Rumors regarding the Philadelphia Eagles have been hot and heavy throughout the offseason. That’s usually the norm for general manager Howie Roseman, who runs the show.

The Eagles also pulled off a semi-blockbuster on draft weekend by landing Pro Bowl pass rusher Jonathan Greenard of the Minnesota Vikings. Still, the worst-kept secret is that the Eagles probably didn’t make the deal.

The most talked about trade in the NFL right now, and for many months now, is the expected move to potentially send three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver AJ Brown to the New England Patriots. It is widely expected that Brown will be dealt, but the actual destination has not been decided.

According to ESPN’s NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, it is “somewhat understood” that Brown will be traded at some point, possibly on or after June 1. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is gathering teammates for a workout, but it’s no surprise Brown isn’t there.

Fowler said, “You like how I put it in there? Let me put it this way, AJ Brown is not at these workouts, so it’s making sense right now.”

Fowler also said that DeVonta Smith is now the Eagles’ new No. 1 receiver. Obviously, that title belonged to the Browns, but Smith was actually the team’s leading receiver in 2025, the first time since the Browns arrived via trade in 2022.

In other words, it appears that everyone associated with the Eagles is operating with the mindset that Brown will not be with Philadelphia in 2026. It remains to be seen whether that will be in New England or another destination.

The Minnesota Vikings had a busy offseason, looking to replace one general manager. They also shed several major salaries, but the Vikings believe they have found low-cost replacements for all of them.

While Jaune Jennings was more on the spendy side of things, even his $8 million base salary comes in at a bargain price, considering he recorded 975 yards and six touchdowns in 2024. Still just 28 years old, Jennings is expected to take over for last year’s WR3 Jalen Naylor. While Jennings isn’t as fast as “Speedy”, he will be a better run blocker, and he is far more adept as a receiver.

Yet, even more than signing Jennings, the Vikings believe they made a steal by adding Kyler Murray at a bargain price of just $1.3 million, according to ESPN’s NFL insider Jeremy Fowler. Although he has yet to play any actual games for Minnesota, the coaching staff is “thrilled” with Murray so far.

The Vikings continue to paint a picture where Murray will compete with JJ McCarthy for the starting QB job in 2026. Still, on the outside, most expected the job to be lost to Murray, meaning McCarthy would have to come back significantly improved from his rookie year.

Still, Murray has proven to be far more so in live games, which will give him the edge until McCarthy proves otherwise. This can never happen. If that happens, Minnesota will have a nice problem with two competent starters instead of no one at all.

The Montreal Canadiens (5-4) will face the Buffalo Sabers (5-3) in Game 3 of their second-round series on Sunday, with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

Of course, this is not a sustainable situation, but if Caufield and Slafkowski return to their scoring ways, having primary, secondary and tertiary scoring available will be a game changer for the Canadiens.

Plus, there’s a good chance he’ll get a chance to play at some point, as it’s not like the Jets are expected to be competitive. The question is, do the Jets want someone who has more long-term upside?

Also rumored to be considering retirement after spending the last two seasons as Matthew Stafford’s backup, Garoppolo will turn 35 in November. Bradley’s breakout has been amazing to watch, although it does seem a bit on the lucky side. His xERA (3.88) is a whole lot higher than his actual ERA. This suggests he may be getting some help from the baseball gods, although Bradley’s xERA is also better than any mark he put up in his previous MLB season.

Bradley reported pain to the Twins staff shortly after his most recent start against the Washington Nationals. He was flown back to Minnesota and had an MRI. Manager Derek Shelton has said that the injury does not affect his pitching, but it does affect other activities. This appears to be more of a cautious move that will greatly impact Bradley’s entire season.

This is great news for the twins. They lost Pablo Lopez before the season started due to Tommy John surgery. Along with Lopez, Mick Abel was ruled out with an elbow injury. Those complications have created serious concerns in the Minnesota rotation. Thankfully, Bradley should be back soon to help address those concerns.

