Pat Riley asks ridiculous price for Bam Adebayo

As the Miami Heat try to figure out their next move, team president Pat Riley doesn’t seem to be speculating about the possibility of trading three-time All-Star Bam Adebayo.

He met with the media on Monday and was asked if he would consider leaving Adebayo after other teams have traded away their franchise players to become better over the past few years. His answer was quite definite. And he even offered a ridiculous price that he would accept:

“I want to build it around Bam. I think Mikey wants that too… I’m just going to give you ‘no’, I’m not going to do it. Unless someone gives me eight picks and (Victor) Wembanyama.”

One could argue that the most ridiculous thing was Riley not being able to pronounce Wembley’s name except for a few letters.

He was given three other examples of teams that replaced their star players to become better. Atlanta traded away Trae Young, Indiana traded Domantas Sabonis and Toronto waived Pascal Siakam. But Riley simply said, “They’re not bam… not in my opinion by any means.

“[He’s]your franchise pillar, anchor-creator, culture-bearer and a genius.”

Adebayo averaged 20.1 points and 10.0 rebounds this year, which are pretty good numbers, but hardly ‘franchise player’ type. He was also in the news last month in the NBA for surpassing Kobe Bryant for the second-highest scoring game of all-time when he scored 83 points in a game in March.

Adebayo is a perennial contender for Defensive Player of the Year, and has averaged a double-double in four of the last seven years.

But in the end, bam or no bam, the Heat fell far short of reaching their goal this season. They finished 43–39, and were seeded 10th in the Eastern Conference. They lost to the Charlotte Hornets in the play-in tournament and were eliminated from the playoffs.

NBA Expert Boldly Says Bam Adebayo to Charlotte Hornets Trade Idea Is a Perfect Win-Win

Popular sports podcaster Bill Simmons has a bold trade idea that would send Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo to the Charlotte Hornets, and both teams should seriously consider it.

The Heat is one of the most respected franchises in the NBA. “Heat culture” is a brand known throughout the league, and the team’s seventh consecutive trip to the playoffs to miss the playoffs proves it. However, the devil is in the details, and their last three appearances were needed to secure the postseason by participating in the NBA Play-In Tournament.

This month, they again reached the play-ins but lost to the Hornets. Furthermore, the team has achieved 50 wins in only one season in the last 12 years. While the Heat are always competitive and reached the NBA Finals in 2023, they haven’t been a serious title contender in a very long time. That’s why this is an important offseason for the club, with ample reason to discuss major changes to the roster.

Maybe that’s why The Ringer podcast host, Bill Simmons, came up with a revolutionary idea this week. In this, Miami will send three-time All-Star Bam Adebayo to the Hornets. At first glance, Heat fans may scoff at the idea of trading away their best player and the guy who scored 83 points a game this season, but they should seriously consider the notion.

Why the Heat should consider trading Bam Adebayo to the Hornets

In a potential trade for Simmons, the Heat would get the expiring contracts of Miles Bridges – who averaged 17.1 points and 5.8 boards – and Grant Williams. They get their first-rounder back in 2027, so Miami can get all of their future first-rounders again. Also, the Hornets have two Round 1 picks this year (14th and 18th overall) and the first in 2029.

Simmons’ guest on the show, ESPN NBA insider Zach Lowe, liked the trade for the Hornets. He also said Adebayo is a North Carolina native and his family goes to a lot of Hornets games every year. “He’ll be great there,” Lowe said.

However, is it worth it for Miami? As Lowe noted, this summer is a “come to Jesus moment” for the Heat. It appears that this group has reached its limits, and it seems like the time is right for big changes. Since Adebayo feels like he’s a perfect fit for Charlotte, they’d probably be willing to give up what Simmons suggested. But Adebayo’s transfer doesn’t mean a losing season in 2026-27.

Bam Adebayo stats: 20.1 ppg, 10.0 rpg, 3.2 apg, 1.2 spg, 0.7 bpg

There have long been rumors that the Heat would pursue a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade this summer. Those additional draft picks would make Miami’s offer to the Milwaukee Bucks even better. Still, he doesn’t have to be the only player they get.

Despite Ja Morant’s low trade value, they could easily acquire both Antetokounmpo and Morant this summer. If management still has big faith in Jaime Jacquez Jr. and Kel’El Ware, they could try to re-sign Norman Powell and pair those three with Donovan Mitchell, who reportedly could be placed on the trade block if he doesn’t sign an extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers this summer.

They may still be able to add Morant to that mix if they want. Either way, moving Adebayo to the Hornets could open the door to a major overhaul that would make Miami a better team in the short and long term.

Bam Adebayo’s ‘second home’ enters on potential Las Vegas, NBA expansion

Bam Adebayo hails Las Vegas as “second home” As NBA expansion discussions heated up this week, the NBA is moving forward with plans to add franchises in Las Vegas and Seattle.

According to ESPN, the NBA Board of Governors has approved a vote to formally begin exploring expansion in the two markets, an important step toward potential league growth. Shortly after the news, Adebayo spoke with reporters about the possibility of playing in Las Vegas.

“If I get a chance to play in Vegas, I get to go to my second home a little bit, so that will be nice.”

Adebayo’s ties to Las Vegas extend beyond basketball. He has been in a relationship with A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces for over a year, which has linked him to the city that has become a growing hub for professional sports.

When asked if Las Vegas could support an NBA team the same way fans support the Aces, Adebayo pointed to the unparalleled loyalty already established within the WNBA fanbase.

“I can see them supporting me like that. I don’t know about any other team. It’s a good thing because the Aces fans are really true to the Aces, so I don’t know how it’s going to happen. If they start winning like the Aces, maybe.”

Bam Adebayo’s arrival in Las Vegas leads to Heat’s climb up the East standings

Buoyed by the success of hosting the NBA Summer League and recent NBA Cup championship events, Las Vegas has emerged as a leading candidate for expansion along with Seattle. The city has also demonstrated strong support for other major franchises in the NFL, NHL and WNBA.

For now, Adebayo’s focus remains on the Miami Heat and their effort to build momentum heading into the season. Miami currently sits in 10th place in the Eastern Conference standings at 38-34 after a five-game losing streak, including a 136-111 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Monday.

The 28-year-old continues to power the Heat on both ends of the floor as the team tries to climb the Eastern Conference standings. Miami is 2.5 games behind the fifth-seeded Toronto Raptors (40-31).

Miami begins a two-game road trip against the Cleveland Cavaliers (45-27) on Wednesday at 7:30 PM ET and then face them on Friday night at 7:30 PM ET on NBA TV.

Why Kevin Porter Jr. believes he needs to break Bam Adebayo’s 83-point record

Milwaukee Bucks guard Kevin Porter Jr. recently shared why he thinks he needs to surpass Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo’s 83-point performance, pointing to Kobe Bryant’s legacy as a major inspiration.

Porter Jr. made the comments while reacting to Adebayo’s historic run during a recent livestream.

“I’m trying to drop 80 [points]. shout out kobe [Bryant]Shout out to Bam because I’m definitely beating him one day. Now that Kobe has lost, I have to defeat Bam to honor Kobe.”

Adebayo’s 83-point game is now the second-highest scoring performance in NBA history, trailing only Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point game and surpassing Bryant’s iconic 81-point performance with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2006.

The 25-year-old Porter Jr. is currently in his sixth NBA season and his first full campaign with Milwaukee, where he has taken on an expanded role in the backcourt. Through 38 games, including 36 starts, he has averaged 17.4 points, a career-high 7.4 assists, 5.2 rebounds and a career-high 2.2 steals per game, while shooting 46.5% from the field, 32.2% from three-point range and a career-high 87.8% from the free-throw line in 33.2 minutes per contest.

The surge in Porter Jr.’s scoring has already been evident in his career. The highest performance of his career came during the 2020–21 season with the Houston Rockets, when he recorded 50 points, 11 assists, and five rebounds in a matchup against the Bucks in late April. In that game, he shot 16 of 26 from the field, 9 of 15 from three-point range, and 9 of 11 from the free-throw line in 41 minutes.

Adebayo’s performance has sparked league-wide discussion regarding milestones achieved and the pursuit of records, with players and analysts reflecting on the circumstances surrounding the historic night. However, Porter Jr. remains focused on competing and respecting the standard set by Bryant.

Milwaukee is coming off a challenging season, entering the finals with a 29–42 record and 11th in the Eastern Conference standings. Despite the team’s struggles, Porter Jr.’s individual production has been a bright spot as the Bucks look toward the future.

The Bucks are set to conclude their four-game road trip with a matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers (36-37) on Wednesday night at 10:00 PM ET. Milwaukee is entering the contest coming off a 129-96 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night.

As the season ends, Porter Jr.’s comments reflect his confidence and the broader impact of Adebayo’s historic performance, which continues to resonate throughout the league.

Bam Adebayo’s NSFW reaction to losing 5 in a row amid playoff push

MIAMI – As the Miami Heat make a push for the 2026 NBA Playoffs, the team is currently trending in a negative direction, tied with five consecutive losses following Monday’s 136-111 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. As the Heat and Bam Adebayo are unable to overcome Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs, the team captain will keep it real even after the loss.

Wembanyama finished with 26 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks, leading San Antonio to an impressive win on both sides of the ball, outclassing Miami from the start. There came a time when frustration grew for the Heat as Adebayo and head coach Erik Spoelstra were teasing each other after the star was out.

As Adebayo’s minutes seemed to mirror Wembanyama’s, as Spoelstra inserted Kel’El Ware into relief as the Spurs star was relieved, the Miami big man’s competitive edge came to the fore. Now in the midst of a five-game losing streak, Adebayo would chime in on the heated exchange with Spoelstra, including his NSFW reaction to not wanting to attend the play-in tournament for the fourth consecutive season.

“I mean, he’s been watching what I’ve been doing the last number of games,” Adebayo said while recording 18 points (5-17 FG, 2-10 from deep) with four assists and three rebounds. “I don’t want to be in the play-in. So some of it is, yes, he has to save me from myself, but at the same time, I don’t want to be in the play-in. So every game, I’m going to try to go out there and do my best to push this team and force us out of this.”

Heat’s Erik Spoelstra ‘barking’ at him and Bam Adebayo at each other

While the Heat weren’t able to maintain their identity in the loss to the Spurs, it started with the defense, as the team struggled on the boards, getting out-rebounded 62-38 in addition to giving up 136 points. San Antonio also won the second-chance points battle 25–6, and excelled in the paint, scoring 60 in that area compared to Miami’s 40.

Adebayo played a stellar 45 minutes in Saturday’s loss to the Houston Rockets, but that was unlikely to be the case on Monday, as Spoelstra said he liked Adebayo’s competitive nature.

