Benfica limbo gives Fulham chance in Marco Silva fight – manager wants concrete answers

fulham Now Benfica’s own uncertainty could work in their favor as Marco Silva prepares for a crucial meeting over his future.

The Portuguese manager has a big renewal offer from the London club, but He is also expected to arrive in Lisbon today As Benfica tries to move the situation closer to a decision. The problem for the Portuguese side is that they still cannot provide him with complete clarity.

These are the main developments from Wednesday’s newspapers in Portugal.

morning mail, to ball And record All present Silva as Benfica’s priority target. However, he has also made it clear that Jose Mourinho’s drawn-out situation is now causing problems for the Lisbon club.

According to Correio da Manha, the uncertainty over Mourinho’s expected exit has created concerns inside Benfica. The issue was also discussed at a meeting on Monday between Rui Costa and the club’s football structure.

If Benfica takes too long, the head coach may begin to walk away from the position.

Marco Silva wants more Benfica clarity

Correiro da Manha says Marco Silva has an important meeting with Fulham on Thursday.

This is important because Fulham have proposed a four-year renewal With a net annual salary of around €7.5m (£6.3m) on the table. That’s a serious proposition, and Benfica simply can’t compete with those numbers.

The newspaper adds that Silva would like to go into that Fulham meeting with more concrete information about Benfica.

From Fulham’s perspective, Benfica’s delay could help. Silva is interested in the Lisbon challenge, but he still needs certainty about Mourinho’s future, the playing project and the conditions in which he will play.

One Bola says Silva is expected to arrive in Lisbon today and should follow up with Benfica in the coming days.

Silva has already said in England that his decision will be known by the end of this week. Ek Bola reiterates that he is ready to remain at Fulham or leave after five seasons.

Benfica has pace and problems

A statement said the 48-year-old manager is receptive to the project. The challenge at the Estadio da Luz has been described as attractive, and Benfica are prepared to make a significant financial effort within the reality of Portuguese football.

The offer being prepared by Rui Costa’s board is unlikely to match the Premier League money. However, this would involve a long-term contract, which is one of Silva’s demands.

still, Benfica’s problem remains Mourinho. The current manager still has one year left on his contract. A Bola says the possibility of him leaving Real Madrid is gaining momentum, but nothing has been decided yet.

Benfica cannot formally proceed while this is unresolved.

Limbo can push options away

Correio da Manhã goes further on the damage it causes. They say there is an internal fear at Benfica that this obstacle could push away potential candidates.

The issue is that whoever comes in may be made to feel like second choice because the club is still waiting for Mourinho. Its impact is already happening.

The newspaper says some coaches have become cautious because of the uncertainty. Others, even without direct contact, have already taken the initiative to say no, including Jorge Jesus and Ruben Amorim.

This gives Fulham another potential advantage. If Silva feels that Benfica cannot give him enough guarantees ahead of the Fulham meeting, he may opt for the safer route of staying in England.

Record says Benfica are still in the works

The Home of Record report adds another layer. They say Rui Costa and Mario Branco are not standing still waiting for a solution to Mourinho’s future. Benfica is already working on potential transfer targets and contacts are ongoing.

The goal is to move forward quickly once the new manager is confirmed.

Record say that Benfica want to be able to announce the signing just days after naming their coach. This urgency is partly because their season starts earlier than expected on July 23.

The record states that Benfica do not expect much changes, but they are assessing the outlook for the players already in the squad. Major sales will be required due to financial pressure after missing out on Champions League qualification.

Still, the new manager will have a say in those decisions. That’s why delay matters a lot.

The meeting route looks less dangerous

A Bola also brings a useful detail from outside the Benfica-Fulham fight.

Marco Silva has been linked with Milan, but Gazzetta dello Sport now points to Andoni Ierola as the main candidate for the Italian club.

According to A Bola’s summary, Ierola has already met with Milan owner Gerry Cardinale, with a final decision expected within a week.

Irola has also been linked with a move to Benfica, but this development does not make Milan look like a direct threat to Silva.

So for now, the battle remains between Fulham and Benfica.

Oleksandr Usyk leaves upset after Daniel Dubois vs. Fabio Wardley heavyweight fight

The Daniel Dubois vs. Fabio Wardley heavyweight fight at Manchester’s Co-op Live Arena on May 9 was one of the most brutal boxing matches of 2026. Daniel Dubois went to the canvas twice before stopping Fabio Wardley in the 11th round to win back the WBO world heavyweight title and become a two-time champion.

The fight featured constant exchanges, heavy punches and dramatic momentum shifts that kept fans engaged from start to finish. After the fight, unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk shared his honest reaction during an interview with DAZN Boxing.

While Usyk praised Dubois for the victory, he also questioned Wardley’s tactics and raised concerns about the damage both fighters suffered during the intense heavyweight battle. His comments soon became one of the biggest talking points in boxing.

Oleksandr Usyk Criticizes Fabio Wardley’s Tactics in Daniel Dubois Fight

Oleksandr Usyk focused heavily on Fabio Wardley’s lack of basic boxing technique during the Daniel Dubois fight. Speaking to DAZN Boxing, Usyk questioned why Wardley failed to use his jab throughout the contest.

“This is a street fight. Congratulations Dubois, good job, new world champion, but Fabio, where’s the jab? Fabio, where?. [He] Never stabbed. maybe once. Only the right hand, only the right hand. Not working. Very strong chin but I think this is a street fight, it’s a problem for both guys [the] Brain and Health.”

Wardley enters the fight with strong momentum after defending the WBO titles against Justice Hauni and Joseph Parker in 2025. Many expected him to control the fight against Dubois. Instead, Wardley relied primarily on power punches and aggressive exchanges.

Dubois handled the pressure and gradually turned the fight around with body shots and forward movement. As the round continued, Wardley endured more punishment while his offense became less effective.

Daniel Dubois revives heavyweight boxing career after brutal victory over Fabio Wardley

Daniel Dubois’ victory marked another big moment in his return to heavyweight boxing. Dubois had faced criticism after previous losses, including to Oleksandr Usyk. However, the British heavyweight showed toughness and grit against Wardley.

Dubois survived two knockdowns before taking control in the later rounds. His pressure and conditioning ultimately overwhelmed Wardley in the 11th round.

The result also changed the immediate future of the heavyweight division. Usyk has previously expressed interest in fighting the winner as he continues his pursuit of another undisputed heavyweight championship run. That plan will now be put on hold as Wardley has activated the rematch clause in his contract.

Promoters are already discussing a second Daniel Dubois vs. Fabio Wardley fight after the first bout received praise from fans and the boxing media.

Oleksandr Usyk warned about health risks after heavyweight fight

Oleksandr Usyk’s biggest concern after the Daniel Dubois fight centered around fighter safety. The Ukrainian champion said the fight looked more like a “street fight” than a technical boxing match.

Both the giants faced clean punches for about 11 rounds. Wardley’s tenacity helped him stay in the fight, but his defensive mistakes allowed Dubois to be landed repeatedly.

Usyk’s comments reflect growing concerns about the long-term health risks associated with repeated head injuries and punishing fighting in boxing. Even though fans applauded the action, Usyk stressed that constant exchanges without smart defense can cause serious problems for fighters later in life.

At 39 years old, Usyk is one of boxing’s top technical fighters. He is preparing to defend his WBC heavyweight title against kickboxing star Rico Verhoeven at the Pyramids of Giza this weekend.

For now, the heavyweight division is focused on Daniel Dubois, Fabio Wardley and a potential rematch that could shape the next title picture.

Georges St-Pierre gives Netflix and MVP a chance at the next MMA dream fight after Rousey-Carano

UFC icon Georges St-Pierre may have left the door open for Netflix and Most Valuable Promotions to book his next mixed martial arts dream fight after this weekend’s Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano fight.

For many longtime UFC fans, St-Pierre is the greatest fighter in MMA history. The Canadian player performed brilliantly during his 15 years in the game. He amassed a record of 26–2 and would become the greatest welterweight of all time after successfully defending the title 10 times. He then cemented his place as a true legend when he returned after a four-year retirement to win the UFC middleweight belt in 2017.

It was the perfect way to end his incredible career, and he has never returned to high-level competition since. However, he left the door open in a new interview with MMA Junkie this week. During the conversation, he admitted that “he gets requests once or twice a month to fight in MMA, boxing, grappling or grappling.”

Yet instead of saying he turned them all down because he was already competing in high-level combat sports, he said it just wasn’t the right time to be involved in those opportunities. He is currently prioritizing other projects and has been dealing with a back injury recently. Still, the 44-year-old UFC great isn’t exactly against the eventual matchup in any case.

That information should perk up the MVP and Netflix offices. The fight promotion run by Jake Paul and the streaming giant is promoting a massive MMA card this weekend, headlined by an improbable dream fight between 39-year-old Ronda Rousey and 44-year-old Gina Carano. The card also features Nate Diaz, 41, and Junior dos Santos, 42.

If the event is successful, Netflix will definitely be open to another one as live sports content is a major priority for the streaming service right now. But with the UFC tightening its grip on the top talent in the sport, MVP will again have to turn to some veteran names, and St-Pierre would be a strong choice. Especially if the fight took place in Canada.

But which opponents would the MMA icon actually consider returning to fight? The two names are most meaningful. They are Anderson Silva and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Is Georges St-Pierre vs. Anderson Silva or Khabib Nurmagomedov possible now?

anderson silva
Credit: Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

A super-fight between St-Pierre and Silva is something UFC fans wanted badly in 2010 and 2011. Although it seemed like a real possibility at the time, it never happened. The Brazilian turned 51 last month, has the fight with GSP gone well, is this the best buy date? Yes, but if it was on Netflix old school fans would still watch it. Furthermore, we are in a time when their major fighting legends are fighting all the time, and fans are tuning in to them.

St-Pierre vs Nurmagomedov fight that will really intrigue fans. The Russian will turn 38 in September, so the age issue is less ridiculous than the St-Pierre and Silva matchup and more on par with what we’ll see this weekend. The UFC lightweight legend has said in the past that GSP was his late father’s favorite fighter, and he always wanted a confrontation with “Rush”.

The biggest issue in the making is whether Nurmagomedov still has a contractual relationship with the UFC. Plus, there’s also a real possibility that UFC CEO Dana White will try to jump in and steal the fight from MVP.

Either way, there’s just a crack in the door, and MVP-Netflix should be questioning whether Rousey vs. Carano is a success.

Bold Rousey vs. Carano fight card selection, including Mike Perry upset win over Nate Diaz

On Saturday night inside the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, Most Valuable Promotions and Netflix will be shaking up the mixed martial arts game with their Rousey vs. Carano event. The 11-fight card will showcase the past, present and future of the sport and will feature a star-studded main card.

In the night’s headliner, women’s MMA legends and pioneers, Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano, will face off in a dream fight that no one ever expected. Additionally, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou will be in action against one-time PFL Champion Phillip Lynn, and fan favorite brawlers Nate Diaz and Mike Perry will face off in a welterweight bout.

Ahead of Saturday’s card, we offer predictions for who will win the evening’s main card bouts.

Junior Dos Santos vs. Robellis Despaigne

rousey vs carano
Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

Junior dos Santos will go down as one of the greatest heavyweight fighters in MMA history. However, the 42-year-old has a lot of wear and tear on his body. Especially his chin. While he has won back-to-back fights at the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships, he faces a tough matchup against bronze medalist Robellis Despaigne of Cuba on Saturday.

The taekwondo master has speed and length – which he uses well. This is demonstrated during the seven-fight winning streak of the new Karate Combat Heavyweight Champion. If this were 2016, the Brazilian would get the W. But he’s nowhere near that fighter and will have a long night against Despaigne.

Francis Ngannou vs. Philip Lins

At Rousey vs. Carano, former UFC heavyweight king Ngannou returns to the cage for the second time after dethroning the MMA world leader four years ago. While the heavyweight division in MMA is quite weak at the moment, MVP found a strong opponent in “The Predator” Lince.

The former PFL star is entering the fight with a lot of confidence after four consecutive wins in the UFC. However, they were all lightweight. Ngannou will have a massive size and strength advantage. If “Monstro” can stay up and running, he could make this interesting. However, he does not possess great strength, and it seems that it will take only a short time for “The Predator” to catch his prey.

Salahdin Parnasse vs. Kenneth Cross

Saturday’s Rousey vs. Carano main card brings an intriguing battle of champions as KSW lightweight king Salahdin Parnasse faces tough-n-uff 155-pound titlist Kenneth Cross. This bout could easily be Fight of the Night as both are talented finishers.

Parnasse has 14 stoppages in 22 wins (7 knockouts and 7 submissions), while Cross has 13 finishes in 17 wins (6 knockouts and 7 submissions). Finally, Parnasse comes from a better promotion where he faces tougher competition. Look for him to approve the decision later this week.

