Atletico Madrid are trying to sign a new contract for Julian Alvarez after Arsenal made a €100m bid for Julian Alvarez last year.

The newspaper reports that Atlético are making moves in an attempt to sign Alvarez to a new deal. Matteo Alemany is leading the negotiations and has already made an initial offer to the player and his agent.
The newspaper suggests this is an attempt to fend off potential suitors such as Arsenal and Barcelona.

However, that interest has not gone away. While Atletico have made it clear they do not want to sell, the Gunners still fancy the Argentine. However he keeps rejecting them too.
“Arsenal remain interested in the player and, as of February 16, Julián Álvarez does not want to move to an English team or return to the Premier League,” he said.
“As far as I know, no candidate for the presidency of Barcelona has spoken to Julian Álvarez or met him. And Paris Saint-Germain have again inquired about the striker in this winter transfer window.”