“He and I were barking at each other. That’s why I love him. I think he loves me,” Spoelstra said, laughing. “But even if he doesn’t, I’ve still got to do what’s best for the team. You know, I don’t want to play him 24 minutes in a row every half. If I’m forced to do it like Houston did, I’ll do it. But it’s the first half. I didn’t think it was necessary, you know. So some minutes, yes, most of the minutes are matchup ones. But it shouldn’t be all the minutes for us.”

One of the words spoken in Spoelstra’s postgame press conference after the loss in Houston was that the Heat are going through “pain,” a feeling that continues to be “uncomfortable” during this skid.

“We’re being tested right now, we’re not the only team that’s being tested,” Spoelstra told ClutchPoints. “It feels uncomfortable, no doubt about that. We definitely got outplayed tonight, in basically every aspect of the game. It’s a game, I understand the other four, but there are some really good things in other games, even more so, and we just have to stay the course.”

What the Heat lacked in the Spurs defeat, and what a ‘good problem’ they have

As the Heat disappointed against the Spurs in almost every category, one area that can’t be seen in the statsheet is the “competitive spirit” that the team lacked, as Adebayo reiterated, shouting out Myron Gardner’s energy despite the result.

“We didn’t bring competitive spirit. That’s really what it was. Shout out to Myron Garner, man, I looked up to Myron because he plays so hard,” Adebayo told ClutchPoints after Gardner played 18 minutes and scored nine points. “We honestly need to match his energy, all of us, because we play like this, we’ll be a completely different team, but our energy has to transfer, and then basketball is going to be basketball. We missed shots, whatever, but you have to continue to play through the missed shots. I felt like we let those shots get to our heads, and it affected us on the other end.”

Another challenge for Miami in the game was having the healthiest roster in a long time, with the return of Andrew Wiggins (toe), Jaime Jacquez Jr. (hip), and Norman Powell (calf) from injury. While Spoelstra is still looking for the right rotation to use with 10 games left, Herro would say it’s a “good problem to have.”

“I’m not sure, but we’ve got to figure it out. I’d rather be completely healthy than not go out there, so we have a good problem to have. It’s a good problem to have, and we’ve just got to get back on track,” Herro said after scoring 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field with five rebounds.

Summer ‘keeps releasing the rope’

The Heat are trying to recover from the pain Spoelstra talks about, playing time is limited after the loss to the Spurs, making it a tough adjustment to have a fully healthy roster for the first time. Despite being an All-Star this season, mostly as a starter, Powell’s coming off the bench has been a step up.

After scoring 21 points on seven of 18 shooting from the field and four of 11 from deep, Powell talked about how the team continues to “let go of the rope” even in adversity.

“I think when things get tough, we let go of the rope,” Powell told ClutchPoints. “I think that’s what happens when we lose like this. We get hit, have some adversity, miss some shots and then everyone starts worrying about what happened on offense, and teams take advantage of that and keep punishing us. When we get hit, we keep going.”

As previously stated, there are now 10 games left in the regular season as the Heat are now 38-34, leaving them in ninth place in the Eastern Conference heading into a two-game road trip on Wednesday and Friday, both of which they will face the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Bam Adebayo-Wembanyama comparisons are on Erik Spoelstra’s mind

MIAMI – As the Miami Heat look to bounce back from the pain of a heartbreaking loss to the Houston Rockets on Saturday, the team looks to end its four-game losing streak against the San Antonio Spurs. As the Heat’s Bam Adebayo faces off against sensation Victor Wembanyama, head coach Erik Spoelstra will talk about how they are similar in one area.

There’s no denying that Adebayo and Wembanyama are completely different players, as Spoelstra mentioned, but in the context of how other teams prepare for each player, both of their strengths offensively come from across the court. It could also be argued that both Adebayo and Wembanyama are anchors for their respective teams on both sides of the ball.

“[Wembanyama] He’s their leading scorer, and so he’s doing it all over the field. Obviously a completely different player than Bam [Adebayo]But it’s probably just like when you’re preparing for Bam offensively, all over the floor, handling, screening, playing at the three-point line, playing in the post, playing off the drive, they screen for him,” Spoelstra said before Monday night’s game against Wambayama and San Antonio.

“So you have to be prepared for all those things. And our defense has been prepared for those types of situations all season long,” Spoelstra continued. “And then if you don’t prepare for him to be at the rim, you know, that’s irresponsible. He’s going to be there. They have great defense, and he changes a lot of things at the rim, and we don’t want to take off the breaks or show so much respect, but you’ve got to know where your outlets are, and all that kind of stuff fits into how we want to play.”

The Heat’s captain could also be added in another way in Adebayo and Wembanyama, both of whom are potential contenders for the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year (DPOY). Adebayo has not received this award his entire career, with many believing he deserves at least one award up to this point due to his elite ability to cover every position, while Wembanyama may be on his way after being the block leader for the past two years.

A few weeks earlier, on March 10, Spoelstra told ClutchPoints that it could be a “two-man race” between Adebayo and Wembanyama for DPOY.

“These next six weeks, if we can really defend the same way we’ve been defending the last month, I think it’s a two-man race for Defensive Player of the Year. I think that’s the flavor you have,” Spoelstra told ClutchPoints.

Spoelstra continued, “They’ve won at an extremely high level, San Antonio, and their defense has consistently been a notch above our defense, but we’re starting to catch them in that.” “But it just depends on what flavor you like, a unicorn shot blocker that completely changes everything in the paint, or a unicorn one-through-five that nobody can scheme in this league. And that performance, you know, has a real unique ability to impact the game defensively.”

At any rate, the main focus for Adebayo and Spoelstra is to finish the season on a positive note and avoid the play-in tournament, as entering Monday’s game against the Spurs and Wambayama, Miami is 38-33, leaving them in ninth place in the East.

Bam Adebayo gets 30-point Wembley challenge from Austin Rivers

The Miami Heat have cooled off the past few games as the basketball world is still trying to process Bam Adebayo’s recent 83-point game, the second-most in NBA history. While some have celebrated the feat, which puts him ahead of Kobe Bryant and behind only Wilt Chamberlain in the record books, others have tried to downplay Adebayo’s accomplishment by pointing out some of the bizarre tactics Miami used to help him get to this point.

One guy who falls into the latter camp is former NBA guard Austin Rivers, who recently went on The Ryan Russillo Show to challenge Adebayo.

“If you score more than 30 against [Victor Wembanyama]. It will be as impressive to me as you are getting [83] Points… I’ll tip more than you get [83] Against the f*****g Wizards,” Rivers said, according to X, formerly of The Ryan Russillo Show on Twitter.

Adebayo will have a chance to do that on Monday night when the Heat host Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs.

The Heat have a very difficult schedule at the moment, having lost four games in a row and falling into the play-in field in the Eastern Conference as a result. Adebayo had a stellar game of 32 points and 21 rebounds over the weekend against the Houston Rockets, but Miami lost in the final seconds when Amen Thompson missed Kevin Durant at the buzzer.

Adebayo had a big game against the Spurs earlier this year, and he’ll need a similar output this time around to get Miami back in the win column against a San Antonio team that has been impressive in recent weeks.

Tipoff between the Heat and Spurs is scheduled for 7:00 pm ET.

Fans boo Bam Adebayo after Luka Doncic’s 60-point game

Luka Doncic continued his high-scoring onslaught over the past few days, exploding 60 points in the Los Angeles Lakers’ 134-126 win over the Miami Heat on Thursday at Kasia Center.

Doncic was coming off a breakout season of 40 points in their win over the Houston Rockets, 124-116, at the Toyota Center on Wednesday, but the busy schedule hasn’t stopped him from getting frantic again.

He was efficient against the Heat, shooting 18 of 30 from the field, including 9 of 17 shots from long range. He made 15 of 19 shots from the free-throw stripe.

After Doncic’s heroic performance, which was the second-highest output of his career, fans couldn’t help but bring up, or should we say, put down, Bam Adebayo’s 83-point game against the Washington Wizards.

“The Lakers’ Luka Doncic’s 60-point competitive game was far more impressive than the Heat’s Bam Adebayo’s 83 points in a meaningless game. Imagine if Luka had made 13 more field goals, five of them threes, and 24 more free throws? Come on,” @das_187 said.

@Gunsmoke__Q echoed, “Bam Adebayo scores 83 on Wizards, Luka scores 60 on Heat.”

@TomBrady80 said, “If Adebayo had shot as efficiently as Luka, he would have had 100+ points.”

“Luka just showed Adebayo what it was like,” @_SayParlay_ posted.

@BallinKP8 commented, “Luka Bam showing Adebayo how to properly put up a significant amount of points straight in his face. #thatsforkobe.”

The hate train continues for Adebayo to have a career night. Recall, he made 23 of 43 shots from the field, including 7 of 22 from long distance. He went 36-of-43 from the free-throw line. The Heat won 150–129.

Many, including Michael Jordan, congratulated Adebayo for his historic performance.

But on Thursday, he was on the receiving end of Doncic’s outstanding performance, and of course, Adebayo, who had 28 points and 10 rebounds, respected it.

Patrick Beverley defends Bam Adebayo amid 83-point discussion

Recently, one of the major talking points in the NBA has been whether or not the Miami Heat violated some unwritten rules of basketball when center Bam Adebayo scored 83 points in a game against the Washington Wizards, passing Kobe Bryant for second-most all-time. Many critics have pointed to Adebayo’s 43 free throw attempts as well as some of the Heat’s bizarre late-game strategies as reasons to discredit the scoring explosion.

However, one person coming to Adebayo’s defense is former NBA guard Patrick Beverley, who recently took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the debate.

“I never knew there was a fake 83. A motherf***** never scored an 83, how could it be fake? This is as real as it gets… People were shocked it was Bam and it wasn’t Steph Curry, it was LeBron James… If KD had the same 83 with the same stats, they wouldn’t treat it like that. It was shocking to people that Bam did that… Bam tops in the NBA Big in 3. Big in top 3… I don’t know what the surprise is,” he said on X, according to Heat Central.

In fact, many were surprised that it was Adebayo, who was averaging just under 20 points per game before the game, who broke Bryant’s second-place mark, and not one of the more high-octane scorers across the NBA landscape.

However, it does show just how talented NBA players really are… and how bad the Wizards defense really is.

Meanwhile, the Heat are looking to bounce back from their seven-game winning streak after losing two consecutive games. They will next take the field on Thursday evening in a home match against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Bam Adebayo’s injury admission hints at possible absence vs. Hornets

The Miami Heat face the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday night and Bam Adebayo is once again on the injury report. The Heat have listed Adebayo as questionable because of right calf tightness, making Miami’s All-Star big man the focus of attention as the team tries to bounce back from its most recent loss.

