Oleksandr Usyk leaves upset after Daniel Dubois vs. Fabio Wardley heavyweight fight

The Daniel Dubois vs. Fabio Wardley heavyweight fight at Manchester’s Co-op Live Arena on May 9 was one of the most brutal boxing matches of 2026. Daniel Dubois went to the canvas twice before stopping Fabio Wardley in the 11th round to win back the WBO world heavyweight title and become a two-time champion.

The fight featured constant exchanges, heavy punches and dramatic momentum shifts that kept fans engaged from start to finish. After the fight, unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk shared his honest reaction during an interview with DAZN Boxing.

While Usyk praised Dubois for the victory, he also questioned Wardley’s tactics and raised concerns about the damage both fighters suffered during the intense heavyweight battle. His comments soon became one of the biggest talking points in boxing.

Oleksandr Usyk Criticizes Fabio Wardley’s Tactics in Daniel Dubois Fight

Oleksandr Usyk focused heavily on Fabio Wardley’s lack of basic boxing technique during the Daniel Dubois fight. Speaking to DAZN Boxing, Usyk questioned why Wardley failed to use his jab throughout the contest.

“This is a street fight. Congratulations Dubois, good job, new world champion, but Fabio, where’s the jab? Fabio, where?. [He] Never stabbed. maybe once. Only the right hand, only the right hand. Not working. Very strong chin but I think this is a street fight, it’s a problem for both guys [the] Brain and Health.”

Wardley enters the fight with strong momentum after defending the WBO titles against Justice Hauni and Joseph Parker in 2025. Many expected him to control the fight against Dubois. Instead, Wardley relied primarily on power punches and aggressive exchanges.

Dubois handled the pressure and gradually turned the fight around with body shots and forward movement. As the round continued, Wardley endured more punishment while his offense became less effective.

Daniel Dubois revives heavyweight boxing career after brutal victory over Fabio Wardley

Daniel Dubois’ victory marked another big moment in his return to heavyweight boxing. Dubois had faced criticism after previous losses, including to Oleksandr Usyk. However, the British heavyweight showed toughness and grit against Wardley.

Dubois survived two knockdowns before taking control in the later rounds. His pressure and conditioning ultimately overwhelmed Wardley in the 11th round.

The result also changed the immediate future of the heavyweight division. Usyk has previously expressed interest in fighting the winner as he continues his pursuit of another undisputed heavyweight championship run. That plan will now be put on hold as Wardley has activated the rematch clause in his contract.

Promoters are already discussing a second Daniel Dubois vs. Fabio Wardley fight after the first bout received praise from fans and the boxing media.

Oleksandr Usyk warned about health risks after heavyweight fight

Oleksandr Usyk’s biggest concern after the Daniel Dubois fight centered around fighter safety. The Ukrainian champion said the fight looked more like a “street fight” than a technical boxing match.

Both the giants faced clean punches for about 11 rounds. Wardley’s tenacity helped him stay in the fight, but his defensive mistakes allowed Dubois to be landed repeatedly.

Usyk’s comments reflect growing concerns about the long-term health risks associated with repeated head injuries and punishing fighting in boxing. Even though fans applauded the action, Usyk stressed that constant exchanges without smart defense can cause serious problems for fighters later in life.

At 39 years old, Usyk is one of boxing’s top technical fighters. He is preparing to defend his WBC heavyweight title against kickboxing star Rico Verhoeven at the Pyramids of Giza this weekend.

For now, the heavyweight division is focused on Daniel Dubois, Fabio Wardley and a potential rematch that could shape the next title picture.

Bold Rousey vs. Carano fight card selection, including Mike Perry upset win over Nate Diaz

On Saturday night inside the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, Most Valuable Promotions and Netflix will be shaking up the mixed martial arts game with their Rousey vs. Carano event. The 11-fight card will showcase the past, present and future of the sport and will feature a star-studded main card.

In the night’s headliner, women’s MMA legends and pioneers, Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano, will face off in a dream fight that no one ever expected. Additionally, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou will be in action against one-time PFL Champion Phillip Lynn, and fan favorite brawlers Nate Diaz and Mike Perry will face off in a welterweight bout.

Ahead of Saturday’s card, we offer predictions for who will win the evening’s main card bouts.

