celtic Forward Kelechi Iheanacho has reportedly been offered to Vasco da Gama. However, the Brazilian club have already decided not to make a deal.
According to Brazilian outlet note vascanioThe Nigerian striker was recently presented as a market opportunity for Wasco's hierarchy.
The proposal was considered internally. Nevertheless, club officials quickly concluded that Iheanacho did not fit the profile they were targeting for the remainder of the season.
That decision means there will be no meaningful development. That possibility appears to have effectively ended before formal talks could even begin.
Celtic's future remains uncertain
Kelechi Iheanacho arrived at Celtic in September 2025 on a one-year contract. The contract included an option for a further season.
The former Manchester City and Leicester City striker suffered an inconsistent campaign, largely due to fitness issues and injuries. However, he still managed to make significant contributions when available.
He scored nine goals in just 890 minutes in all competitions. This included several decisive strikes during Celtic's successful domestic campaign. His goal against Motherwell, keeping the title race alive until the final day, was a memorable moment of his campaign.
However, his status remains somewhat unclear. While Iheanacho has publicly indicated that he would like to remain at Celtic, it has not been confirmed whether the club intends to activate his option. It is also unclear whether they will keep him beyond this season.
Former PL striker still attracting interest
The Vasco approach – albeit unsuccessful – shows that Iheanacho continues to attract attention outside Europe.
The 29-year-old made his reputation during stints with Manchester City and Leicester City. He scored over 60 senior goals in English football before moving to Sevilla, Middlesbrough and then Celtic.
For now, Wasco has moved on to other targets, but this episode adds another layer of uncertainty to Iheanacho's summer. With his Celtic contract situation still unresolved and the club clearly exploring possibilities, his future could become a story to watch in the coming weeks.
