Anthony Black suffered an injury against the Timberwolves.

The Orlando Magic locked in a back-and-forth scoring celebration with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday. But Tuesday saw Anthony Black lose for the second time after the Washington Wizards game.

Black had previously injured his quad before moving to Target Center. But what caused his latest injury?

This NBA injury is different in that Black has a lower back strain. Looks like he’s bound to sit for the rest of the afternoon.

Black played only two minutes on the floor and did not score a single point. He managed to pull down one rebound and also snatch a steal on defense. The guard also missed two free throw attempts from the white stripe.

Does Anthony Black have a history of injuries on the Magic?

Black has been on the injury report several times since March 2023. But that’s not limited to his time with the Magic.

He sprained his ankle while playing for Arkansas and aimed to deal with it during the game against Texas A&M. Black played just one season in Fayetteville and is testing the NBA Draft waters for 2023.

Orlando drafted him with the No. 6 selection. Black showed immediate potential by dropping 23 points on the Wizards during a December 26 game. He has since established himself as one of head coach Jamahl Mosley’s young stars.

Black is helping Orlando clinch a top-six seed for the NBA Playoffs. Orlando entered Minnesota with a 33–28 record, which dropped the Magic to 8th in the Eastern standings. Black averaged new career-highs across the board, including scoring, with 15.5 points per game in season three with the franchise.

It appears Cooper Flagg suffered an injury in the homecoming game vs. the Celtics

The Dallas Mavericks are very likely out of playoff contention for the remainder of this 2025-26 season, but there is a lot to look forward to with Cooper Flagg having a stellar rookie season.

That rookie season got a scare on Friday night when the Mavs took on the Boston Celtics. Early in the first quarter, Cooper went for a flag layup and was fouled, but he landed awkwardly and immediately grabbed his ankle in pain.

Flagg stood up with the help of his teammates and limped to the Celtics bench for a timeout.

After the timeout, Cooper Flagg came back onto the floor, advanced to the free throw line, knocked down both free throws with ease, and remained in the game and played well without any problems.

Friday night’s game is the homecoming game for Maine native Cooper Flagg. He is the third player in NBA history from Maine to play in the NBA, joining current Detroit Pistons guard/forward Duncan Robinson as well as former Nets and Magic forward Jeff Turner.

“I think it’s great that his family is here,” Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd said of Cooper Flagg’s return to the New England area. “Not just his mom, dad and brother, but other people will also be able to watch him play in person tonight. It’s exciting. Hopefully he can perform well and we understand that it’s not easy playing against this team, because they understand big games and big situations, and so it’s a big challenge for him.”

In seven minutes of the first quarter, the Mavs rookie finished the period with six points, one rebound and one steal on 2 of 5 shooting from the field.

Jalen Johnson suffered hip injury against Wizards

The Atlanta Hawks face the Washington Wizards on Tuesday hoping to pick up their 29th win of the season. Unfortunately, star forward Jalen Johnson is said to have suffered a hip injury during the contest.

According to NBA insider Brett Siegel, reports indicate that Johnson, who is 24, suffered a left hip strain during the game. The Hawks listed him as questionable to return.

“Hawks say Jalen Johnson has a left hip flexor injury and is questionable to return against the Wizards.”

The injury occurred during the first six minutes of the game against the Wizards. Jalen Johnson left the court after recording five points, three rebounds and two steals on 50.0% shooting from the floor. According to Siegel, after a quick trip to the locker room, Atlanta ruled Johnson out for the remainder of the game.

“Jalen Johnson will not return to tonight’s game due to his hip injury.”

Hopefully, it’s not a serious injury and Johnson can return soon. He has emerged as one of the go-to stars for the Hawks, as he entered Tuesday’s contest averaging 23.4 points, 10.8 rebounds, 8.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game, while shooting 49.4% from the floor and 34.3% from beyond the three-point line. He earned an All-Star award this season for the first time in his career.

Newly hired forward Jonahn Kuminga may get some additional playing time alongside Jalen Johnson against the Wizards. Zachary Rishachar may also see an expanded role. Either way, these are the two players most likely to step up for the Hawks if Johnson misses time with a hip injury.