In the same move, Bradley’s spot on the roster was replaced by righty Travis Adams. Adams has not scored a run in his last two matches, but before that he was tagged for six runs. He could potentially be used as a bulk relief or swingman role for the club.

The Green Bay Packers have one of the best rosters in the NFL and will once again be one of the youngest teams in 2026. With that comes the opportunity for a breakout season, like we saw from Tucker Craft last year.

Let’s take a look at four players on the Packers’ roster who could have breakthrough seasons in 2026.

Jordan Morgan, left tackle

Taken by the Packers with the 25th overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, Jordan Morgan hasn’t been much of a standout in his first two seasons. The 6-foot-5 offensive lineman played only 186 offensive snaps in his rookie season, and was rated as a below-average player in 749 snaps last season.

The real problem appears to be that the team moved him around a lot, deploying him at both left (51 snaps) and right tackle (148) and right (358) and left guard (191). This never really allowed him to settle into one spot and focus on playing, which he finally got a chance to do this offseason. Projected to be the starter at left tackle, we think Morgan can be as effective as Rasheed Walker was for Green Bay.

Trey Smack, Kicker

The Packers’ draft class in 2026 doesn’t include anyone other than Trey Smacks, who is trusted to play the lion’s share of snaps from the jump. So, this really leaves Smack as the only newbie who can prove himself to be a fans’ favorite by the end of the season.

For one thing, it says a lot about a kicker prospect when general manager Brian Gutekunst is willing to trade multiple Round 7 picks to nab him. It’s also a testament to what Smack showed in his first practice at rookie camp that Green Bay released Brandon McManus just months after giving him a $1 million roster bonus. We echo what Matt Stover said about Smack, and we think the big impact is immediate.

Matthew Golden, wide receiver

Matthew Golden not seeing much on the field in his rookie season was interpreted by some as an indictment on the young pass-catcher. In reality, it speaks to the Packers’ depth at wide receiver and how the team has slowly brought in offensive weapons. Now heading into his sophomore season, we are expecting a big leap from Golden in 2026.

Consider his performance in the Wild Card round – 84 receiving yards and a touchdown on four receptions – as a glimpse of what he’s capable of. He’s demonstrated in limited snaps that he can get open (2.07 target separation, 9th in the NFL), and he’s naturally explosive. While Christian Watson and Tucker Kraft are still the primary options for Jordan Love, we think it’s possible for Golden to have over 700 receiving yards and 5-7 touchdowns.

Evan Williams, Security

Evan Williams is already a key piece in the Packers’ defense, and complements 24-year-old All-Pro safety Xavier McKinney nicely. We’re going to see Williams take the next step forward in his career this fall, possibly even earning his first Pro Bowl selection. Already strong against the run, Williams could set career highs in interceptions, tackles for loss and pass deflections in 2026.

The San Francisco Giants made a major change to their roster, trading starting catcher Patrick Bailey to the Cleveland Giants. The move immediately creates space for recently called up Jesus Rodriguez to take over in San Francisco.

As for the guards, it adds depth to a team that already had three starters in David Frye, Austin Hedges and Bo Naylor, but Naylor’s struggles this season kept him off the roster. He was sent to Triple-A in an effort to improve Cleveland’s defensive issues behind the plate.

Is Bailey’s best behind him?

This is a fair question. Backstop, some of the best (if not the best) games though. Best in the game) defensive metrics, has never been a particularly powerful bat. Bailey has a career .224 batting average and has hit only 22 home runs over three seasons in MLB.

However, the thing is. For a catcher, that’s not terrible production. This is about average. For any other offensive player, this is a terrible mark. But catchers in baseball exist in a strange place. As long as their defense and their ability to manage their pitching staff is solid, most teams are willing to attack aggressively.

That being said, it’s always great to have a catcher who can rake. Look at guys like Will Smith, Cal Raley or even former Giants catcher Buster Posey. They are assets to their teams in many ways besides defense, but they are anomalies when it comes to catching groups in MLB.

Underlying metrics hint at potential change

Bailey has struggled at the plate for a long time, but behind the dish he is ahead of everyone else. He has won two gold medals, has a lifetime .992 fielding percentage and is ranked in the 100th percentile via Statcast in framing and pop time (1.86 seconds). He is a key catcher for whichever team he is on.

