Most athletes who have ever played football would love to have a career like Russell Wilson. After all, how many third-round picks can say they earned the title of franchise quarterback as a rookie?

Although the 37-year-old may no longer be viewed as a high-end starter, there is no doubt that he is still a capable quarterback who also showed game-changing ability with the Giants last season.

He has already received a contract offer from the New York Jets, but Wilson is also said to be considering TV opportunities. Still, if Wilson really wants to play but isn’t impressed by the Jets’ offer, who else could sign him this offseason?

This result would only make sense if Rodgers surprisingly decided not to sign in Pittsburgh, but for some reason, he still hasn’t agreed to a new contract.

Have the Broncos burned bridges with Wilson? It’s possible the ice hasn’t melted yet for Sean Payton and GM George Payton. Still, they recently expressed interest in adding a quarterback while Bo Nix recovers from surgery, and if for some reason he’s not ready for Week 1, Wilson would be a huge upgrade over Jarrett Stidham.

Future Hall of Famer Russell Westbrook was a late addition to the Sacramento Kings roster ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season, signing a one-year deal in October. As he is now preparing to enter NBA free agency again, a comeback may be in the offing.

Speaking to reporters in his final press conference following Sunday’s regular season finale, Westbrook said he would play for the Kings again next season if he wanted back.

For the first time since his 21-game stint with the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2022-23 campaign, Westbrook averaged more than 15 points per game this season. He finished with his highest total in three-pointers made per game (2.0) since the 2016–17 season with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Westbrook was well-liked in the locker room and his veteran presence certainly proved an advantage to younger players like Dylan Cardwell, Maxime Renaud and Nick Clifford.

Given the possibility of the Kings landing the cornerstone guard with the top pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, re-signing Westbrook could be the perfect way for the franchise to help ease the new player into a rebuilding team. Additionally, given Westbrook’s lack of interest in NBA free agency last summer, a return to a one-year minimum contract is a real possibility.

Russell Westbrook out of Kings-Nets matchup due to foot illness

Sacramento entered Sunday’s game one spot behind Brooklyn in the draft lottery standings. The Kings have lost their last two games 4-1, slipping from first place to fourth. They have one more win than the Nets in third.

The Nets have lost six games after consecutive wins over the Detroit Pistons and Memphis Grizzlies earlier this month. They recently ruled out Igor Demin and Deron Sharp for the season, while Michael Porter Jr. is out for 2-3 weeks with a hamstring strain. Brooklyn also will be without Noah Clowney (right wrist sprain) and Nic Claxton (rest) on Sunday. Terrence Mann (illness) is probable for the matchup.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Kings enter Sunday’s game as 5.5-point favorites. They have another meeting with the Nets in Brooklyn a week from Sunday.

His six triple-doubles this year rank fifth among all players, and two of them have come in his last three games.

Coincidentally, the Kings have done well in achieving their triple-double-like identity with Westbrook, as they have won four of their last five games entering Tuesday night’s game in Sacramento.

green Bay Packers

As the 2026 NFL offseason begins, the Green Bay Packers have been pretty quiet in terms of transactions. Other than bringing in former Javon Hargrave — who previously played for the Minnesota Vikings — Green Bay hasn’t made any spectacular moves yet. That said, GM Brian Gutekunst still has some boxes to check off before the season starts. One of the biggest? A reunion would bring back a quarterback who already knows the expectations of the fanbase, the culture inside the building and the pressure that comes with playing in Seattle. There will be no learning curve – just a familiar face in a familiar locker room. Beyond the inevitable cap-space gymnastics, there’s also an interesting story if this actually happened. Wilson can eventually guide Sam Darnold like he once helped guide DK Metcalf early in his career.

turn? Back in Seattle, Wilson was the franchise QB, and Metcalf was the young rising star. If he returned now, the roles would be reversed – Wilson would likely be the veteran QB2, supporting Darnold while providing the kind of experience that only a Super Bowl-winning quarterback can provide.

Financially, Ram can also make it work. A short-term, one-year veteran deal for Wilson would be manageable under their cap and give Los Angeles top-tier insurance behind Stafford without the long-term money.

“You make a lot of statements and blanket statements that you have no context for,” Westbrook said.

Westbrook later explained why he felt compelled to speak out for the Kings.

“My job is to speak for the guys in the locker room,” he said. “Don’t make out-of-context comments about people as individuals… If you don’t know, don’t say anything you don’t know.”

Westbrook noted that he has the most dunks in a career by a point guard, which already shows his athleticism and what he can do in open space. Not only that, but Westbrook is considered one of the best rebounding guards in the league and he has the stats to prove it.

There was a time in Westbrook’s career when he was easily recording a triple-double every night, and it led him to the MVP award. If anyone ever wants to argue that he isn’t the most athletic player of all time, they may be in some trouble, because there is certainly an argument to be made.

Although Westbrook is no longer the same player he was at his peak, he is still impacting the game in the same way he used to. Unfortunately, this hasn’t led to much success for the Kings, as they are currently 13-46 and in last place in the Western Conference.

They recently shut down Domantas Sabonis and Zach LaVine for the rest of the season due to injuries, and at this point, they would be looking to get the top pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.

The sheer force of Westbrook’s speed caused the drink to spill over him and onto the floor, delaying the game as it took some time to clean up the mess on the court.
