Call it sentiment or professional pride, but the Pelicans are going to have to play this way for a long time. Haliburton and Siakam have proven that they can step up their games when it matters most for the Pacers, making them ideal players for Indiana to build a competitive team.

Pascal Siakam, Pacers face tough gap

Haliburton’s absence may grab most of the headlines, but the Pacers have been so hurt on almost every front that they’ve never had a chance to remain semi-competitive. Obi Toppin has missed a lot of time. So are Aaron Nesmith and Andrew Nembhard. Indiana began the season without TJ McConnell. Luck did not favor him this season.

Siakam’s All-Star nod at least helps cover some of the sting of the tough hiatus he’s experiencing. But next season, the Pacers will mean business, especially with the return of Haliburton and Ivica Zubac.
