new york liberty And Marine Johannes has made it back-to-back wins to start the season by defeating the Washington Mystics 98-93 in overtime on Sunday at CareFirst Arena.

Johannes continued his hot shooting, scoring a game-high 25 points on 8-of-15 shooting, including 6-of-13 from three-point range. He also had two assists and two steals that night.

On his part, the Liberty veteran Breanna Stewart Added 23 points, nine rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks in another all-around performance.

The pair also had stellar performances for the Liberty in their 106-75 opening win over the Connecticut Sun on Friday. Stewart had 31 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and three blocks, while Johannes added 17 points on 5-of-9 shooting from long range, five rebounds, three assists and three steals.

According to the Liberty, Marin Johannes became the third player in league history to make at least 10 three-pointers in her first two games of the season.

“She joins Nikki McCray (2000) as the only players in league history to start a season with consecutive games of 5+ three-pointers,” the post on X (formerly Twitter) said.

The 31-year-old French guard has stepped up in the absence of superstar Sabrina Ionescu, who is out for two weeks with a foot injury sustained in the preseason.

Johannes went undrafted in 2017 and linked up with different teams in Europe. He signed with the Liberty last season, making it his third stint with the team. He played a career-high 44 games, averaging 6.4 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 18.3 minutes off the bench.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have poured millions of dollars into their football program, trying to keep pace with other major schools of the NFL era. Unfortunately, in a growing trend, this is going to come at the expense of other Fighting Irish athletic programs.

In a recent episode of Irish Illustrated Insider, 17 Notre Dame sports’ budgets will be cut in future years and that includes reducing the number of scholarships.

Among the reported cuts, the Fighting Irish baseball team’s scholarships will be reduced to 10.2 in future years. Barring a few select programs, the cuts will be felt largely across the board.

There are reportedly only nine Notre Dame sports teams, including football, men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, hockey, men’s and women’s soccer, and men’s and women’s lacrosse. Additionally, every sport’s budget has either been frozen or reduced, with scholarship cuts also being a part of that equation.

Notre Dame’s baseball program recently reached the College World Series in Omaha in 2022. The program has now lost more than 20 games in four consecutive seasons and will finish 2026 with a losing record in the conference for the third consecutive year.

Unfortunately, Notre Dame is simply following the same path that other major schools have taken. Arkansas announced in April that it was closing its men’s and women’s tennis programs due to financial reasons. In future years, this will mean fewer scholarships available and no sports to play for hundreds of student-athletes across the country.

Meanwhile, the Fighting Irish are projected to spend over $30 million on their football roster this season, and that is believed to be significantly less than what some other schools are spending on their football teams.

This reflects the direction collegiate sports are going, with universities pouring money into sports that generate revenue and cutting budgets for sports programs or eliminating them altogether that do not make money.

Ronda Rousey has given her most honest account yet about what it was like to work in WWE under Vince McMahon, describing an environment defined by last-minute decisions, poor communication and constant anxiety during an interview with Complex News.

Rousey worked with WWE twice, the first time starting in 2017 and the second time until 2023. She was candid about how the experience of working under McMahon affected her ability to connect with her character.

“I felt like I was creating someone else’s image of myself,” Rousey said. “You could tell when I was allowed to write my own promos and when I wasn’t. I learned a lot from it, and I really enjoyed my time in the ring. I didn’t really enjoy being in the death throes during Vince McMahon’s reign, but there were a lot of great experiences there.”

His second stint with the company was particularly difficult. Rousey described McMahon as being out of touch with the day-to-day reality of running a product and said that the work environment had become increasingly unhealthy by that time.

“I mean, in the second round, Vince had gone too far and was even more difficult to work with, and there was a lot of internal turmoil going on in the company,” Rousey said. “It was kind of a s*** show, and no one ever knew what was going on.

“And you’d get on the field, and you’d be asked to do something that someone threw in your lap that wasn’t thought about until 15 minutes before. Everything was super last minute and not well thought out, and there was no communication, no back-and-forth.”

The psychological impact of that environment was something that Rousey addressed directly.

