Mariano Troilo’s rise at Parma did not go unnoticed Sunderland Laying the foundation for a summer deal.

Parma are sitting quietly and are very happy with how Troilo has turned their season around. Many did not expect him to perform so well in his first season in Serie A but he has left his mark. Troilo has really taken over for Giovanni Leoni and is performing well at the back as well.

Parma see him as an important part of the project and only an ‘important offer’ would trigger his transfer.

Our Opinion: Troilo could be a good opportunity

Now the centre-back is impressing in Italy, and spent two years impressing for Club Atlético Belgrano before joining Parma.

Generally, South American players consider Serie A to be a suitable league for development. Troilo’s career is headed down the same path, with the transfer clearly helping him.

There is every possibility that the major teams of Serie A will call him soon. That’s why Sunderland would be wise to at least lay the groundwork for a deal. This could prove beneficial if the defender continues to perform well over the next few months.
