RB Leipzig star Yann Diomande should take "Florian Wirtz's example" and turn down a move this summer liverpool.
At least that's the opinion of German icon Stefan Freund. He believes that another year would be the best for the 20-year-old rising talent. Sportbild reports Freund's comments today.
Liverpool's €100m bid
Yann Diomande is Europe's rising star Liverpool are strongly prepared to sign him in this summer. The Reds see him as a replacement for Mohamed Salah and have already had a €100m bid rejected by the German side.
Andoni Ierola's side are reportedly ready to make a second bid for the winger. PSG's interest also remains on the sidelines. However, Freund would not like to see him move to Anfield this summer.
"He should stay in Leipzig for another year," He said.
“If he maintains his excellent form next season, he could still move to a bigger club. Because the next step will bring pressure – much more pressure than he has experienced so far.
"He can afford to have the odd bad game at Leipzig. If he leaves now, and if it's not the right club, he will take a step back."
Wirtz example
The biggest issue for Freund is the pressure and expectation that Yann Diomande would face in making such a move.
He is afraid of a repeat of what happened to Florian Wirtz this season. The midfielder made a €120m move to Liverpool last summer but has struggled in his first season in England.
"Physically, he should be able to manage it," He added.
“But take Florian Wurtz for example: he joined the defending champions and was expected to win the title immediately. The pressure on him is very high.
"In the Premier League, he's up against better full-backs than in the Bundesliga. It's a different kettle of fish – it's a real battle there."