Junior Dos Santos vs. Robellis Despaigne

rousey vs carano
Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

Junior dos Santos will go down as one of the greatest heavyweight fighters in MMA history. However, the 42-year-old has a lot of wear and tear on his body. Especially his chin. While he has won back-to-back fights at the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships, he faces a tough matchup against bronze medalist Robellis Despaigne of Cuba on Saturday.

The taekwondo master has speed and length – which he uses well. This is demonstrated during the seven-fight winning streak of the new Karate Combat Heavyweight Champion. If this were 2016, the Brazilian would get the W. But he’s nowhere near that fighter and will have a long night against Despaigne.

Francis Ngannou vs. Philip Lins

At Rousey vs. Carano, former UFC heavyweight king Ngannou returns to the cage for the second time after dethroning the MMA world leader four years ago. While the heavyweight division in MMA is quite weak at the moment, MVP found a strong opponent in “The Predator” Lince.

The former PFL star is entering the fight with a lot of confidence after four consecutive wins in the UFC. However, they were all lightweight. Ngannou will have a massive size and strength advantage. If “Monstro” can stay up and running, he could make this interesting. However, he does not possess great strength, and it seems that it will take only a short time for “The Predator” to catch his prey.

Salahdin Parnasse vs. Kenneth Cross

rousey vs carano

Saturday’s Rousey vs. Carano main card brings an intriguing battle of champions as KSW lightweight king Salahdin Parnasse faces tough-n-uff 155-pound titlist Kenneth Cross. This bout could easily be Fight of the Night as both are talented finishers.

Parnasse has 14 stoppages in 22 wins (7 knockouts and 7 submissions), while Cross has 13 finishes in 17 wins (6 knockouts and 7 submissions). Finally, Parnasse comes from a better promotion where he faces tougher competition. Look for him to approve the decision later this week.

Nate Diaz vs. Mike Perry

rousey vs carano
Credit: Sarah Stier/Getty Images for Netflix

The fight most fans are waiting for is the welterweight bout between popular brawler Diaz and Perry. The former is one of the most popular fighters in UFC history. However, the age difference in this scrap cannot be ignored.

Diaz turned 41 last month and has 34 fights to his body and chin. Perry has suffered plenty of brain trauma throughout his 22-fight career, but at age 34, he is a far better athlete than he is right now. At the same time, he brings legal power into his hands and is feeling confident having emerged as one of BKFC’s hottest talents.

Diaz is sure to get a lot of stakes, but expect an upset split-decision win for Perry after scoring a few knockdowns during the fight.

Ronda Rousey vs Gina Carano

rousey vs carano
Credit: Sarah Stier/Getty Images for Netflix

No one expected a fight between Rousey and Carano to ever happen and there were many who did not want it to happen. But we’re getting it on Netflix, and it’s still a dream fight with historical relevance as two of the most important figures in the evolution of women’s MMA.

Both women are motivated and look to be in good shape – especially Carano. But it won’t be a display of elite athleticism as Rousey turned 39 last month and Carano turned 44. The big question is, can Rousey avoid taking some big shots to dominate Carano and throw her around?

Rousey is very durable and is the better athlete of the two at the moment. Furthermore, Carano never came close to facing a wrestler of the silver medalist judoka’s caliber. “Rowdy” should have learned from the knockouts in her previous two fights and been more cautious as she looked for takedowns and forced Carano to tap in Round 2.

Orlando Magic pull off surprising upset, lead Pistons in first-round series

In a surprising development, the 8th-seeded Orlando Magic continued their stellar performance to take a 2-1 series lead against the No. 1-seeded Detroit Pistons. The Magic got an excellent performance from Paolo Banchero with a near triple-double. The Pistons—who had never really been challenged in the Eastern Conference all year—were now firmly on their heels.

Banchero finished with 25 points, 12 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks. The 23-year-old becomes the youngest player to record this set of numbers in NBA playoff history. He finished his eye-popping effort with one of the strangest shots we’ve seen in these playoffs.

Banchero was completely classy right after the game, though, while acknowledging his respect for the top-seeded player, he was unwilling to chide the Pistons.

“We have a lot of respect for those guys, but we also know our abilities, what we have in our locker room. We’re not afraid of them.”

Not to be outdone, Desmond Benn also scored 25 points in this game, while hitting seven three-pointers.

