Juventus is trying to sign Aston VillaEMI Martínez for weeks. He hasn't made much progress, but he still hasn't stopped moving forward.

Aston Villa's demands have proved a problem. They haven't gone down from their valuation of €10m to €15m, with Juve's initial offer well below their asking price.

Newly appointed Massara has held a meeting with CEO Giovanni Carnevali about possible transfers this summer. On Wednesday (July 8), they will have formal discussions with Martínez's agent as they look to determine the cost of the investment.
If that goes well, they will then talk to Aston Villa in an attempt to reach a final agreement.

The Italian made it clear that the deal would be expensive but that Juve would be patient.
He said: “He is playing in the World Cup, we have to wait and understand why we are interested, but we are not alone.
“There are players who are very highly rated and these are things we need to monitor carefully.”
This probably reflects Juve's own stance, as they still don't seem too nervous about the situation.

The Italian press are convinced that Martínez is desperate for a move. But so far, he has not pushed for a transfer and appears happy with Aston Villa. If he stays, he will play in the Champions League and remain first-choice for at least another season.
However, if he pressed for a transfer, the Villans could not deny his request. Juve's patience shows they want this and are waiting until the World Cup is over to make the move.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa are in no rush to sell him and have no reason to lower their demand.