But can he kill? It is possible. Bailey has had a disappointing start with San Francisco this season. So far, he has put up a .146/.213/.183 slash line. This resulted in a ridiculously poor 16 wRC+ (where 100 is average). But, despite that line, there is hope here. Bailey’s weighting on base average (wOBA) is .190, but his expected weighting (xwOBA) is a more respectable .283 mark.

this is one Big Difference. It’s possible that Cleveland is betting on Bailey’s bat to play out as the underlying metrics suggest. Either way, the club receives an elite backstop to handle its pitching staff.

It’s safe to say that this season hasn’t started as well as it could have for the Giants. In the first year of new manager Tony Vitello’s tenure, the club has a record of 15–23 and are in fifth place in the National League West entering Saturday. It’s hard to see a club as talented as this one struggling so much.

But the recent call-ups of top prospects Bryce Aldridge and Jesus Rodriguez have signaled a change for San Francisco. It seems the group now wants to use this moment to give their young players time to acclimate to MLB. Barring injury or an unexpected trade, they could benefit next season with Aldridge and Rodriguez joining the roster.

Wilkinson’s stint in the minors offers hope

It’s not a perfect reconstruction, but it’s something like that. The trade of Bailey for Matt Wilkinson and a draft pick further adds to this argument. Wilkinson is a very talented young pitcher at the Double-A level in the Minors. So far this season, he has a 1.59 ERA in 28 1/3 innings. That performance could soon get him promoted to the Triple-A level in the Giants’ system.

It’s also possible that, if San Francisco falls even further out of contention, Wilkinson could be called up late in the season to get some big league reps. The possibility of this still remains to be seen, but it is certainly a possibility.

Either way, this is a move that should be encouraging to Giants fans, not the other way around. It’s not like President of Baseball Operations Buster Posey is saying he has already quit the year before, it’s a move that seems prudent. San Francisco is expecting its young players to step up and prove themselves. Only time will tell if that strategy pays off.

NASCAR’s silly season is just a few months away and, while Michael McDowell isn’t one of the biggest names being talked about, the veteran driver believes he knows who will be his successor.

Speaking to reporters at Watkins Glen, McDowell called Tristan McKee “the real deal” and believes he will be the one to take over driving the No. 71 car for Spire Motorsports when McDowell retires.

At the beginning of the year, McKee was ranked 14th among the top NASCAR prospects in 2025 by Bob Pockross of Fox Sports. He became the second-youngest ARCA winner at Watkins Glen in 2025, just two years after he became the youngest driver to win in the CARS Tour Pro Late Model division.

Notably, McKee won’t turn 16 until August. The Virginia native has already raced in the ARCA Menards Series and ARCA Menards Series East, but although he is a rising star in NASCAR, he still needs to prove himself at the Truck Series and O’Reilly Auto Parts Series levels.

Realistically, Mackie is at least three years away from getting a chance to ride full-time in the Cup Series and even that timeline will be longer.

Investigating Michael McDowell’s future in NASCAR

McDowell, who will turn 42 in December, clearly has no intentions of retiring in the near future. The longtime Cup Series driver intends to remain behind the wheel of the No. 71 for several more seasons, but that doesn’t seem possible either.

Part of the problem for McDowell is the disappointing results. His last win came in the Verizon 200 at the Brickyard in 2023. What’s more troubling for Spire Motorsports is that their results are getting worse every year.

In 2024, McDowell achieved seven top-10 finishes with six pole positions and 256 laps led, finishing the season with a 14.58 average starting position and 21.31 average finishing position. A year later, McDowell led only 96 laps with six top-10s and two poles, and his average starting position dropped to 15.69.

The situation has become even worse in 2026. Through 11 races, McDowell ranks 23rd in points (189), 18th in average starting position (19.0) and 24th in average finishing position (21.5).