Pistons’ stars run out as Magic take 2-1 series lead

Although, truth be told, the Pistons didn’t really deserve to be in this game. Save for a 20-8 run in the fourth quarter to give the Magic a scare, their game was very poor. And the team that led the East almost to the wire needs to figure things out quickly.

The Pistons don’t want to add their names to the ranks of the biggest-ever NBA playoff upset victims. The Denver Nuggets, led by the iconic Dikembe Mutombo, were the first No. 8 seed to clinch the No. 1 spot by defeating the top-seeded Seattle SuperSonics in 1994. Only six times in NBA history has the 8th seed defeated the top seed in the first round.

Cade Cunningham, Detroit’s MVP, turned the ball over nine times, largely due to Orlando’s full-court pressure and double-teams. Jalen Duran had another brutal game – he averaged only 9.0 points and 8.2 rebounds in the series. That’s down from his regular season totals of 19.5 ppg and 10.5 boards.

Detroit’s stars need to play like they did – like Banchero and Benn did for Orlando today – or the Pistons may run out of gas sooner than expected.

Five keys to allowing the Senators to upset the Hurricanes in the first round

We’re just hours away from the start of the Senators’ first round series against the Hurricanes! So, how can the Sens upset the best team in the Eastern Conference? Let’s take a closer look at the five keys to victory for the Ottawa Senators.

Read More: Senators-Hurricanes Playoff Preview

1. Use last year’s experience to your advantage

It is often thought that before you can learn to win, you have to learn to lose. Well, that’s what the senators did last year. They fell 3–0 in the series against the Maple Leafs. It was not lack of effort that cost him. Instead, it felt like they were trying to do too much and failing even in the game’s biggest moments.

The first game was a bad one, with the Leafs scoring three times on six power play opportunities. The second game didn’t start any better, as the Leafs led 2–0 after the first period. Ultimately, the Senators began exploring playoff hockey. Unfortunately, they lost both games two and three in overtime, falling into a hole that was too deep to climb out of. A year later, it would be surprising to see the Senators look so bad to start the series. Not only do they have playoff experience from last year, but many of their best players are coming in with Olympic experience as well.

2. Linus Ullmark From the end of the season, not the beginning

There were two different versions of Linus Ullmark in this season. have a look:

  • first 28 starts: 2.95 GAA, .881 SV%, 43% of his starts allowing two or fewer goals
  • final 21 start: 2.41 GAA, .904 SV%, allowed two goals or less in 62% of his starts

Since Ullmark’s return from leave of absence, he was second in the league with 14 wins. On paper, he is the best goalkeeper option for any team. The Hurricanes have their own goaltending issues, with Brandon Bussey continuing to struggle. The ulmark does not need to be at the level of your vagina (although it would be nice). He can’t be the goalie that was hindering the Senators’ wins in the first half of the season.

3. Penalty kill from the end of the season, not the beginning

The Senators had two different versions of their penalty kill this season. have a look:

  • first 50 games: 71.7%, 43 power play goals against, 3 shorthanded goals
  • last 32 games: 83.1%, 14 power play goals against, 5 shorthanded goals

On January 24, the Senators placed Mike Yeo in charge of their penalty kill. That’s when the turnaround happened, where the Senators went from having the second-worst penalty kill in the league to the fifth-best. It’s obvious what changed – the Senators’ goaltending improved, but what was even more serious was how much more aggressive play the Senators played while shorthanded. This not only improved the kill percentage, but on the other hand, offensive chances also became higher.

This will be a big battle in this series which both teams feel they should win. The Hurricanes are fourth in the league at 24.9%. The Senators penalty kill cost them last year’s playoffs, allowing six goals on 17 power plays.

4. Sanderson, Stützle and Tkachuk as the best players in the series

When it comes to any playoff series, it is quite clear that to win, a team needs its star players to play like star players. The Hurricanes have incredible depth and some great players. However, they do not have any true superstars. In last year’s conference finals, Bennett, Barkov and Tkachuk combined to score 21 points for the Panthers, while Jarvis, Aho and Svechnikov only scored 14 points.

Last year against the Maple Leafs, Sanderson, Stützle and Tkachuk all played very well. However, on the other hand, Nylander, Matthews and Marner combined to score 24 points. If the Sens can walk away from this series feeling that there is no doubt that their stars were the best players in the series, they will likely be victorious.

