Just as the LA Clippers got John Collins back from injury and finally healthy, they may have lost Kawhi Leonard.

Leonard left Saturday night’s game against the Sacramento Kings with a left ankle injury and was immediately taken out of the game after returning to the Clippers locker room. This was not the only injury suffered by Leonard, as the Clippers star suffered a laceration to his left eyelid after a collision with Kings star DeMar DeRozan, but he was able to return after being shut down.

Kawhi Leonard finished Saturday night’s loss with 31 points, six rebounds and two steals, while shooting 13 of 23 from the field and 2 of 6 from three, but only 3 of 6 from the free throw line in 26 minutes of play. It was the second night of a back-to-back set for the Clippers and their ninth game in the first 14 days of the month.

The Los Angeles Lakers are coming into Sunday’s clash with the New York Knicks having won four of their last five games. They are in the middle of a home stand that will carry them through the upcoming week. And it’s possible they have reinforcements on the way. LeBron James was upgraded on the Lakers’ injury report after missing the team’s win against the Indiana Pacers on Friday.

LeBron James was officially listed as questionable on the Lakers’ injury report for the team’s game against the Knicks. While he has been dealing with foot problems all season, James suffered a hard fall last Thursday against the Nuggets and the team reported it as a left elbow injury.

In addition to James, backup center Maxi Kleber was also upgraded to questionable. Kleber also missed the Pacers game due to a back strain. Starting center Deandre Ayton, who was sidelined for the Pacers’ win with a knee injury, no longer appeared on the injury report.

While the Lakers have managed to pick up some wins in recent games, they have struggled against teams with winning records. The Knicks pose such a challenge as one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. Having James potentially back in the lineup is a big boost.

However, according to Ron Harrod Jr. of DLLS Sports, Mavs head coach Jason Kidd suggested that Flagg not participate in that contest. If that’s the case, the 19-year-old rookie is likely to miss at least the team’s next three games.

When Kidd was asked if Flagg would be available for the Mavericks’ game against the Hornets, he said, “Probably not.”

The Mavericks have been playing without Cooper Flagg for the past five games, his sixth consecutive missed game on Friday when Dallas faces the Memphis Grizzlies. Paolo Banchero capped the Orlando Magic’s four-game Western Conference road trip with a 36-point performance in a 110-109 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night, but his impact extended beyond scoring. In consecutive matchups against Kawhi Leonard and Luka Doncic, Banchero took over the primary defensive duties, highlighting his ability as an elite two-way player.

Banchero addressed the defensive responsibility of protecting leading scorers throughout the league.

“Yeah, I think it’s just me, you know, accepting the challenge. You know, I think a lot of times, you know, coaches want to, you know, have some better players to guard a guy. They don’t have to expend as much energy. But, you know, getting Jalen out, Franz out, they’re our two best perimeter defenders. And so I know I’ve got to step up on that side of the ball. With Tuesday night’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers scheduled, Pascal Siakam is listed as “questionable” due to a left wrist sprain. This is the first time Siakam has been listed with an injury in recent weeks as his availability alternates between active and inactive for the Pacers.

Siakam missed the first game of the All-Star break due to personal reasons, and was changed for the second game after the break in the management of his left hamstring injury. He played in Sunday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks, recording 30 points, eight rebounds and three assists in 29 minutes of play in a 134–130 Mavs victory.

The Pacers have every incentive to lose as many games as possible over the remainder of this season. The Pacers traded their 2026 first-round draft pick to the LA Clippers with protection if it falls to 1-4 or 10-30. So if the pick falls 5-9, this would be considered the Clippers fully loaded draft and potentially the best one ever when it is all said and done.

This selection was part of the package that Indiana sold to the Clippers for Ivica Zubac. In the deal, the Pacers traded Benedict Mathurin, Isaiah Jackson and two first-round picks to Los Angeles for All-Defensive center in Zubac.

In 52 games played so far this season, Siakam has averaged 23.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game, while shooting 48.3 percent from the field and 37.3 percent from three. Siakam was named to his fourth NBA All-Star team this season despite the Pacers’ poor record, which highlights how good he is.