He said, “Any attempt to collaborate feels like we were trying to negotiate something instead of partnering together to create something great.” “And unfortunately, I love being in the ring and doing this, but the process was like a cluster f–k, sh–t show that was a lot more anxiety-inducing than it was worth.

“I just look back on it, and I just remember the anxiety of not knowing what was going on, and then at the last minute, maybe we’ll be able to get it out of our A- and have a good night, and maybe not. I was definitely Team Triple H rising up to handle it. So, I’ve heard it’s gotten a lot better since he took over things, but unfortunately, I didn’t get to experience it.”

Brock Lesnar’s retirement from WWE may not be as straightforward as it seems. PWInsider reported on Monday that, despite being moved to the alumni section of WWE.com – a page usually reserved for wrestlers outside the company – Lesnar is still listed as an active performer internally and is considered a free agent, not assigned to any specific brand.

The report does not explain why he appears on the alumni page instead of the free agent section along with Omos, AJ Lee, Paige and others. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter added context to the situation.

When the Baltimore Orioles traded for Taylor Ward earlier this offseason, it was the first major trade since the conclusion of the 2025 season. The O’s sent top pitching prospect Grayson Rodriguez to the Los Angeles Angels for a slugging outfielder. The move immediately ramped up Baltimore’s offense.

It hasn’t worked out too well for the O’s so far. They are in fourth place in the American League East with an 18–23 record. That being said, the club has scored 181 runs entering the game on Monday. This is second best in the division behind only the New York Yankees (215). Baltimore’s problem has been their pitching, where the staff has allowed a division-high 222 runs for a run differential of -41.

Ward showing unique plate discipline

Still, with all that in mind, Ward has been a stalwart player for the O’s. He has led the team offensively and led qualified hitters in every major offensive category except slugging percentage. Ward has a .262/.426/.376 slash line and .802 OPS.

But the important number to look at here is his on-base percentage. At .426, Ward leads all MLB qualified hitters in that category due to an MLB-leading 40 walks. And, despite hitting only one home run on the year, he has an above average OPS mark. Since 2020, Ward has had a solid OBP, posting numbers above .300 every year.

But this is something different. His strikeout percentage (10.7 percent) and walk percentage (21.9) are in the 100th percentile in MLB. And Ward’s whiff percentage (16.3) is in the 88th percentile. All three marks are career highs for the veteran outfielder. All of this has contributed to an above average 138 wRC+ (where 100 is average).

When Ward was traded to Baltimore, it was in hopes of adding some power to an offense that was in desperate need. The O’s also signed Pete Alonso to join him, but the duo have hit only nine home runs through 41 games. Ward has contributed only one long ball to that combination.

This is due to deficiencies in almost every underlying metric that grades power contacts. In 2025, Ward hit a career-high 36 homers. That season, his barrel percentage (13.7), hard-hit percentage (42.7) and bat speed (69.5 mph) were higher than his current 2026 numbers. So far this year, those numbers have dropped to 5.5 percent, 36.7 percent and 67.8 mph, respectively. These are some of the steepest declines in MLB.

Nevertheless, Ward has still managed to provide value for Baltimore. According to Statcast his batting run value is +7. This is above average across MLB, with Ward ranking in the 86th percentile. This is better than the 80th percentile ranking he achieved in 2025 with his high home run total. If Ward can rediscover that power, he could become one of the most dangerous all-around hitters in the entire American League.

Kevin Nash weighed in on the ongoing conversation surrounding TKO’s involvement in WWE creative, offering one of the most scathing hot takes you’ll ever hear on the latest episode of the Click This Podcast. Nash’s reasoning is simple: Triple H knows what he’s doing, and the executives above him don’t need to get involved.

“(Paul) Levesque has taken over, and everyone loves the direction that this Levesque guy is taking the new flagship WWE program in the Netflix era,” Nash said. ‘And then lo and behold, just like every other business on earth, the bullshit people on top of that who have no clue except how to get paid more, people higher up the food chain decide to start their business where they don’t need it.’

“We’re going to put this guy in. Let’s put this guy in. How about him in the main event? What if we put this guy in? Why would we put that guy in?’ We’ve got a $500 million deal that involves this guy. While we’re at it, let’s make the field look like NASCAR.”