5. Pinto as the best defensive forward in the series

No team can suppress shots like the Hurricanes. Jakob Slavin is considered the best defensive player in hockey. In the Selke’s last two years of voting for top defensive forward, Jordan Staal, Seth Jarvis and Sebastian Aho have received votes. That includes Jordan Staal’s second-place finish two years ago.

It’s clear the Hurricanes will try to slow down Tim Stuetzle at first. The Senators, on the other hand, will have to slow down a team that has scored 291 goals this season, second-most in the NHL. If this series ends with people praising Jordan Staal’s great defensive play, it doesn’t bode well for the Senators.

However, if it is Shane Pinto who emerges as the best defensive forward in the series, it will be a huge advantage for the Sens. In last year’s playoffs, he was tasked with playing shift after shift against the Matthews-Marner-Nese line. He spent the entire season battling the opposition’s best players. A certain writer believes Pinto deserves Selke votes for his work this season. Now he will have to continue the same game in the playoffs also.

final thoughts

Senators fans should be prepared for a grind-it-out type of series. It’s difficult to get a shot against the Hurricanes, as well as difficult to win, especially in the first round of the playoffs. The Hurricanes are deep, well-trained and experienced. For the Senators to complete the upset, they will need to win most of the key points discussed above. Here’s one last thing worth mentioning before the first game starts this afternoon: The Senators have never won a series after losing two games, losing all ten times this has happened. Translation? The Sens need to steal a game in Carolina.

Josh Minott takes aim at Karl-Anthony Towns’ physicality after nearly upset by New York

Karl-Anthony Towns and the New York Knicks narrowly avoided embarrassment during a 93-92 win over the shorthanded Brooklyn Nets on Friday. Despite playing against a rotation consisting primarily of rookies, two-way players and two-day signees, Mike Brown’s team struggled against Brooklyn’s aggressive defense for most of the game.

Towns and Jalen Brunson recovered from a slow start to hold off a Brooklyn comeback in the final minutes. After the matchup, the Nets extended forward Josh Minot said brooklyn tried to make Towns are becoming uncomfortable with their increasing physicality.

“I played with Kat for two and a half years [in Minnesota]. this is how i know her [the back of my hand]And she doesn’t like physicality,” Minot said. “I like Kat, but she doesn’t like physicality. He is also my boy. I hope this makes him angry. But we were really involved in bringing that physicality to it. He started flamboyantly in the second half. He is a really talented player. But we were going to do everything in our power to stop him.”

After a scoreless first quarter, in which the Knicks scored only 14 points, Towns found his rhythm late and led New York to a narrow victory.

He finished with 26 points and 15 rebounds on 7-16 shooting from the field and 11-13 shooting from the free-throw line. Meanwhile, Minot led Brooklyn with a team-high 22 points on 8 of 13 shooting from the field and 6 of 9 from three.

Towns has struggled to replicate his production from last season during the Knicks’ irregular 2025-26 campaign. He is averaging 20.1 points and 11.9 rebounds on .491/.365/.851 shooting splits in 66 appearances.

The All-Star big man is adept at drawing fouls on drives, attempting a career-high 9.0 free throws per 100 possessions. However, he has struggled to transition around the rim. According to CleaningTheGlass, Towns shot a career-low 60 percent from within four feet, which is the NBA’s worst percentage among Big 20 players who have played more than 1,700 minutes this season.

As the regular season winds down, the Knicks are attempting to catch the Boston Celtics for the Eastern Conference second seed. The five-game winning streak has pulled New York to within two games of Boston with 12 games remaining.

Caps upset red-hot Sabers in Buffalo

The Washington Capitals (33-27-7) go up against a tough opponent on Thursday night. Thankfully, they were able to pull out a 2-1 upset win over the Buffalo Sabers (40-10-6).

It wasn’t easy though, as the Capitals got off to a slow start. Sam Carrick got Buffalo on the board early as the Sabers looked for their ninth consecutive win.

However, the Capitals took the lead in the middle frame as Ryan Leonard tied it with a tally. The rookie now has goals in three consecutive games.

Charlie Lindgren was also impressive against a fiery Buffalo team. The 32-year-old netminder stopped shot after shot and finished with 29 saves.

“Again, the character of this team — just going out and continuing to fight,” Lindgren said. “It was fun to watch. I thought we played very well the last 40 minutes.”

