The latest reports from Chile continue to suggest that England remains the most likely destination for the Midtjylland winger... despite renewed interest from Portugal.
The 22-year-old player has been on the radar of many English clubs for several months. Liverpool have previously been credited with making an offer. Meanwhile, Manchester United, Leeds, Bournemouth, Everton and Fulham have all been linked at various stages.
Now, according to AS ChileCrystal Palace has joined that list. This adds another Premier League side to the growing number of clubs interested in the Chile international.
The report comes with new claims that Osorio's departure from Midtjylland is increasingly considered inevitable. This comes after the Danish club extended his contract till 2030 earlier this year.
Benfica move revived by former rival
The main development outside England is the return of Benfica. According to Chili Outlet sports dnaBenfica have placed Osorio on a short shortlist of transfer targets. This came after a direct request from new manager Marco Silva.
The Portuguese coach is said to have admired the winger during his time at Fulham and has now rekindled that interest since taking charge in Lisbon.
The report says a deal could be worth between €12m (£10.3m) and €15m (£12.9m). However, Midtjylland has not yet publicly set an asking price.
Previous reports from Chile have revealed that the Danish side are ultimately expected to command an even higher fee as they attempt to break their own transfer record.
Premier League still seen as favourites
Despite Benfica's renewed interest, the latest reporting continues to point towards England.
Last month, as relayed sports dnaMidtjylland sporting director Christian Kjaer confirmed that Arsenal remain one of the clubs closely following Osorio. He also acknowledged previous interest from Bournemouth and other Premier League sides.
"We know Arsenal are interested in Osorio, but we also know other Premier League clubs are too," Kjaer said.
He also explained why he believes the winger would be a good fit for English football.
“In my opinion, the Premier League is very suitable for him because his mentality is very hard-working.”
"His defensive changes are incredible, his top speed is incredible. He is a left-footed right winger who can go either side of his direct opponent. He has everything. In Chile, he is considered the next Alexis Sanchez. I think he can make a difference in the Premier League."
Now that Crystal Palace has joined the conversation, those comments take on even more importance. While Benfica represents a credible option under Marco Silva, loads of interest is still coming from England, with Premier League clubs dominating the discussion around Osorio's next move.