Miami enters the matchup at 38-30, No. 7 in the Eastern Conference. The Hornets, meanwhile, are 34-34, 10th in the East and also trying to bounce back from a loss. With both teams fighting for position in the playoff and play-in race, Adebayo’s availability has become increasingly important.

Adebayo remains a cornerstone of Miami’s lineup. Over the course of 60 games, he is averaging 20.0 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists while shooting 44.4 percent from the field. He’s also converting 32.3 percent from three-point range and 77.4 percent from the free-throw line. Additionally, the versatile big man contributed 1.2 steals and 0.7 blocks per game, making an impact on both ends of the floor.

When Adebayo is on the court, the Heat operate with more defensive stability and interior presence. His ability to solidify the paint while facilitating the offense provides Miami with a reliable foundation on both ends.

Bam Adebayo Injury Status vs. Hornets

UPDATE: After being listed as “doubtful” due to right calf tightness, he has been downgraded to “doubtful” for the contest. The star said during shootaround before Tuesday’s game against the Hornets that he was “playing down” the issue.

According to The Miami Herald, Adebayo said, “I’m playing through it. But it got to a point that I had to sit down.”

With a tough schedule coming up after the contest in Charlotte, Adebayo may be well served to sit out the games with his calf injury and prepare for the challenge of the games ahead. Spoelstra talked about being “responsible” for Adebayo’s injury.

“We want to make sure he’s feeling good. So we’ll be responsible for that. He’ll continue to get treatment around the clock. If he’s not able to go, Kel’El will step in there and then other guys will obviously have to step up,” Spoelstra said.

The Heat’s injury report includes several additional names. Terry Rozier and Andrew Wiggins are out, while Nikola Jovic and Pelle Larsson are listed as probable. Tyler Herro, Jaime Jacquez Jr., Kaspars Jakuccionis, Drew Smith and Kel’El Ware are all available despite minor injuries.

For Charlotte, the Hornets’ injury report lists PJ Hall, Antonio Reeves and Tidjane Salaun out.

Still, Adebayo’s status remains the most important factor for Miami moving forward. The Heat will look to regain momentum, while the Hornets aim to remain competitive in the Eastern Conference play-in race.

So when it comes to the question of whether Bam Adebayo is playing against the Hornets tonight, the answer is uncertain. His final standing will depend on pre-game evaluation as Miami looks to get back into the win column.

Bam Adebayo’s injury report comes out ahead of Hornets clash

The Miami Heat are preparing for the playoffs with 14 games remaining in the regular season, the two main goals being to avoid the play-in tournament and staying healthy. Following the Heat’s loss to the Orlando Magic on Saturday night with the return of Norman Powell and Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo has found himself on the injury report for the team’s upcoming game.

Tuesday’s road contest against the Charlotte Hornets (34-34) is undoubtedly big for Miami, as are the team’s next five games against teams with winning records. Those teams are the Los Angeles Lakers (42-25) on Thursday, the Houston Rockets (41-25) on Saturday, the San Antonio Spurs (49-18) next Monday, and the Cleveland Cavaliers (41-27, will face them twice next Wednesday and Friday).

However, Miami’s captain, Adebayo, has been added to the team’s injury report ahead of the clash against the Hornets, listed as “questionable” with right calf tightness.

The star is coming off possibly the best week of his career, which included a win over the Washington Wizards on Tuesday, which included Adebayo’s historic 83-point game, which became the second-highest scoring game ever in the NBA, surpassing Kobe Bryant’s 81.

Although there has been a polarizing reaction to the performance, no one can take away the history the 28-year-old has made, with the NBA obviously awarding him the Eastern Conference Player of the Week award. However, he is in danger of missing Tuesday’s game against the Hornets, a team that has a .500 record; They are 18-7 in their last 25 games.

Additionally, the competition has an impact on the former standings, as each game remaining in the regular season is against the Heat at 38–30, leaving them in seventh place in the conference. They’re a half-game behind the Toronto Raptors, who hold the sixth seed, with Miami in contention for at least that spot should they avoid the play-in tournament.

Bam Adebayo wins the most obvious Player of the Week ever

Recently, the Miami Heat were the center of the basketball world when center Bam Adebayo had an incredible 83-point game against the Washington Wizards, giving them the second highest scoring game in league history. The game predictably sparked discussion about how “ethical” Adebayo and the Heat’s methods were, but it was still a historic accomplishment for Miami’s longtime defensive anchor.

On Monday, the NBA announced its players of the week for the past seven days, and to no one’s surprise, Adebayo took home the honor for the Eastern Conference, as league insider Mark Stein, formerly of the Ax, reported on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic won the award for the Western Conference.

While Adebayo is a multi-time All-Star and has had good scoring nights, few could have predicted that he would be the player to challenge, let alone break, Kobe Bryant’s mark of 81 points for the second-highest scoring game in league history. Adebayo now trails only Wilt Chamberlain in scoring 100 points in a game.

Meanwhile, the Heat are looking to bounce back after their seven-game winning streak was recently snapped by the Orlando Magic. The Heat and Magic are in a race to see who can clinch the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference, with Orlando currently having a slight edge in that department, and a winning streak of their own.

While Miami certainly isn’t counting on Adebayo to break records on a nightly basis, the game against Washington was a great showcase of what an elite scorer he can be when he puts his mind to it, especially when a common criticism of the star has been his lack of aggression at times throughout his career.

The Heat next take the field on Tuesday evening for an important game against the Charlotte Hornets.

Bam Adebayo warns Miami of ‘gauntlet’ as postseason approaches

MIAMI – The Miami Heat lost 121-117 to the Orlando Magic for the fifth time this season on Saturday night, pushing them back in the Eastern Conference standings, with the team looking to avoid the play-in tournament. Since this is the right time for the Heat with the return of Norman Powell and Tyler Herro from injury, Adebayo will talk about the upcoming program.

Miami has finished in the play-in tournament the past three seasons, meaning they have finished anywhere between the seventh and 10th seeds, competing with other teams for the final two playoff spots in the East. The team has four weeks left in the regular season to solidify a spot in the postseason, but these next six games will undoubtedly be a “gauntlet,” as Adebayo said.

Looking at the next six games, it includes four teams with winning records, except for the Charlotte Hornets, who they will face on Tuesday, who are 34-34 but have been one of the hottest teams in the league recently, going 18-6 in their last 25 games.

After hosting the Los Angeles Lakers (42-25) on Thursday, Miami will travel to face the Houston Rockets (41-25) on Saturday to close out the week. The following week, the San Antonio Spurs (49–18) came to Miami, the team concluded the week with two games against the Cleveland Cavaliers (41–27).

Where the heat had to be endured on Saturday, it will have to be changed

While the Heat are focused on Adebayo scoring a historic 83 points, as well as continuing a seven-game winning streak prior to the Magic’s loss, the team is now focused on impressing in the toughest stretch of the season. Apart from the offensive side of the ball, it all starts with the defense for the team, which was a disappointing aspect on Saturday.

Orlando came out and scored 41 points in the first quarter, shooting nearly 70 percent from the field, and while Miami got close at the end after being down by 22 points, it was too late. At any rate, Miami looks to bounce back against the Hornets on Tuesday as they are 38-30, leaving them in seventh place in the East.

Bam Adebayo calls out ref for ‘changing’ game vs. Magic

MIAMI – As the Miami Heat saw the return of Norman Powell and Tyler Herro, it wasn’t enough to overcome the Orlando Magic on Saturday night, losing 121-117. The Heat had major momentum after Bam Adebayo scored a historic 83 points on Tuesday and won seven straight games on Thursday, a streak that was snapped, albeit in an instance that left teammates angry.

Although Miami struggled in the first half, with Orlando jumping out to a 22-point lead, the team returned to its strength on both sides of the ball in the second half, making it a close game with less than a minute left in the contest. The game-changing moment was when the Heat were down four points with 36.6 seconds left in the game as Pelle Larsson inbounded the ball.

After Larson did not blow the referee’s whistle, Miami called for a five-second violation, with the team clearly upset by the decision.

With the team and officiating working on it all night, Adebayo had a strong message, calling out the referee who “changed” the game.

“As for the call, it felt like it was swift. That’s what’s frustrating about it, because if we say anything about it we get fined,” Adebayo told ClutchPoints. “But it changed the game. And when you change the game, you’ve got to stick with it.”

“Then on the other side, I felt like they had a five-second call that wasn’t called. Changed the game,” Adebayo continued. “They influence the game in a way that sometimes has an impact, and they get to go home and sleep peacefully, and we’re talking about a call here that you feel should have been called or wasn’t called.”

Heat’s Norman Powell says controversial call by refs was “BS”

Heat players raised their voices about the five-second violation, though they all mentioned how the team suffered in the first half, especially when the Magic were allowed to score 41 points, shooting nearly 70 percent from the field in the first quarter. Still, the violation was a stifling call that took away momentum from Miami, such that the call could have been considered a toss-up; Many on the Heat believe this decision was made too quickly.

Star Norman Powell spoke openly about his displeasure with the call, after scoring 20 points off the bench in his return after missing seven games due to a groin strain, telling ClutchPoints that the five-second violation was “BS.”

“It was so fast we didn’t even get through our first two options before they called a five-second violation,” Powell said. “And late in the game, we tried to get them the ball inbounds, they allowed them to call timeout when it was obviously longer than our five-second call. So, we just got frustrated when we were trying to figure out how we could steal the game on the inbounds.”

Another player who returned from injury, this time missing two contests due to quadriceps soreness, was Tyler Herro. Finishing the game with 10 points on a disappointing shooting night, he agreed it was a quick call, but says the team will “stick with it”.

“I don’t think it was five seconds. It was a quick five,” Herro said. “Obviously, we stepped back and put ourselves in a position to be limited to four, limited to three, reduced to a one-possession game. But we can’t put ourselves in that position.”

Erik Spoelstra on self-inflicted wounds by the Heat

While the Heat had an inspiring win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday, the loss against the Magic hurt for a number of reasons, the main one being that Miami has been unable to defeat Orlando in its five games this season. The Magic are just the second team in the last three decades to defeat a team (the Heat) five times in a single season.

While Spoelstra also agreed about the five-second call being harsh, he would discuss how the team positions itself for the referee’s single call as the deciding factor.

“They said it was five seconds. I mean, I haven’t gone through the mechanics of it yet, but it felt like a quick five,” Spoelstra said. “But still, we put ourselves in that position. And defensively in the second half, we made a lot of stands, holding them to 37 percent and 50 points. It was a lot different than that first half.”

