Big update on Doncic and Reeves’ impact on LeBron re-signing with the Lakers this summer

A new report suggests that if it’s up to Luka Doncic and Austin Reeves, LeBron James will be back in Los Angeles next season.

On Monday, the Lakers saw a disappointing end to their 2025-26 campaign as the Oklahoma City Thunder completed a stunning four-game sweep of the NBA Playoffs semifinals. Following their 115–110 loss at home, speculation immediately began regarding James’ future.

As of now, the basketball icon is unsure whether he will play again next season. However, if he does so, Los Angeles remains the favorite to retain his services. Nevertheless, there have been multiple reports regarding a growing rift between management and the 22-time All-Star as he reportedly feels he has been “taken for granted” by the team’s front office.

However, the big question is his fit in this team. Doncic and Reaves will be the faces of the franchise for a long time, especially if the Lakers sign a new long-term contract this summer. His views on James’ return will certainly be important for the management. And if it matters much, the four-time MVP will be back in purple and gold next season.

“A report that Los Angeles Lakers stars Luka Doncic and LeBron James are not getting along is not true,” sources reportedly told the Dallas Hoops Journal. “Doncic and James have a positive relationship, and Doncic wants James to rejoin the Lakers this summer.”

“Austin Reaves, who will decline his player option for next season, is expected to re-sign with the Lakers this summer,” the outlet said. “The undrafted guard also has a close relationship with James and wants James to continue playing for the Purple and Gold if he does not retire from the NBA.”

At least when it comes to the Lakers’ top two players moving forward, they both want the future Hall of Famer back on the team for at least one more season.

Big update on the Cleveland Browns possibly re-signing Deshaun Watson after the 2026 season

Even if Deshaun Watson has a big bounceback season in 2026, a top NFL insider claims there is no chance the Cleveland Browns will try to re-sign him.

Frustratingly for Browns fans, it is very likely that Watson will be the team’s starting quarterback this season. This thought sends a shiver down the spine of Cleveland supporters as the three-time Pro Bowl has been a complete disaster for the franchise.

After arriving in 2022 with a fully guaranteed contract worth $230 million, Watson has played only 19 games and missed all of the 2025 season recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon a year ago. Still, when he played, he looked like a shell of the player fans had seen with the Houston Texans. Posting a 9-10 record as a starter and 19 touchdowns to 12 interceptions.

Despite a horrific sexual assault scandal, the Browns took a huge risk by trading for Watson. The risk didn’t pay off and actually backfired on him because his contract was a prop on his payroll and not tradable.

Still, due to Cleveland’s weak QB room, Watson has a strong chance to be new head coach Todd Monken’s choice to be his Week 1 starter. While it’s not expected, it’s not impossible that Watson will have a great season in 2026. He is still only 30 years old, and the team’s new system could help him recapture his Pro Bowl form.

So, does this mean the Browns could re-sign Deshaun Watson if he performs well next season? Not a chance, claims ESPN’s Dan Graziano.

“Now, I want to be clear: I don’t think there’s a world in which Watson plays well enough this season to convince the Browns to re-sign him and move forward with him as the franchise QB of the future. He’ll turn 31 in September. The contract has been completely disastrous in every possible way. And the team owner has publicly acknowledged it.”

Rest easy, Browns fans. 2026 may be a big year for Deshaun Watson, but it will be his last year in Cleveland.

Russell Westbrook expressed interest in re-signing with the Sacramento Kings

Future Hall of Famer Russell Westbrook was a late addition to the Sacramento Kings roster ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season, signing a one-year deal in October. As he is now preparing to enter NBA free agency again, a comeback may be in the offing.

Speaking to reporters in his final press conference following Sunday’s regular season finale, Westbrook said he would play for the Kings again next season if he wanted back.

“If I’m welcomed back I’ll come back.”

When Westbrook signed with Sacramento, the expectation was that he would serve as the backup point guard behind the signing of free-agent Dennis Schroder. However, the 37-year-old guard ultimately overtook Schroder as Sacramento’s starter.

For the first time since his 21-game stint with the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2022-23 campaign, Westbrook averaged more than 15 points per game this season. He finished with his highest total in three-pointers made per game (2.0) since the 2016–17 season with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Westbrook was well-liked in the locker room and his veteran presence certainly proved an advantage to younger players like Dylan Cardwell, Maxime Renaud and Nick Clifford.

Given the possibility of the Kings landing the cornerstone guard with the top pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, re-signing Westbrook could be the perfect way for the franchise to help ease the new player into a rebuilding team. Additionally, given Westbrook’s lack of interest in NBA free agency last summer, a return to a one-year minimum contract is a real possibility.

CJ McCollum’s cheeky response to re-signing in Atlanta

CJ McCollum has been a big reason for the Atlanta Hawks’ success since the All-Star break, and the numbers show it. The Hawks are on a nine-game winning streak, and at this point they are only concerned with trying to keep this momentum going and move up in the Eastern Conference standings.

At the same time, there are questions that will need to be answered at the end of the season, one of which is regarding McCallum’s future with the team. The veteran guard’s contract is expiring, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he had multiple suitors when free agency opens.

McCollum was asked by NBA insider Jake Fisher if he would welcome the opportunity to return to the Hawks, and his response was priceless.

“It’s not up to me, my friend,” McCallum said.

Fisher then talked about the options that McCollum would have, assuming a team that needs a scoring guard offers the same amount of money as the Hawks do.

“I love it here, man,” McCallum said. “I’m here for a reason. We’ll see. But right now, it’s about playing winning basketball and building on what we’ve done and piling up wins and piling up winning habits.”

For now, McCullum is focused on what’s in front of him and trying to make the playoffs. After his 30-point game against the Milwaukee Bucks, he mentioned that he was willing to do whatever it took to help the team.

“I’m just doing my job,” McCallum said. “When I came here I told them, whatever you guys need me to do, I’ll do. Come off the bench, start. Whatever it takes to be successful. I think for us it’s just been about timing, doing things the right way at the right time. And we have a good homestand.”
