Jersey Devils. Puck drop is scheduled for 7pm ET.

All Montreal Canadiens stats are 5v5, via Natural Stat Trick, unless otherwise noted.

Dach injured, Caufield reaches 40, Reinbacher

Here are the Montreal Canadiens news items, stories and content you may have missed Tuesday.

montreal canadiens news

It’s official! Cole Caufield is the first Canadiens player to reach 40 goals since Vincent Damphousse in 1993–94. Caufield scored the overtime winner against the Boston Bruins to secure two very important points in the playoff race. [Canadiens Highlights: Caufield Hits 40 In Crucial Win]

Speaking of Caufield, when asked what comes next after 40 he had a great response.

It should be noted that Caufield is now just one goal behind Jack Hughes for most goals scored by any player drafted in 2019, despite having played 62 fewer games than the New Jersey Devils forward.

More unfortunate news on the injury front is that Kirby Dach will miss two to four weeks with an upper body injury. Dach was forced to leave Sunday’s game after contact with Anaheim Ducks forward Jeffrey Wiel. With Dach out of commission, Zachary Bolduc returned to the lineup before the game against the Boston Bruins. [Canadiens Preview: Dobes Faces Bruins, Dach Injured]

It’s very easy to blame goaltending for all of Montreal’s problems this year, but the truth is that the Canadiens allow too many high-danger chances while creating too few to balance out their poor defensive play. Poor goal setting is a symptom of the problem, not the cause. [Playoff Discussion: Canadiens Issues Go Beyond Bad Goaltending]

David Rickenbacker has officially signed with Kent Hughes’ former management company Quartex. When it comes to Canadiens players represented by Shawn Coffey he joins Lane Hutson and Jacob Fowler. Blake Lizotte will miss the final four weeks of the Pittsburgh Penguins’ season after suffering an upper-body injury Saturday against the Utah Mammoth. The team simply tweeted that he would be reevaluated in four weeks but did not specify the nature of the injury. However, Lizotte appeared to injure his arm or wrist in the game against Utah and skated slowly off the ice while supporting his right hand. [Pittsburgh Penguins]

Atlanta reaches franchise milestone with win over 76ers

The Atlanta Hawks achieved a franchise milestone after a 125-116 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday night.

Atlanta has been an active franchise for 77 seasons since its inaugural campaign in 1949. He has experienced many victories throughout his lifetime so far, making 49 playoff appearances and even winning a championship.

All those wins allowed him to reach the peak of 3,000 wins, needing one more win to reach this milestone. Only five other teams have accomplished this feat, making it even more significant when Atlanta defeated Philadelphia to clinch the home win and make history.

“Tonight’s win, Atlanta’s season-best sixth consecutive win, marks the Hawks’ 3,000th franchise win, becoming the sixth team in NBA history with 3,000 wins,” the post read.

Atlanta got off to a slow start defensively and trailed 38–28 after the first quarter. Despite this, the hosts got back on track by taking control in the second half and outscoring Philadelphia 59–43 in the final 24 minutes of regulation.

Five players scored in double figures for Atlanta in the win. Jalen Johnson demolished Philadelphia’s defense with a stat line of 35 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and two steals. He made 12 of 19 shots from the field, including 2 of 4 from beyond the arc and 9 of 9 from the free-throw line. Rui Hachimura reaches injury report for Suns game

The Los Angeles Lakers find themselves on a two-game slump after a close loss to the Orlando Magic last time out and will visit the Phoenix Suns next Thursday. Los Angeles has done well in terms of availability in recent weeks and all three of LeBron James, Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves are expected to be fit.

However, Rui Hachimura is on the official injury report along with Jackson Hayes, with Hachimura listed as questionable and Hayes as probable. Hachimura is dealing with an illness, while Hayes is dealing with a right ankle sprain.

Along with these two, Bronny James and Edou Thiero have also been included, whose exit has been confirmed.

Given that Rui Hachimura is questionable on the injury report, his availability will likely be a game-time decision. He came off the bench to score 10 points and two steals against the Magic and could prove useful off the bench once again.

Meanwhile, the Suns are still missing Dillon Brooks, Devin Booker, Cole Anthony and Haywood Highsmith. The Lakers (34-23) have dropped to sixth place in the tightly packed Western Conference after suffering consecutive losses, including a loss to the Boston Celtics.

Meanwhile, the Suns (33-26) have dropped to seventh in the standings after losing seven of their last ten games. Hachimura is averaging 11.7 points and 3.4 rebounds per game and will add another threat against a team that has been largely depleted.

Phoenix currently leads the season series 2–1, making this fourth and final meeting important for potential postseason tiebreaker scenarios.

Lakers injury report

Rui Hachimura: doubtful (illness)

Jackson Hayes: Probable (right ankle; sprain)

Bronny James: Out (G League – On Assignment)

All-Star Weekend viewership reaches a milestone not seen in 24 years

Many people said that the NBA had an All-Star Weekend issue, and there may be some truth in that. Over the years, the All-Star Game has been criticized when it comes to the competitive nature of the competition. As far as All-Star Saturday Night goes, many people weren’t fans of how the dunk contest went.

According to NBA communications, there seems to be a big change this year and it is reflected in viewership.

“More than 46 million people in the US watched NBA All-Star weekend across NBC platforms and ESPN, the most in 24 years and more than triple the total from last season,” NBA Communications wrote on Twitter.

This is a huge deal for the NBA, and it shows that they are on the right track with the small changes they made this time. One of the things they did was change the format of the actual All-Star Game, because it was three different teams, and they played in a tournament-style game.

Players seemed to like this format, and with it performing so well, there’s a good chance Adam Silver will bring it back next year, and possibly for years to come.

As far as All-Star Saturday Night goes, the one thing that caught everyone’s attention this year was the three-point contest, as Damian Lillard won despite not playing this season for the Portland Trail Blazers.

The dunk may have been overwhelming for some people, but it is still a contest that everyone loves to watch.

The Rising Stars Challenge was also competitive this season and brought viewership throughout the weekend. There will likely be some changes for next year, but for the most part, it seems like the NBA may have done something right in the way it executed the week for fans.