Nash clarified that his criticism was directed at those above Triple H in the TKO structure. Not Levesque himself.

“It doesn’t take anything away from Paul Levesque, because Paul Levesque still knows what he’s doing. If anyone out there feels like this, maybe thinks this might apply to them, how about leaving the f–king company alone? Get your f–king nose out of creative.”

Triple H took over creative control of WWE in 2022 and received widespread praise for the initial direction of the product under his leadership. However, last month, TKO President and COO Mark Shapiro publicly claimed that TKO has full control over WWE creative. WWE’s recent storylines have had mixed reactions, with fans pointing to TKO’s outside interference in the booking process as a contributing factor.

Kawhi Leonard’s days as a Los Angeles Clipper are done. one way or another.

We are still waiting for the NBA’s decision on how to punish the Clippers for the alleged ‘cap rigging’ scandal. This could potentially void Leonard’s contract (with one year remaining on $50 million). But even if not, it appears that Kawhi’s trade from La La Land is certain this summer.

Rumors have been flying around in recent weeks, but the latest information from insider Sean Deveney seems to put the nail in Kawhi’s coffin in LA.

According to a source close to Deveney, the Clippers will “move into a rebuild” this summer based on securing the No. 5 pick in the upcoming NBA draft.

“I think you’ll see that they really move forward with rebuilding this summer, and they can probably get it done relatively quickly.”

The Clips got a huge lead on that young move before the trade deadline. They added exciting young backcourt players Benedict Mathurin, 23, of the Indiana Pacers, and Darius Garland, 26, of the Cleveland Cavaliers. He moved ahead of veterans Ivica Zubac and James Harden in the process.

Next, a perfect move to stay young in a trade to send Leonard to a team that needs a veteran superstar with championship credentials.

3 teams named as top summer contenders for Kawhi Leonard

Devenney specifically names three teams that are renowned as prime contenders for superstar-hunting Leonard:

• Miami Heat
• new York Knicks
• Golden State Warriors

The Warriors attempted to trade for any big star they could acquire at the deadline, with rumored targets including Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant, and Kawhi. They’ll try again this summer, potentially on all three fronts.

Brett Siegel of Clutch Points writes, “Trading for a big-name star is extremely relevant for owner Joe Lacob and the Warriors.”

All three teams are also in the running in the Giannis sweepstakes, but Kawhi will also be a target.

Leonard returned to the top of his game last season. He proved that even at the age of 34, after years of injury troubles, he can still be one of the top players in the NBA. Kawhi averaged a career-high 27.9 points along with 6.4 boards and 3.6 assists per game in 65 games.

He is a two-time Finals MVP, in 2014 with the San Antonio Spurs and in 2019 with the Toronto Raptors.

The Toronto Blue Jays have struggled to get where they are now. The reigning winners of the American League pennant have struggled to start the year. Their stars are not playing well and many of their players are injured. This impacted the club dramatically, causing them to fall to third place in the AL East with an 18–22 record.

Barger’s heralded return

That’s why the return of Addison Barger was such wonderful news. With 21 home runs in the regular season and a .480 batting average in the World Series, he was a key part of last season’s team. It was hoped that his return would prove to be a catalyst to get the Jays back to their winning ways.

Sadly, it was not to be. Barger played in just one game before being placed on the 10-day injured list due to right elbow inflammation. It’s unclear how long he’ll be out, but his absence is notable for Toronto. On Saturday, he had the fastest outfield assist in MLB this season (101.2 mph) to get Jorge Soler out at the plate on a sacrifice fly attempt.

His return can’t come soon enough for the Jays. Despite his disappointing .045 batting average this season, it’s important to note the small sample size (22 at-bats) — it’s not enough to say that Barger can’t repeat his breakout numbers from 2025.

Bulk relief role is not working

On the other hand, swingman Eric Lauer was designated for assignment after a poor start to 2026. He is pitching to a 6.69 ERA in 36 1/3 innings and has an unusually high 1.49 WHIP.