Nate Diaz vs. Mike Perry

rousey vs carano
Credit: Sarah Stier/Getty Images for Netflix

The fight most fans are waiting for is the welterweight bout between popular brawler Diaz and Perry. The former is one of the most popular fighters in UFC history. However, the age difference in this scrap cannot be ignored.

Diaz turned 41 last month and has 34 fights to his body and chin. Perry has suffered plenty of brain trauma throughout his 22-fight career, but at age 34, he is a far better athlete than he is right now. At the same time, he brings legal power into his hands and is feeling confident having emerged as one of BKFC’s hottest talents.

Diaz is sure to get a lot of stakes, but expect an upset split-decision win for Perry after scoring a few knockdowns during the fight.

Ronda Rousey vs Gina Carano

No one expected a fight between Rousey and Carano to ever happen and there were many who did not want it to happen. But we’re getting it on Netflix, and it’s still a dream fight with historical relevance as two of the most important figures in the evolution of women’s MMA.

Both women are motivated and look to be in good shape – especially Carano. But it won’t be a display of elite athleticism as Rousey turned 39 last month and Carano turned 44. The big question is, can Rousey avoid taking some big shots to dominate Carano and throw her around?

Rousey is very durable and is the better athlete of the two at the moment. Furthermore, Carano never came close to facing a wrestler of the silver medalist judoka’s caliber. “Rowdy” should have learned from the knockouts in her previous two fights and been more cautious as she looked for takedowns and forced Carano to tap in Round 2.

Jake Paul’s shocking Canelo Alvarez fight claim raises fresh doubts after serious injury

Jake Paul has once again thrust himself into the center of the boxing spotlight after claiming he was ready to make $200 million for a fight against Canelo Alvarez. The statement comes just days after the YouTuber-turned-boxer openly questioned whether he would ever return to the ring after suffering a serious injury during his loss to Anthony Joshua.

Paul suffered a knockout loss in December and was later diagnosed with a double jaw fracture, a broken tooth and required multiple surgeries. Despite those concerns, Paul now says negotiations with Alvarez are moving forward.

The sudden change has brought renewed attention to the long-rumored Jake Paul vs. Canelo Alvarez fight, one of the biggest crossover matchups in boxing. Questions still remain about Paul’s recovery and whether this fight can realistically happen in the near future.

Jake Paul vs. Canelo Alvarez fight talks return after injury update

Jake Paul recently appeared on The Ariel Helwani Show to talk about the damage he suffered after losing to Anthony Joshua. Paul admitted that he had thought about retirement while recovering from the knockout loss.

Paul discussed his future in boxing, saying, “We’ll see what my doctors say.”

Due to the injury there is uncertainty as to whether Paul will continue to fight.

Despite this, Paul later posted a video on the Better Instagram account directly calling out Canelo Alvarez.

Paul said, “Canelo, I have $200 million for you, easy money. Jake vs. Canelo, let’s make it happen.”

He also described the potential fight as the biggest potential fight in boxing.

He said, “This is what the fans have been waiting for. This is probably the biggest fight to happen in boxing.”

The renewed talk of a Jake Paul vs. Canelo Alvarez fight gained immediate attention because of the timing. Paul recently spoke about the physical and mental impact of recovering from his injury.

Canelo Alvarez focuses on major boxing bouts

The idea of a Jake Paul vs. Canelo Alvarez fight is not new. Earlier in 2025, reports claimed that discussions between the two parties had advanced towards a possible Cinco de Mayo event. Some outlets also suggested that a deal was close to completion before negotiations ultimately failed.

Scheduling issues, disagreements on the broadcast stage, and Alvarez’s commitments to other opponents reportedly prevented the fight from happening.

Alvarez remains one of boxing’s biggest stars and continues to focus on championship level opponents. The Mexican champion has recently been linked to a possible fight against Christian Mbili later this year.

A move towards a Jake Paul vs. Canelo Alvarez fight would attract significant global attention due to the financial value of the event. Paul claimed that private discussions had already taken place.

“Canelo said his phone was off. So, we’re going to make it happen,” Paul said.

He continued to push the proposed purse amount, saying, “I have $200 million. I think that will be the next fight. Sign the contract, Canelo.”

Jake Paul’s injury concerns still cloud Canelo Alvarez’s fight plans

Despite the latest claims, there is still uncertainty about Paul’s health. Medical experts have noted that recovery from a double jaw fracture can take a long time, especially after surgery. Some reports suggest that the return to full competition may not occur until 2027.

Paul has built a reputation for organizing major boxing events and generating large paydays through crossover bouts. That history has helped draw attention to the claims for the latest Jake Paul vs. Canelo Alvarez fight.

Nevertheless, there has been no official confirmation that a contract exists or that funding has been formally secured for the fight. Álvarez also focuses on title defenses and legacy fights within professional boxing.

For now, the Jake Paul vs. Canelo Alvarez fight remains only a possibility. But Paul’s latest comments have put the matchup back at the center of the boxing conversation, despite serious injury concerns about his future.

George Kittle turns Superman for wife Claire Kittle as they fight eight-legged intruder

George Kittle may still be sidelined due to a season-ending Achilles injury, but the San Francisco 49ers star apparently isn’t ruled out for emergency home-defense snaps just yet.

Whether he’s going through rehab or going full pass-rusher on a surprise eight-footed pass rusher, Kittle continues to prove that he’s a force to be reckoned with both on the field and at home. And according to his wife Claire Kittle, the All-Pro TE is undefeated when it comes to handling home invasion situations.

You can officially add Exterminator to George Kittle’s scouting report.

The seven-time Pro Bowler jumped onto the bench to address a 4 a.m. home emergency Wednesday morning that forced him to come off the bench for an unexpected defensive snap. ESPN shared Kittle’s ex post on Instagram. matchup? Claire Kittle vs. the bathroom spider “the size of a half dollar.”

According to Kittle, Claire woke him up in a state of complete panic before handing him the rehab oblique board he was using during his Achilles recovery. The veteran TE then performed what he described as a one-play drive.

“It only took 1 try,” Kittle posted, adding that the game-winning performance earned him a “hug and kiss” before heading back to the sideline — aka bed.

The whole thing was extreme Kittle: chaotic, hilarious, and somehow still football-coded for a rehabilitation equipment cameo. It gave fans another classic glimpse of one of the NFL’s most entertaining power couples.

Kittle’s Spider takedown came the same morning the San Francisco 49ers locked down another major schedule update for 2026. San Francisco is officially set to host the Minnesota Vikings in Mexico City during Week 11.

Meanwhile, the All-Pro tight end is still recovering from a torn Achilles suffered during the Niners’ NFC Wild Card win over the Philadelphia Eagles in January. The injury immediately became one of the franchise’s biggest offseason stories. Especially when questions are still looming over his timeline regarding his comeback at the age of 32.

Still, if Kittle’s latest post proves anything, it’s that the energy in the locker room hasn’t gone anywhere. On a day dominated by discussion of schedule breakdowns and offseason, he still managed to make headlines without a single mention of a kickoff time.

All it took was Claire, a spider, and a rehab board to create a defensive weapon.

4 Lomachenko return fight options after retirement ends this week, including Inoue super-fight

This time last year, gold medal-winning boxer and pound-for-pound superstar Vasiliy Lomachenko capped off his impressive run while competing in the sweet science. The Ukrainian went out on a high note with a knockout win over George Kambosos Jr. in his last fight, and at the age of 37, it looked like his decision would hold after losing two of his last six. Well, that didn’t happen.

On Tuesday, Ring Magazine’s Mike Coppinger reported that the three-division champion intends to return to the sport this fall, and that he will not compete in a tune-up bout. He wants to jump into the deep end of the pool and is looking for a big money fight.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at four potential opponent options for Lomachenko’s next fight.

shakur stevenson

shakur stevenson
Jim Krajewski, Reno Gazette Journal via Imagen Content Services, LLC

The scrap many fight fans will be hoping for is a matchup with, arguably, the toughest puzzle in the sport at the moment, Shakur Steveson. The 28-year-old has excelled on his way to a 25-0 record and has become one of the most sought-after fighters in boxing.

If the former lightweight champion is looking for a big name and a bigger challenge to return from retirement, there is no better option at lightweight or junior welterweight.

teofimo lopez

teofimo lopez
Kirby Lee-Images Images

Teofimo Lopez became a star in the sport when he scored a stunning decision win over Lomachenko in 2020. It was a defeat the future Hall of Famer never had to avenge. Having suffered defeat against Stevenson in January, a rematch with the Ukrainian would be risky. However, a second win over “High Tech”, even at the age of 38, would one day strengthen his own HOF case.

Ending his retirement to get one back – something he has yet to do for any of his three losses – would be an interesting story as well as a great fight.

Raymond Muratalla

Lomachenko
Mark J. rebilas-imagen images

Another interesting option for Vasiliy Lomachenko’s comeback fight would be a scrap with the best fighter at lightweight not named Shakur Stevenson, Raymond Muratalla. The 29-year-old is 24-0 and holds the IBF title after defeating Andy Cruz in January.

It would be no surprise to see Lomachenko jump into title contention immediately, potentially setting up a unification bout with Stevenson early next year.

Naoya Inoue

Naoya Inoue
Darren Yamashita-Imagen Images

Although it is unlikely, fight fans would love to see a dream fight between Vasiliy Lomachenko and current pound-for-pound star Naoya Inoue. After moving to 33-0 with a decision win over Junto Nakatani this month, there’s really not much else to do around that weight class for the unified junior featherweight king.

At the age of 33, when he is at the peak of his powers, he has to look for bigger opportunities to make money. Would the 122-pound star be willing to move up to 130, and would Lomachenko be willing to move down to make the fight? This is something both men should consider.

Khamzat Chimaev’s next fight plans revealed and it’s probably not what you’d expect

It certainly didn’t take long for Khamzat Chimaev to change his mind on what to do next after his defeat on Saturday night at UFC 328.

This weekend, Chimaev enters the first defense of his middleweight title as a heavy favorite against former champion Sean Strickland. Yet it didn’t take long to understand why the American was a popular upset pick, as he was capable of scoring takedowns and turning a lot of the fight into a standup war.

“Borz” was unable to dominate his wrestling, and after five tough rounds, he was defeated and lost his title by split decision. Prior to the bout, reports revealed that Chimaev had lost approximately 40 pounds, and he looked to be in poor shape during Friday’s weigh-in. Barely making the 185 pound limit.

He mentioned before the fight that he would like to move up to 205 pounds and reportedly told UFC CEO Dana White afterward that his middleweight move was complete. Well, it looks like the decision has been completely reversed.

Khamzat Chimaev now wants a rematch with Shawn Strickland

Khamzat Chimaev
John Jones-Imagen Images

His team told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, “The rematch with Sean Strickland is the only fight Khamzat wants. He’s passionate about it.” “This is the only fight he’ll accept right now.”

This is a stunning 180 made by the former champion after all the evidence and rumors that he was moving up to light heavyweight. However, Chimaev noted that due to the excitement leading up to Saturday’s UFC 328 main event, he was set to receive the biggest payout of his career.

Additionally, there are many MMA experts who thought Chimaev did enough to earn the victory on Saturday night. Maybe the idea of better weight loss, another big payday and a good chance for revenge has finally entered the 32-year-old’s mind.

Luis Enrique could snatch transfer from Arsenal’s clutches – fight for big deal

Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique could play a key role in snatching Julian Alvarez armory in this summer.

AS reports that the Spanish coach He could play a role in denying Arsenal the big transfer they want from Atletico Madrid.

PSG denies Arsenal

The newspaper states that PSG will not accelerate any transfer moves until their season is over. Since the Champions League final is still to be played, his focus is on the pitch.

However, the first names to strengthen the team are already on the list. And Julian Álvarez is one who could be one of the main protagonists of the summer market. The Argentinian striker is a target for PSG.

In fact, that is a ‘specific request’ from Luis Enrique, who has always been a fan of the striker. They tried to sign him for PSG two years ago. Álvarez refused this and moved to Atlético Madrid instead.

Now sources close to the 26-year-old are reporting that a summer transfer is possible. This has aroused great interest from European clubs.

Arsenal and Barcelona have also expressed interest in acquiring his services. But the presence of Luis Enrique in the fight could tip the scales in favor of PSG.

The Spaniard’s playing style and the excellent work he has done in Paris are factors that could ‘overwhelm’ for the striker. PSG see him as the ideal player, especially if Goncalo Ramos goes as expected.

Arsenal need to move forward now

Thus, Arsenal may need to make a move. For months now reports have been linking them with a possible move for the Argentina star.

But with Enrique’s backing, PSG may be hard to beat ahead of his signing. The French giants can easily outperform Arsenal when it comes to financial matters.

Perhaps a big performance and Arsenal’s victory in the Champions League final could help the Gunners swing the argument in their favor.

Benavidez ‘not smart’ if he doesn’t fight Usyk next

Boxing icon Roy Jones Jr believes David Benavidez may have missed a golden career opportunity if he did not make heavyweight king Oleksandr Usyk his next opponent.