Late in regulation, the Capitals got just what they needed as Jacob Chykrun scored the game-winner with 1:33 remaining. Washington kept their playoff hopes alive as they handed Buffalo their first loss since Feb. 5.

After that, the Capitals will return home for a Saturday afternoon matchup against Boston.

capitals analysis

After a blowout 4-1 loss to Philadelphia on Wednesday, the Capitals knew they would face a big test the next evening. Buffalo entered Thursday as one of the top teams in the NHL after years of futility.

The Sabers took the lead early and led 1–0 in the opening period. Former Capital Beck Malensteen skated in and slid the puck past Carrick in front for the tally.

Fortunately, Lindgren was able to shut out Buffalo the rest of the way. The netminder got the start after Logan Thompson played last night in Philadelphia.

The Capitals were also successful on the penalty kill late in the first. Olympic gold medalist Tage Thompson fired five consecutive one-timers, but none of them went in.

The second period is when the Capitals really started playing well. Trailing 1-0, Leonard skated up the ice with the puck and hit a wicked shot to tie it 1-1.

The 21-year-old registered his 14th goal of the season in the process. He extended his goal streak to three games and his point streak to five.

Due to the match being very competitive, the match remained tied at 1-1. After being outshot in the first two periods, the Capitals outscored Buffalo 13–4 in the third.

Then, with 1:33 left in regulation, Aliaksei Protas found a wide open chicron, who fired in for the game-winner. The 27-year-old now leads all NHL defensemen with 23 tallies and seven game-winning goals this season.

Additionally, Protas’ assist proved to be the 100th assist of his career. The Russian forward now has 45 points this season.

Jarrett Allen buzzer-beater waived, Bucks upset

The marquee matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Milwaukee Bucks ended in thrilling fashion. The Bucks won 118–116 in the absence of Giannis Antetokounmpo, as seven Milwaukee players scored in double figures, led by Kevin Porter Jr., who finished with 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

However, the Cavs’ Jarrett Allen came incredibly close to tying the game with a late layup that was contested by two players. Dennis Schroder initially ran inside the paint, before his missed layup was eventually caught by Allen, who launched his shot with less than a second on the clock and the Cavs trailing 118-116, according to a post on X by ClutchPoints.

However, the ball was released too late and the Bucks got the win. The Cavs were without both Donovan Mitchell and James Harden heading into the game battling injuries.

Allen had a positive game, top-scoring with 27 points and also grabbing 11 boards. It was the fifth consecutive game in which Allen finished with a double-double, and his 9th in 10 games since his spectacular 40-point performance against the Portland Trail Blazers earlier in the month.

He was accompanied by Dennis Schröder, who was the second-highest scorer that night with 26 points and five assists. The Cavs also saw Keon Ellis come off the bench to score 14 points, while Thomas Bryant added 11 points.

However, Milwaukee was the better shooting team on the night, producing an impressive 54.5% accuracy from the field and 42.2% accuracy from beyond the arc. AJ Green and Kyle Kuzma both converted five of their 10 three-point attempts, with Myles Turner also going 3-5 from three-point field.

The Bucks moved to 26-31 for the season and will now face the New York Knicks. Meanwhile, the Cavs will visit the Detroit Pistons and move into fourth place in the Eastern Conference with a 37-23 record, now trailing the Knicks by one game.

Kendrick Perkins guarantees Houston playoff upset

Despite high expectations heading into the 2025-26 campaign, ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins doesn’t see a deep playoff run for the Houston Rockets. Head coach Ime Udoka calling out the Rockets’ Amen Thompson is another example of the issue that has plagued Houston’s season, preventing the team from reaching its full potential.

Perkins doesn’t expect this from the Rockets make it out he said about the opening round of the playoffs, according to ESPN’s First Take.

“The Rockets are going home in the first round,” Perkins said. “Number one, they lack high basketball-IQ. Number two, they’ve lost their identity defensively. They used to be a defensive-minded team. I don’t know what happened. Number three, they play individual, selfish basketball.”

Without a fluid offense, the Rockets would not be able to advance to the second round. And for Perkins, Thompson isn’t the only Rockets player with a selfless approach to the offense.

Perkins said, “There are times when you look at Amen Thompson. He wants to be one-on-one. Show the world he can go get buckets.” “There is no structure to his crime – it’s the same with Sengun.”