Similar to Barger, Lauer had a breakout 2025 campaign. The left-hander posted a career-low 3.18 ERA in 104 2/3 innings. Despite switching between starting and relief roles he was not quiet about his desire to remain as the starter. With the Blue Jays dealing with several injuries to their starting group, Lauer was mostly granted his wishes, but still had to prove himself. He has not done this well.

While the DFA wasn’t entirely unexpected in that regard, it appears to have been a much-needed change for the Blue Jays as they try to right the ship and take charge in a Central American league. It remains to be seen whether they can do so, but these moves at least mark an attempt to do so.

Who is taking his place?

In the same move, outfielder Yohendrick Pinango was recalled from Triple-A and right-hander Yariel Rodriguez was optioned to Toronto’s roster. Neither have an incredible amount of major-league experience, yet they have impressed so far.

Pinango has played in 10 games for the Jays this year, posting a .423/.444/.462 slash line. He has been regarded as more of a depth guy than a regular contributor in Triple-A. However, it’s possible that he could earn a bigger role with the club if he continues to post these types of numbers. He has put up more practical (though still impressive) statistics in Triple-A, slashing .288/.370/.488 in 22 games this year.

Rodriguez has spent a lot of time with Toronto over the last two years. The righty started 21 games for the club in ’24 and pitched in relief in ’25. His results were mostly solid, although he was better as a back-end starter. His performance has been very similar to Lauer’s, posting a 4.47 ERA in his starts in ’24 and a 3.08 mark in the bullpen in ’25.

He has impressed in the Minors, with a 2.63 ERA in 11 games this season. Rodriguez only started one of those games, so it seems likely he will serve as a big reliever similar to Lauer. But how it is deployed remains to be seen. If both can perform well, it would be a big boost for the Blue Jays.

Henry Bolte recently took the world of minor league baseball by going 12-for-12. He had five extra-base hits in Friday’s game before posting another 5-for-5 game the next day. That performance has contributed to a .348/.418/.658 slash line and 1.076 OPS in 37 games with the Athletics’ Triple-A team.

According to sources told by Jonathan Mayo of MLB Pipeline, the A’s are going to call up Bolte and give him a chance to remain with the big league club. The Athletics already have some of the best young hitters in the game in Nick Kurtz, Shea Langeliers and Jacob Wilson. Adding Bolt to that crop could put them in legitimate contention.

A are competing..?

It’s hard to believe, but yes, athletics is in controversy right now. They have managed to make it to the top of the struggling American League West division. The club has a respectable record of 21–19, which puts them two games ahead of the second-place Texas Rangers. If the season ended today, they would actually receive a bye into the postseason, which would be the second-best record to the AL division leaders.

That’s mostly due to that young offensive core. The A’s are in the top ten of MLB teams in nearly every offensive category, including batting average (.249), on-base percentage (.326), slugging percentage (.400) and OPS (.726). This has helped cover the lack of viable pitching on the Athletics roster. The pitching staff has a combined 4.42 ERA on the year (21st in MLB).

Kurtz and Langeliers titled that group. Despite getting off to a slow start in his sophomore campaign, Kurtz has heated up since then. The 2025 AL Rookie of the Year has a ridiculous .841 OPS with a .414 OBP. To put that number in perspective, Barry Bonds’ career OBP is .444. Langeliers ultimately seemed to be successful, posting a .336 batting average with 11 home runs. The backstop has an OPS over 1,000 for the first time in his career.

Bolte’s spot on the roster

The outfield is mostly set up for the Athletics, with Lawrence Butler, Denzel Clark and Tyler Soderstrom making up the starting group. But that group has been seriously lacking in aggression and has posted a combined .191 batting average. Carlos Cortes and Jack Gelof have stepped up in their place. Cortes has an incredible .355/.408/.570 slash line with a .978 OPS.

With that in mind, Bolte has plenty of opportunities to get reps despite a crowded outfield. But if he struggles early, the A’s can always send him back to Triple-A. Bolte is only 22 and has plenty of time to develop. But if he can contribute at the big league level, it could go a long way in helping the club win its first division title since 2013 (not including the shortened 2020 campaign).

Most athletes who have ever played football would love to have a career like Russell Wilson. After all, how many third-round picks can say they earned the title of franchise quarterback as a rookie?