Last week, “The Mexican Monster” took his record to 32-0 with a sixth-round knockout of WBA and WBO cruiserweight champion Gilberto Ramirez. This victory was a very successful debut for Benavidez in a new weight class. This also means that he is now a three-division world champion.

The 29-year-old’s status in the game has never been higher, and he can now make his own decisions. Because he’s no longer a hunter, he’s a big-money star that other fighters are hunting. That’s why former four-division titlist Jones Jr. believes Benavidez should change divisions again, this time making the move to heavyweight.

Roy Jones: Benavidez vs. Usyk ‘one of the biggest fights of this decade’

in a new version of sports hall Podcast with fellow boxing great Andre Ward, Jones Jr. claimed that a super fight between Benavidez and Usyk would be “one of the biggest fights of this decade.” He believes Benavidez should take advantage of the opportunity and not get caught up in other fights.

“It wouldn’t be wise for David Benavidez to give Jay Opetia a chance right now because he’s hot,” Jones Jr. said.

The boxing legend explained that with the value of his name as strong as ever, Benavidez will have to seize the biggest money-making opportunities. Especially since a long-expected clash with Canelo Alvarez has eluded him.

“You can always come back and fight Opetaiya if you want. If you lost to Usyk, the Opetaiya fight is still there. If you lost to Opetaiya, the Usyk fight is over. So be smart about this thing,” he said.

There has been speculation about a Benavidez vs. Usyk bout in 2026. However, as boxing fans know, it is always difficult to get a matchup of that magnitude. Luckily, both men are very game fighters and are ready for big challenges. Which gives it a better chance of becoming a reality.

4 thoughts on David Benavidez’s next fight after knockout win over Gilberto Ramirez, including Canelo

In his debut at 200 pounds, David Benavidez challenges unified cruiserweight champion Gilberto Ramirez this Saturday. The “Mexican Monster” dominated early and defeated Ramirez with very fast hands. In the fourth round, Benavidez (32-0, 26 KOs) landed a five-punch combination that dropped the defending champion to one knee.

The challenger continued to punish Ramirez with left hooks and right hands in the sixth round, as he was knocked down for the second time. However, “Zardo” failed to beat the referee’s count, and Benavidez scored a TKO victory to become the new WBA (Super) and WBO cruiserweight champion.

Following his win, the three-division champion called out several big names including Canelo Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol. We also consider other names that would be ideal matchups for Benavidez’s next opponent.

Jai Opetaia

There’s no doubt how big a fight with Jay Opetaia would be for the division. Even Benavidez expressed interest in the possibility when asked about fellow undefeated cruiserweights. Except that the former 200-pound IBF and Ring Magazine titleholder signed with Zuffa Boxing in January. He defeated Brandon Glanton by unanimous decision in March to claim the inaugural Zuffa Boxing cruiserweight title.

With two big punchers facing off, can a crossover promotion make the fight a success?

artur beterbiev

The native of Dagestan, Russia has not fought since a unanimous decision loss to Bivol in February 2025, which was a rematch for the undisputed light heavyweight championship. Benavidez did not rule out a return to 175 pounds, where he also holds the WBC title. Of Beterbiev’s 21 wins, only one has gone the full distance. Due to his brute power, Beterbiev will certainly give the WBC light heavyweight champion a tough test.

A victory over the former 175-pound undisputed champion would certainly add a notable name to Benavidez’s resume.

Dmitry Bivol

The WBA (Super), IBF, WBO and Ring Magazine light heavyweight champion is set to defend his title against mandatory challenger Michael Eifert on May 30. Benavidez referred to Bivol as “No. 1 on his hit list”, and it’s no surprise. Since his light heavyweight debut in 2024, Benavidez has been clear about his desire to challenge for the undisputed championship. There’s no doubt this is the biggest fight at 175 pounds.

canelo alvarez

Boxing: Canelo vs. Golovkin III
joe camporial-imagen images

The Mexican icon has been targeted by Benavidez for years. While Alvarez never demonstrated a mutual desire in a potential fight, Benavidez has not forgotten the former four-division titleholder. After the unified cruiserweight champion once again called out “Canelo” in front of a cheering crowd last Saturday, it seems the fans haven’t forgotten either. Alvarez last fought at 175 pounds in May 2022, where he lost a unanimous decision to Bivol for the WBA (Super) light heavyweight title.

If Benavidez captures the undisputed Light Heavyweight Championship, will Alvarez shift gears?

5 thoughts on Jack Della Maddalena’s next fight after bad loss at UFC Perth, including Leon Edwards

On Saturday at UFC Perth, Jack Della Maddalena fell further down the UFC welterweight mountain after a heavy defeat to heavy-hitter Carlos Prates.

The Brazilian used his length and speed to fire powerful, accurate shots through the Australian guards. Outside of a round 1 takedown, Della Maddalena’s grappling was ineffective. Then in round 3, Prates landed some dangerous elbows, before a big leg kick took Della Maddalena down and lost by TKO at 3:17 of the third round.

Although this setback has pushed Dela Maddalena far out of the title picture, she is still a former UFC champion with a strong resume. Therefore, it is certain that he will face a big challenge in his next match. With that in mind, let’s look at four next battle options for JDM.

New UFC welterweight rankings: Carlos Prates defeats JDM in UFC Perth main event

Joaquin Buckley vs. Shawn Brady Winner

joaquin buckley
Nathan Ray Siebeck-Imagen Images

Next week, top 10 welterweights Joaquin Buckley and Sean Brady will face off on the main card of UFC 328. Any one of these former titles would be a suitable next fight for the list. A fierce battle between JDM and Buckley has the potential to be Fight of the Year. While a showdown with Brady could show once and for all that the 29-year-old’s victory over elite wrestler Belal Muhammad last year was no fluke.

Kamru Usman

cameron osman
Brett Davis-Imagen Images

After three consecutive losses, welterweight veteran Kamaru Usman scored an impressive victory against Joaquin Buckley last June. He has been on the sidelines since then as he next looks for a title fight against Islam Makhachev. This does not seem possible.

The future Hall of Famer wants fights that interest him. A fight between the two former champs could certainly bring Usman back into the Octagon in the autumn.

leon edwards

Peter van den Bergh-Imagen Images

Fellow former 170-pound champion Leon Edwards is in a tough situation. After looking like a future welterweight legend in late 2023, the Englishman has lost three in a row, the last two coming at the hands of Brady and Prates. He desperately needs to win.

Yet his name value will not allow him to keep pace with rivals outside the top 10. This is why the plan could be for both Edwards vs. JDM. Additionally, if the bout was a Fight Night headliner in England, it could be the UFC’s last chance to squeeze any remaining name value out of Edwards.

gabriel bonfim

gabriel bonfim
Ron Chenoy-Image Images

After a surprise defeat to Nicolas Dalby at the end of 2023, Gabriel Bonfim has caught fire. He has won four in a row, including a victory over division great Stephen Thompson last year. If he can defeat former champion Belal Muhammad in June, he deserves the next top-five caliber opponent, and Jack Della Maddalena could be his huckleberry.

Carlos Pratt praises next fight options after destroying JDM at UFC Perth, including Kamaru Usman

Carlos Prates solidified his place as a legitimate welterweight title contender at UFC Perth on Saturday. In the biggest fight of his career, the Brazilian took on former 170-pound champion Jack Della Maddalena in a main event matchup in JDM’s home nation and it didn’t take long to see who was the better fighter.

Prats used his length and speed to deliver hard, accurate shots through his enemy’s guard. Although he gave up a takedown in Round 1 and laughed at the fact that JDM resorted to grappling to defeat him, he completely shut down his efforts the rest of the fight.

He landed a nasty leg kick at the end of round 2 which was the beginning of the end for the former champion. Then in round 3, he landed some dangerous elbows, before another leg kick dropped Della Maddalena again and secured the victory by TKO for Prates at 3:17 of the third round.

Although Carlos Prates probably won’t get a title fight in his comeback, he’s sure to get another big prize later this year. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the next four fight options for the welterweight star.

Kamru Usman

cameron osman
Brett Davis-Imagen Images

After three consecutive losses, welterweight veteran Kamaru Usman scored an impressive victory against Joaquin Buckley last June. He has been on the sidelines since then as he next looks for a title fight against Islam Makhachev. This does not seem possible.

While Prates is dangerous, this is a good matchup for Usman, and defeating him could secure the title fight he wants. For the Brazilian, it will also be a chance to add a third former champion to his hit list and secure a title fight this year.

Belal Muhammad (if he beats Gabriel Bonfim)

belal muhammad
Eric Bolte-Imagen Images

Former champion Belal Muhammad will have a chance to get back on his winning streak and end a two-fight losing streak against fast-rising star Gabriel Bonfim next month. If he can get his first win since July 2024, it would mean a clash with Prats in the autumn.

It will be a chance for the American to prove he can still hang with the young contenders in the top five, and for Prats, it will be the toughest test of his takedown defense yet.

ian machado gary

ian machado gary
Per Haljestam-Imagen Images

If Prates wants to prove he’s worthy of a title fight soon, avenging his only loss in the UFC – a blowout to Ian Machado Garry in April 2025 – should be an option. Both have possibly been blocked from a title fight by Michael Morales. So the No. 1 contenders facing off in a rematch could easily headline another Fight Night card. Especially if it’s in Brazil.

The big question is, will Gary be willing to risk another clash with Prats? This will be a tough sell. Maybe the UFC could make it part of a four-man title tournament?

Islam Makhachev

Islam Makhachev
Ed Mulholland-Imagen Images

Will Prats next jump into a title shot with new champ Makhachev? Probably not. But fight booking is a strange thing, especially when injuries or priorities come into play. There’s no doubt that the champ is simply looking for a favorable matchup because he’s not getting the fight he really wants.

While Prats deserves respect, the Russian may try to steal his momentum and show that there are many levels to grapple with in a matchup in which he should perform well and receive a big check for it.

Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua fight moves closer to reality as talks reach final stage

The long-awaited Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight is closer than ever after years of failed attempts. Negotiations have now reached the final stages, according to promoter Eddie Hearn, who confirmed on IFL TV that both sides are working out the final details of a two-fight agreement.

The deal will see Anthony Joshua return to the ring in July and face Tyson Fury later in the year. This update marks a major change after more than a decade of missed opportunities. The contracts have not yet been signed, but the structure of the deal is now clear. For fans, a Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight is no longer a distant dream. Now it’s close to being official.

Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight plans take shape

The Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight plan involves two fights under one agreement. Hearn confirmed that Joshua will take part in a warm-up fight in July before facing Fury, with November expected to be the target date for the main event.

“We will have a contract, and we haven’t signed a contract yet, but we are negotiating the final points in an agreement to get back in the ring in July and [then] “Fight Tyson Fury.”

The timeline follows the recent activity of both fighters. Fury returned on 11 April after a 16-month absence, defeating Arslanbek Makhmudov in Manchester. After the win, Fury called out Joshua.

Joshua has been active. He stopped Jake Paul shortly before a personal tragedy in Nigeria in December. Despite that condition, he quickly returned to training and has been preparing for his next fight ever since.

Hearn also talked about the risks surrounding the July fight. “The good news is: If we take a [warm-up] Fight like this, we’ve signed on to fight Tyson Fury, and all you have to do is bite your nails for 36 minutes or less in July, and you’ll get the fight, if not the fight of the century – of all time.

Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua fight backed by Saudi deal

The Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight is expected to be funded by Saudi boxing consultant Turki Alalshikh. Once the agreement is signed, control of the event will pass to Saudi organisers.

“Once we sign up for that deal, it is handed over to Saudi consultant Turki Alalshaikh for staging. We will promote for July; I think the November fight or whatever, will be promoted by the Saudi company Cela.”

“AJ and I, Tyson Fury, we will have a contract [Alalshikh] Basically financing the fight. It depends on where he is.”

There is still hope that the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight could take place in the United Kingdom. Hearn said the goal was to present a major event to the fans and suggested the venue would match the scale of the fight.

Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight affected by Usyk talks

The Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight has also been shaped with input from Oleksandr Usyk. Hearn confirmed that Usyk was involved in discussions regarding Joshua’s next steps.

“I’m sure he won’t mind me saying that, [a lot of this has come from Oleksandr Usyk]. He was part of these conversations, and the conversations were exactly like this: ‘He’s fighting back.'”

Usyk’s role helped define the plan for Joshua to take the fight in July before facing Fury. The timing also falls in line with Fury’s recent return and the current activity in the division.

Fury has not fought regularly in recent years and has talked about retirement. Meanwhile, Joshua continues to train and prepare for a comeback that could lead directly to the biggest fight of his career.

The Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight is unsigned, but negotiations are now in the final stages. If the contracts have been completed, the schedule is already in place. July will see Joshua’s return and November could finally deliver the heavyweight bout that has been talked about for years.

Is Ilya Topuria now ready to fight the battle he has long resisted?

