Sunderland Eliezer is close to finalizing a deal with Stade Rennais for Mayenda to leave the Stadium of Light this summer.

Journalist Santi Auna's report Sunderland are working on a deal with the French side which should be worth around €25m plus bonuses.

Sunderland exit close

According to Aouna, Sunderland and Rennes want to seal a deal for the 21-year-old in the coming days.

Reports have linked Eliezer Mayenda with a move away from Sunderland during the summer. Sport Witness covered a report today That said, reports linking him to Porto have been dismissed, with Spain and France still being potential options.

Stade Rennais was one of the contenders named in that report. Now it seems that they have overtaken the race to get the deal.

Auna report that he and Sunderland are close to finalizing a deal worth around €25m including bonuses for the striker. Both of those clubs want to get that deal done as soon as possible and it appears to be progressing well.

Big profit for Sunderland

The deal would represent a huge profit for Sunderland, who paid €800,000 for the forward in 2023. He spent the next season on loan at Hibernian before returning in 2024.

Since his arrival the youngster has scored 12 goals and six assists in 72 games for the Black Cats. But he managed only eight starts in the Premier League last season despite making a total of 20 appearances. He played just one minute in the league since March and spent six of the last seven matches on the bench.

It is he who has opened the door to the exit from the Stadium of Light. And that exit now appears to be progressing. Negotiations over a deal worth more than €25 million to sell him to Rennes are moving in the right direction.