Wilson did so and helped the Seattle Seahawks win the organization’s first Super Bowl in his second season of play. He did all this despite being short at 5 feet 11 inches and earning 10 Pro Bowl accolades along the way.

While Wilson had a stellar early career, he has come back down to earth recently, leading his team to just one playoff appearance since 2021. This comes after seven playoff appearances in their first eight seasons. Although the 37-year-old may no longer be viewed as a high-end starter, there is no doubt that he is still a capable quarterback who also showed game-changing ability with the Giants last season.

He has already received a contract offer from the New York Jets, but Wilson is also said to be considering TV opportunities. Still, if Wilson really wants to play but isn’t impressed by the Jets’ offer, who else could sign him this offseason?

The Patriots have definitely found their franchise quarterback, so they are now filling out their depth chart with developmental prospects. His primary backup, Tommy DeVito, is a mix of both, but he may not have much untapped potential at this point. If Drake Mays gets hurt, are the Patriots really confident DeVito can lead a winning effort in multiple games? Wilson will definitely improve their chances.

The Lions continue to add Teddy Bridgewater, who could be excellent in helping the team during game-to-game preparation for their upcoming opponents. However, can he effectively lead the same high-powered offense that Jared Goff can? no way. Still, Wilson may have a better chance of maintaining the Lions’ explosive scoring attack, and he will also benefit from playing inside the domed stadium of Ford Field.

buffalo bill

When Josh Allen is healthy, the Buffalo Bills are Super Bowl contenders. If he isn’t, and backup Kyle Allen has to lead the charge, the Bills are effectively screwed. While no one can replace Allen’s production as a passer and rusher, Wilson may be their best bet to help in a pinch. Plus, he’ll still get a chance to live in New York, as he did last year while playing for the Giants.

A reunion? We can’t completely rule it out as Aaron Rodgers is still unsigned in free agency. Wilson led the Steelers to the playoffs once; Who’s to say he can’t do it again with Mike McCarthy pushing his buttons? This result would only make sense if Rodgers surprisingly decided not to sign in Pittsburgh, but for some reason, he still hasn’t agreed to a new contract.

Have the Broncos burned bridges with Wilson? It’s possible the ice hasn’t melted yet for Sean Payton and GM George Payton. Still, they recently expressed interest in adding a quarterback while Bo Nix recovers from surgery, and if for some reason he’s not ready for Week 1, Wilson would be a huge upgrade over Jarrett Stidham.

The Green Bay Packers signed wide receiver Jaden Reed to a three-year contract extension in April, ensuring that another key part of their offense will be around for years to come. With summer practice approaching, we may see contract extensions for some other Packers players.

Let’s take a look at what contract extensions could look like for Tucker Craft, Lucas Van Ness, Devonte Wyatt and Christian Watson.

If Tucker Craft doesn’t suffer an ACL injury in Week 9 against the Carolina Panthers, there’s a good chance he could have received some second-team All-Pro votes in 2025. Green Bay’s standout tight end totaled 489 receiving yards with 6 touchdowns in eight games. Among tight ends with more than 40 targets, he led his teammates in yards per reception (15.3) and yards per route run (2.56). Although there is some additional risk to Kraft due to his torn ACL, it makes sense to sign him to a long-term deal now rather than waiting until his contract expires. Given that Kyle Pitts recently signed the franchise tag at $15.045 million, the cost of an extension would likely be high. We think a four-year deal that makes Kraft one of the three highest-paid tight ends in the NFL can be accomplished, with Green Bay working in bonus structures depending on Kraft’s health.

• Prediction: 4 years, $68 million ($17 million AAV) and $40 million total guaranteed

Selected by Green Bay with the 28th overall selection in the 2022 NFL Draft, defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt has taken some time to really establish himself. He was on pace to record more than five sacks in a season for the third consecutive year before suffering a fibula and torn ligaments in his ankle. Assuming he makes a full recovery, Green Bay will have an interior pass-rushing specialist who is still a bargain at his fifth-year option salary of $13.922 million. The rate of pass-rushing interior tackles has increased in recent years, demonstrated by the fact that 13 defensive tackles now have deals worth more than $20 million per season. Realistically, should Wyatt beat out the Javon Kinlow deal ($45 million over three years) by a wide margin, Zack Siler ($21.333 million AAV) could potentially be a high-end target for a deal.