Spoelstra continued, “We were getting attacked off the dribble, a lot of them, in one-on-one situations, and then in different ways, then cuts, then transitions, we didn’t set the tone for the game defensively.” “And then the rest of the second half, we had to dig out from behind. We don’t want to get into the habit of allowing teams to score 70 and a half runs on us without any resistance.”

The loss to the Heat dropped them to 38-30 on the season, leaving them in seventh place in the Eastern Conference, with their next game coming on Tuesday against the Charlotte Hornets.

Pat Riley taunts haters of Bam Adebayo’s 83-point game: ‘It’s bulls***’

Miami Heat president Pat Riley is furious with NBA fans and analysts who have tried to dismiss Bam Adebayo’s historic 83-point game this week.

Earlier this week, Adebayo not only had the greatest single-game performance in Heat history, but one of the best scoring performances in NBA history. On March 10, the Miami big man hit seven three-pointers and an absurd 36 free throws en route to scoring 83 points in a win over the Washington Wizards.

While Adebayo’s performance did not earn the record for most points in a single NBA game – which is still held by Wilt Chamberlain and his 100-point game in 1962 – he passed Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant for the No. 2 spot on the all-time list. And this upset many fans and pundits of the game.

Hours after his performance of a lifetime, Adebayo received lots of love from around the world. However, there was a large section of NBA fans and experts who were not fans of his record-breaking night. The biggest point of contention was the number of free throws he shot – Bryant had 20 free throw attempts in his 81-point game – and how the Heat helped him reach 83 by drawing fouls late in the game to Adebayo to get more scoring opportunities.

Pat Riley hits back at Bam Adebayo haters

bed relay
Kirby Lee-Images Images

Well, one person who thinks the hate Adebayo is getting is a bunch of bullshit is Heat President Pat Riley. And the great coach and executive lashed out at the haters on Saturday.

“It’s all bulls***,” Riley told the Miami Herald. “It really is. Anybody who was negative on it, anybody who was cynical about it, anybody who talked about it the way they talked negatively about it, they’re either trying to get views, hits, or they’re podcasters, and that’s their job.

He said, “There are critics today who are very unfair in what was going on with the strategy, and we were fouled, and they were fouled. Same thing happened with Wilt Chamberlain when he scored 100 in the day.” “But I don’t buy any of that. He gave an iconic, absolutely incredible performance, and they tried to dismiss it. And that’s not fair.”

Steve Kerr defends Erik Spoelstra, Bam Adebayo after 83-point game

SAN FRANCISCO — Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr couldn’t believe the buzz surrounding Bam Adebayo’s historic 83-point game against the Washington Wizards, the second-most in NBA history.

“Is this a thing? People aren’t giving him credit for scoring 83.” [points]Kerr asked the room when told that a good portion of fans, reporters and analysts across the league have vilified Adebayo, the Miami Heat and the way Erik Spoelstra got to that incredible feat.

Opponents have cited Adebayo’s record-breaking 43 free throws, the way the Heat fouled the Wizards to get the ball back, and the fact that Spoelstra left his man in a blowout game to chase the record, as reasons why Adebayo’s 83 points should come with an asterisk. But it seems like Kerr is on the other side of the discussion, as he had nothing but praise for the player he coached during the 2020 and 2024 Olympics.

“It’s pretty amazing. I mean, what an incredible accomplishment,” Kerr said. “And he’s not even really a scorer. He’s an incredible player. But he wouldn’t be top of mind to score that many points. So just feels like a bizarre evening. I didn’t watch the game, we were playing so I saw some of the high highlights, but it was one of those physical experiences, and it seemed like the team was totally engaged and enjoying it.”

Steve Kerr supports Adebayo and Spoelstra’s defense

In recent days, since the historic night, Adebayo and Spoelstra have been dogged by questions about the ethics of the strategies they employed to help Adebayo score 83 points.

Adebayo called the haters “sofa coaches” and defended his performance.

“If you get that close to chasing greatness, that’s the point of chasing it, so you can overcome it,” Adebayo said. “And some people have never played basketball.”

Meanwhile, Spoelstra strongly supported Adebayo, calling out detractors in a lengthy response to the Miami media.

“I think most of the people who probably made comments didn’t watch the game. It’s ‘irresponsible’ or ‘immoral,'” Spoelstra said. “And I would do it again 10 times out of 10 for Bam, I’m not apologizing to anyone about that.”

Spoelstra won’t have to apologize to Kerr because the Dubs coached his longtime friend and coaching contemporary.

“I think every coach has to face that — himself and his own circumstances,” Kerr said. “I think the whole team was pleading to keep Spo [Adebayo] Out there. And it’s really tricky. As a coach, you may feel awkward.”

Steve Kerr references his feelings

Kerr recalled a similar experience to Spoelstra and Adebayor, when he passed Klay Thompson against the Chicago Bulls to set the record for most 3-pointers in a game on October 29, 2018.

With the Warriors up by 41 with 4:53 left in the third quarter, Thompson hit his 14th triple to tie the record. But before that point, Kerr had dismissed all the starters and left Thompson to chase the feat. But that pursuit led to shot-chucking, a context lost over time, as Thompson missed four consecutive 3-pointers in the process.

“I let him go because I wanted him to get the record,” Kerr said. “The team wanted him to get the record. And it was a little weird, sure, I felt bad that he was launching shots. Luckily, he made one. I think he missed his first three quarters, and he was just launching every time, and he made his fourth. And I couldn’t get him out fast enough. But it worked out. Everybody was happy, but yeah, it’s weird. There’s a lot of mouths to feed, a lot of people to think about in those situations. Are.”

With Kerr’s experience with record-chasing players and teams, he had no trouble with Spoelstra’s defense.

“But I respect what Spo said. There’s no need to apologize. He was doing it for his team and I respect that.”

How Bam Adebayo’s 83-point game ‘inspired’ Giannis to big win against Bucks

MIAMI – As the buzz around the Miami Heat is that Bam Adebayo made history Tuesday by scoring 83 points, the second-highest scoring game ever in the NBA, surpassing Kobe Bryant’s 81 points, there’s no doubt he made an impact. Whatever the effect of the social media discussion surrounding the “ethics” of the Heat captain’s 83-point night, it was felt during the team’s 112-105 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday.

The win over the Bucks is Miami’s seventh straight, the longest of the season for the team, and comes after Adebayo had a historic night against the Wizards on Tuesday. Adebayo was clearly and obviously gassed in the contest, though he still finished with 21 points and eight rebounds.

Erik Spoelstra called outing vs. Bucks “one of our more impressive wins”

However, Adebayo’s performance was “inspirational”, as said by head coach Erik Spoelstra, leading to a dominant win over Milwaukee led by a standout performance from Pelle Larsson, which included a career-high 28 points.

“I thought it was one of our most impressive wins of the season,” Spoelstra said. “Going into this, you want to make sure your emotional and mental batteries are recharged. But it’s quite natural that there are some things where you don’t get enough juice. And for what we talked about in our meeting and walk-through, we need some guys to step up, maybe bring some Motivators, you know, inspire motivators.”

Spoelstra would call it a “very good team win”, while acknowledging that Miami was not as “impressive offensively”, possibly due to Tuesday’s emotionally draining night. Still, the Heat would look to hold the Bucks defensively, although Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with 31 points.

Adebayo and the Heat look to get back on track and make things happen on Saturday night against the Orlando Magic.

Bam Adebayo urges Kobe’s defenders to ‘stay serious’ after 83-point game

MIAMI – Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo scored 83 points Tuesday night to surpass Kobe Bryant’s 81 for the second-highest scoring game in NBA history, no doubt polarizing reactions. While the 83 points scored by the Heat’s face of the franchise in Adebayo was labeled “unethical” by some in the sports world, the star himself has hit back at some of the talking points.

Those online who have questioned the ethics of the 83-point game have pointed to the 43 free-throw attempts by Adebayo or Miami intentionally committing fouls and missing free throws to save time or gain more possessions. Some have even said that Adebayo should have checked before passing Bryant to show respect.

“I’m like, ‘Listen, I’m a Kobe fan. I got close to his record. What do you think I’m going to do? Try to break it?’ I’m pretty sure if I had 81 and Kobe was on his way, he wouldn’t be like, ‘You know, I’m going to check myself out with nine minutes left, but I got 70.’ Stay serious,” Adebayo said after Thursday’s 112-105 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Whether people debate whether or not the Heat star’s 83-point night was unethical, no one can take that moment away from the 28-year-old. Adebayo will delve into how it’s been a “pinch-me moment” since Tuesday night’s historic game.

“The last 48 hours, it’s kind of…I’m surprised by myself,” Adebayo said after recording 21 points and eight rebounds in a win over Milwaukee on Thursday. “Because someone will ask, ‘What’s my career at the highest level?’ You are 83 years old. And it’s not like the YMCA, this is the highest level of basketball…it’s still a happy moment for me. And, as Kobe said, ‘You’ve got to stay in shape. You have to have a lot of stamina, stay in shape and really grab it.’ And I understand it now, because the next game is what you have to worry about.”

At any rate, Adebayo and Miami will now look to extend their seven-game winning streak against the Orlando Magic on Saturday.

Draymond Green criticizes Bam Adebayo’s 83-point game

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green shrugged off the criticism surrounding Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo’s historic 83-point performance, calling the reaction a “loser mentality” during the latest episode of The Draymond Green Show.

Adebayo had the second-highest scoring performance in NBA history during the Heat’s 150-129 win over the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night. The 28-year-old center exploded for 83 points while adding nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks in 42 minutes, shooting 20-for-43 from the field, 7-for-22 from three-point range and 36-for-43 from the free-throw line.

The performance immediately sparked debate throughout the league, with some critics questioning whether Miami should have allowed Adebayo to continue the late scoring milestone in a game that was already decided.

Green rejected that criticism during his podcast.

“Bam goes for 83 points. Let’s talk about it… 20 years from now, 30 years from now they’ll be in the record books saying Wilt Chamberlain 100 points and until further notice, Bam Adebayo 83. Can’t even say they were playing against the Washington Wizards and they were talking nonsense. So everybody out there is hating like, ‘Hey man, Spo got like that. Shouldn’t have done it. Oh, man Bam’ He shouldn’t have done that, he shouldn’t have done that, he shouldn’t have done that.

Draymond Green calls criticism of Bam Adebayo’s scoring night ‘loser mentality’

Green expressed much of his frustration toward what he described as unwritten rules that discourage teams from running score after the game’s outcome is no longer in doubt.

