The Sacramento Kings were expected to be the winner of the 2026 NBA Draft lottery, putting them in a position to land one of the four top-tier prospects available. With the club finishing 7th overall, the draft targets changed significantly.

According to Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo Sports, many around the league “widely believe” the Kings are targeting Arkansas Razorbacks point guard Darius Acuff Jr. with the seventh overall selection.

It should come as no surprise that Sacramento is in the market for a point guard. This has been an issue plaguing the franchise since All-Star point guard De’Aaron Fox was traded away. The organization’s hope was that the lottery would turn out in their favor and that they would have elite chances of their choice among the top three.

Instead, by selecting seventh overall, Sacramento will likely take a top guard who hasn’t already been snatched up. That group of prospects is headlined by Acuff, Arizona guard Brayden Burries and Illinois guard Keaton Wagler.

Acuff, who turns 20 in November, earned SEC Player of the Year honors last season and received unanimous first-team All-American honors as a freshman. Sam Veseni of The Athletic called Acuff potentially “the most polished freshman guard prospect ever.”

The 6-foot-2 guard’s shot creation, ability to get to the paint and passing ability all give him the potential to become a high-level contributor offensively. However, he is also seen as one of the worst guards in the 2026 NBA Draft.

In an era where NBA teams have shown greater reservations about making long-term commitments to undersized guards who struggle defensively, drafting Acuff appears to go against that thinking.

Potentially, Sacramento could draft Acuff and then re-sign Russell Westbrook to serve as a mentor for the rookie this upcoming season. At best, he could develop into a Deron Williams-archetype player.

However, can the 26-year-old captain request a trade if he doesn’t know what he wants from the Senators this offseason?

This seems like a possibility, so what would it actually take for Tkachuk to be traded to the Florida Panthers? This is what needs to happen for Florida.

Brady Tkachuk should request a trade from the Ottawa Senators

It all starts with Tkachuk. For now, the Ottawa forward has publicly shot down trade rumors, but that doesn’t mean things won’t change going forward. For the Panthers to have a chance to acquire Tkachuk this offseason, he would have to request a trade. At that time, he can control the market.

Tkachuk has an absolute no-move clause in his contract, meaning he would have to approve a trade out of Ottawa. Even if an NHL organization wanted to acquire Tkachuk, he could decline the move. This has become a common theme at the NHL trade deadline, as players earn the right to use this clause.

Needless to say, this won’t be a concern for Florida. Tkachuk’s brother Matthew plays for the Panthers and the family has a good relationship with the organization. If Tkachuk wanted to play with the Panthers, he could also tell the Senators that a trade is to “Florida, and only Florida.”

First, Tkachuk would have to request a trade, and so far, that hasn’t happened. However, if the 26-year-old forward makes the decision, the Panthers will need to be ready on offense.

Even if Tkachuk doesn’t come to Florida on trade, there’s still a chance he’ll sign in Florida. The Senators forward has two seasons left on his contract, which is the same as Quinn Hughes when he went through his trade process with the Vancouver Canucks. Ultimately it worked out for both sides.

What seems more likely is that the Panthers will be the top destination by far for Tkachuk. There is a case to be made for the St. Louis Blues, but they can’t give Tkachuk the opportunity to play with his brother. Like Hughes, the Minnesota Wild are facing the same dilemma with a potential contract extension.

Tkachuk would have to formally request a trade from Ottawa, but Florida could make the move if he pulls the trigger.

Some would argue that the Kansas City Chiefs were a little thin at the top of their wide receiver corps ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft. Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy lead the group, but those two starters are still a bit unproven at the NFL level.

The Chiefs were viewed as a candidate to select a receiver in the first round of the draft. They opted not to do this, instead giving the defense a big boost by going with cornerback Mansur Delaney and defensive tackle Peter Woods. Kansas City, meanwhile, did not select a receiver until the fifth round of the draft.

Now the Chiefs’ already thin receiver room will become even more inexperienced during the team’s OTAs and mandatory minicamp.

According to ESPN’s Nate Taylor, Rice, 26, will serve 30 days in jail “in May 2024 as part of pleading guilty to felony counts of causing serious bodily injury in a multicar crash in Dallas and felony counts of causing bodily injury by running on a highway.”

Previous reports suggested that Rice had violated his probation after allegedly testing positive for marijuana.

Either way, Rice has been ordered to spend 30 days in jail, meaning he’s in line to miss the Chiefs’ OTAs and mandatory minicamp.

