fulham Famalicão are considering manager Hugo Oliveira as he steps up his efforts to find a replacement for Marco Silva.
game report The 46-year-old is being considered as an option by Fulham's leadership as they seek a replacement for Silva at Craven Cottage.
Portuguese manager wanted
Fulham are looking for a new manager following Silva's move to Benfica, where he replaced Jose Mourinho.
According to the newspaper, at the moment his focus is on other Portuguese managers. They report that 'there is a long list of candidates' for the post.
The strongest option was Kieran McKenna. But he has decided to step away from football after leaving the post at Ipswich Town. This led Fulham to Portugal, where two names are currently leading the race.
Reuben Amorim was the third name on the list. But he has no intention of returning to an England team whose goals he considers 'lesser' than Manchester United.
So, the options for Fulham at the moment are Vishal Oliveira and Abel Ferreira. However, the latter may be difficult to obtain as he has regularly rejected advances to leave Palmeiras.
already worked at fulham
Oliveira is the more likely option. He led Famalicão to their highest ever achievement and missed out on Europe by a narrow margin due to Torrance's cup win this season.
He has already worked under Silva at Fulham, also as his assistant. He also had spells with them at Hull City, Watford and Everton. This means he knows the Premier League and England well, so there should be no problems settling back into Craven Cottage.
Fulham, for their part, are aiming to secure an appointment next week. There is no indication yet whether he has taken any action or not. Frank Lampard, Scott Parker, Ange Postecoglou, Thomas Frank and Kjetil Knutsson are all names being linked with the role.
But it is Hugo Oliveira who currently seems to be at the forefront of their thinking. His previous experience at the club may give him an edge over the rest.
