George Pickens has been in NFL trade rumors since the Dallas Cowboys issued him the non-exclusive franchise tag in March. The Cowboys want to pair Pickens with CeeDee Lamb; However, the price would be too high for a player of his caliber. The 25-year-old wide receiver is a popular name in NFL trade rumors, and Dallas co-owner Stephen Jones has broken his silence.
The Cowboys "haven't had any calls from anyone interested in George Pickens" regarding a potential trade, as Jones said on 105.3 The Fan, via ESPN's Todd Archer. Jones joined 105.3 The Fan and also talked about Dallas' process for the 2026 NFL Draft before addressing Pickens' situation.
Despite NFL trade rumors, the Cowboys' wide receiver has not been a popular call around the league. Many NFL teams like the New England Patriots and the Baltimore Ravens are in need of an elite wide receiver. It is interesting to note that no one called Pickens before the NFL Draft.
The Cowboys could get one to two first-round picks for Pickens, but the clear priority is to find the right number on a contract extension. This may be part of why Dallas hasn't received a call about the 25-year-old star. Pickens needs a big contract that could be closer to $35 to $40 million annually on a multi-year contract.
If an NFL team signed Pickens to an offer sheet, it would have to send two first-round draft picks to Dallas as compensation. Pickens would need to sign his $27.3 million non-exclusive franchise tag to replace the prospect package. However, the Cowboys still have long-term plans for the wide receiver.
So far, the Cowboys have not received a call on Pickens, but that could change this summer.