Spire has made it clear in recent years that it wants to become one of the top teams in the Cup Series. Carson Hocevar, who scored his first Cup Series win at Talladega, is emerging as a superstar, and Daniel Suarez is enjoying a breakout year in his first season with Spire.

McDowell is undoubtedly the worst performing driver at Spire Motorsports at the moment. Ultimately, if his contract expires after the 2026 season, it wouldn’t be at all surprising if Spier decides to find someone else to drive the No. 71 car next year.

The Los Angeles Rams made two of the boldest moves in the NFL this offseason by trading for All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie and taking quarterback Ty Simpson in the first round. It looks like another big move could be coming later this year.

The Athletic’s Nate Atkins reports that the Rams could consider trading for All-Pro edge rusher Max Crosby in October if the Las Vegas Raiders make him available.

Atkins said the Raiders organization has improved its relationship with Crosby. As a result of the Baltimore Ravens withdrawing from a deal for Crosby, the Raiders appear to be committed to keeping him for the regular season.

If the team doesn’t live up to expectations and isn’t in the mix for a playoff spot, Las Vegas’ stance on trading Crosby could certainly change during the season. While the All-Pro edge rusher won’t be returning a pair of first-round picks, the Raiders could still get premium draft capital for him.

Los Angeles Rams taking unique approach on trade

One problem Las Vegas will likely face if it makes another Crosby trade is the value teams are offering on the 2027 NFL Draft. This is viewed as a deeper class of prospects with more high-level talent than the 2026 class and potentially one of the best pools of talent in years.

As a result, teams have been more reluctant to trade 2027 draft picks. While this stance is shared by most of the league, that is not the case in Los Angeles.

Atkins wrote that the Rams “want to be” one of the very few teams willing to trade 2027 draft capital. This would give them potential leverage in trade negotiations, especially as teams in rebuilds are placing more emphasis on picks in next year’s class.

The Seattle Seahawks were put up for sale at just the right time, leading to a dominant victory in the Super Bowl and turning the franchise into a perennial contender. It is expected that this will be a record breaking deal.

ESPN’s Seth Wickersham reported that the Seahawks are expected to be sold for a little more than $9 billion, breaking the NFL’s record for the highest sale price ever.

In 2022, the Denver Broncos were sold for $4.65 billion to a group that also included Walmart heir Rob Walton. A year later, Josh Harris led the group that purchased the Washington Commanders for $6.05 billion.

It’s notable that the estimated $9 billion price tag is considered weaker than many owners around the NFL were expecting. When the Eagles were originally put up for sale, the league reportedly expected the franchise to be sold for more than $10 billion in 2025, to match how much the Los Angeles Lakers were sold for.

Complicating factors in the Seahawks’ sale process

While the Seahawks are the defending Super Bowl champions and are located in a great media market with a strong fan base, there are a few factors complicating a potential deal.

Mainly, there are plenty of billionaires who have both the liquidity to purchase an NFL franchise and the interest in doing so. According to league rules, at least 30 percent of the bid must be cash as advance payment. With an estimated cost of $9 billion, this means a majority owner would need to put up $3 billion to gain the league’s approval.

Partnerships with private equity firms could help in that regard, but those funds can only have a 10 percent stake in an NFL franchise. The league won’t approve private equity funds to buy a stake in a franchise until 2024, but they’re still capped at that 10 percent mark.

Additionally, there is a high chance that the NBA will add an expansion franchise in Seattle in the coming years. It would cost between $7 billion and $10 billion, making it a potentially comparable or even more expensive option for billionaires looking to acquire major equity in a pro sports team in Seattle.

Once the Seahawks were sold, the proceeds would go to Paul G. Will be given to the Allen Family Foundation and then distributed among the many charities and organizations that the late Allen supported.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been waiting for months for quarterback Aaron Rodgers to decide whether he will play in the 2026 NFL season. Just as a solution was in sight, the story has reportedly taken another turn.

K Mark Kaboli Pat McAfee Show reported that, as far as his knowledge, “no meeting is scheduled or expected” between Rodgers and the Steelers organization.

