Promising Tennessee Volunteer News on Juke Harris Pursuit

The Tennessee Volunteers have already produced one of the best classes of talent in the college basketball transfer portal this month with five commitments. Now it appears the class could be even stronger with the program still having guard Juke Harris in the mix.

According to Pete Nakos of On3.com, Tennessee remains in the final three to land Harris, but neither program has given a timeline for when a decision will be made. However, there are some factors that can improve a volunteer’s chances.

RELATED: Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Transfer Portal Tracker

  • Jukes Harris Stats (2025-26): 21.4 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.3 spg, 44.4% FG, 2.5 3s per game, 33.2% 3pts

Nakos said there would “probably be a cutoff date” for Harris’ pursuit in North Carolina and that if the decision was pushed forward he would step back to focus on other targets. According to NACOS sources, new coach Michael Malone wants more help on the wing, and given the reported cost of landing Harris, the Tar Heels will have to choose between him or NC State wings Paul McNeil or Matt Able.

North Carolina’s opting out in the near future could set up a potential bidding war between Michigan and Tennessee, which could prove fitting, as the two schools went head-to-head last year for a five-star running back. The newcomer has been a standout for the Wolverines this spring.

RELATED: Tennessee Volunteers willing to pay heavy price for Juke Harris

As for Tennessee basketball, Nakos reported that Harris’ family and Volunteers head coach Rick Barnes have “some familiarity” with each other. Not only did he originally recruit her out of high school and finish as a finalist, but Barnes also has a friendly relationship with Steve Forbes, Harris’ former coach at Wake Forest.

Tennessee must also consider another factor. Freshman forward Nate Ament has not yet decided whether he will officially enter the 2026 NBA Draft. He is a projected lottery pick, but returning to school could give him a chance to be selected even higher next year as the 2027 NBA Draft class is considered very weak. If the Volunteers can lure Ament to stay with a strong zero offer, it could force Harris out of their price range.

That said, adding the reigning ACC Most Improved Player is a top priority for Tennessee after the program confirmed the commitment of guard Terrence Hill Jr. on Sunday. Harris will be the final addition to the Volunteers’ backcourt next season, giving them a wealth of scorers who can score from all three levels and impact the game in different ways.

Tennessee Titans coach Robert Saleh reportedly lured by elite ‘game-changing’ prospect at No. 4

Barring a trade, the Tennessee Titans are less than 48 hours away from deciding which prospect they will select with the fourth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Most expect the Titans to go with either a running back, pass-rusher or linebacker.

When Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi initially spoke on Tennessee’s plans with the fourth overall selection, he said they would go with the best player available. Many came away from this with the belief that the Titans would be targeting Notre Dame star Jeremiah Love (if he is available), as he is the top-ranked prospect on many evaluators’ draft boards.

Yet, this may not be the case at all.

Recently, NFL insider Tony Pauline of Essential Sports revealed his information that Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey is the “game-changer new head coach Robert Saleh is coveting.”

“I mentioned from the Senior Bowl that edge rusher David Bailey fits into the Titans’ defense like a duck to water, and I’m told he’s the game-changer new head coach Robert Saleh covets. Bailey leads the FBS with 14.5 sacks and a 21.3% pressure rate heading into the 2025 season. Yet it’s unlikely the Texas Tech product will fall into the Titans’ lap.”

Tony Pauline on Titans draft plans

This is fine, but there may be a problem. What if Bailey is the pass-rusher the Jets want at No. 2, too? There is talk that New York is down to either Arvel Reese or Bailey, and that could put a wrench in the Titans’ plans. Heck, the Cardinals at No. 3 could even decide they want one of this year’s elite pass-rushing prospects and take whoever the Jets don’t.

In other words, based on Pauline’s reporting, it doesn’t look like Jeremiah Love is Tennessee’s top prospect, but this is also smokescreen season, so you never really know.

News on Juke Harris’ search for promising Tennessee volunteers, shocking cost revealed

The Tennessee Volunteers have been one of the most active programs in the men’s college basketball transfer portal this offseason, going all out on Rick Barnes after three consecutive Elite Eight trips. This effort may soon be rewarded with another massive hike.

Pete Nakos of On3.com reported that there is “growing confidence” in Knoxville that Tennessee will be able to close things out with star guard Juke Harris and pry him away from the Michigan Wolverines and North Carolina Tar Heels.