“Y’all want Spo to feel bad for that organization and kick Bam out of the game and not let him go after the record? I hate these unwritten rules in basketball like don’t score because y’all are ahead. Bullshit! This loser ass mentality people have in this world is really pathetic…’ You should kick him out [of] Who says ‘game because you’re up too many points’? It’s not their fault they stink!”

Adebayo’s scoring surge started early in the game. He scored 31 points in the first quarter and finished the first half with 43, already putting himself in range of one of the league’s most elite scoring marks.

Green argued that the initial outburst made criticism of the performance even more unfair.

“Bam had 43 at halftime, which means for all the haters out there, like, ‘Oh, he should have come out of the game,’ he was on his way to 86… I really think that’s crazy. [that] People are really hating. We’ve seen a lot of guys stat chase and stat pad in the NBA, but no one has made their way and stat chased up to 83. I don’t care how you do it, scoring 83 in an NBA game is crazy. And we’ll act like this guy was just chasing stats to get 83 points, no. He had 30 points in the first quarter. Let’s stop acting like some crazy person gone crazy, like it’s Bam Adebayo, are you all kidding me?

Green backs Heat coach Erik Spoelstra after Adebayo’s 83-point night

Green also voiced support for Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra, who allowed Adebayo to remain in the game as the milestone approached.

“Man, I got love from Coach Spo for that. A lot of times you see coaches take people out like, ‘Oh, we got a lead, sportsmanship bullshit’. Bullshit. I can’t believe there was so much fuss about Bam scoring 83 like he cheated or something? The bullshit went out of here.”

Adebayo’s historic outing added to an already productive season for the Heat star. In 59 games, he has averaged 20 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.1 steals while shooting 44.4% from the field and 32.4% from three-point range.

Miami improved to 38-29 after defeating the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night, extending its winning streak to seven games while taking over the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference standings.

Bam Adebayo drops hot take on future 80-point game

MIAMI – It’s been days since Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo made history by scoring 83 points against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night, causing a lot of buzz in the sports world. As much as there is a part of the debate that questions the ethics of the 83 points scored by the Heat captain in Adebayo, no one can take away that historic night from the big man, as he spoke about the future of this type of game.

Speaking after Miami’s 112-105 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday, extending the team’s winning streak to seven, he would talk about the attention he is getting because of his 83-point outing, the second-highest scoring game in history.

Having only surpassed Wilt Chamberlain’s 100 points in 1962 and Kobe Bryant’s 81 points in 2006, Adebayo may be feeling like he doesn’t think “anyone will ever do that again.”

“I mean, you’re surrounded by eyes, because everybody wants to see if you can do it again, which is crazy, because I don’t think anybody will do it again, but you just have to turn the page,” Adebayo said after recording 21 points and eight rebounds against the Bucks. “You see people yelling 83 at you, and you just start living in the moment. And then, usually when you get into the game, you kind of forget where you are and lose yourself throughout the game.”

Heat’s Bam Adebayo on ’emotional rollercoaster’

While Adebayo celebrates scoring 83 points despite the polarizing reaction from the Heat center, he will talk about continuing the performance as he leads the team to wins.

“An emotional roller coaster, and understand why,” Adebayo said. “But obviously to be able to move on to the next game, get a win, and approach it in a different way. It wasn’t 83 tonight, it was 21, so if anyone is upset? I don’t care, but we got the W, that’s all that matters.”

Adebayo and Miami now look to extend their win streak to eight as they visit the Orlando Magic on Saturday night.

A’Ja Wilson’s Kobe, Wilt T-shirt commemorating Bam Adebayo’s 83-point game

As the buzz continues about Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo making history by scoring 83 points against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night, one person who saw it coming was his teammate in WNBA superstar A’ja Wilson. While the sports world can debate the morality of a Heat captain scoring 83 points on Adebayo, no one can take away that milestone, Wilson put it on full display Thursday night.

Wilson will be in attendance for Miami’s 112-105 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday, where she was representing Adebayo’s accomplishment. Subsequently, Adebayo’s 83 points tied him for the second-highest scoring game in a game, ahead of Kobe Bryant (81) and behind Wilt Chamberlain (100), as Wilson used emojis to show the order.

A’ja Wilson speaks on the work done by Heat’s Bam Adebayo

After the historic 83-point game, Adebayo told ClutchPoints it didn’t matter to him that he made history until he hugged his mother and Wilson as they both witnessed the tremendous work he did. Wilson would echo those sentiments when speaking to the media alongside Adebayo on Tuesday.

“I know he says I’m his inspiration,” Wilson said. “But I don’t think he has any idea how much he inspires me to continue to be who I am.”

Wilson continued, “I see the countless hours he put in, I see the early-morning workouts, the question-and-answers, the self-doubt, all that.” “And I’m grateful that God is really special to her. God doesn’t play around with balms.”

At any rate, the power couple now have massive points totals for their respective leagues as Adebayo holds the second-highest scoring game with 83 points, and Wilson holds the record for most points in a WNBA game with 53 points. As a result, Adebayo now looks to continue leading the Heat and extend their seven-game winning streak against the Orlando Magic on Saturday.

Bam Adebayo hits back at critics amid ‘unethical’ 83-point game label

MIAMI – There’s no denying the sports world is buzzing about Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo, who scored 83 points against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night, surpassing Kobe Bryant’s 81 points to become the second-highest scoring game in a game. While there is debate about the “ethics” of the Heat captain’s 83-point outing, the big man himself spoke about the play after Miami’s 112-105 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Adebayo’s 83-point night drew polarizing reactions, from the center celebrating to making incredible NBA history, with the other side questioning the performance due to a myriad of factors, especially in the fourth quarter. Whether it’s the 43 free-throw attempts or Miami’s strategy of passing the game to gain more possessions, these have been some talking points.

There has also been discussion about whether Adebayo should have surpassed Bryant’s mark in starts, saying that instead of making history, he would have taken himself out of the game. Adebayo will have a message for the “couch coach”, touching on every criticism of the 83-point game, mentioning Washington’s poor defense, and aiming to surpass Bryant’s milestone.

“First of all, you all are blaming me; you should blame their head coach,” Adebayo told ClutchPoints. “Get it first. I wasn’t going to let one go the whole game until I had 70. Then you started sending the double. At that point, I got 70 with, like, what, nine minutes left in the game. Do you think I’m not going for that?”

“And that’s the thing that’s crazy,” Adebayo continued. “When they talk about the unethical part of basketball. I’m like, I’ve got nine minutes left now. Who would be like, you know, coach, just take me out. Yeah, OK! There’s somebody in my spot who’s got nine minutes left? One minute? OK. Nine? Yeah, I’m going for it. You can’t be mad at that. If you’re mad, I don’t care.”

With Adebayo scoring 83 points and the Heat having a broader impact on a franchise making league history, the impact of Thursday’s win over the Bucks can’t be denied. Adebayo would still make his presence felt in the contest, scoring 21 points with eight rebounds, but one could tell the fatigue was emotionally and physically draining on Tuesday.

For 21 points, he shot six of 20 from the field and missed all five of his three-point attempts, but it was the fourth quarter that turned his night around. Entering the final frame with eight points, he scored a crucial 13 points, making nine of 12 from the free-throw line, helping Pelle Larsson finish with a career night with a total of 28 points.

It was certainly a quiet game for Adebayo, who made 43 shots, 22 from deep and 43 free-throw attempts on Tuesday, the most in association history. Adebayo continued the criticism, saying he was “being humiliated every time”, which the film proves.

“Because a lot of guys, they’re upset because if they played, they never would have had a chance to get close to chasing greatness,” Adebayo said. “And if you get that close to chasing greatness, that’s the point of chasing it, so you can surpass it. And some guys have never played basketball.”

“They’re going to talk about free throws. It’s not like I shoot 15 free throws a game,” Adebayo added. “It’s not like I averaged 10 free throws a game. I was, you can watch the film, I was legitimately getting fouled every time I went to the free-throw line.”

At any rate, Adebayo’s 83-point game will continue to be talked about, but for now the main focus is on Miami as they look to extend their seven-game winning streak (a season-high) with a crucial game on Saturday night against the Orlando Magic.

Mike gets heated with sharp reaction to Bucks’ Bam Adebayo shade

It was back to regular programming for the Miami Heat on Thursday night, as Bam Adebayo recorded just 21 points in their 112-105 win over the Milwaukee Bucks after scoring the second-most points in a game (83 points) in association history. No one realistically expected Adebayo to reach such heights on Tuesday against the Washington Wizards, and the performance he delivered against the Bucks on this night far exceeds what is expected of him to perform on a nightly basis.

Undoubtedly, Adebayo is the talk of the town, because what he did against the Wizards was amazing and impossible to believe. And even though the Bucks lost, they poked a little fun at the fact that Adebayo scored 62 fewer points on Thursday than he did on Tuesday, which is a feat for a struggling Milwaukee team.

The official post on X after the Bucks’ loss read, “The Bombs did not score 83 points.”

What followed was a response from the Heat social media team, with the Bucks dropping the mic with a brutal response to Adebayo.

“Wasn’t needed…obviously…” the Heat’s response reads.

Heat still get win after Bam Adebayo comes back to earth

The true testament to the talent of the Heat culture is that there is a clear unselfishness that defines the team, especially with some of their key guys like Tyler Herro, Andrew Wiggins and Norman Powell all battling injuries.

On Thursday, it was Pelle Larsson who had the time of his life; Although he didn’t drop anything close to 83 points, he did score 28 points for himself, the best number of his career. The Heat continue to produce quality players left and right, the ultimate effect of their renowned culture.

Erik Spoelstra reveals the hidden impact of Bam Adebayo’s 83-point night

MIAMI – After Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo had his 83-point game on Tuesday night, there was no denying how this performance would be immortalized in NBA history. As the sports world debates whether or not the Heat captain’s 83-point night was unethical, no one can take away from Adebayo’s special night for the positives it could have on its lasting impact on the team.

Adebayo will break franchise records and reach major milestones, but what matters most is that his 83 points on Tuesday against the Washington Wizards surpassed Kobe Bryant’s 81 points, giving him the second-highest scoring game ever.

The loss meant the win dropped them to sixth place in the Eastern Conference, eliminating them from the play-in tournament for the time being, although they head into Thursday’s contest against the Milwaukee Bucks with 16 games left in the season. The outcome of even one game could impact the standings, with Miami holding just a half-game lead over the seventh-seeded Toronto Raptors.

If there’s one of many things that Adebayo can do to score 83 points in a game, it’s to inspire the team to greener pastures ahead, as head coach Erik Spoelstra mentioned.

