Drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003, James has played 23 seasons in his NBA career. Although the Lakers star missed a few games here and there, the sheer amount of years he played meant that sooner or later he was bound to break this record. Games played by James spanned Cleveland, Miami and Los Angeles.

His longevity is the biggest reason why many fans consider him the greatest player in NBA history. Even at the age of 41, the Lakers star is still averaging 21.4 points per game on efficient shooting (shooting 51.4% from the field). He’s also adding 6.8 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game. Although he is not the focal point of the Lakers’ offense as before, he has still been an integral part for them this season.

Due to his age, there is talk in the league about James’ possible retirement after this season. Although the Lakers star has not clearly stated that he will retire after the 2025-26 season, this decision is still lingering in every fan’s mind as the season progresses. However, for now he and the Lakers are focused on winning another championship. Los Angeles enters its game against Miami as the third seed in the highly competitive Western Conference, and is on track to make the postseason.

Much of the Minnesota Vikings’ offseason has been about either finding someone who can compete and/or replace JJ McCarthy, moving on from general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, or cutting costs after being $40 million over the spending cap. It’s time for something new.

According to NFL insider Tony Pauline of Essential Sports, the Vikings met with South Carolina’s Rahsul Faison at his recent Pro Day. But the Vikings’ interests went further than this. He took a hands-on approach by holding RB position drills for the 26-year-old prospect.

Faison reportedly had a “fantastic” workout, where he “caught the ball very well.” After the workout was completed, the Vikings took the 5-foot-11, 208-pounder back for lunch.

Faison ran the unofficial 40 yard dash between 4.49 and 4.50 seconds, while the short shuttle clocked in at 4.1 seconds. He also recorded a vertical jump of 37.5 inches.

Poulin believes Faison could be drafted on Day 3 or “somewhere starting in Round 5.” The Vikings have nine selections in the 2026 NFL Draft, including the 23rd overall selection (No. 163) in the fifth round.

While the Vikings found a way to bring back veteran Aaron Jones on a reduced salary, the 31-year-old missed five games due to injury. The Dallas Mavericks are currently looking towards their second consecutive season in the NBA lottery after their 2024 NBA Finals appearance. Things went pretty well for Dallas the last time he was there, as the team landed the number one overall pick Cooper Flagg, who is currently in the running with former Duke teammate Kon Knueppel for the NBA Rookie of the Year award.

Another former Duke player on the Dallas roster is point guard Kyrie Irving, who will miss this season recovering from ACL surgery.

In his absence, the Mavericks have predictably lost some games, but recently, Flagg revealed how Irving has taken on a leadership role despite being on the sidelines.

“He stepped in like a great vet for me and gave me guidance there because there were definitely times when I was shaken up,” Flagg said via Ron Harrod Jr. of the Dallas Mavs on Twitter, according to ESPN’s NBA Today. “I had never lost so much in my life. But to hear him say that and tell me that I’m doing everything I need to do and to just stick with it and stay positive, it definitely helped me a lot.”

Flagg became accustomed to winning during his time as a high school standout and college freshman star, but that has stopped in the NBA, as Dallas opted to blow things up at the trade deadline by trading Anthony Davis.

The expectation is that the Mavericks will be able to add a flag in this year’s lottery and another high-level talent to pair with a healthy Irving next year, creating a potential contender in the West.

Clearly, Irving is still finding ways to stay busy despite his struggles this season.

If Patrick Mahomes has yet to fully recover from the ACL tear that befell the team, he’s an intriguing option to be the starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs in their early season.

Last season was a disaster for the Chiefs. For the first time since Andy Reid became head coach a decade earlier, the team finished a season with a record below .500. However, the end of the campaign also added salt to the wound.

During a December game against the Los Angeles Chargers, the face of the Chiefs franchise – Patrick Mahomes – tore his ACL and LCL. While Mahomes is a great athlete and has had ample time to prepare in Week 1, the organization should not rush to get their most important player back on the field until he is 1,000% ready.