RELATED: Leading to top G in Tennessee transfer portal

In the first recruiting cycle, Harris seemed certain to attend Michigan. He reportedly visited Ann Arbor because the event celebrated the men’s basketball national championship, and a commitment seemed inevitable. Since then, things have changed a lot.

Tennessee and North Carolina held home-and-home visits with Harris suddenly making it a three-program battle for one of the top players in the college basketball transfer portal. While the opportunity to play close to home may prove attractive, it is also reported that Tennessee was originally a finalist for him after coming out of high school. Further strengthening the Volunteers’ chances, as Nacos noted, head coach Rick Barnes has a good relationship with Harris’ former coach at Wake Forest, Steve Forbes.

Of course, landing one of the most coveted players in the transfer portal comes at a price. Nakos reports that Harris is expected to earn a deal “north of $3 million” for the 2026-27 season. This is a price that volunteers are “willing to pay” even with additional payments already made.

If he does commit, with the decision potentially taking more than a week, Harris will be the starting shooting guard for Tennessee next season, with fellow transfer Tyler Lundblad coming off the bench behind him. The Volunteers have also added guard Dai Dai Ames to the transfer portal and remain in the active search for a point guard to replace Ja’Coby Gillespie.

Tennessee Volunteers in top 3 for star players in transfer portal

Rick Barnes and the Tennessee Volunteers have been cleaning up the transfer portal this month, securing three commitments to bolster their depth next season. While the focus has primarily been on players from smaller schools, it appears the Volunteers are an emerging threat to field one of the best players available across the country.

On3.com’s Pete Nacos reports that Tennessee has emerged as one of the “top three schools to look at” for guard Jukes Harris in the transfer portal. However, it’s worth noting that a decision isn’t expected any time soon as the young guard is also evaluating his options to turn professional depending on where he’s projected to land in the 2026 NBA Draft.

RELATED: Tennessee volunteers gaining momentum toward bigger commitment

A week earlier, most reporting suggested that the Michigan Wolverines were in a very strong position to land Harris’ commitment. Since then, the offensive efforts of both the Volunteers and the North Carolina Tar Heels have made it a three-team battle.

Nakos elaborated that Harris visited Michigan during the championship program and that he walked away from the program with “confidence” it gave him a good chance to earn his commitment. However, after that, home visits to Tennessee and North Carolina have them set up for a tough battle with Michigan to land a star guard.

RELATED: Tennessee Volunteers to spend big bucks on basketball

The 6-foot-7 Harris is rated as the fourth-best player in the 2026 college basketball transfer portal by On3.com and Rivals. Jeff Borzello of ESPN ranked him the sixth-best player on the market and the second-best shooting guard.

In his final season at Wake Forest, the second-year guard averaged 21.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. He shot 33.2 percent from beyond the arc, averaged 2.5 three-pointers per game, while getting to the free-throw line frequently (7.1 attempts per game) and shot 78.3 percent from the charity stripe.

RELATED: Insider sheds light on Tennessee’s approach to transfer portal

A report for Barnes and the Volunteers’ coaching staff this season emphasizes adding more capable scorers to the roster. Harris, the reigning ACC Most Improved Player, scored more than 30 points three times this season and reached more than 27 points in eight contests. He also finished nine games with double-digit free-throw attempts.

Given how aggressive Tennessee has been in recruiting Harris under Barnes, it’s very possible that the program is able to lure him away from Michigan and North Carolina. If that happens, the zero commitment would certainly mean that next season’s roster is the most expensive in program history.

Tennessee volunteers gaining momentum toward bigger commitment

Tennessee Volunteers men’s basketball coach Rick Barnes has been hard at work in the college basketball transfer portal this month, securing three commitments just days after leading the program to the Elite Eight. Now it appears volunteers are on the verge of a fourth large influx this month.

On3.com’s Joe Tipton reported ahead of wing Jalen Harrelson’s visit to Knoxville on Tuesday that Tennessee is “accelerating this recruiting” and momentum is building toward a potential commitment.

RELATED: Tennessee volunteers gaining momentum for SG in portal

Haralson, a 6-foot-6 forward, is rated as a four-star player this cycle by the college basketball transfer portal Rivals and On3.com. He is viewed as the second-best small forward on the market and the 39th-best player available this offseason.