93.7 The Fan reported Thursday that Rodgers will visit Pittsburgh in the coming days and is expected to sign a contract. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said that while the visit was taking place, there was no indication of a deal being made.

Additionally, Steelers general manager Omar Khan came forward on Friday and said he was not aware of Rodgers’ whereabouts. This is consistent with Mark Caboli’s reporting that everyone he spoke to in Pittsburgh said they had not seen Rodgers and were not aware of a possible meeting.

Examining the Steelers’ situation with Aaron Rodgers

At the beginning of the offseason, it seemed like the Steelers organization and head coach Mike McCarthy were willing to be patient with Rodgers. The understanding was that the future Hall of Famer would take some time off this offseason and eventually return to the team.

However, there have been signs recently that Pittsburgh is losing patience with the waiting game. The team used a rare “right of first refusal tender” on Rodgers in April. That means Pittsburgh can match any offer he gets, and he can only sign with Pittsburgh when NFL training camps start this summer.

The life of former Cleveland Browns No. 1 pick Johnny Manziel took another strange turn this week.

Manziel has one of the strangest stories in the history of pro sports. In 2012, the Texas native took college football by storm with one of the best freshman seasons of all-time. In his first year at Texas A&M, he was not only All-American and SEC Offensive Player of the Year, but also the first freshman to win the “Johnny Football” Heisman Trophy.

He completed 69.9% of his passes as a sophomore, throwing for 4,114 yards, rushing for 759 more and scoring 46 total touchdowns. Despite being only 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds, his spirited play led to him being taken 22nd overall in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Browns. Then things went downhill rapidly.

A wild party life and severe lack of dedication during game week quickly proved that the star, barely out of his teens, was not ready for the NFL. Then, when domestic violence allegations surfaced in 2016, the Heisman Trophy winner was out of the league after just two seasons.

Since opting out, he has played for the Canadian Football League (CFL), Alliance of American Football (AAF) and then Fan Controlled Football (FCF) a few years ago. He has been unable to recapture the success or money-making opportunities he enjoyed a decade ago.

Johnny Manziel set to do boxing bout at UFC Apex this month

That’s why he’s started venturing away from the field, including owning a bar, podcasting, and reality TV. Well, it looks like he is planning a comeback to sports soon, but not football. According to ESPN’s Andreas Hell, he will instead step into the boxing ring to take on the impressive Bob Menery inside the UFC Apex later this month (May 23).

“The fight will be promoted by Kik streamer Adin Ross’ brand Risk Promotions, which is known for pitting celebrities against content creators in boxing matches,” reports Hale.

UFC CEO Dana White has shown great interest in the fight because of his ongoing feud with Menary. Chelsea rumors won’t go away

The newspaper reports that Galatasaray are currently frontrunners for Jonathan Rowe.

They are ready to send Noah Lang back to Napoli and want a replacement. Rowe is on their list thanks to a season which has served as a ‘powerful springboard’ for him. The 23-year-old has seven goals and four assists in 41 games.

But Galatasaray are not the only ones interested. There could also be an English offensive ‘especially Chelsea’. They scouted the winger with Manchester United last month.

Bologna are very much aware of the growing rumors which ‘persistently suggest’ that Chelsea are preparing a €38m offer. The only thing stopping them at the moment is that they might not be in the Champions League next season.

It seems that’s what Rowe would want from a move. Gazzetta say that ‘the player’s wishes remain important’ when it comes to Bologna’s hopes of keeping him. That desire could be European football.

The Italian side certainly do not want to lose him after one year. But they know that ‘the danger exists’ and Chelsea is one of those clubs who fall into the dangerous category.

Do Chelsea need Jonathan Rowe?

The question is whether they will be able to move, especially at €38m. To say the least, the Blues are in a tight financial situation.

The current team is also bloated. It already has Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens on the left wing, while Pedro Neto is also comfortable playing on that side. At least one of them will surely have to go before a move for Jonathan Rowe is made this summer.

Yet, at least in Italy, they see Chelsea as a threat. Bologna are convinced that they could lose their star player and Chelsea are one of those curious.