“It was motivation the other night. And maybe motivation needs to be motivating tonight,” Spoelstra said. “So maybe there will be some X factors.”

“The situation we’re in right now, it’s not going to happen unless we create the environment for that game,” Spoelstra added. “Bam set the tone with his energy and will in that first quarter, and that type of energy and effort and motivation, maybe it comes from him, but maybe it comes from a lot of other players who inspire effort in any other game that means just as much in the standings.”

While the big man’s night was special in every imaginable way, some were complaining about the Heat’s Adebayo the way he scored 83 points, whether it was the massive amount of free throws and intentional fouling in the fourth quarter.

Some have cited Spoelstra as one of the main reasons for questions about the “ethics” of the performance. As for Spoelstra, he stood ten feet down on the outing and said, “I’m not apologizing to anyone.”

Asked about the word ‘ethics’ being thrown around in criticism, Spoelstra told ClutchPoints, “I’m not losing any sleep over what other people are saying about it.” “What’s ethical? What’s not? Is it ethical to foul a three-point shooter? Is that ethical or not? Is it ethical to foul a bad free-throw shooter and get an extra possession, you know or not? Like all these things happened in under two minutes, he had already broken a lot of records, and we’re going to go for it. It was an amazing moment to be a part of that.”

“And I would do it again 10 times out of 10 for Bam,” Spoelstra continued. “I feel very good for Bam, because he’s about all the right things.”

At any rate, Adebayo’s historic 83-point night has immortalized him in history as one that will always be remembered, no matter how the discourse looks. In terms of boosting Miami’s playoff run, the team looks to take advantage of this, as after Thursday against the Bucks, the Heat will face the Orlando Magic on Saturday night in an important matchup.

(Rhona Wise)

Erik Spoelstra calls haters of Bam Adebayo’s 83-point game ‘immoral’

MIAMI – As Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo made NBA history by scoring 83 points in the team’s 150-128 win over the Washington Wizards, surpassing Kobe Bryant’s 81 for the second-highest scoring game ever, the conversation is polarizing. With the NBA world reacting to the Heat captain’s 83-point night, with some saying there should be an asterisk next to the game and others questioning the ethics, came head coach Erik Spoelstra’s response.

There was no denying a special night for Adebayo, who etched his name in the annals of NBA history by scoring 83 points, capping a dominant performance by Washington that few had seen before. However, people have pointed to the 43 free-throw attempts, the team intentionally committing fouls to gain more possession, and other examples of a lackluster night.

If there’s one word that’s been floating around on social media about comparing Adebayo’s game to Bryant’s game in 2006, it’s that some people say one word is more “ethical” than the other. For Spoelstra, those who have raised their voices on the matter did not take into account history and said that this in itself is “immoral”.

“I think most of the people who probably made comments didn’t watch the game, it’s irresponsible or unethical,” Spoelstra told ClutchPoints. “You don’t even understand the context of the game, like it was a 13-point game. I remember going back into the huddle after the timeout, and [Assistant coach Chris Quinn] Said, “‘Hey, we’ve got to win this game, like we’re chasing something, and that’s great, but we’ve got to win this game.'”

“It was a 13-point game with nine more turnovers, and then bang, we hit three threes in a row… and then his total kept going up. Everything, I would say, was pretty traditional, if you want to say that, until it was the last two minutes, and then we have the autonomy to do whatever we want in those two minutes, whether people think it’s pure or moral or not. Bam and what a great moment it is for this franchise and the city.”

Heat’s Erik Spoelstra: ‘I’m not apologizing to anyone’

Opinions coming from Tuesday night were all over the place, with one reporter, Sam Amick of The Athletic, even saying that the Heat center in Adebayo should have taken out the game before breaking Bryant’s mark to honor his legacy. As negotiations continue in the near future, Spoelstra has doubled down on his actions to help Adebayo achieve association history.

“I don’t care, I’m not losing sleep over what other people are saying about it,” Spoelstra said. “What’s ethical?

“And I would do it again 10 times out of 10 for Bam, I’m not apologizing to anybody about that,” Spoelstra added. “I feel great for Bam, because he’s about all the right things, you know. And already in our walkthrough, he’s talking about defense, and we’ve got to prepare our defense to rock tonight. But as a leader, the other night, you know, to set the tone for that game, they can be tough games. I thought it was the leadership personality, and then it went on steroids from there, and it just went off the hill. Became a snowball rolling down.”

With people questioning efficiency, this may have been more evidence that some people weren’t following the game, as Adebayo scored 31 points in the first quarter, 43 in the first half, shooting 54 percent from the field (13/24), 45 percent from deep (5/11).

Over the course of three quarters, he scored 62 points (17/35) on 49 percent shooting from the field, with the final frame being the highlight of those free throws, although Washington’s defense was poor and unable to stop Adebayo. At any rate, no one can take away from Adebayo that he has solidified himself among the greats as he looks to lead Miami into Thursday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks and beyond.

Bam Adebayo gives Tyrese Haliburton confidence in Wilt Chamberlain

Some NBA history was made last night when Bam Adebayo exploded for 83 points. As he continues to recover from injury, the Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton explained how Adebayo’s 83 point-game helped him believe the fact that Wilt Chamberlain had 100 points in a game.

Haliburton was considering the belief that Chamberlain did not reach 100 points. But after seeing Adebayo, he believed it. Adebayo’s 83 points generated some controversy, particularly regarding how he did it. But it was still an amazing feat that was almost unheard of in 2026. Most of the NBA watched Adebayo and contemplated the game, and Haliburton had time to observe as he continued to recover.

Haliburton’s discomfort worsened during Game 7 of the NBA Finals. Since then, he has been forced to watch the rest of the NBA while he recovers. The Pacers are currently 15-50, which is the worst record in the NBA. Assuming Haliburton is able to return next season, he could have a top draft pick in the future. Meanwhile, the Miami Heat are in sixth place in the Eastern Conference while attempting to make some noise.

Adebayo played the best game of his career in a blowout win over the Washington Wizards. As everyone talks about this career game, it also put Adebayo’s name in the history books. He is currently third on the Heat in scoring. That’s what makes this monster game so amazing. As Adebayo comes out on top in this game, he will look to continue leading the Heat to victory as they host the Milwaukee Bucks in their next matchup.

Bam Adebayo gets tough message from Kawhi Leonard after 83-point game

The NBA world continues to react to Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo’s spectacular 83-point performance. As NBA players and coaches continue to share their insights about the game, even the best players are not holding back.

On Wednesday night, the LA Clippers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 153-128, led by a 45-point effort from Kawhi Leonard. In his 32 minutes of play, Kawhi scored 45 points, grabbed five rebounds, dished out five assists, and missed only five of his 30 total shot attempts on the night.

After the game, Leonard was asked about Bam Adebayo scoring 83 points, and he gave a very Kawhi Leonard answer.

“I haven’t had a chance to see it, but it’s amazing,” Leonard said. “He’s a hard-working guy, getting better every year. It’s something to see. I’m happy for him.”

Bam Adebayo finished his historic night by scoring 83 points with nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocked shots in 42 minutes of play. Adebayo shot 20 of 43 from the field, 7 of 22 from three and 36 of 43 from the free throw line.

With the points total, Adebayo passed Kobe Bryant for the second-highest scoring game in NBA history, trailing only Wilt Chamberlain.

Leonard was one of the few NBA superstars who has had incredible performances. Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo praised Adebayo for the effort and dismissed any notion that Adebayo’s play was not impressive.

“It’s unbelievable,” Antetokounmpo said after the Bucks’ home loss to the Suns on Wednesday night. “83 is incredible. It says a lot about his hard work. I haven’t seen the game yet, I have to see the game. He took 43 free throws? It doesn’t matter how you got there. What matters is that you got it. Like 10, 20, 30 years from now, no one will remember how many free throw shots he shot. I don’t think I remember how many shots Kobe shot or how many free throws he made or Three. You don’t remember that, Wilt.

“At the end of the day, he got 83 points. Amazing way to help his team win. I know his family and close friends are extremely excited and happy for him. The game reflects his hard work. I know that Bam, he works hard every day, never cheats the game. It’s incredible to see a guy like him do that.”

Even Kevin Durant, who spent time with Adebayo during Team USA’s Olympic gold medal run in 2024, expressed his interest in the Heat star having a big scoring night.

“I couldn’t believe it when I heard it in real time,” the Houston Rockets star said Wednesday. “It seems like he got 30 in the first quarter. Congratulations to Bam. I know how much he works. I looked at the stat sheet, it’s crazy. He had 40 shots, 40 free throws, 20 threes. It takes a lot of stamina, a lot of energy to make those shots and then make them, set a record, surpass Kobe as the second-highest scorer in the history of the game. Congratulations to him. That’s a huge accomplishment to be talking about.” I’ll always keep talking.”

Bam Adebayo’s big night will surely have more players speaking out as he continues to be asked about it, but one thing is for sure: NBA stars and the Miami Heat star’s teammates are excited for the new, second-best scorer in NBA history.

Bam Adebayo reveals Michael Jordan’s message after 83-point explosion

Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo made headlines after dropping 83 points in their win over the Washington Wizards at Cassia Center on Tuesday. Adebayo immediately became the biggest story in sports, as many were in disbelief at his unique accomplishment.

Even the GOAT, who has chosen to stay away from the spotlight, took notice.

Many congratulated Adebayo for setting the second-highest scoring game in league history, but arguably the most important of them was none other than NBA legend Michael Jordan.

In an interview with ESPN, Adebayo revealed what Jordan told him during the five-time MVP contacted.

“Just congratulations. Very brief. Short and sweet. You know Mike. He’s not talking much,” Adebayo said.

When “his alter ego” moves forward to welcome you, you definitely know you have done something special.

Jordan is quite familiar with Adebayo, as Adebayo is one of the top endorsers of Jordan Brand. He even wore yet-to-be-released Air Jordans against the Wizards.

Some people decried Adebayo’s crazy act. NBA icon Robert Horry said it should have an asterisk because Adebayo shot 43 free throws and “didn’t respect the game.” Meanwhile, Philadelphia 76ers forward Kelly Oubre Jr. claimed that Adebayo was not efficient in scoring 83 points.
Others said Adebayo was merely stat-padding.

However, it cannot be denied that the 28-year-old Adebayo has achieved a rare feat. He still had to make those shots and put in the work. No amount of criticism will erase the fact that Adebayo has rewritten history.

Plus, it already has the Jordanian seal of approval.

(A’ja Wilson)

Bam Adebayo credits A’ja Wilson for historic 83-point game

While the Miami Heat’s Bam Adebayo had a historic night by scoring 83 points against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday, March 11, the NBA star is giving credit to his girlfriend, WNBA star A’Ja Wilson.