Before this season, Rivals ranked him the 31st-best high school player in the 2025 recruiting class. It was the same class as five-star recruit Nate Ament, a late commit to Tennessee last year who is now expected to be a lottery pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

RELATED: Tennessee in mix for top player in CBB transfer portal

As a freshman, he started 23 of 27 games for the Fighting Irish. Harrelson averaged 16.2 points, 4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 51.5 percent from the field. He doesn’t offer much in the way of a perimeter scoring threat, making just 5 of 25 from beyond the arc in his freshman season, but he got to the free-throw line 181 times (6.7 per game) and shot 67.4 percent of his free-throw attempts.

As he gained more experience as a freshman, Haralson’s play continued to improve. While Notre Dame went 6–13 to end his season, Haralson averaged 17.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game during that span, posted a 52.7 effective field goal percentage, and he averaged 7.4 free-throw attempts per contest.

For Tennessee, he could potentially fill the void left by Ament’s expected departure. His commitment will be the fourth commitment for volunteers this month, coming on the heels of or during the trips to Knoxville.

Entering Wednesday, Tennessee’s transfer portal commitment class included Belmont shooting guard Tyler Lundblad, California guard Dai Dai Ames and Loyola big man Miles Rubin. The Volunteers are still actively searching for several guards, including a point guard to replace Ja’Coby Gillespie.

CFB Insider names 2 standouts from the Tennessee Volunteers Spring Game

The biggest story surrounding the Tennessee Volunteers football team this spring has centered on the quarterback battle to determine who will be the starter in Week 1. Although it has taken months to make a decision, others have recently emerged.

In his annual article highlighting notable performances from the Spring Games, Pete Nakos of On3.com, left tackle Javin Gordon and cornerback Kyon Lee both made the list.

RELATED: ESPN analyst offers insight on Volunteers QB battle

The 5-foot-10 Gordon spent his freshman season with the Tulane Green Wave and finished 2025 with 516 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns on 128 carries. He then entered the college football transfer portal this offseason, and committed to Tennessee to serve as a complementary member behind DeSean Bishop next season.

With the departures of star Thomas and Peyton Lewis, Josh Heupel and the Volunteers coaching staff are looking for who can fill secondary roles in the backfield behind Bishop. For Gordon and Deuce Morris, this could be a meaningful role as Thomas finished with 100 carries last year and Lewis had 74 touches.

Lee was another addition to the college football transfer portal for Tennessee. He is quickly emerging as a standout player on the perimeter, who can excel in coverage and is willing to drop his shoulder and deliver big hits.

Lee’s emergence is especially important to Volunteers defensive coordinator William Inge, who needs a quality No. 2 option at cornerback opposite second-year freshman Ty Redmond.

For now, it has yet to be determined who will be the Volunteers’ starting quarterback this season, and no decision will be made any time after the spring game. What matters for Tennessee right now is that they have two very good cornerbacks and much-needed depth for the 2026 season.

Tennessee Titans sign former third-round QB as backup to Cam Ward

The Tennessee Titans believe they have found their franchise quarterback after making Cam Ward the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. While Ward is still proving himself after leading his team to a 3-14 record last season, the soon-to-be 24-year-old now has a new coach showing him the way. The Titans also have a new QB who could develop into something special.

According to ESPN’s NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, the Titans signed local legend Hendon Hooker to a one-year contract on Wednesday. Hooker, now 28, spent parts of last season with the Panthers and Jets but did not see the field.

The 68th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft has struggled to find his footing in the pros. Hooker spent the first two years of his career with the Lions, but was surprisingly released before the start of his third season. Third-round picks rarely make the cut after just two seasons, but clearly Lions general manager Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell had seen enough.

Hooker has appeared in only three games, completing 6 of 9 passes for 62 yards. Now, the former Tennessee Volunteers QB gets a chance to move forward as a member of the Titans. The Titans also have free agent signees Mitchell Trubisky and Will Lewis as backups to Ward. Unless Lewis is traded, it will be difficult for Hooker to make a roster spot at Tennessee, but it’s better than not having a spot on an active NFL roster.