• Prediction: 3 years, $62 million ($20.6 million AAV)

Christian Watson

It’s fair to say the Packers wish they had signed Christian Watson to a contract extension before Alec Pierce re-signed with the Indianapolis Colts. Watson has durability issues working against him, but he has also put up 1,231 receiving yards in his last 25 games over the past two seasons and averaged 19.2 yards per reception. He is entering a contract year and the fact that Green Bay did not use any draft capital on a receiver suggests that Brian Gutekunst has long-term plans for Watson in Matt LaFleur’s offense. We believe a deal could be reached this summer, but it would cost much more than some estimates.

• Prediction: 3 years, $85.5 million, with $65 million total guaranteed

Lucas Van Ness hasn’t exactly lived up to the expectations the Packers front office had for him when he was selected with the 13th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. In 43 career games, he has only managed 34 pressures, 23 QB hits, 17 tackles for loss, and 8.5 sacks. However, Green Bay exercised its option for the 2027 season with $13.8 million fully guaranteed. It certainly shows that the coaching staff still has a lot of confidence in him, especially after new defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon took over. We think something similar could be done with Jordan Love in 2023, when he was signed to a one-year extension.

The NHL has announced two fines following Game 3 of the second-round series between the Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres.

The first was Sabers forward Beck Malensteen, who ran down Habs goaltender Jacob Dobbs in the second period. Malenstein never attempted to stop, hitting Dobbs at full speed in what looked like a clear attempt to injure the rookie netminder.

“I think sometimes you can move the puck around too much and you’re looking for the right opportunity on the power play,” Killorn said. “I think for us, it’s about getting more chances on net and more shots.”

Seneca’s blast from the point somehow went under the pads of Vegas goalie Carter Hart. Killorn then received a pass from Seneca and executed a give-and-go with Cutter Gauthier, who had three assists, before beating Hart on a stoppable shot on the power-play tally.

“I think the first three games I wasn’t getting enough shots,” Gauthier said. “Fortunately, people were able to bury one. I made a few passes.”

Anaheim’s depth also increased in Game 4

The Ducks became more physical in Game 4 with the Golden Knights. But they also got contributions from key role players.

The Ducks’ fourth line was on the ice for Granlund’s goal, with wing Jeffrey Viel getting the only assist. Last season, only Tennessee and Miami allowed opponent quarterbacks to complete passes at a higher clip than the Raiders, who tied Dallas for the third-highest opponent completion percentage in the league.

Traydon Stookes highlights the versatility of all four players

Treydan Stukes can rotate at nickelback and safety. At Arizona, he defended in man and zone, played the line of scrimmage and back end, and graded out at 90.1 overall last season – sixth best among cornerbacks nationally.

He allowed a 34.4 passer rating when targeted.

“I’m going to learn both (positions) and wherever I can fit in best and help the team win some games, that’s what I’m going to do,” Stukes said during rookie minicamp.

The Raiders traded down two spots and still took advantage of first-round talent to send them to the second round. Four interceptions and six pass breakups last year show why this matters.

Mehta announced the hiring of Braden Burch as Assistant General Manager, adding significant experience and championship pedigree to his hockey operations department.

1. Tyler Reddick (First: 1)

Tyler Reddick is the best driver in NASCAR right now. Through 12 races, he leads the Cup Series in average starting position (6.6), wins (five), top-five finishes (eight), and average finishing position (5.7), and his worst finish was 15th. With a 129-point lead over second place and a 145-point gap between Reddick and third place, they seem destined to win the regular season title.

2. Denny Hamlin (First: 2)

Road courses have never been Denny Hamlin’s strength. He’s said that for him, finishing in the top 10 on a road course is the equivalent of finishing in the top five on an oval, so we’ll count a 16th-place finish at Watkins Glen on Sunday as a top 10 finish. Most importantly for Hamlin, he leads more than 100 laps in Cup Series laps (624), and only three drivers have led more than 600 laps. 3. Chris Buescher (First: 4)

He ranks fourth in the Cup Series in laps led (249), but what stands out most about driving the No. 12 car this season is his number of Cup-leading passes. It’s really been pit road that has kept this team from getting there with Reddick and Hamlin. If these things get sorted out, Blaney is a championship contender.