Ilya Topuria has changed his position on a possible fight with Arman Zarukyan. The lightweight champion had previously stated that he would vacate his belt rather than face the Armenian contender, citing a lack of confidence that Tsarukyan would actually be able to make it to the octagon.

According to Topuria, that stance has now changed ariel helwani show That he is ready to fight whoever is put in front of him on June 14 at UFC White House.

Topuria said, “If they call me tomorrow and tell me Justin is injured and I have to fight Arman, I’ll fight Arman, no problem.” “If they call me and tell me that Armaan is injured and I have to fight Ariel, then I will fight Ariel, no problem. I can go anywhere, anytime, I am ready.”

Ilya Topuria Record: 17-0 (7 knockouts, 8 submissions)

The context behind this change is Tsarukyan’s ongoing campaign to replace Justin Gaethje as Topuria’s opponent on the card. Tsarukyan has publicly advised Gaethje to step back so he can intervene, and has stated his intention to be ready for the June 14 date. A replacement fight seems unlikely in that scenario even if Gaethje pulls out due to Topuria’s past resistance, but his latest comments have removed that hurdle.

The willingness to take the fight doesn’t mean Topuria has developed any new respect for Tsarukyan. During an appearance on the same Helwani show, he made his opinion about the contender very clear.

“He’s a kid. His mentality, he’s stupid,” he said. “Everything I’ve seen about him on the internet is embarrassing. F— Arman, who cares about him? He’s not at my level. If we meet on the road, I’ll break his jaw in the first round.”

With Paddy Pimblett currently out of the lightweight title picture, Topuria vs. Tsarukyan is widely considered the most compelling matchup available in the division. Whether it takes place at the White House or at a future date depends on Gaethje’s health, but Topuria’s updated status means the fight now has a real path to happening sooner rather than later.

Manchester United and Manchester City fight for the tackling-machine

Manchester United And Manchester City Now Maxi Araujo is stepping into the race, but the story has been going on for a while.

The Sporting CP player has been one of the standout performers among Portuguese clubs in this season’s Champions League. Despite Sporting’s exit at the quarter-final stage, his numbers and impact have kept him firmly in the headlines.

Statistically, Araújo has recorded 43 tackles in the competition – the most in this year’s Champions League. He also ranks among the leaders of duels won with 77, placing him behind names like Lamin Yamal and Giuliano Simeone.

These figures help explain why Premier League interest emerged in the first place. As we reportedTottenham Hotspur and Chelsea were early proponents, making contact with the player’s representatives and sending scouts to keep an eye on him in Lisbon and internationally.

Now, the situation is evolving.

Manchester club moved into position

Maxi Araujo is now attracting the attention of both Manchester United and Manchester City.

according to to ballTwo Manchester clubs are currently leading English interest and are actively assessing what it takes to sign him this summer.

we’ve covered The initial approach from Manchester United dates back to about a month ago, but Manchester City’s presence adds some spice to the conversation.

Surveillance and initial contact began with tottenham and chelsea Now entering a phase where big financial players are preparing for possible moves.

performance is increasing demand

Maxi Araujo’s comprehensive season boosts Champions League impact.

He has played 37 matches in all competitions, starting 33 of them, scoring six goals and four assists. In Europe, he contributed two goals and one assist, often in high-intensity matches. He was Sporting’s standout performer in the quarter-finals Match against Arsenal at the Emirates.

Also, their strategic profile remains a major attraction. He has played mainly as a left-back this season, but his ability to operate as a wing-back or winger gives clubs many options.

That versatility, combined with his defensive output, makes him a strong fit for teams that rely on dynamic wide players.

The state of the game and the reality of the market

maxi araujo

Sporting are not actively looking to sell. In fact, They’re trying to give him a raise To stay a little longer. But they understand the pressure. They also believe that strong offers can turn the situation around quickly.

He is under contract until 2029 and has an €80m (£69m) release clause. However, reports suggest Sporting will consider offers in the €40m-€50m (£34.5m-£43m) range.

This makes it an attainable – and welcome – entry point for clubs such as Manchester United and Manchester City.

what happens next

Maxi Araujo is now at the center of an escalating transfer battle. The involvement of Manchester United and Manchester City raises the stakes, while Tottenham and Chelsea remain part of the picture after their initial moves.

With strong performance, elite level data and growing demand, the next steps will depend on which club decides to act first.

Games may be trying to hold their own, but the market is starting to revolve around them.

David Benavidez calls out Canelo Alvarez again as super fight hopes fade

It’s the same story, this time louder. David Benavidez is not holding back, and his latest comments aimed at Canelo Alvarez are easily his most direct to date. In a recent interview, the undefeated contender didn’t dance around it. He questioned Canelo’s desire to fight him and made it clear that he still viewed that matchup as unfinished business.

“He’s scared, he has no balls. That’s the thing. I give Canelo total respect… but I was the #1 contender in two weight classes for a long time.”

That tension has been building for years. Benavidez, now 30-0 with 24 knockouts, has consistently topped the super middleweight division. At one point, he held the WBC interim title and sat as a mandatory challenger, yet the fight never came to fruition.

“He’s shown he doesn’t want to fight me. It’s a real shame because it’s a fight everyone wants to see.”

David Benavidez vs. Canelo Alvarez: A fight that never came together

On paper this was the fight. Two Mexican stars. Same division. High stakes. Huge interest from fans.

But boxing rarely goes according to script.

Canelo Alvarez, now 35, has built his career around big names and calculated moves. He became a four-division world champion and one of the biggest pay-per-view draws in the sport. Nevertheless, Benavidez believes that despite earning his position he was constantly ignored.

The situation changed even further last year after Canelo lost his undisputed super middleweight title to Terence Crawford. That loss changed the division and, in some ways, changed the urgency of the Benavidez fight.

Now, with Canelo Alvarez planning a comeback later this year and reportedly knocking out both Benavidez and Dmitry Bivol, that long-awaited clash is looking less likely than ever.

Benavidez moves forward but doesn’t let go

This is where things get interesting. Benavidez isn’t waiting any longer, calling out Canelo Alvarez still.

He is going up.

The 28-year-old is set to face Gilberto Ramirez at cruiserweight on May 2, a serious step up to a heavier and more dangerous division. It’s not just a fight to stay busy, either. Ramirez holds the major titles, and a win would immediately legitimize Benavidez at 200 pounds.

Benavidez even claimed that he tried to make the Canelo fight a financial success, saying that he had offered $150 million which went nowhere. Whether those numbers hold up or not, it shows just how far he was willing to go to secure the fight.

Still the tone did not change.

“I have 100% confidence in myself and my skills. If he says he’s the baddest man on the planet, why not give the fans what they want to see?”

the window might be closing

At this point, it seems like one of those feuds that remains more in debate than reality.

Benavidez is moving to a different weight class. Canelo Alvarez is choosing his path carefully. The time that once made this fight right is beginning to slip away.

Promoters know this. The fans definitely feel it.

And if Benavidez wins at cruiserweight, the conversation could completely change. He will no longer pursue Canelo. He might be making something new.

Still, this rivalry won’t be completely over until both fighters battle it out. Too much history. Too much conversation. And honestly, a lot of people still want to see it happen.

Lawrence Okolie’s Paris fight in doubt after doping test issue comes to light

British heavyweight boxer Lawrence Okolie faces new uncertainty days before his scheduled fight in Paris after receiving an adverse anti-doping result. The 33-year-old was set to headline a major card promoted by Queensberry Promotions against France’s Tony Yoka on Saturday, April 25.

The bout was planned as a 12-round contest at the Adidas Arena and drew intense interest due to the condition of both fighters. Okolie, a former world champion at cruiserweight and bridgerweight, moved up to heavyweight and remained undefeated in three bouts at the new weight.

The latest developments have cast doubt over the fight, with officials yet to confirm whether the event will go ahead as planned.

The situation came to light after the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association informed the promoters about adverse analytical findings from a test conducted before the fight. Queensberry Promotions confirmed the update in an official statement, saying Okolie had “come back with an adverse finding following an anti-doping test conducted before the show in Paris this Saturday.” The company said it would provide more information about the status of the fight “in due course.”

Okolie responded publicly by linking the result to medical treatment during training. “Before anyone starts imagining the worst, after my bicep injury last year, I suffered an elbow injury on the same arm during this camp. I got it treated, and now here we are. A sense of hope really prevails. I will, of course, cooperate fully with all authorities concerned, and I am confident that any investigation will clear my name.”

Under anti-doping rules, Okolie can request testing of his B-sample. A formal process will be followed to determine the outcome of the case.

Situation of fight not clear due to postponement of Paris event

The timing of the issue has thrown the Paris program into uncertainty. Promoters, broadcasters, and officials have not yet confirmed whether the fight between Lawrence Okolie and Tony Yoka will go ahead, be postponed, or replaced.

Okolie entered the bout coming off three wins since moving up to heavyweight, including a stoppage win over Ebenezer Tetteh in December. The fight against Yoka was expected to be an important step in his run at the new weight.

This match holds equal importance for Yoka. Fighting at home, the Olympic gold medalist had a chance to achieve a big result in front of the French crowd. Due to the current situation, his next step is also uncertain.

If an adverse result is confirmed after further testing, disciplinary action may be taken under anti-doping rules. Until then, the case will remain under review and the outcome of the Paris card is still pending.

Newcastle United moving towards more viable Brazil option – easier to fight Chelsea than Spain

Gremio

chelsea And newcastle united Both are back in the picture for Gabriel Make, with the latest developments in Brazil pointing towards a possible summer sale of the Grêmio teenager.

New pressure is building around summer sales

The latest information from Brazil indicates that Gabriel Make is expected to be sold in the middle of the year.

according to espn brazilGrêmio are attempting to renew his contract, which runs until August 2027, but negotiations have not progressed as planned. This uncertainty is pushing clubs towards transfers, specifically to avoid a scenario where the player gains more control over his future.

Now a clear assessment has been set, With best tune after latest update. The Brazilian side want between €15m and €20m (£12.9m-£17.2m) and will not negotiate below that range.

But all this confirms a change. Make Now has actively marketed properties for summer sale. Of course, local fans are not happy about this, as they think Grêmio could sell him for “two or three times that figure” if they keep him until at least 2027.

Newcastle United’s angle increases

Newcastle United’s presence in this story is becoming more relevant.

The Premier League side are and have been exploring the South American market Linked to Eduardo Conceição from Palmeiras. However, competition for that deal has become quite intense, with clubs such as manchester city and barcelona Involved.

This leaves Newcastle a little behind in that particular race. As a result, Gabriel Make emerges as a more attainable and realistic target within a similar profile bracket.

Additionally, Chelsea have made inquiries for Make as part of this evolving situation. His interest is not newBut now times are different. They are again looking at a player who is close to moving forward and comes with clear financial parameters.

The context behind the growing interest

Earlier in its development, the make had already attracted concrete offers from Europe. As we coveredMainly due to time and player preference, those moves did not come to fruition.

Now, the scenario is different. He will turn 18 in April, removing a significant barrier to transfer. Additionally, Gremio’s financial context and contract situation are aligning towards a sale.

The result is a more urgent and open market. Chelsea already know the player well and are gathering information. Newcastle, meanwhile, may see the make as a more viable route after failures elsewhere in South America.

With the price defined and the timeline clear, the coming months are likely to determine whether any clubs turn interest into a formal move.

Ben Whittaker ended the fight at Liverpool too early, now big questions are being raised

British light-heavyweight Ben Whittaker scored a quick win by stopping Brian Suarez in the opening round at the M&S Bank Arena on April 18, 2026. The contest lasted only two minutes and 20 seconds, as Whittaker improved his record to 11–0–1 with eight knockouts.

The fight was made at short notice after Callum Smith withdrew from the planned fight due to injury. Despite the late change, Whittaker stepped into the main event and seized the moment without any delay. The quick finish marked his second consecutive first-round stoppage and drew a strong reaction from the crowd in Liverpool.

Ben Whittaker stops Brian Suarez in the opening round

Whittaker started the fight at a fast pace and quickly took control. He used his jab to create space and set up his shots. Within moments, he landed a clean overhand right that dropped Suárez to the canvas. The impact was obvious, and referee Howard Foster immediately stepped in to stop the contest.

The stoppage gave Whittaker another quick win after his previous first round finish against Benjamin Gavazzi. The result extended his unbeaten streak and added to his growing record in the light-heavyweight division.

After the fight, Whittaker talked about his progress and confidence. “For me, they can all call me out. They’re calling me out for a reason. The more I get in this ring, the more experience I get, the more comfortable I get, it’s dangerous for them.”

The performance showed his ability to control and end the fight quickly without the need for additional rounds. The early finish also meant that he suffered little loss and remained active as he progressed in his career.

Eddie Hearn confirms US debut as he outlines next steps

Promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed Whittaker’s next move immediately after the fight. Speaking on DAZN, he said the British fighter will make his American debut on June 27 at the Barclays Center.

