Daniel Gafford out of game against Warriors with shoulder injury

The Dallas Mavericks are unable to catch any breaks this season as their troubles continue. On Monday, Daniel Gafford was forced to miss their game against the Golden State Warriors with a shoulder injury.

Gafford was playing great before being sent off late in the fourth quarter at American Airlines Center. The Mavericks announced that he would not return for the remainder of the game.

He finished with 20 points on a perfect 8-of-8 shooting. He also had seven rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block.

The Mavericks ultimately lost to the Warriors 137–131 in overtime.

Gafford has already missed more than 20 games this season due to various injuries. Entering the game against Golden State, he was averaging 9.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.2 blocks.

Dallas is already in fifth place, with Derek Lively II out for the season with a foot injury. The team acquired Marvin Bagley III at the trade deadline, but he is not a natural center. If Gafford sits out for an extended period of time, Dwight Powell could get extended minutes.

Cooper Flagg had a game-high 32 points on 12-of-19 shooting in the losing effort. He had four rebounds, nine assists and two steals, although he also had seven turnovers.

Bagley and PJ Washington combined for 18 points, three rebounds, five assists and three steals.

The Mavericks dropped their fourth consecutive assignment and lost 23–49. Meanwhile, the Warriors snapped their three-game losing streak and improved to 34–38.

Things won’t get easier for Dallas as they face the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday.

Khris Middleton leaves nets match due to shoulder injury

In addition to the veteran leadership that Khris Middleton can bring to the Dallas Mavericks, the 2021 NBA champions can still punish defenses on any given night. Although he is unlikely to remain with the team beyond this season, the franchise should still try to absorb all the wisdom the three-time All-Star has to share. Unfortunately, he injured his right shoulder during Tuesday’s road matchup against the Brooklyn Nets and will not return, according to NBA correspondent Marc Stein.

Middleton helped the Mavs end a 10-game losing streak by scoring a team-high 25 points on 11-of-15 shooting against the Indiana Pacers.

Given that Trey Murphy III’s injury report is questionable, his chances of playing against the Bucks are slim. This will be only his fifth missed game this season, as Murphy has been incredibly durable throughout the 2025-26 campaign.

Both the Pelicans and Bucks have struggled this year. New Orleans is in 14th place in the Western Conference, while Milwaukee is in 11th place in the Eastern Conference. The last time these two teams faced each other was on February 4. In that match, Pelicans had to face defeat 141-137. Trey Murphy III led his team by recording 44 points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Despite a disappointing season for the club, Murphy has been one of the most consistent players on the roster. He is arguably the team’s best player, as his abilities as a two-way player help the Pelicans on both ends of the court. In the 52 games he has played, Trey Murphy III is averaging 22.1 points per game (career-high), 5.7 rebounds (career-high), 3.8 assists (career-high), and 1.5 steals (career-high). He’s also shooting 47.6% from the floor and 37.8% from beyond the three-point line.

So, the Pelicans will be without one of their best players, Trey Murphy III, when they take on the Bucks in New Orleans on Friday.
