Ronda Rousey experienced literal ‘death throws’ from Vince McMahon’s reign during final WWE run

Ronda Rousey has given her most honest account yet about what it was like to work in WWE under Vince McMahon, describing an environment defined by last-minute decisions, poor communication and constant anxiety during an interview with Complex News.

Rousey worked with WWE twice, the first time starting in 2017 and the second time until 2023. She was candid about how the experience of working under McMahon affected her ability to connect with her character.

“I felt like I was creating someone else’s image of myself,” Rousey said. “You could tell when I was allowed to write my own promos and when I wasn’t. I learned a lot from it, and I really enjoyed my time in the ring. I didn’t really enjoy being in the death throes during Vince McMahon’s reign, but there were a lot of great experiences there.”

His second stint with the company was particularly difficult. Rousey described McMahon as being out of touch with the day-to-day reality of running a product and said that the work environment had become increasingly unhealthy by that time.

“I mean, in the second round, Vince had gone too far and was even more difficult to work with, and there was a lot of internal turmoil going on in the company,” Rousey said. “It was kind of a s*** show, and no one ever knew what was going on.

“And you’d get on the field, and you’d be asked to do something that someone threw in your lap that wasn’t thought about until 15 minutes before. Everything was super last minute and not well thought out, and there was no communication, no back-and-forth.”

The psychological impact of that environment was something that Rousey addressed directly.

He said, “Any attempt to collaborate feels like we were trying to negotiate something instead of partnering together to create something great.” “And unfortunately, I love being in the ring and doing this, but the process was like a cluster f–k, sh–t show that was a lot more anxiety-inducing than it was worth.

“I just look back on it, and I just remember the anxiety of not knowing what was going on, and then at the last minute, maybe we’ll be able to get it out of our A- and have a good night, and maybe not. I was definitely Team Triple H rising up to handle it. So, I’ve heard it’s gotten a lot better since he took over things, but unfortunately, I didn’t get to experience it.”

Rousey recently appeared at AEW Revolution with real-life friend Marina Shafir after her match against Toni Storm. She is currently preparing for her fight against Gina Carano this Saturday at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, which is being broadcast live on Netflix.

Kyle Anderson throws subtle shade on tanking Jazz

For most of his NBA career, Kyle Anderson has played as a contender.

Drafted 30th overall out of UCLA in 2014, celebrated for his throwback, borderline positionless “slow mo” style of play, Anderson has been to the postseason in eight of his first 11 seasons in the NBA, almost guaranteed a ninth run in Year 12 after signing with the Minnesota Timberwolves after being bought out of his contract by the Memphis Grizzlies.

And yet, for nearly half the season, Anderson played on a team that was decidedly not a contender. No, during his run with the Utah Jazz, the team actually went out of their way to make sure he didn’t get a W at the end of the contest, resulting in players like Anderson getting limited runs and DNPs to avoid any upset wins.

While discussing what it was like playing for the Jazz with reporters on Tuesday, Anderson said that although he likes everyone at Utah, he is not a big fan of their lose-first mentality, as he prefers to do everything possible in the pursuit of a win.

Anderson said, “Honestly, I didn’t want to join. I really enjoyed the organization and everyone in the organization was amazing.” “Obviously, you know, playing games without wins gets a little tougher and tougher. I personally didn’t enjoy it, but, you know, the staff, the players, I love the players. The staff is really good, the guys in the organization are amazing. Nothing bad to say about it.”

While the Jazz have been out of the playoff picture for several years now, ever since they traded Rudy Gobert and then Donovan Mitchell after deciding that the duo had reached their peak, Utah hasn’t really had dominant homegrown players to show for their efforts, with the team failing to crack the top-3 over the past decade.

Luckily, they hit a home run with the Lauri Markkanen trade and have pushed more chips into the center of the table by acquiring Jaren Jackson Jr. before the trade deadline, so who knows? Maybe they’ll be back to playing Anderson’s favorite brand of basketball next season.

LeBron James throws it back with signature chase-down block vs. Magic

The Los Angeles Lakers have struggled a lot on the defensive end this season, but from time to time they show flashes of greatness on that end of the floor. On Tuesday night, LeBron James once again showed that age is just a number, as he soared to the sky to deny an easy layup in transition from Orlando Magic guard Anthony Black.

The game began with a James turnover, as his pass to Austin Reaves was deflected by the Magic guard. Black then took the ball in transition where he is usually prolific, and it looked as if he only had Reeves to beat. Reaves did enough to distract Black, giving the Lakers star enough time to look behind and to the sky for an epic chase-down block. he is made His signature move.

However, it was troublesome when the Magic had three players to the Lakers’ two – with Paolo Banchero rebounding Black’s blocked shot. But then the Lakers retreated to defend the fastbreak, and Marcus Smart made a timely attempt to deny the Magic a field goal by deflecting Banchero’s attempt.

The sad part was that the Lakers couldn’t take advantage of these incredible defensive plays, as James proceeded to turn the ball over again on the ensuing possession.

Jalen Duren throws down poster dunk on Victor Wembanyama

In a potential NBA Finals matchup, the Detroit Pistons will face the San Antonio Spurs on Monday. At the time of publication, the Pistons were trailing by double digits midway through the fourth quarter. But Pistons big man Jalen Duren had the highlight of the night in the NBA by throwing down a poster dunk over Spurs star Victor Wembanyama.

The play occurred early in the fourth quarter when Cade Cunningham took a hand-off from Jalen Duren, saw Duren hiding in the dunker spot and as he stepped up he hit him with a pass and threw a poster dunk on the unsuspecting Victor Wembanyama. This was an impressive feat considering Wembanyama’s length and size and his reputation as one of the best defensive players in the league.

The No. 13 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, this season has been a coming-out party of sorts for Duren. He was recently selected to the first All-Star appearance of his career, and his play has been a big reason why the Pistons have the best record in the Eastern Conference.

Coming into Monday’s game, Duren had appeared in 45 games for the Pistons, a little over 27 minutes per game. He averaged career-highs of 17.8 points, 10.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists while splitting 63 percent shooting from the field and 73 percent shooting from the free-throw line.

The Pistons are looking to avoid breaking their five-match winning streak in the match against the Spurs. They are currently 42–13 and are on top of the Eastern Conference standings.
