During the 2024/25 season, Newcastle United finished fifth and won the EFL Cup, ending their trophy drought of over six decades.
The Magpies were in the Champions League this season and were knocked out in the round of 16 by Barcelona.
They struggled in the league, finishing 12th, 11 points behind fifth-placed Liverpool. Eddie Howe failed to qualify for Europe the following season, which was not expected.
Guimaraes finished the season with nine goals and eight assists in 3,322 minutes in 41 matches. He is now preparing for the World Cup with the Brazilian national team.

AS asked the midfielder what lessons he has learned from the Magpies' difficult season.
"This has been a season where we have not reached our full potential, and this will undoubtedly serve as a lesson for the future. We have not been able to maintain consistency, and that has had a significant impact," He said.
Alexander Isak was the English club's top scorer last season with 27 goals and six assists.
Last summer, after leaving St James' Park, he joined Liverpool for a British record fee.
The newspaper specifically asked the former Lyon man whether Isak's exit had a major impact on Newcastle United's project.
Responding to that, Guimaraes explained: "I look at the whole process. I don't think any one incident changed our direction. We lacked good performances, lacked consistency in the starting XI, we had a few injuries and all of that played a role."
Now the focus is on the World Cup