During a press conference after the game, Adebayo made sure to thank Wilson who was present to witness his historic feat.

“She was complaining about how I got 10,000 points and she wanted me to wait until I got 83 points. [points] “His first game here is very special,” Adebayo told the press.

Wilson was not only present to witness that magical night when Adebayo had the second-highest scoring game in NBA history with 83 points, but he also credits him for everything he did for him.

He said of his girlfriend, “The behind-the-scenes footage, the workouts and the conversations are very inspiring. Obviously, you see what she does and you’re inspired by her every day.” “I’m grateful to have her in my life.”

Adebayo beat his basketball idol, the late Kobe Bryant, who had previously scored 81 points in a single game and ranked No. 2 behind Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point game in 1962.

“Wilt, me, then Kobe,” Adebayo said after the game. “It sounds crazy.”

“For me, it was just staying calm, staying locked in and understanding that I could go on to do something special,” Adebayo said. “I didn’t think it was going to be 83. But to have this moment is surreal, because like I said, man, to be able to do it at home, in front of your mom, in front of your people, in front of the home fans, it’s a mark in history that will be remembered forever.”

Adebayo finished the night with impressive stats: 20 of 43 from the field, 36 of 43 from the foul line, 7 of 22 from 3-point range.

Cam Payne claims he had the night on Bam Adebayo on March 10

On Tuesday evening, the Philadelphia 76ers got back in the win column with a home win over the Memphis Grizzlies. The story of this game was point guard Cameron Payne, who scored 32 points on an astonishing 8-8 shot from beyond the three-point line, giving the 76ers a huge boost after recently signing there.

Unfortunately, Payne’s night, and everything that happened in the NBA on Tuesday, was overshadowed by Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo’s historic 83-point explosion in a blowout win over the Washington Wizards.

However, that wasn’t going to stop Payne from feeling himself after his historic game against Memphis.

“To be honest, I was worried about Cam Payne,” Cam Payne said to the ex, formerly of PhillyVoice, on Twitter, according to Adam Aronson. “Bombs can’t take over my night… March 10th, it’s all me.”

The Grizzlies controlled the game for most of the night before turning out their starters in a blatant tanking effort in the fourth quarter, after which Philadelphia immediately responded with a 20–2 run.

The 76ers learned earlier in the day that star guard Tyrese Maxey will be out of the lineup for at least three weeks after injuring his hand in a recent road loss to the Atlanta Hawks. Philadelphia has been declining in the rankings due to injury absences in recent weeks, with the team being overtaken by the Heat and falling into the play-in region as the season approaches its home stretch.

The 76ers will be desperately hoping that Joel Embiid will be able to return from injury at some point in the near future, and are also counting down the days until Paul George’s suspension ends.

In any case, the 76ers will next take the field on Thursday evening for a tough road game against the Detroit Pistons.

The NBA world reacts to Bam Adebayo’s 83-point game

Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo scored a career-high 83 points, the second-highest scoring game in NBA history, surpassing Kobe Bryant’s 81-point performance in 2006. Only Wilt Chamberlain and his 100-point game exceed Adebayo.

In 42 minutes of play, Bam Adebayo finished with 83 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocked shots. He shot 20 of 43 from the field, 7 of 22 from three and 36 of 43 from the free throw line in the historic game.

Adebayo set a new record with 43 free throws in a game, surpassing Dwight Howard’s record of 39.

Many players and coaches from around the NBA world reacted to Adebayo’s terrible scoring night, including some of the league’s best scorers.

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo offered his support to Adebayo after the Bucks’ home loss to the Phoenix Suns.

“Unbelievable,” Antetokounmpo said. I don’t think I remember how many shots Kobe shot or how many free throws he made or That’s 81. You don’t remember that, at the end of the day he’s got 83 points. I know he works hard every day.”

Bam Adebayo’s former Olympic teammate in Kevin Durant of the Houston Rockets was also surprised by the accomplishment.

“I couldn’t believe it when I heard it in real time,” Durant said after his team’s game. “It seems like he got 30 in the first quarter. Congratulations to Bam. I know how much he works. I looked at the stat-sheet, it’s crazy. He had 40 shots, 40 free throws, 20 threes. It takes a lot of stamina, a lot of energy to make those shots and then make them, set a record, surpassing Kobe as the second-highest scorer in the history of the game. Congratulations to him. It’s a huge accomplishment.” Which we will always talk about.

San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama appeared to be more dismissive of the accomplishment in his postgame interview after the Spurs defeated the Boston Celtics.

“Yes, I see,” Vembanyama said before pausing. “I think we’re in a league where there’s a lot of inspiration to look at, but yes I looked…”

Rockets head coach Ime Udoka also seemed a little dismissive of the 83-point performance.

“The first thing you think about is how, not because of him, but because of the way he plays,” Udoka said. “I saw he only made six threes, but 40 free throws or something. That tells the story right there. And the Washington Wizards.”

Philadelphia 76ers forward Kelly Oubre expressed another opinion, crediting his Sixers teammate Joel Embiid.

“Well, I’m going to say it’s definitely legendary,” Aubrey said. “Hats off to the box-score, the numbers, and Bam. He’s etched himself in history. I’m sad that he bested Kobe, he’s definitely one of my favorite players, but I’ll just say, Joel did it masterfully and he did it in three quarters.”

Following Anthony Edwards and the Los Angeles Lakers’ home win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, Lakers head coach JJ Redick explained where he was watching the game from and how he found out about the news.

“It’s incredible what he was able to do,” Reddick said. “I went in and I looked at the score. He was at the free throw line and they’ve been playing great basketball lately. I told my coaching staff, ‘The Heat is on.’ He looked at me and said, ‘Are you kidding right now?’ I said, ‘No, what’s happening?’ They are 36-28, they will be 37-28. And they say, ‘No, Bam has 77.’ And I was like, ‘Huh?!’ I watched the last three minutes and it was a different kind of basketball.

There will surely be more players and coaches shouting out Bam Adebayo’s accomplishment on Wednesday night, but so far, there have been mixed reactions to the Heat star’s 83-point night.

Following his 83-point game, Bam Adebayo is now averaging 20 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game, while shooting 44.8 percent from the field and 32.9 percent from the free throw line.

Giannis hits back at haters who were criticizing how Bam Adebayo got 83 points

Regardless of how you feel about Bam Adebayo’s performance against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night, he still recorded 83 points, the second-highest scoring game by a player in NBA history. It was an incredible moment and accomplishment for Adebayo and the Miami Heat, which is why many, including Giannis Antetokounmpo, will be paying tribute to the Heat star.

Because he was also playing well on Tuesday night, Giannis wasn’t really able to see live what was happening in South Beach on Tuesday night, when Adebayo passed Kobe Bryant’s 81-point mark and fell behind only Wilt Chamberlain on the all-time single-game scoring list. However, Antetokounmpo wants everyone to stop and appreciate what really happened.

More importantly, Giannis doesn’t want the stigma against Adebayo to continue.

“Unbelievable. Incredible. Says a lot about his hard work. I haven’t watched the game. I have to watch the game and see,” Antetokounmpo said of Adebayo’s 83-point game after the Milwaukee Bucks lost to the Phoenix Suns 129-114. “It doesn’t matter how you got it. It just means that you got it.”

“In 10, 20, 30 years from now, no one is going to remember how many free throws he shot. I don’t think I remember how many shots Kobe made, or how many free throws he made, or three. You just remember 81, 100. You don’t remember that, you know?”

Unlike some players who used their platform to criticize Adebayo’s performance due to his free throws and hunting shots at the end of the game, Giannis Baum can’t respect what he did enough.

Although they may play on different teams and compete against each other in the Eastern Conference, what many people don’t know is that Antetokounmpo and Adebayo have a close relationship with each other. These two NBA All-Stars share the same agent, and they have great respect for each other.

That’s why Giannis Adebayo couldn’t be happier and he won’t tolerate any infamy coming his way.

Antetokounmpo added, “I know his family, his close friends, are extremely excited and happy for him.” “And again, it speaks volumes about his hard work. I know Bam. He works hard every day. He never cheats the game. And to see a guy like him do something like that is incredible.”

Interestingly enough, Adebayo and Antetokounmpo will be playing against each other on Thursday, which will be Bam’s first game after creating history with his 83-point performance.

While Giannis will be celebrating Adebayo’s accomplishment and congratulating him on the accomplishment, the Bucks star sent a humorous message to his friend in Miami ahead of this matchup.

“He’s going to score 82,” Giannis said with a smile. “So, we try our best for him to score 82, not 83.”

Coach calls Bam Adebayo’s 83-point game fake basketball

Bam Adebayo did the unthinkable on Tuesday night when he scored 83 points in the Miami Heat’s 150-129 win over the Washington Wizards. Despite scoring the second-most points ever in a single NBA game, Washington head coach Brian Keefe didn’t seem too impressed with Adebayo’s performance at the end of the contest.

The 49-year-old head coach credited Adebayo for playing well in the first half of the game. However, during the post-game press conference, Keefe explained that as the game progressed, it began to feel like a fake basketball game, especially in the fourth quarter.

“I give [Adebayo] Credit to the first half, Keefe said. “He hit the ball brilliantly, he scored really well with the ball… [The Heat] Obviously kept him in the game. You know, there were a lot of wrong calls. 16 free throws in the fourth quarter…

“He still got some free throws from 40 feet to the rim. I can’t explain some of those calls… The turnovers and the offensive rebounds, the possession game was definitely important. We only lost the game by seven in the second half, but the fourth quarter turned into a real basketball game.”

The Wizards coach also pointed to Turnov and offensive rebounding as major reasons for Washington losing the game. Washington turned the ball over 23 times compared to the Heat’s 16, while on the offensive end the team was outscored four times for 15. Ultimately, Keefe claimed that it was a mistake for him and his team to allow Adebayo to take control of the game.

36 of Bam Adebayo’s 83 points came from the free-throw line, a new NBA record for most free throws made in a single contest. The 28-year-old center recorded 21 points from beyond the three-point line, while shooting 31.8% from deep. The remaining 26 points scored by Adebayo came within two-point range, the majority of which were within the key. He also recorded nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block.

Insiders believe Bam should have investigated after matching Kobe

The Miami Heat’s Bam Adebayo scored 83 against the Washington Wizards, surpassing Kobe Bryant’s epic 81-point game by two points. The Heat controlled the game from beginning to end and won their sixth consecutive victory.

However, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic, it may have been better for Adebayo not to chase Bryant’s 81-point total. NBA insiders believe Bryant’s untimely death has overshadowed his most cherished accomplishments as a Lakers superstar.