However, above all, what bothers Kendrick Perkins the most is that the Rockets did not try to make a deal for Milwaukee Bucks All-Star Giannis Antetokounmpo at the trade deadline.

If it’s not Rockets All-Star Kevin Durant’s social media accusations, it’s coach Ime Udoka’s call to Amen Thompson that had the Rockets in the news last week. According to Kelly Echo of The Athletic, Udoka said he stopped moving when the ball got into Thompson’s hands.

“The ball stopped moving, started getting a lot of separation. Same story – we’ve lost too many games like that. I’m telling Amen and Reed to be more demonstrative and get us into our sets; this is not the time to freestyle. Turnovers hurt, but bad offense hurts just as bad.”

The Rockets will look to bounce back from a 108-106 loss to the Knicks when they host the Jazz on Monday.

Jalen Green hits buzzer-beater to send Magic home in OT upset

The Phoenix Suns prevailed 113-110 at home against the Orlando Magic on Saturday after Jalen Green’s game-winner at the buzzer in overtime. With the score tied at 110 and the Suns in possession, Green caught an inbounds pass on the move from Royce O’Neale, firing a sharp shot from the corner that found the bottom of the net.

Jalen Green’s game-winner at the buzzer snapped a two-game losing streak for the Suns, which went back to before the All-Star break. He finished with 19 points, five rebounds, six assists and one steal in 37 minutes of play. He did not have the most efficient night, shooting only 6 of 26 from the field, including 2 of 11 from the 3-point line. But his last shot in OT was the biggest.

After missing 41 of the Suns’ first 43 games due to a hamstring injury, Green returned to the lineup in late January. However, he was still troubled by injury problems and played in only five of the Suns’ games just before the All-Star break.

In the Suns’ first game after the break last Thursday, Green returned to the starting lineup and played a little more than 26 minutes in a loss to the San Antonio Spurs. He had 26 points, three rebounds, two assists and three steals in that game.

With Green not seeing a majority of play in the first half of the regular season, his return to the Suns rotation was almost like a trade deadline acquisition in itself.

Coming into Saturday’s game, Green had appeared in eight games for the Suns at a rate of just over 16 minutes per game. He averaged 13.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists with splits of 42.7 percent shooting from the field, 37 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 84.6 percent shooting from the free-throw line.

“Shorts, barefoot” – Aston Villa players managed to upset the director during a transfer meeting

Atletico Madrid have been linked to the signing of Aston Villa’s Boubacar Kamara.

At least that’s what RMC Sports journalist Daniel Riolo is reporting, and le10 sport Has released his comments.

After ending his 18-year tenure at Marseille, the France international joined Aston Villa on a free transfer in July 2022.

Kamara’s refusal to commit his future to his boyhood club attracted interest from several European clubs and Unai Emery’s side won the battle. His decision to leave the French club for Villains did not please Marseille president Pablo Longoria.

La Liga side Aston Villa wanted the player

Prior to his move to Villa Park, Riolo claims that Atletico Madrid had shown solid interest in the midfielder. In fact, the La Liga side had sent an official to France for face-to-face talks with him.

Los Rojiblancos wanted to include the 26-year-old in Diego Simeone’s squad and the trip to France was mostly to convince him to choose him over others. Riolo gives an insight into what happened behind the scenes with the Spanish club.

“He almost went to Atlético. I’ll tell you a little story anyway. At one point during the season Atlético showed interest in him. Joining such a club would have been a very good option for him,” He said.

“Atletico were so interested in him that they sent their director to meet Kamara. They were wondering where they would meet. If they were seen together would people talk or not, etc. As it happens, the Atlético director is not very famous in France, so they thought, ‘No problem, I’ll come to you!’

Atletico official meets midfielder in France

The journalist did not mention details of the officer who had traveled to France.

“So he [the director] Went to Kamra’s house. He arranged a meeting, gave him his address,” Riolo explained.

“He arrived, rang the doorbell, and Kamara welcomed him, in shorts, barefoot. The Atlético director said, ‘I walked through the door, and I knew perfectly well that such a person could never sign with us. Because you can’t welcome a sporting director dressed like that, without any consideration, without any thought. There were three dudes there, barefoot, in shorts…’ He talked, and he thought, ‘We would never have such a person. Will not be able to sign.

Atletico missing out on Kamara will surely please Emery and Aston Villa. Last July, the Premier League side rewarded him with a new contract until 2030.