Well, a stronger alternative has just become available. On Thursday morning, the Baltimore Ravens announced that they have released eight-year veteran Cooper Rush. The 32-year-old is a traditional backup QB, having a solid 9-7 record as a starter during stints with the Dallas Cowboys and Ravens.

When he works with good talent, Rush has shown he can make an impact under center and has some big wins as well as 300-plus yard games on his resume. If he were to start for the Chiefs early in the season, he could manage the offense and help the team get some wins. But when Mahomes returns, Kansas City will have one of the better backup signal-callers in the game.

A new rumor provides the New England Patriots with a great secondary option if they are unable to complete a trade for AJ Brown in the coming days.

However, in 2025, he was not as effective in the new offense under head coach Liam Coen and offensive coordinator Grant Udinsky. Tallied only 48 catches, 707 yards and two TDs in 14 starts.

Thomas won’t come cheap, and the price will probably start with the first-rounder the Patriots offered the Browns. While it will be a bit risky, it’s worth it for a 23-year-old who has already shown he can be a WR1 in the NFL. Plus, he’s locked in for two more seasons at a bargain rate, and New England will also have the option to extend him for another season in 2028.

Now, Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has spoken about the Ipswich Town player.

The Italian spoke to Radio GR1 about several Sassuolo players. He was asked specifically about Muric and expressed his admiration for the player while hinting at a permanent move.

Kawhi Leonard and the LA Clippers got a big win against one of the NBA’s best teams on Thursday night thanks to the contributions of freshman shooting guard Benedict Mathurin.

The fourth-year guard was traded to the Clippers on the day of the NBA trade deadline in a package that brought Isaiah Jackson and some draft picks to Los Angeles in exchange for All-Defensive center Ivica Zubac.

In his third game with the team since the acquisition – and his first game inside the Intuit Dome as a Clipper – Mathurin led the Clippers’ comeback win.

Benedict Mathurin scored 38 points in his first game at home, leading the Clippers to a 115–114 win over Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. The guard shot 12 of 22 from the field and 12 of 13 from the free throw line in the win, scored 11 points off the bench in the first quarter and poured in 16 points in the fourth quarter to close out the win.

“He’s doing it,” Kawhi Leonard said of his new teammate. “It’s great to have another scorer that can get 30 points, saw him in the NBA Finals [against the Oklahoma City Thunder]. “He was doing that all year with the Pacers, in the finals last year, so it’s great to have him.”

Mathurin had some big performances for the Indiana Pacers last season, including a 27-point performance in Game 3, helping his team take a 2–1 series lead, and a 24-point, 13-rebound performance in Game 7, after Tyrese Haliburton ruptured his Achilles tendon.

“He’s been aggressive since he’s been playing with us, but it was great,” Leonard said. “Like you said, he scored 11 in the first, and he continued it from there. He came out in transition, made some layups, hit some big three-point shots. Guarded very well, so it’s been a great pickup.”

Benedict Mathurin has increased his scoring, rebounding and assists for three consecutive seasons, but now he has a chance to develop a consistency that was not available to him at Indiana under head coach Rick Carlisle.

“It’s going to be amazing [playing under head coach Tyronn Lue],” Mathurin said after last night’s win. “He might end up being my best friend.” He told me to be aggressive, man. He told me how I am, and I feel like he really knows my game. He knows exactly what I can do. So, I’m glad to have him as our coach and I think with everyone together we can do great things.”

Thursday night was also the second consecutive game in which Mathurin reached double-digit free throw attempts, displaying the ability to not only score at a high level, but also pressure the defense and get to the free throw line, where he shot 83.6 percent for his career.

In just a few days, the NBA will begin the second half of the season, and it is expected that most teams will try to strengthen their positions to earn the much-coveted ticket to the playoffs.

As far as other squads are concerned, let the tanking begin.

Tanking has been a persistent issue for the NBA, affecting the integrity of the league. Whenever teams don’t play to win, it’s the fans who lose.

The initial belief was that Bronny James needed to play at least one more year in college before entering the draft. However, he declared to turn professional and was selected by the Lakers in the late second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