Kansas City’s OTAs run from May 26-28 and June 1-3. The team’s mandatory minicamp will run from June 9-11. Based on reports from the Dallas County, Texas Criminal District Court, Rice is scheduled to be released from custody on June 16.

His expected absence will give other Chiefs receivers a chance to gain some valuable reps, yet Kansas City could still add another pass-catcher, potentially reuniting with an old friend.

The Detroit Red Wings are looking to make big moves during the 2026 NHL offseason that will get them back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. As of 2026, the Red Wings have the NHL’s longest playoff drought, so Detroit will have to make the playoffs next season. In fact, one NHL insider has labeled one of the NHL’s best free agents as a potential fit in Detroit.

The Athletic’s Max Bultmann named Seattle Kraken forward Bobby McMann as the free agent Detroit should sign this offseason. McMann, who was traded from the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Kraken at the NHL trade deadline, scored 29 goals and 46 points in 78 games between the two organizations.

The 29-year-old forward would bring much-needed five-on-five attack to Detroit on a potentially big payday. However, who else did Bultmann suggest for the Red Wings?

While McMann was the top selection, Bultmann also suggested other players, including Buffalo Sabers forward Alex Tuch. The 30-year-old forward may be the top NHL free agent on the market, but will Buffalo really let him walk? Tuch has scored more than 30 goals in three of the last four seasons.

Meanwhile, Columbus Blue Jackets forward Mason Marchment was another option. Marchement doesn’t provide as much offense as Tuch or McMann, but he could be a cheaper option. However, if Detroit wants to add one of the top free agents, it will have to make a big move or go home.

This leads us to Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin. The Pittsburgh legend is nearing the end of his career, but he has become a Red Wings fan. Malkin can still score around 20 goals per season, and there’s a possibility he’ll get a hometown discount for his favorite team as he grows up.

At the end of the day, McMann, along with Tuch, appears to be one of the top options for Detroit. The latter will be a larger pickup; However, there are doubts that it will reach the market. In this case, McMann appears to be one of the top options left.

Either way, the Red Wings need to take a big step forward this offseason to make the 2027 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Miami Dolphins are entering a rebuild with a new head coach, a new starting quarterback, and several unproven players hoping to make their mark in the NFL. One way to give the offense a better chance to succeed would be to strengthen the offensive line, which includes star running back D’Von Achane. There are several potential impact players still available.

Recently, ESPN’s Matt Bowen called the Dolphins the “best team fit” for former Detroit Lions left tackle Taylor Decker, who is still unsigned in free agency. Decker requested and was granted his release from the Lions earlier this offseason, and has not found a new home since.

However, the 2024 Pro Bowl lineman is still only 32 years old (will turn 33 in August), and he has started all 140 of his appearances since being drafted as the 16th overall pick in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Decker will definitely help the Dolphins get the best from their offensive line, allowing some of the younger players to show off some veteran moves.

Whether Decker, who has become accustomed to entering the season with playoff expectations in Detroit in recent times, wants to join the rebuilding effort in Miami remains to be seen. Stefon Diggs hit NFL free agency this offseason before settling his off-field issues, resulting in quiet months with minimal interest. Now that he’s been acquitted, it won’t be long before he finds a new home.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer addressed Diggs’ situation last week, naming the Washington Commanders, Los Angeles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Falcons as possible landing spots.

Commanders and Chiefs are known in the market for their pass-catching help. While Washington hopes both Terry McLaurin and Luke McCaffrey stay healthy in 2026, its only significant contributor in the receiving room was third-round pick Antonio Williams.

As far as Kansas City is concerned, they are looking for more depth behind Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Tyquan Thornton. Given that Thornton was only used as a deep threat last year and Worthy hasn’t lived up to expectations of being a first-round pick, Diggs may have a chance to become the No. 2 receiver in Kansas City next season.

Breyer believes whichever team signs him, it will likely be a one-year contract in the range of $10 million for the upcoming season. While the cap hit on a one-year deal would be less than $10 million, this ballpark figure would make Diggs approximately the 38th highest-paid receiver in the NFL.

The oddest fit of the above teams would seem to be the Rams. Los Angeles already has two established wide receivers in Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, who attracted 46.9 percent of Matthew Stafford’s pass attempts in 2025. The Rams may not be able to give Diggs the role he wants.

Diggs may wait until closer to NFL training camp to ultimately sign, but his production last year demonstrated he is still a starting-caliber player. Our guess is he’ll sign with either the Chiefs or Commanders.