5. Chase Elliott (First: 3)

Both car setup (27th starting position) and strategy (24th place finish) didn’t work out for the No. 9 team at Watkins Glen. Chase Elliott, like every other Hendrick Motorsports driver, was a complete non-factor. He already has two wins this season and is a great choice to win the title, but there is some concern that Elliott has already finished outside the top 20 three times before the halfway point of the regular season.

6. Ty Gibbs (previously: unranked)

After consecutive finishes outside the top 33, Ty Gibbs took advantage of a trip to the road course with a third-place finish. It marked Gibbs’ sixth top-five finish this season, second most in the Cup Series. Although he has the benefit of racing with great equipment and an excellent crew, he is ultimately making the most of it.

7. Austin Cindric (First: 9)

It was a slow start to the season for Austin Cindric. In the first five races, his average finishing position was 29.0 and he scored more than 20 points in a race only once. Although it took some time, the No. 2 crew figured things out. Over the last six races, Cindric ranks fifth in average finishing position (11.3) thanks to three top-10s and a top-20 finish in each race. He has averaged 29.5 points per race in that span. 8. Carson Hocevar (First: 5)

It should come as no surprise that Carson Hocevar didn’t fare well at Watkins Glen. The only attention the No. 77 car really received was for the incident involving Josh Berry. The 28th-place finish at Watkins Glen came after six races, where he had an average finishing position of 8.3 and his first Cup Series win. We think this year is going to be another trip to victory lane for him.

9. Kyle Larson (1st: 7)

Kyle Larson has gone a full year without winning a Cup Series race. Over the last 36 races, he ranks only 11th in average finishing position (15.7), and over the last six races he ranks 16th in average finish (18.5). The No. 5 car has two DNFs this season and has finished outside the top 20 five times, including the last three races.

10. Daniel Suarez (Previously: Unranked)

Let’s remember that coming into the season, there were legitimate questions about whether Daniel Suarez had a future in the Cup Series. He has had an excellent year with Spire Motorsports. Suárez’s 15.00 average finishing position would be the highest mark so far in his Cup Series career, and he is headed for more top-10s and top-five finishes than last year. Just as importantly, he has remained consistent with the ninth-best average finishing position (13.7) over the last six races.

The Anaheim Ducks defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 in Game 4 at Honda Center on Sunday night, tying the Western Conference Second Round series 2-2.

Cutter Gauthier had three assists, and the Ducks finally got a power play when they needed it most.

Beckett Seneca, Alex Killorn, Mikael Granlund and Ian Moore scored for Anaheim. Lucas Dostal made 18 saves, and the Ducks improved to 4–0 in these playoff losses.

Vegas is known for its many high-profile magic shows, with William Carlson performing magic tricks such as Shin Lim delivering a pass to Brett Howden for a goal. Karlsson was the first to forecheck and got the puck on his stick under the goal line. As he was enduring a big hit from Jacob Trouba, he somehow delivered a backhand pass from an extremely tight area to Howden (7), who beat his man in front of the net and Karlsson was able to chip the pass over Dostal to tie the game at two. The goal came at 4:04 and Howden tied Minnesota’s Matt Boldy for most postseason goals. Mitch Marner picked up a secondary assist, moving him ahead of Minnesota’s Kirill Kaprizov for most points in the postseason with 15 points. Marner finished the night with three points, giving him seven points in his last two games.

Anaheim got its third power play opportunity of the game at the end of the second frame and solved the Vegas penalty kill for the second time in the game. Is there some tension between Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics? Former NBA star and Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady recently said on his podcast that there were “deep issues” between Brown and the Celtics, although team president Brad Stevens and Brown himself denied this.

The team performed brilliantly in the first round of this season’s playoffs, taking a 3–1 series lead against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Is Jaylen Brown looking to move on? He described it as his most enjoyable season in the NBA. That’s saying something since they won the championship in 2024.