The fight will take place on the undercard of the bout between Jaron Ennis and Xander Zayas. The event is expected to give Whittaker exposure to a new market as he continues to raise his profile.

“We know exactly what we’re doing. Next, he’s going where he needs to be, he’s going where all the superstars go and love to walk in front of the bright lights – New York, he’s coming.”

Eddie Hearn also shared plans ahead of the US debut in an interview. He said Whittaker is expected to return to headline a major fight in Birmingham later this year. He said a final eliminator for the world title could be part of that plan.

“Jaron Ennis – 175-pounder in.”

The win in Liverpool and confirmation of the US date marks the next step in Whittaker’s career as he continues to move up the light-heavyweight ranks.

Leeds United ‘genuine interest’ in €30-40 million arrival – Everton transfer fight possible

leeds united And everton VfL are pursuing Wolfsburg’s Mohamed Amoura ahead of the summer.

The Whites tried to sign the striker in the winter market and Sport Witness broadcast news Interest from Leeds United in January.

It is unclear why Daniel Farke’s team could not complete the operation and are still keen on the striker. Everton have now joined the Elland Road club in the transfer chase.

The Bundesliga side had initially signed the 25-year-old on loan from Royal Union Saint-Gillois until July 2024. He scored 10 goals and 12 assists in his first season, convincing him to make his stay permanent.

This season, Amoura has scored eight goals and provided three assists in 27 matches. His Bundesliga statistics are as follows:

  • Total minutes: 1,782
  • Minutes per game: 69

White has not forgotten about his January target and now faces competition from Everton.

is according to TeamWho revealed that Leeds United had shown ‘genuine interest’ in January and still retain the deal ahead of the summer window.

David Moyes’s side are also interested and that’s all the newspaper has to say about the Toffees.

VfL Wolfsburg rejected Benfica’s €28m bid for Mohamed Amoura in the last window and are hoping to collect €40m. The Algeria international is now thought to be worth around €30m.

L’Equipe claims the German club are ‘ready to discuss’ his sale after this season.

In short, the front man is expected to change clubs and Leeds United and Everton are among the suitors. There is no mention of his preference in these two clubs.

Our Opinion: Price may fall further

Mohamed Amoura’s contract is until 2029, and transfer market He is worth €27 million. VfL Wolfsburg is now 17th in the table, four points behind 16th-place FC St. Pauli.

There are 18 clubs in the Bundesliga and the bottom two teams will be relegated to the second division. As things stand, Wolfsburg are in danger of relegation.

If this happens then its price is likely to fall further. Leeds United, Everton or any other club could take advantage of this and sign Amoura for less than €30m.

Andy Ruiz Jr questions Anthony Joshua fight as uncertainty grows over trilogy

Andy Ruiz Jr has renewed calls for a third fight with Anthony Joshua, saying their rivalry is still incomplete six years after their first meeting. The former unified heavyweight champion recently spoke in an interview reflecting on his two bouts in 2019. Ruiz, now 35-2-1 with 22 knockouts, said both men changed after those bouts and he believes a trilogy would settle the score.

Their first clash ended in a major upset, while the rematch saw Joshua regain his title. Ruiz said he acknowledged his role in the second outcome but insisted that the third fight would see a different outcome if the two fighters met again at their best.

Andy Ruiz demands a trilogy with Anthony Joshua

Ruiz clarified his position while discussing his rivalry with Anthony Joshua on Casino.org. “I think there should be a trilogy with ‘AJ.’ “His life changed when we fought, and my life changed when we fought. I beat him; he is the one who beat me [in the rematch] Because I let him. I let him beat me in the second fight because I was stupid; I should have taken that fight more seriously.”

He said he is not trying to pressure Joshua into a fight. “I’m not going to go out there and force him or push him. But I think it will be a good fight for both of us to come back. But I will definitely beat him 100 percent.” Ruiz said he wants the fight to happen at the right time.

Revisiting the battles of 2019

The rivalry began in June 2019 at Madison Square Garden. Ruiz entered as a late replacement and knocked down Joshua several times before stopping him in the seventh round. The result gave Ruiz the heavyweight title and marked one of the biggest upsets in boxing.

They met again in Saudi Arabia in December 2019. Joshua used a different approach, controlling the 12-round fight to win by decision and regain his belt. Ruiz later admitted that he was in no shape for that fight. “I weighed about 300 pounds, so I was out of shape, and yet I lasted 12 rounds. So, I think when people saw the fight they didn’t see the best in me.”

Ruiz said he wanted another chance to improve on that performance. “I want to redeem myself. I gave my rematch.”

Ruiz reflects on discipline and Joshua’s form

Ruiz said discipline has been important to furthering his career. “Right now, I think patience is key, and I just have to stay motivated and stay disciplined. If you’re not disciplined, shit’s going to happen. And that’s what I wasn’t with AJ.”

Since the rematch, Ruiz has wins against Chris Arreola and Luis Ortiz and a draw with Jarrell Miller. Meanwhile, Anthony Joshua has suffered setbacks, including defeats to Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois. Ruiz said fighters should not overlook Joshua.

“I think a lot of fighters look at [Joshua’s] The past and the things he’s been through and the losses he’s suffered, but every warrior can save himself. Anyone can come back stronger.” He also told about Joshua’s style. “Sometimes, when he’s fighting, I think he’s too cautious… I think his instincts are what let him down sometimes.”

Ruiz said he will remain patient while waiting for a possible third fight. “I hope it’s good, so we can do a trilogy.”

Former UFC star suggests Nate Diaz is lying about why Conor McGregor trilogy fight fell through

Matt Brown isn’t convinced by Nate Diaz’s public explanation for declining a UFC return in favor of fighting Mike Perry on the May 16 Netflix card headlined by Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano. Speaking on The Fighter vs. The Writer, Brown argued that the Netflix deal certainly paid more than what the UFC was offering and that Diaz’s decision does not hold up to scrutiny as a matter of principle.

The situation began when UFC CEO Dana White revealed that the promotion was in talks to bring Diaz back, but he believed that Most Valuable Promotions had made him an offer he could not refuse. Diaz publicly hit back, claiming that the UFC had actually offered him more money for a trilogy fight against Conor McGregor and that he turned it down because he had no interest in facing McGregor on his “last leg” after being out of action for five years. Brown knows Diaz well enough to know that he respects the framing but does not accept it at face value.

“Money talks,” Brown said. “He’s making more money with this Netflix fight than he is with the UFC. That’s why he’s not fighting Conor in the UFC. I lean toward believing Dana on this. He got an offer he couldn’t refuse. Now, with the way the contract is structured, with how Nate is spinning it, there might be something going on a few layers down behind the scenes that we don’t know about yet. But there’s no way he’s making more money. Not earning.

“I don’t believe for a moment that he’s not making more money with this Netflix deal, although whatever happens, he ends up with more money in his bank account from this fight than the UFC, or he doesn’t take the fight. He’s going to pick the highest bidder. I don’t think that’s unique to Nate Diaz, but I think he understands that this is a prize fight. He’s fighting for the money. He’s going to take the highest pay. Is.”

Nate Diaz’s MVP deal

nate diaz
Gary A. Vasquez-Imagen Images

Brown’s broader theory is that Diaz’s deal with MVP could be tied to fewer terms than UFC returns, and the contract structure could be as important a factor as the upfront money.

“There’s either something more to it, like potentially he didn’t want to sign another contract with the UFC or something along those lines,” Brown said. “When they say there was an offer he couldn’t refuse, maybe it wasn’t just the money. Maybe there was something else going on behind the scenes with him. When he says they offered him more money, up front, they offered him more money – is there something going on through the back door?

“It doesn’t make sense to me that he would simply accept a lower salary for what would probably be an uphill battle for him. There’s something where the math is not adding up. There are some things going on behind the scenes, behind closed doors, that we don’t know about.”

Carlos Ulberg’s next fight options after UFC 327, including Magomed Ankalaev

The main event of UFC 327 had a shocking result on Saturday, as Carlos Ulberg defeated Jiri Prochazka for the vacant UFC light heavyweight title. In the early rounds, Ulberg injured his right knee and began having trouble standing.

“BJP” could not take advantage of the opportunity. Instead, Ulberg took advantage of a big left hook that dropped Prochazka, then finished him off with strikes on the ground and became the new UFC Light Heavyweight Champion.

It’s unclear how serious Ulberg’s injury is or how long it might take him to return to the Octagon. However, there are plenty of interesting fights in the division. As we wait for more information regarding the injury, we’re looking at three potential opponents in “Black Jag’s” first UFC light heavyweight title defense.

Magomed Ankalev

MMA: UFC 320 - Ankalaev vs. Pereira

The native of Dagestan, Russia briefly held the 205-pound championship after defeating then-UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira by unanimous decision at UFC 313 in March 2025. However, they met for a rematch last October at UFC 320, which had a completely different outcome.

Magomed Ankalev has been clear about his desire for another crack at the belt. A win over another former champion in Ankalaev could be key to Ulberg’s resume.

Khalil Rountree Jr.

Last October, Khalil Rountree Jr. faced Prochazka at UFC 320, winning Fight of the Night. Rountree was in control in round two and looked to be on her way to a decisive victory. He was then caught with a left hook in the third round, resulting in a knockout loss.

Despite his recent tough stretch, the Los Angeles native remains one of the top names at 205 pounds. Rountree will certainly provide Ulberg a test to make his case at the top of the division.

Paulo Costa

“Borrachinha” fought at light heavyweight for only the second time in his career when he faced Azamat Murzakanov in the co-main event of UFC 327. Paulo Costa floored Murzakanov and secured the TKO victory with a head kick in the third round.

Costa has more to prove in the division before there can be any conversation about a title shot. But on the basis of his last performance he has given a big statement.

Paulo Costa puts UFC on notice with one fight left on deal

Paulo Costa has important decisions to make after his third-round knockout of Azamat Murzakanov at UFC 327 in Miami. “Borrachinha” moved up to light heavyweight for the bout and handed previously undefeated Murzakanov the first defeat of his career, and has since revealed that his current deal with the UFC has almost expired.

Talking to AG. In the post-fight win, Costa was clear about where things stood contractually. “I have one fight left on this contract,” he said. “Let’s see what happens next. I think we’re probably in a good position to fight for the belt.”

Following a win over middleweight Roman Kopylov, the win over Murzakanov extended Costa’s win streak to two fights. Costa believes the quality of his recent opponents and the manner of his victories put him in a credible position to earn a title shot at 185 or 205 pounds. He specifically pointed to Murzakanov’s undefeated record and his sixth ranking in the official UFC light heavyweight rankings as proof that his latest win holds real significance in the title picture conversation.

With his contract expiring, the UFC has already approached Costa about an extension. His comments suggest he is in no rush to sign and wants to carefully evaluate his options before committing. “The UFC already wanted to renew the contract,” Costa said. “We’re seeing if we do one more thing and then sit down to negotiate.” He was also clear that his intention was not to simply test the market or look for a more attractive deal elsewhere. “I’m very grateful to the UFC,” he said. “But this is my life, right?”

Costa’s backstage interview time added an interesting layer to the evening’s events. Moments after he spoke, Carlos Ulberg defeated Jiri Prochazka in the opening round of the UFC 327 main event to capture the Light Heavyweight Championship, doing so on one leg after suffering an apparent knee injury during the fight. Ulberg has not yet disclosed a diagnosis or timetable for his return to the Octagon, which adds uncertainty to the 205-pound title picture that Costa now has his sights set on.

Eddie Hearn predicts Anthony Joshua will stop Deontay Wilder in 3 rounds ahead of Tyson Fury fight

Eddie Hearn has made another strong statement about the heavyweight division, this time outlining a clear path for Anthony Joshua’s return. Speaking to FightHubTV, the Matchroom boxing promoter said Joshua could face Deontay Wilder ahead of a planned bout with Tyson Fury in late 2026.

The comments come as Joshua continues to recover from a serious car accident in Nigeria in late 2025. He is working through rehabilitation and recently resumed light training. Hearn’s comments set up a possible schedule that includes a return fight, which would be followed by one of the biggest bouts in modern heavyweight boxing.

Eddie Hearn outlines Anthony Joshua’s comeback plan

Hearn explained that Joshua will need a fight before he can step into the ring with Fury. He pointed to the time Joshua spent away from boxing due to injury and recovery.

“We need a warm-up fight before we fight Tyson Fury because AJ is recovering from the accident, he’s rehabbing his body etc,” Hearn said. “We’ll have Deontay Wilder as that warm-up fighter and then we’ll fight Tyson Fury in December.”

Joshua has not fought since the accident which injured his ribs and required several months of physical therapy. His return to full training is scheduled for 2026 gradually. Hearn’s plan reflects a structured approach, starting with a fight against a known opponent before moving to a bigger event.

Hearn predicts quick stoppage against Deontay Wilder

Hearn also made a clear prediction of how the fight between Joshua and Wilder will end. He said Joshua would stop Wilder within three rounds.

