Lakers’ Luka Doncic will be suspended for one game

LOS ANGELES – Lakers star Luka Doncic will serve a one-game suspension for Monday’s game against the Washington Wizards after receiving his 16th technical during Friday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets.

Doncic and Nets guard Ziaire Williams received a double technical with 5:12 remaining in the third quarter. As Williams stepped into his personal space, Doncic lightly patted her back. After this Williams slapped Doncic on the chin.

Doncic immediately took issue with the call, but it’s unclear whether the NBA will overturn his technical. The NBA had already granted Doncic this courtesy after he exchanged words with Orlando Magic center Goga Bitadze during Saturday’s game. Afterwards, Doncic told reporters that Bitadze made lewd comments about his family, an allegation that Bitadze denied to ESPN and the Orlando Sentinel. After this, the Lakers appealed against this decision to the NBA.