Dalton Knecht joins ‘Tennessee Dalton’ amid G League assignment

LOS ANGELES – After a promising start to his rookie year with the Los Angeles Lakers, things have not always been so smooth for second-year wing Dalton Knecht. Knecht has been unable to crack the Lakers’ rotation, and has had to work some assignments with the team’s South Bay G League affiliate, which was not the case last year.

Dalton Knecht has played two games with South Bay this season, the most recent coming last Wednesday between the Lakers’ home games. After the game, Knecht explained what the Lakers’ coaching staff expects from him when he is assigned to the G League, including going back to his college roots.

“They just tell me to play my game. That’s really it, just play my game,” Knecht said. “One thing I try and focus on is staying in front of my man and capturing D, getting as many rebounds, defensive rebounds and just being Tennessee Dalton.”

In the games he played with South Bay, Knecht certainly looked like ‘Tennessee Dalton’. In his G League debut in November, Knecht dropped 30 points while shooting 6-of-10 from 3-point range. In his second game, he finished with 18 points while grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out four assists.

And he’s also had the opportunity to build chemistry with his Lakers teammates. Last week, Bronny James, Edou Thirou, Kobe Bufkin, Nick Smith Jr., Drew Timme and Chris Mannon were all assigned to the South Bay along with Knecht. That group is the Lakers’ ‘be ready’ group, which often scrimmages against each other at the end of practice.

Each of them have received ample time to develop and play with South Bay, and Knecht feels the G League is a good place for live game representatives when there isn’t enough time in the NBA. In Thursday night’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves’ affiliate, the Iowa Wolves, that group was matched up against the Timberwolves’ rookie big man Jon Beringer and two-way contract players Enrique Freeman and Zion Pullin.

“You get a real opportunity. You’re playing with most of the guys in the league, especially this Iowa team. That’s a good team,” Knecht said. “And we get those reps because at the end of the day it’s going to be important. For all of us, it’s just getting solid minutes and doing what the team says.”

Knecht has played sparingly with the Lakers this season, appearing in 48 games, including one start, in a little more than 10 minutes per game. He’s shooting 44.8 percent from the field, but only 30.7 percent from 3-point range, down from 37.6 from a year ago.

But for South Bay head coach Zach Guthrie, Knecht has done everything Redick and the Lakers staff asked of him when he was assigned to South Bay.

Guthrie said, “I think he’s done a good job of everything he’s been told … He’s comfortable in this environment, comfortable with these players and he’s just getting a chance to get into rhythm, get game reps, game opportunities and stay sharp and be ready when his name is called for the Lakers.” “Credit to DK for coming down and having the right mindset and approach and really attacking in these minutes and these opportunities.”

道尔顿·克内希特 (Dalton Knecht) 在发展联盟 (G League) 任务中使用“田纳西州道尔顿 (Tennessee Dalton)”

Tennessee Titans set sights on 1,000-yard receiver

Last year, the Tennessee Titans secured their franchise quarterback by selecting Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Now it’s time to give him some help.

The Titans’ 30th-ranked offense could be getting a big boost. Still, with the Titans having over $90 million in cap space, they have plenty of money to spend.

According to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones, the Titans have their sights set on upcoming free agent receiver Wan’Dale Robinson. The 25-year-old is coming off a career year with the New York Giants, where he recorded 92 receptions for 1,014 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Now he is looking to make money and the Titans may be ready to give him a blow.

“Tennessee’s lack of interest in (Mike) Evans may be because the Titans have their eyes on Giants wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson. Sources say Nashville could be a landing spot for Robinson, and for obvious reasons. The Titans have more than $90 million in cap space and a huge need at receiver. The move to Tennessee would reunite them with their former head coach Brian Daboll. Robinson, now the offensive coordinator with the Titans, is a Kentucky native who played high school football three hours up I-65 from Music City.

CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones on Wandell Robinson

Robinson will certainly generate interest from many other suitors. However, as Jones said, the connection with Daboll could be heavily in the Titans’ favor.

The 5-foot-8 Robinson may not be a No. 1 receiver, but he’ll be someone who can get open for Ward quickly. For a young quarterback, having a receiver they can rely on in a moment can make a huge difference. Robinson is probably coming off his first 1,000-yard season, but there could be better production around and teams like the Titans will be eager to find out.