Hearn said, “They sent your soul into retirement. I was sitting there in the front row.” “Well, I respect Wilder, and I think he looked a lot better. But let me tell you because I was six feet away… Anthony Joshua will go through Deontay Wilder within three rounds.”

Wilder, a former WBC heavyweight champion, remains active in the division. He is known for his knockout power and has scored several stoppage victories during his career. According to Hearn, his recent performances have seen adjustments in pace and timing.

This fight could lead to Joshua vs. Fury

The fight between Joshua and Wilder will carry extra significance because of their history. The two fighters have been linked for years, but past negotiations did not lead to a fight. Issues relating to purse division and promotion terms delayed any agreement during their championship run.

If the fight takes place in 2026, it would serve as an important step towards a meeting with Fury. Joshua and Fury have also been linked to a potential matchup for several years, but scheduling and other factors have prevented it from happening.

Hearn’s timeline suggests Joshua could return in the summer, face Wilder and then move on to fight Fury in December. Fury remains one of the leading names in the heavyweight division, and a bout with Joshua would be a huge event.

Wilder’s participation will depend on the terms of the agreement between the two camps. They have topped the division and faced major opponents over the last decade. The outcome of any proposed fight will dictate the direction of the heavyweight scene.

Tyson Fury calls out Anthony Joshua for long-awaited mega fight before the end of 2026

The long wait for a decisive all-British heavyweight showdown is finally about to end. Tyson Fury has made his position clear ahead of his return to the ring and has called on Anthony Joshua to fight next and avoid any further delays.

Fury is due to fight Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 11, but his focus has already moved beyond that fight. After years of failed negotiations, injuries and unexpected losses that disrupted plans, Fury is finally pushing for the fight if both fighters come through in their next bouts.

Tyson Fury urges Anthony Joshua to start fighting now

Fury didn’t hold back when discussing the long-delayed matchup. He pointed to seemingly repeated failures that have stalled the fight over the past decade.

“This fight was supposed to happen a number of times over the last 10 years, but then in the middle of the fight someone gets into another fight, and someone drops out or gets injured,” Fury told ESPN.

He made it clear that he did not want history to repeat itself.

“I think we should get this fight going as soon as possible, just in case something happens in between. The problem is that anything can go wrong in heavyweight boxing; there are no easy fights. And if you get upset, it’s over, that’s it. I want the next fight, and I’m sure AJ feels the same way.”

Fury also discussed the possibility of Joshua facing Deontay Wilder instead. His attitude was straightforward.

“Forget Wilder, the man is a shell of himself; forget anyone else.”

The message is clear. Fury wants no delays, no interim fights, and no distractions from what he sees as the biggest fight available in the division.

The focus will be on Makhmudov before the talks begin

Despite his comments about Joshua, Fury is still preparing for his upcoming fight against Makhmudov. This bout marks his return after a 16-month break from competition.

“Let me go until Saturday, and then we’ll fight before the end of the year. I’ve been out of the ring longer than that [Joshua] Has been out of the ring for 16 months. Let’s do this, let’s dance.”

Fury’s manager, Spencer Brown, also confirmed that the immediate focus remains on the scheduled fight.

“We don’t talk about that business until this fight is over, then we go right back in and talk about business.”

Brown said that once the fight is completed and Fury is successfully presented, discussions will begin without delay.

“Once the fight is over and Tyson wins and everybody’s happy, his family is happy, and he’s happy, let’s move on. Let’s watch the fight. I like Anthony Joshua. I like AJ, I like Tyson Fury. We’re Team Fury.”

Heavyweight division waiting to ramp up momentum for showdown

A potential fight between Fury and Joshua has been discussed for years. Both fighters held world titles at different times, but timing issues have consistently prevented a deal.

Brown believes the fight will happen, only the details remain to be sorted out.

“Let’s watch this fight. The World Cup final of boxing. It’s bigger than that… so let’s watch it. I know where my money is on.”

He said that now the main question is about time and place and not whether there will be a fight or not.

“I just feel like we’re going to see it. It’s not a question of when, it’s a question of how and when. Where will it happen?”

Possible venues have already been discussed, including large stadiums in the United Kingdom. Hopefully the scale of the event will match the long anticipation surrounding it.

Fury enters his next fight with a record of 34-2-1, while Makhmudov is at 21-2. Joshua has not fought since December 2024 but has been linked to other potential bouts.

If all parties move forward without setbacks, the long-awaited clash between Fury and Joshua could finally take place before the end of the year.

Talk of a fight with Portugal – Sporting disappointed, Arsenal in their sights

armory Take a 1-0 lead in London, but Sporting CP’s response tells a very different story to the scoreline. Inside the home dressing room and in the press room, there was no point in losing.

Instead, there was a consistent message. The tie remains open for them.

Rui Borges describes the game as balanced

Sports manager Rui Borges returned again and again to one idea – that it was an equal competition.

He started by praising his team and putting the loss in contextExplaining why he felt the result was harsh:

“In terms of the game, it was a balanced match. Raya being named man of the match says a lot about it.”

Borges used specific moments to reinforce that view:

“Arsenal, apart from a first-half chance that hit the bar, then had a shot before goal, straight at Rui. We had three clear chances where Arsenal made three good saves.”

From his perspective, the numbers and the flow of the game point in the same direction:

“It shows the balance, because the game was balanced, about 54 or 56 percent possession.”

Disappointment at late goal – but no lack of confidence

The main disappointment came from how the game was decided. Borges made it clear that the defeat was limited to a moment:

“It’s disappointing because we didn’t deserve to go away with the loss despite everything we were able to do during the game. We lost from a little moment of lack of concentration, as it happens, against a great team.”

“But that’s how football is. We won the game in the 91st minute, today we lost.”

This naturally led to his message before the second leg:

“We have to keep our heads up and believe that if there are big challenges, they are for this team.”

Clear message before London trip

When Borges was asked directly about going into the return leg with confidence, he didn’t hesitate.

“Hope is still there? Yes, obviously. We know the difficulty, we know it’s a great team, they’ll play at home.”

Still, their expectation remains firm:

“I am confident that we will respond well in London and we fully expect to keep the contest open until the end.”

He also stressed that Sporting achieved what it set out to achieve in terms of performance:

We competed with the best in Europe. This is what we say and this is what we want. This clearly shows how balanced the competition is.”

Players also repeat the same story

The players followed the same line as their manager, focusing on missed chances and good margins.

Left-back Maxi Araújo, who was a constant threat for the Gunners throughout the match, described his early opportunity as a potential turning point:

“We knew it was going to be very difficult. We had big chances and if he had gone early it would have been different.”

He insisted that Sporting had prepared to upset Arsenal:

“The important thing is that we created on both sides. In a moment of lack of concentration we lost, but we did many things well.”

And he looked ahead with cautious optimism:

“It will be tough, but this is football and we have to play great games without mistakes to turn it around.”

Striker Luis Suarez offered a slightly different angle, focusing on execution.

“The game went as we expected, it was tough. In the end the more dominant team won. But we were a good team with the ball but we lacked finishing.”

And he warned Arsenal that mentality will not change:

“This team never misses a game or a minute. There are 90 minutes left and it will be just as or even more difficult as we play away, but we can go to the next round.”

Arsenal gain, but tension remains

From Arsenal’s point of view, the job is half done. They got the goal late. They head to London. But Sporting’s reaction makes one thing clear.

This is not a team that believes parity is going away. And in a matchup already defined by a good margin, mentality could matter as much as the scoreline.

Benn calls WBC champ a “liability” ahead of Progress fight

British welterweight contender Conor Benn has shared a candid and direct take on WBC champion Ryan Garcia ahead of his next fight. Benn is due to face Regis Prograis in Manchester this Saturday, but attention has also turned to a potential future clash with Garcia.

Benn said in an interview with the BBC that he is in line to face Garcia as a mandatory challenger. However, rather than wait for a later date, they chose to be proactive. Their comments highlight both Garcia’s appeal and the uncertainty that surrounds him. Ben’s decision reflects his focus on staying busy while maintaining his position in the division. Additionally, it draws renewed attention to Garcia’s position in boxing after a turbulent period.

Connor Benn explains decision to stay active

Benn said negotiations have already taken place for the fight with Garcia. “Garcia was next, it was determined – I’m the mandatory number one spot for Garcia.” The fight was expected to take place in September, but Ben decided not to wait.

He explained his thinking clearly. “Now if you’re me, would you wait until September or take a potential banana peel in the middle? I like to roll the dice and have a little fun and stay active.”

Ben has remained active in the ring after competing with Progress. Prograis is a former world champion with top level experience. This matchup gives Ben an opportunity to remain sharp while maintaining his essential status.

Ben’s approach reflects his focus on regular competition. Instead of waiting for a title opportunity, he chose to fight and keep the momentum going. His decision also avoids the risk of inaction while negotiations continue regarding a future fight with Garcia.

Benn praises Ryan Garcia but raises concerns

Benn acknowledged Garcia’s influence on boxing and his ability to command attention. “I think Garcia is good for the sport of boxing, I think he’s a character and he’s entertaining, but he’s also a liability.”

He also talked about authenticity in sports. “People don’t want to involve themselves in the sport of boxing, so I love it when I see a young guy take criticism for being who he is. At least you’re being true to yourself and who you are. Whether I like you or not – I don’t – but some people do that, just be who you are.”

Garcia has garnered a large following and remains one of the most visible fighters in boxing. His acting and personality continues to attract attention. However, his career has also included periods of disruption.

Ben’s comments reflect both sides. He recognizes Garcia’s value to the sport while pointing to concerns raised by others in the boxing world.

Questions remain about Garcia’s credibility

Ben made his concerns clear when discussing Garcia’s unpredictability. “You don’t know who’s coming – you don’t know if Garcia’s coming or not. You don’t know if he’s going to fight or have some type of episode. You just don’t know.”

Garcia won the WBC title earlier this year after a difficult period that included suspensions and public issues. While his success in the ring remains evident, questions about consistency continue.

Ben’s decision to fight Progress allows him to remain active without relying on a situation that may change. It also keeps him ready for a title opportunity when it becomes available.

For now, Benn is focused on his upcoming fight in Manchester. A strong performance against Progress will strengthen their position in the division. At the same time, while Garcia remains a dominant figure as the WBC champion, the focus is on what’s next in his career.

Frank Warren warns WBC over Oleksandr Usyk vs. Agit Kabyle fight

Frank Warren has warned the World Boxing Council of legal action if Agit Kabayel is not ordered to face Oleksandr Usyk for the heavyweight title. The issue comes as Usyk prepares for a crossover fight against Rico Verhoeven in Egypt. Kabayel holds the WBC interim title and is ranked as the number one contender. Warren clarified her position in a recent interview, pointing to the rules for mandatory challengers. The situation has drawn attention from across the division, with the WBC yet to respond publicly as questions remain as to which fights will be ordered next.

Frank Warren says Kabayel deserves title shot

Warren outlined his stance in an interview with BoxingScene, saying that the mandatory fight should take place. “Kabayel is number one in the WBC, and the fight between Usyk and Rico Verhoeven goes on in Egypt, and afterward the WBC has to give a mandatory order, and if they don’t do it, we’ll sue them.”

He insisted Kabayel has earned the opportunity. “I’m telling you, I wouldn’t bother with it. Agit [Kabayel] deserves his chance; He must stay there, and if anyone tries to avoid that fight, he must move away from there. Its as simple as that. Fight the movement or evacuate.”

Kabayel secured his spot at February 2025 by stopping Zilei Zhang to win the interim title. He later defended it against Damien Naiba in January.

Warren raised questions on WBC’s decision-making process

Warren also questioned why the requirement had not been ratified earlier. “We won’t stand for it, why wouldn’t any organization order that fight, why wouldn’t you?” He said.

He pointed to Kabayel’s recent success in support of his argument. “We just sold out the arena [in Kabayel’s last fight] In one day, we could sell up to three times that amount. It’s not like he’s a guy you can’t make any money off of, it’s a football stadium fight between him and Usyk.

Warren also talked about Usyk’s position in the game. “I want to see it. I’m a big fan of Usyk, he’s a real warrior, why wouldn’t he want to fight him?” He said.

Oleksandr Usyk plans to add something to the current situation

Usyk has already outlined his next bouts, starting with a clash against Verhoeven. That fight is going to happen before any mandatory defense.

The WBC has not yet announced whether it will order the Kabyle fight. This decision could impact the direction of the heavyweight division in the coming months.

For now, Warren’s comments make it clear that Kabayel’s team expects the mandate to remain in place. The situation remains unresolved as both sides await the WBC’s next move.

Fabio Wardley sends warning to Oleksandr Usyk over missing fight ahead of retirement

Fabio Wardley has made his position clear as he targets a fight with Oleksandr Usyk before the Ukrainian retires. The undefeated British heavyweight says he will be “furious” if Usyk doesn’t face him next fight. Wardley is set to defend his WBO title against Daniel Dubois on May 9 in Manchester.