The results of NASCAR’s 2026 All-Star Race at Dover didn’t stop at just the “boring” format. Another debate quickly erupted on social media over the weekend: Is the race still paying enough to feel truly special?

As for the winner, the answer for a lot of fans seems to be ‘no.’

The NASCAR All-Star Race winner still takes home $1 million, the same top prize the event has offered since 2003. And while that number once seemed huge, many fans now feel it no longer matches the scale, money and publicity of modern NASCAR.

Fans feel the “Jackpot” feeling is gone

For years, the All-Star Race has felt like drivers are risking everything for a life-changing test.

But in 2026, many fans feel that edge is gone. Part of this comes from inflation. A $1 million prize in 2003 would be worth about $1.81 million today, meaning the value of the prize has quietly diminished over time.

And after Dover’s chaotic race weekend, fans began to openly question whether NASCAR needed to seriously reconsider pay.

Some argue that if the sport really wants to make the race feel like a major event again then the winner should now get something closer to $5 million.

Especially now that NASCAR is working under a massive television rights deal worth $7.7 billion through 2031.

One fan on Reddit said nostalgically: “This used to be a really huge cash prize, so all the best drivers were tempted to buy a purse you wouldn’t normally see (outside of the Daytona 500). If you want people to do nothing again, make the prize $5 million.”

Now let’s be clear, and put the demonstrative outrage aside: $1 million is a lot of money, no question about it. It’s just putting that figure in context for the fans’ entertainment. The logic behind this is simple: If NASCAR wants drivers to race aggressively in a non-points exhibition full of wreck risks and experimental formats, the reward must also be huge. Because, to put things in perspective, the top NASCAR Cup Series drivers earn base salaries ranging from $5 million to more than $15 million per season.

When you add up race winnings, performance bonuses and sponsorship deals, the total annual earnings of the sport’s biggest stars often exceed $10 million to $17 million annually. So this means that they will not risk any aggressive moves for a race in which they may not get any points.

Not all fans think money solves problems

At the same time, not everyone believes that throwing more money into the race will suddenly solve everything.

For them, the issue is more about the breed losing its identity over the years. And to be honest, this feeling continued to emerge after Dover.

Driver fans agree. Bubba Wallace recently said that the $3 million prize would probably change the way drivers race aggressively.

We haven’t developed anything yet,” Hamlin said. “So, to change all these things piecemeal, we’re going to make changes, we’re going to spend a lot of money. And it’s only paid $1 million to win. The Chicago Bulls are reportedly considering going after the 2025-26 Coach of the Year contender who is still under contract with the Western Conference playoff team.

After a 31–51 finish and fourth consecutive loss on the season, Billy Donovan decided to step down from his role as head coach of the Bulls. Now, following the installation of a new head of basketball operations in Bryson Graham and his spot at No. 4 in the NBA Draft set, NBA insider Jake Fisher claims the team is expected to “accelerate” the search for Donovan’s replacement.

“Obviously there are ups and downs with the injury process and the comeback and rehab, but the mental battle has been the hardest part: making sure I completely trust it,” Skattebo said. “I’m a little away. Not too far, but I’ll be ready to go. 1 week, I’ll be ready to go.”

Taken with the 104th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Skattebo impressed from the jump. From Weeks 2–7, the Giants running backs averaged 66.8 rushing yards per game and 4.2 yards per carry, totaling six touchdowns.

On October 26, against the Philadelphia Eagles, Skattebo suffered an ankle injury that required season-ending surgery. Fast forward to March, he had worked his way up to a jogging pace.

There was speculation in the weeks leading up to the 2026 NFL Draft that New York would use the fifth overall pick to select running back Jeremiah Love. However, he was selected third overall, and the Giants did not use a single 2026 draft selection on a running back.

This shows that the new Giants coaching staff has a lot of confidence in Skatabo even after the injury. While he plans to once again break up with Tyrone Tracy Jr., it appears the Giants offense will be healthy when Week 1 begins.

The stage is set for the prestigious Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday, the second crown jewel race of the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season. Appropriately, the longest race of the year features a large group of drivers.

There are 39 drivers on the Cup Series entry list for the Coca-Cola 600. One driver, Katherine Legge, is attempting “the double” and may arrive late to Charlotte after competing in the Indianapolis 500. Meanwhile, Corey Heim (23XI Racing) and Timmy Hill (Garage 66) are also part of the field.
