Isaac Okoro and Collin Sexton’s injury status vs. Clippers

Given that Isaac Okoro and Collin Sexton are listed as questionable, it is assumed that they will not play. Both have been on the injury list this season. Sexton, while with the Charlotte Hornets, missed eight games due to quad/thigh and hamstring injuries. He suffered a neck injury in November.

During the trade deadline, Sexton was traded to Chicago in a deal that sent Coby White to the Hornets. Despite scoring 28 points against the Sacramento Kings on March 7, Sexton was taken out of the game with a concussion.

Sexton was absent against the Golden State Warriors and Lakers.

Okoro has missed several games due to neck, back/neck and knee injuries. He missed the Lakers’ game on Thursday.

Overall, Sexton is averaging 14.6 points per game. Okoro, meanwhile, is averaging 9.0 points per game. Additionally, the Bulls are 27-39 and have lost seven of their last 10 games.

So when it comes to the question of whether Isaac Okoro and Collin Sexton are playing against the Lakers tonight, the answer is no.

The Chicago Bulls were watching a throwback performance from Collin Sexton on Sunday night, but the celebration was cut short. During a high-stakes matchup against the Sacramento Kings, the dynamic guard was forced to exit early due to a lower left leg injury. The Bulls immediately announced that Sexton would not return for the remainder of the game, leaving a large void in their rotation as he was warming up.

Before the injury, Sexton was arguably the best player on the field. Returning to a bench role with Josh Giddy in the lineup, Sexton provided an immediate spark that the Kings simply could not contain. He scored 28 points in just 22 minutes of action and shot an efficient 9 of 12 from the field, including seven triples. His ability to get to the rim and finish through contact has been the hallmark of his season, and he was on a career pace the night before the failure.

Times are especially tough for a Bulls team trying to find consistency in the final stages of the season. While Sacramento has struggled mightily this year, Chicago needed every score from Sexton to keep pace in a high-scoring affair. Without him, the offensive burden fell back on Giddy and Ayo Dosunmu, but the loss of Sexton’s distinctive north-south pace was evident in the second half.

For Chicago, the hope is that the fusion is relatively minor. Sexton has been one of the few bright spots for the franchise recently, averaging over 20 points per game in his last five contests. The medical staff will likely evaluate him further on Monday to determine if he will miss any additional time. Given his importance to the second unit, the Bulls will need his return as soon as possible to maintain their offensive identity.

“This game meant a lot because we knew we had to be the first one to throw a punch and be the more physical team,” Sexton said.

“We all had the mentality of being the next man up. Josh and Matus, they were out. So we had to be ready. We had big shoes to fill and everyone had to step up.”

Additionally, he noted some of the actions of his teammates that led to the Bulls victory. Overall, Sexton credited Nick Richards, Isaac Okoro, Yuki Kawamura, Leonard Miller, Trey Jones and Gershon Yabusele.

“Nick played really well,” Sexton said. “Isaac played really good defense. Yuki came in and gave us big minutes. Leonard came in. Trey, he had a big-time play. Yabu had big threes. Everybody had a part in this win, and everybody was ready when their name was called.”

Sexton finished with a game-high 30 points and five assists. In the end, the Bulls won their second match out of the last three. This February is coming without a win.