Usyk, 39, has talked about a short list of fights before retirement, but his plans have changed in recent weeks. Wardley spoke about the situation and said he wanted clarity. He believes he has got his chance after recent results and wants a direct path to title contention.

Fabio Wardley questions Oleksandr Usyk’s changing plans

Wardley said Usyk’s next step is unclear. The former undisputed champion previously outlined a plan that included a fight with Rico Verhoeven on May 23 in Egypt. He also mentioned facing the winner of Wardley’s fight with Dubois and a third fight with Tyson Fury.

Usyk has since talked about Agit Kabayel as another option. Kabayel is the WBC mandatory challenger and has recent wins over Arslanbek Makhmudov, Frank Sanchez and Zilei Zhang.

“Nobody knows who he’s going to fight,” Fabio said in an interview with IFL TV. “One minute he’s in Egypt fighting the Pharaoh or something, the next he wants to fight me, then he wants to fight Kabayel. He doesn’t know what he wants to do.”

Wardley says he passed every test

Wardley said he did a lot to win the fight with Usyk. He defeated Joseph Parker in his last fight and is now preparing to face Dubois. He said that he wants the same result after this next match also.

“I’m just going to keep moving forward, I’m going to keep winning and beating people, and if he wants to try, he can try.”

When asked if he would feel relieved to avoid Usyk, he dismissed the idea.

“Absolutely not, I’ll be furious. I’ve been through the Joseph Parker fight, and I want Usyk. I’m going to go through the Daniels fight, and I want Usyk. How many tests does he want me to do?”

Focus shifts to Wardley vs. Daniel Dubois bout

Wardley now turns his full attention to Dubois. Both fighters are undefeated and hold strong positions in the heavyweight division.

Wardley said he feels as if Usyk is being tested before taking a shot at him.

“I feel like I’m putting Usyk through tests. He’s making me do certain things before he allows me to fight him. So if I do them, and then he walks away, I’ll be furious. I won’t have words.”

Usyk is expected to retire after completing his final fight. He became the first undisputed heavyweight champion in 25 years when he defeated Fury in a 2024 rematch. Wardley’s next result will play a key role in what happens next in the division.

Who are Fernando Mendoza’s parents? Details on the fight for family and mother’s health for the future number 1 choice

“The Mendoza Mafia is deeply entrenched.” That’s how the quarterback describes his family — and for Fernando Mendoza, that support system has been everything.

The Indiana Hoosiers QB is officially taking his talents to the next level in April after declaring for the NFL Draft in 2025 following a dream season. Once a lightly recruited guy coming out of high school who began his college career at Cal, Mendoza flipped the script in a big way — winning the Heisman Trophy and leading Indiana to a national championship victory over Miami in January.

At the center of it all is her mother, Elsa. Living with multiple sclerosis, she has been his constant source of strength and inspiration.

Leeds United are moving particularly strongly to help King – in the fight with Everton owners

Leeds United target Soufiane El Karouni
Leeds United target Soufiane El Karouni

Everton owners Friedkin Group could face a battle from Leeds United in the race to sign FC Utrecht’s Soufiane El Karouni for AS Roma.

The Friedkin Group owns Everton and Roma and have identified the left-back as a target for the Serie A team.

Leeds United are also in the mix and Everton bosses will have to be wary of the Whites.

The 25-year-old has impressed in defense and attack for the Eredivisie side this season.

To put this in context, he has contributed three goals and 16 assists in 43 minutes in 3,498 matches. He has only featured as a left-back this season, not as a wing-back, and his league statistics are as follows:

  • expected goal [per season]: 1.70
  • expected assistance [per season]:7.19
  • Big chances created: 14
  • Interception: 1.0
  • Tackle: 2.8
  • possession won [final third]: 0.4
  • Ball recovered: 4.7
  • Duel won: 5.2

The above statistics should be an indication of the Morocco international’s overall game.

The Premier League side have already shown interest in the assist king. Last month, Sports Witness broadcast news LEEDS United could battle West Ham United for his signature. The Hammers wanted him in the winter market but a move never materialized.

Leeds United keen on Morocco

Thursday edition of gazzetta dello sport A report focusing on AS Roma has included the English club’s interest in Soufiane El Karouni.

The Everton owner is working on some potential signings for the Serie A team for next season.

Roma are looking to the Eredivisie for a fullback with the FC Utrecht player a target.

El Karouni’s contract expires in June and this, combined with his performances, makes him even more attractive in the market. Several European clubs, notably Leeds United and Marseille, are keen.

Daniel Farke’s side may be making a strong move to try to bring him to Elland Road.

Why can’t the summer deal be easy for white people?

Leeds United's interest in Soufiane El Karouni covers Gazzetta dello Sport

Gabriel Gudmundsson and Sam Byram are the two recognized left-backs in Daniel Farke’s squad.

Leeds United are now 15th in the table, four points above the relegation zone. Marseille, on the other hand, is third in Ligue 1 and will qualify for Europe. one step towards france [or Roma] Soufiane may be more attractive to El Karouni than joining the Whites.

His status as a free agent will certainly see more clubs join the battle for his signature, and that could prove challenging for the Premier League side.

Oleksandr Usyk puts Tyson Fury Trilogy in doubt, opens door to Agit Kabyle fight

Oleksandr Usyk has eased his stance on a potential clash with Agit Kabayel, raising fresh uncertainty over a long-discussed third fight with Tyson Fury. Speaking in an interview with the Daily Mail the undisputed heavyweight champion said Kabayel could fit into his plans following his upcoming title defense against Rico Verhoeven in May.

Usyk had previously outlined a clear path away from Kabyle, but his latest comments suggest a change. While he remains linked to the winner of the WBO eliminator between Fabio Wardley and Daniel Dubois, the bigger picture now looks more flexible than before.

Oleksandr Usyk leaves options open after Verhoeven fight

Usyk made it clear that his plans are not on hold, even if expectations remain for his next few fights.

“Maybe I’ll fight Kabyle, maybe I won’t face Tyson Fury for the third time, and instead I’ll fight Kabyle. I only tell my plan, but that’s not set in stone. I understand the agit fans are saying you have to fight him. But I don’t have to fight him. I’ve got to live my life, I’ve got to take care of my team, my kids. As far as fighting goes, I just work hard, and my Opponents work hard.”

“Maybe it’s possible that I fight Agit. He’s a great fighter, and he’s very smart.”

The tone is different from earlier this year when Usyk’s roadmap appeared certain. Now, depending on how things go, he is clearly keeping multiple doors open.

Inevitable pressure builds around Agit Kabyle

Kabayel’s status as a WBC mandatory challenger has been a topic of discussion for months. His camp has worked hard for a title shot, arguing that he has earned it.

The 32-year-old is unstoppable and is considered one of the more disciplined legends outside the top level. Usyk’s public praise only adds weight to his case.

If Usyk chooses Kabayel next, it will satisfy quiet criticism of his avoidance of the expectations and mandates of the sanctioning body. If not, the pressure is likely to increase.

Tyson Fury Trilogy No Longer Guaranteed

After the previous two fights, a third fight with Fury seemed inevitable. Now, that scenario is much less certain.

Fury has continued to seek a trilogy following his defeat in December 2024, but Usyk’s latest comments suggest it is no longer a priority.

Now everything depends on time. The Wardley-Dubois winner still factors into the title picture, and Usyk’s May bout with Verhoeven remains the immediate focus.

For now, the heavyweight division remains fluid. However, one thing is clear. Usyk is still deciding what’s next.

West Ham United star Mateus Fernandes says Nuno Espirito Santo’s arrival at his Premier League side has personally benefited him.

Jon Jones reveals asking price for failed UFC White House fight

Jon Jones recently revealed that he was looking for money for his unsuccessful booking against Alex Pereira at the UFC White House card.

Last month, the UFC finally revealed the long-awaited lineup for its historic June event that will take place on the White House lawn. However, mixed martial arts fans were disappointed that one of the sports industry’s greatest fighters, Jon Jones, was taken off the card.

Prior to the announcement, rumors swirled that the company was in talks with “Bones” about a fight with former two-division champion Pereira. Jones also confirmed this. Nevertheless, both sides were unable to reach an agreement.

In the weeks since, UFC CEO Dana White has tried to downplay the actual negotiations. Jones has become frustrated with his boss’s refusal and even requests to be released from his contract. Reports revealed that the former two-division champion’s asking price was a deal breaker. On Saturday, Jones added more details about the failed talks.

Jon Jones wanted just over $15 million for UFC White House return

“I was ready, willing and physically able to take the step. I was willing to take much less than [Tom] Aspinall asks, but they won’t take a dollar over $15 million,” Jones wrote in an X post. “I felt like our fight was worth more.”

Over $15 million is certainly a big number for the typical earnings of UFC stars. However, if a fighter and card were worth the price, Jones and the UFC White House event would seem to be worth the splurge on him. Furthermore, it looks bad for White when he is reportedly paying boxer Conor Benn such a sum for just one fight in Zuffa Boxing.

The UFC is reportedly spending around $60 million on the event, called UFC Freedom Fight 260, to be held in June.

Canceled practice, wild fight, rocket bounce

Here are the Montreal Canadiens news items, stories and content you may have missed on Friday.

montreal canadiens news

Despite a disappointing end to Thursday’s loss against the Detroit Red Wings, the Canadiens were fired by head coach Martin Saint-Louis on Friday. The decision caused a lot of anger on social media, but if we remove emotions from the equation, it would be fair to suggest that sometimes the carrot yields better results than the stick.

Is anyone surprised that Lane Hutson decided to practice despite having a day off? Oliver Kapanen joined Hutson, with both players spending time working with skills coach Adam Nicholls.

Vincent Arseneau is a despicable, mean man. He made quick work of Springfield Thunderbirds winger Cale Casey in the Rockets’ 4–1 victory.

There were also some other incidents that did not involve a Rockets player demolishing his opponent. Samuel Blais (11), Jared Davidson (16), Philipp Messer (9), and Florian Czekaj (15) found the back of the net for the Rockets, while Kaapo Kahkonen stopped 28 of 29 shots to seal the win.

There was some unfortunate Montreal news on Friday, as former Montreal Expos announcer Roger Brulotte passed away. He was 79 years old.

Moses Itauma questions WBC call as Oleksandr Usyk vs. Verhoeven title fight sparks debate

Oleksandr Usyk will defend his WBC heavyweight title against Rico Verhoeven on May 23 in Giza, Egypt, with the fight taking place near the Pyramids. The event will be broadcast worldwide on DAZN pay-per-view.

The fight has attracted attention throughout boxing after it was approved as a full title defense by the WBC Board of Governors. The sanctioning body initially placed the matchup as a special event, later confirming that it would be contested for the belt.

That change has sparked debate within the sport, including a reaction from rising British heavyweight Moussa Itauma.

Moussa Itauma questions WBC decision

Moses Itauma spoke to Ariel Helwani after the WBC confirmed the fight would receive full title status. The 21-year-old said Usyk has earned the right to choose his opponents, but questioned whether the decision was fair.

“Usyk, he can do whatever he wants. He’s earned this right. But I don’t like to use the word fair, but I don’t think he should be allowed to fight for a world title.”

“Obviously, like I said, Usyk has earned the right to do whatever he wants, but I don’t think it’s right for Rico to be able to fight for a world title in his first fight. It’s a little crazy.”

Itauma also addressed the occasion on Verhoeven’s behalf.

“If Rico got a chance to fight Usyk for the WBC title, it would be foolish for him not to take it. It’s only fair if he’s able to fight for it in his first fight. It’s a little crazy.”

Rico Verhoeven enters his first major boxing title fight

Rico Verhoeven, 36, is a longtime kickboxing champion who has built his reputation on glory with victories over the top names in that sport. His professional boxing record includes one fight in 2014.

The fight against Usyk will be his first appearance in a major boxing event. The WBC’s decision to sanction the bout as a title fight came after its initial status was changed.

Dan Rafael and other members of the media reported the WBC’s earlier stance on the matchup.

“The WBC fully supports this crossover fight. This will be the WBC’s signature event. And we will create an incredible belt featuring elements of the Egyptian pyramids. The WBC supports Fury vs. Ngannou [sic]Joe proved to be very competitive, and we have full respect for Rico as a great kickboxing heavyweight champion. At this time, the request for a title defense has not been discussed and only a special event involving the WBC Heavyweight Champion has been discussed.

That situation later changed, with the WBC confirming that the fight would be for the title.

“After careful consideration. The WBC Board of Governors has ruled in favor of approving the voluntary title defense of WBC World Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr Usyk against veteran kickboxing champion Rico Verhoeven.”

Organizers have positioned the event as a global showcase with international distribution through DAZN pay-per-view.

Usyk prepares for next title defense

Oleksandr Usyk entered the bout undefeated with a 24-0 record and 15 knockouts. The Ukrainian holds multiple heavyweight titles and remains active at the top level of the division.

The May 23 contest will serve as his next defense of the WBC belt, with Verhoeven stepping up to challenge despite his limited boxing experience. Itauma, who has a 13-0 record with 11 knockouts, continues to build his career with an eye on growth in the heavyweight division.

The decision to upgrade the bout to a title bout has put the focus on the matchup, with eyes now turning to how the bout plays out and what it could mean for future opportunities in the heavyweight division.

Dustin Poirier Reveals How Conor McGregor Won Fight Over 13 Years

Dustin Poirier recently reflected on what he considers the defining victory of his MMA career.

Speaking on Joe Rogan’s MMA Show, the now-retired lightweight recalled his knockout of Conor McGregor at UFC 257 in January 2021 and explained why that was the fight, above all others, that changed everything for him in his 19-year career.

“I fought for 19 years, that Conor fight, that’s when things changed for me identity-wise,” Poirier said. “The door opened for seminars, for appearances. It changed everything. I went to a lot of UFC main events. I fought for the belt and all that stuff, but that guy’s name, man.”

Poirier and McGregor first met in 2014, when McGregor defeated Poirier in 98 seconds. Seven years later, Poirier reversed that result in Abu Dhabi, eliminating McGregor in the second round. It was a significant moment in UFC history, but Poirier’s comments make it clear how much it meant to him personally and professionally.

The comments are surprising, considering Poirier had already built his resume that night. He headlined pay-per-view events, competed in title matches, and spent a decade at the top of the lightweight division. By any measure, he was already an established name in the game.

But Poirier is clear that none of this translated to the visibility and opportunity that came from defeating McGregor. The importance of McGregor’s name, even years short of his best, opened doors that years of elite-level competition had not.

Dustin Poirier explains why he retired from UFC

Poirier ultimately retired from MMA in July 2025 after a loss to Max Holloway at UFC 318, where he was defeated in their BMF title trilogy fight. He had announced his retirement even before the match. On the Rogan show, he explained his reason for leaving the position at the age of 36.

“I was scared of fighting for a very long time,” Poirier said. “I retired at 36. How much more athletic will I become? How fast will I go? Strength is the last thing, but durability, speed, reaction time and everything else I need decreases with age.

“And if I’m not in the right line for a title shot, what am I doing? I’m just fighting to fight, or for the pay. I had to look at myself in the mirror, like, ‘Okay, this is it. I’ll be healthy.’ For the most part, I went with my abilities.”

Liverpool fight to stop €25m transfer – Reds bargain could be blocked

denzel dumfries
31 May 2025; Munich Football Arena, Munich, Germany; UEFA Champions League Final football match; Paris vs Inter; Denzel Dumfries of FC Internazionale Milan

Denzel Dumfries has emerged as a target for Liverpool over the past few months. Inter Milan are now attempting to lure the Dutchman away from the Reds.

In the winter transfer window, sports witness Covered the Anfield club’s approach to wing-back.

Even though Dumfries was injured at the time, Liverpool were approached for his signature. Inter CEO Beppe Marotta also confirmed this and the wing-back was seen as a short-term replacement for Jérémy Frimpong, who soon returned from his injury.

More recently, Corriere dello Sport made it clear That Arne Slott’s team will return to the field for Dumfries in the summer. They are attracted by his €25m release clause, which is seen as a bargain for a Premier League team.

Now, it seems the Nerazzurri are trying their best to tie down Dumfries to a new deal.

€25m release clause can be removed

The Interista The report adds that the Netherlands international is seen as one of the best players at Inter. This was made abundantly clear in the club’s 1-1 draw against Atalanta at the weekend.

The Nerazzurri now believe that Dumfries cannot be easily replaced. His current contract expires in the summer of 2028 and Inter will now try to renew it until 2029.

The Dutchman currently earns around €4m per season and a new deal would take it to around €5m per season.

Furthermore, the Serie A league leaders want to waive his €25m release clause. They want to have more control over the ex-PSV player’s situation and ensure that Liverpool cannot sign him for such a cheap fee.

It is believed that Inter are keen to treat him with great importance and give him what he deserves.

Liverpool can do better than Dumfries

It’s fair to say that the Reds still haven’t fully replaced Trent Alexander-Arnold. Frimpong has converted from a full-back to a winger, showcasing his trademark ability to carry the ball forward.

In a way, Dumfries is exactly that. He has never really been a technical outlet and his best performances have come as a right wing receiver. He’s not a creator by any means and perhaps, Frimpong is better at carrying the ball forward.

Inter usually play Dumfries to his strengths and that is why he is so important to them.

He could become a problem for Liverpool and weaknesses could be exposed. He is 29 years old and possibly looking for one last big contract at the highest level. Talk of a move to Anfield would only help him and his teammates, which is probably why this topic keeps coming up again and again.

Jarvis records first NHL fight vs. Lightning Girgensons

Looking ahead to Saturday’s game, it was expected that the Carolina Hurricanes could have a tough matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning, who lead the league in penalty minutes. However, what may not have been on many people’s bingo card was Seth Jarvis recording the first NHL fight of his career.

It happened the same night that his mother, Tracy Jarvis, read out the starting lineup in the dressing room for the Hurricanes’ biennial mothers’ visit.

Before the gloves hit the cold hard ice, Sebastian Aho was first on him after checking Zemgus Girgensons on the bench-side of the ice in the neutral zone. Although the hit was clean, it was not one that Hurricane liked – especially his classmate Jarvis. Without any delay, Jarvis grabbed Girgenson and took off the gloves. The fight lasted only eight seconds, and his opponent had the upper hand – with nine fights in his own NHL career – but the fire to get it done spoke volumes for the Hurricanes right wing.

“It wasn’t a bad hit,” Jarvis said during the first intermission interview. “But I felt it was something I didn’t like.

“Whenever I see one of my teammates – one of my family – I take advantage of that. I thought there’s no better time than trying to fight with my mom in the stands… It’s definitely not something I’m used to, but it’s something I’m willing to do for my teammates.”

Clippers, Timberwolves fight after Kawhi Leonard’s nuclear game

The Los Angeles Clippers not only beat the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night; He embarrassed them. But while Kawhi Leonard was busy putting on a historic masterpiece, the real fireworks began after the final buzzer sounded at the Intuit Dome.

In a game in which Leonard went completely nuclear, the Clippers won 153–128, which was marred by a post-game brawl. Tensions eventually flared up when a heated exchange broke out between Naz Reed, Jaden McDaniels and Benedict Mathurin, requiring teammates and security to separate the groups. The frustration on the part of the Minnesota Timberwolves was understandable, considering they were on the wrong end of one of the most efficient scoring performances in NBA history.

Kawhi Leonard was the catalyst for all that frustration. “The Claw” finished with 45 points, five rebounds and five assists, but efficiency was the terrible part. Leonard shot a whopping 15 of 20 from the field, including 6 of 9 from beyond the arc. He also missed 9 of 10 free throws, essentially scoring at will against a Minnesota defense that currently ranks among the league’s elite.

While Anthony Edwards tried to keep pace with 36 points, the Timberwolves had no answer for a Clippers team that shot 63 percent as a unit. Julius Randle contributed 18 points in the loss, but the lack of defensive resistance clearly took its toll on the visiting team. The postgame melee between Mathurin and the Timberwolves’ frontcourt duo looked like a direct byproduct of a 25-point blowout.

For the Clippers, this win did more than just provide highlights; It takes them above the .500 mark for the first time since their disappointing 5-20 start. If Leonard continues to play at this “cyborg” level of efficiency, the rest of the Western Conference players are going to have a lot more to worry about.

2. Phân tích trận đấu tâm điểm: Lâm Đình An v.s. Hà Triết Quân

Trận đấu tại sự kiện 鬥雞 I Fight 8 giữa “Phó chủ tịch Liên minh bỏ học” Lâm Đình An và “Kỹ sư ngoan hiền” Hà Triết Quân đã trở thành một biểu tượng cho sự giao thoa giữa các tầng lớp xã hội trong võ đài.

3. Bảng xếp hạng sức mạnh chiến đấu 鬥雞

Usman reveals huge Makhachev fight update and UFC counter offer against former champion

Kamaru Usman revealed this week that his quest to win another UFC title at welterweight has hit a wall named Hunter Campbell.

At 38, the former welterweight king knows he doesn’t have much time left at the highest level of the sport. That’s why he’s done everything he can over the past eight months to get himself a championship fight with new welterweight champion and friend Islam Makhachev.

After picking up his first win in nearly four years over Joaquin Buckley in June, he doesn’t have the strongest case for a title shot. However, he has tried to take advantage of his friendship with the Russian and his name as one of the greatest welterweights of all-time to work his way into the fight. However, this doesn’t seem to be working.

During a new edition of their pound 4 pound In a podcast with fellow veteran Henry Cejudo, Usman revealed that he has told the company why he thinks the fight with Makhachev makes the most sense. However, despite the discussions, the former champion claims that UFC CBO Hunter Campbell “feels differently” and has no interest in the matchup.

The comments seem to support recent rumors that Campbell has taken on a larger day-to-day role for the UFC, including fight contracts, than CEO Dana White.

Kamaru Usman offered fight against Dricus du Plessis

Along with the update on the lack of progress towards a fight for the welterweight strap, Usman also offered that Campbell and the UFC approached his pitch with the idea of a different fight and in a different weight class. Usman revealed that he was offered a matchup with former middleweight champion Darius du Plessis.

Although Usman is not against a fight at 185 pounds, he claims he is only interested in “meaningful” fights followed by a title opportunity. The UFC may be unwilling to guarantee a championship match following a win over DDP.

Usman scheduled a short-notice fight at middleweight against defending champion Khamzat Makhachev in October 2023. He lost the match by majority decision.

Giannis’ All-Star recruiting pitch to Devin Booker features a joke about Isaiah Stewart’s fight

One of the biggest stories this season is the future of Giannis Antetokounmpo and whether he will stay with the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks are currently out of the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference, as the roster is not suited to make a championship run without another star to take the load off Antetokounmpo and step up if he is injured.

But it appears Antetokounmpo is taking matters into his own hands, as a video from NBA All-Star weekend in which he is “recruiting” Suns star Devin Booker has surfaced. In the video, Giannis cited the example of Pistons big man Isaiah Stewart, who is known for his aggressive playing style and old-school enforcer attitude.

“You make everything look good, man, but you wear a different jersey than me. You can wear the same jersey as me. I’m like Isaiah Stewart: I’ll fight for you,” Antetokounmpo said in the video.

The reference was appropriate because Stewart was suspended seven games for running off the bench for fighting Hornets forward Miles Bridges following an altercation involving the Pistons’ Jalen Duren and the Hornets’ Moussa Diabate. But the joke hides the truth that Antetokounmpo wants help to achieve his championship.

Booker and Antetokounmpo share an interesting history, having faced off in the 2021 NBA Finals, which resulted in Giannis’ first and only NBA title. After leading the series 2–0, the Bucks swept four consecutive wins and their first NBA championship since 1971.

While Booker likely won’t be available for a trade this offseason, perhaps acquiring a second star would be what Antetokounmpo would need to stay in Milwaukee.

Conor McGregor goes public with disappointment as UFC remains silent on return fight

While Conor McGregor claims he is ready to return to the Octagon, and against anyone, he is becoming publicly frustrated by the lack of updates from the UFC.

It makes sense that Dana White and the UFC would move on from the idea of McGregor fighting again. After two losses to Dustin Poirier and a serious foot injury in 2021, the Irish superstar remains on the sidelines.

He was going to face Michael Chandler in 2023 and again in 2024. However, “Notorious” stopped short of returning to the drug testing program, then withdrew from the planned bout due to a toe injury suffered two years ago. This gave many people in and around the company the impression that McGregor had retired and they did not want to accept it.

However, when the UFC revealed plans for a fight card on the White House lawn last year, McGregor immediately made it known he wanted to be involved. Still, many questioned how serious he was about returning to the cage after five years and at the age of 37.

Well, the future UFC Hall of Famer seems to be honest about his desire to return sometime this year, and has posted videos of him training for his return fight. Furthermore, he has claimed that he is as outspoken as he has been in years. last week,

White claimed that he and his team had planned the entire card for the White House event in June. This would suggest that he has contacted McGregor about a fight on the card. Well, it seems they haven’t, and the Irish are becoming frustrated with the lack of communication.

“Day 15 of ‘I accept, send contract’,” McGregor wrote in a post on X on Monday morning.

An important part of McGregor’s contract is to receive pay-per-view points for his bouts. However, the company is not currently doing PPVs after reaching a $7.7 billion deal to air all of their programs on Paramount+, so that part of their deal cannot be fulfilled.

It’s possible that the UFC knows he may not be on the White House card and are still not sure how they can get him back into the Octagon while still meeting his financial demands. That means the saga of whether he will fight again or not will not end soon.