“Based on human nature, his death puts more weight on each of his best-loved adventures and creates a feeling that they should be handled with a certain kind of care. And judging by the reaction of some of the people from Bryant’s past with whom I was in touch after Adebayo’s exit, this feeling was not unique,” Amick said.

He claimed that Adebayo’s record-breaking night was also the result of ‘stat-chasing’ and that the potential decision to step down would have been seen as a noble decision. Of course, his teammates also ended up committing fouls to help him score points.

“What will be less noted is how the Heat helped Adebayo with his total, drawing intentional fouls in those final minutes to put the game away and ultimately giving him two final free throws with 1:16 remaining before he left.”

Adebayo finished with 20-42 from the field and 7-22 from beyond the arc. They converted 36-43 of their free throws and relied on fouls to keep points.

Amick concluded, “Still, Adebayo’s performance was very different from Bryant’s, and you didn’t have to watch his entire inning to see that much.”

Of course, fans could argue the opposite, and claim the fact that Adebayo passed Bryant was not a case of lack of respect. Given the modern NBA’s consistently huge point totals, Kobe’s record was always in danger.

Bam Adebayo’s 83-point game deserves an asterisk, according to Lakers legend

While many NBA veterans celebrated Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo’s historic 83 points, a fair share of the negativity originated from fans of the Los Angeles Lakers and Kobe Bryant. It was Bryant’s 81 points that Adebayo surpassed, and count former Lakers forward and Bryant’s former teammate Robert Horry as someone who wasn’t exactly thrilled with the performance.

During a segment on Spectrum Sportsnet, Robert Horry criticized Bam Adebayo’s 83 points during the Heat’s win against the Washington Wizards, citing the alleged manner in which he accomplished the historic feat.

Horry said, “83 points is impressive. But it gets to a point where you have to respect the game. And I think there were moments in this game where it wasn’t respected.” “83 points is a lot, I appreciate the effort, and it’s going to go down as the second-most points in the game. But it’s like you always say on certain things, there should be an asterisk by it, I’m putting an asterisk by it. It’s still a lot. I’m not taking anything away from Bam, it’s a lot.”

There is no doubt that what Horry was referring to was the end of the game in which the Heat intentionally fouled to extend the game and gain additional possessions to help Adebayo break Bryant’s record.

Adebayo’s historic night gives him the second-most points scored by an individual player behind Wilt Chamberlain’s 100. He is now only one of three players to reach 80 or more points in a single game. Meanwhile, there are a few players who have hit 70 and above, including current players Luka Doncic, Devin Booker, Joel Embiid, Donovan Mitchell and Damian Lillard as well as former players Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor, David Robinson and David Thompson.

Bam Adebayo’s past moves in an 83-point explosion similar to Devin Booker’s

There is no doubt that Bam Adebayo’s 83-point performance for the Miami Heat on March 10 was one of the best individual performances in NBA history. His scoring explosion resulted in him ranking second all-time in single-game scoring, behind only Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point game in 1962. While monster scoring games have become more common in recent years, it was rare to see players exceed the 60-point threshold after Chamberlain’s playing days ended. After all, the greatest center of all-time scored 60 or more points 32 times out of 92 ever.

Sure, Kobe Bryant scored 81 points in 2006, but it wasn’t until Devin Booker’s 70-point performance on March 24, 2017, that extremely high-scoring affairs really started happening with more regularity. As impressive as Adebayo, Booker and other 70-plus point games in recent history were, it’s also clear that many of these scoring outputs were a bit inflated. Late-game machinations resulted in a monster scoring performance that turned out to be something else entirely. Adebayo and Booker similarly went from playing basketball at the highest level for most of the game, then taking part in what some saw as not actually playing actual basketball, in pursuit of the record books.

Both players turned in their iconic performances, as well as their respective teams, to score 70 points (Booker) and surpass Bryant’s scoring mark (Adebayo) late in the game. So, were these late pranks worth it?

A look at the career nights of Devin Booker and Bam Adebayo

As mentioned above, in 2017, such high-scoring games weren’t really as important as they are now. Booker was the leader in that regard as he scored 70 points. Therefore, it was necessary to take a page out of Chamberlain’s book and draw the number 70 on a piece of paper. Booker scored 70 in his second season in the league at just 20 years old, making him not only the youngest 70-point scorer, but also the youngest player to cross the 60-point mark.

His Phoenix Suns were not very good at that time, so Booker had to carry a heavy burden for the team. He wasn’t actually to blame for Phoenix losing that match, as the shooting guard really did everything in his power to try to lead his team to victory. Still, knowing that it ended in a relatively decisive defeat takes away a bit of the charm from Booker’s performance.

While Booker was playing a huge game regardless, a lot of his points didn’t come until the last few minutes of the game when it was already getting out of hand. He had 19 points at halftime and 42 points by the end of the third quarter. He then broke the franchise scoring record with 61 points at the 1:49 mark. From there, Booker scored 70 points, hitting one shot after another with less than two minutes remaining. No one on his team was attempting to score, even if it meant giving his team a better chance of realistically coming back.

The same thing was happening in Adebayo’s iconic game. His Heat teammates were even intentionally missing free throws to give Adebayo a potential chance to get more possessions and shots. Adebayo was also clearly foul-baiting in order to get to the free throw line at the end of the game. Some would argue that it destroys the prestige and honor of the glorious game of basketball.

Adebayo scored his 79th point with 2:05 left in the game, surpassing Chamberlain for third most points ever. He tied Bryant with 81 points at the 1:37 mark, and the 82nd and 83rd points took him into sole possession of the second-highest scoring game of all time at the 1:16 mark.

While Adebayo was clearly unconscious from everywhere on the floor all night, all six of those record-breaking late-game points came from the charity stripe. The Heat also won in blowout fashion, 150-129. While Adebayo was often singled out because of that wasted time, it should be appreciated that his scoring directly led to a huge win.

Regardless, what Adebayo and Booker did was impressive, no matter how you try to spin it. No one else has ever scored 83 points for some reason. Despite what some would consider borderline unethical play late, both players were clearly playing incredible games. Whatever happens, they deserved to have their names entered in the record books.

Stephen A. Smith ‘trashes’ Wizards on Bam Adebayo’s 83-point game

Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo delivered one of the most historic scoring performances in NBA history on Monday night, but ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith directed most of the post-game discussion toward the Washington Wizards’ defense following Miami’s 150-129 win.

Adebayo scored 83 points – the second-highest scoring total in NBA history – leading the Heat to their sixth consecutive win, drawing widespread reaction throughout the league. During Tuesday’s broadcast of ESPN’s First Take, Smith criticized the Wizards’ defensive effort, arguing that Washington offered little resistance as Adebayo put up points all night.

Smith made his comments while discussing the game with co-host Chris Russo.

“It’s not Bam Adebayo’s fault. Brother had 31 points in the first quarter, he had 43 points at halftime, he had 62 points in three quarters, he had 70 points with nine minutes left. It’s not his fault the Washington Wizards suck. It’s not his fault you really got him a career night because he hasn’t put up much resistance in a while.”

Adebayo’s scoring progression reflects the dominance referenced by Smith. The 28-year-old started the game with 31 points in the first quarter and reached 43 points at halftime. He had 62 points entering the fourth quarter and crossed the 70-point mark with nine minutes remaining.

Stephen A. Smith says Wizards defense ‘tainted’ Bam Adebayo’s historic 83-point game

Smith also suggested that the circumstances surrounding the conclusion of the game contributed to the historic score.

“Then you’re talking about the Cats that are deliberately hitting people with fouls to get more possessions to give Bam Adebayo a chance at the record and things like that. Obviously he’s tarnished it, it’s not his fault. He went out there and did what he was supposed to do. And even though he didn’t shoot 50% from the field – last time I checked, shooting 48% from the field. 47% shots aren’t bad either. He shot 20 out of 43, right? It wasn’t like he shot 13 for 43.

Adebayo finished the night with 83 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks in 42 minutes. He shot 20 of 43 from the field, 7 of 22 from three-point range, and 36 of 43 from the free-throw line, while posting a team-best plus-20 rating.

Smith compared the performance to Kobe Bryant’s famous 81-point game in 2006, noting the difference in reaction from opposing defenses.

“When Kobe did that, he did it in the flow of his game and in the game itself. It got to the point where they were giving him the rock because they knew Kobe was going for it. He made 28 of 46 shots, 7 of 13 threes, he was in attack mode. I know Toronto Raptors coach Sam Mitchell… what did he say? We did everything, we doubled him. We did everything we could. We changed the guards on that.

Smith says Heat star should be celebrated

Smith followed up his criticism of the Wizards by defending Adebayo’s performance.

“Obviously that was not the case with Bam Adebayo last night. But you can point the finger [Erik] Spoelstra, you can point the finger at his teammates, you can point the finger at how brutal the Washington Wizards were last night and it will be a stain on their franchise for years to come. But you can’t blame Bam Adebayo because obviously he was doing it and knew it from the first quarter because he had never seen a game like this in his life.

Despite Smith’s criticism of Washington, he stressed that Adebayo’s accomplishment deserves recognition.

“But this is a day where he should be celebrated because he’s one of those good guys who grabs his lunch bill and comes to work every day and does his best… Congratulations to him. This is his moment.”

The performance added another milestone to Adebayo’s season. Through 58 games, the Heat center is averaging 20 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.1 steals, while shooting 44.8% from the field and 32.9% from three-point range.

Miami improved to 37-29 with Monday’s win, extending its winning streak to six games and moving into the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference standings.

Victor Wembanyama ignored Bam Adebayo’s 83-point game in the most Whamby way possible

Victor Wembanyama may be one of the NBA’s best players, but he’s also a basketball fan like the rest of us. That’s why Wembley, like many people around the world, was watching Bam Adebayo’s historic 83-point performance for the Miami Heat on Tuesday night, the second-highest scoring game in NBA history.

Adebayo, who made history on Tuesday night, has mesmerized NBA players, personnel and fans, leading to a variety of opinions regarding his 83-point game.

Some, such as Giannis Antetokounmpo, have saluted Bam’s performance, claiming it to be an “incredible” accomplishment. There are also those who are dismissing this performance and claiming that Adebayo did not properly score 83 points due to his 43 free-throw attempts.

And then there’s Wembanyama, who basically ignored what Adebayo did and didn’t actually give his opinion on the 83 points.

“Yeah, I saw (it),” Wembanyama said of Adebayo’s game on Tuesday night before a long pause. “We play in a league where there’s a lot of motivation to watch. But yes, I watched.”

Of course, Wembanyama ended his answer in the most Wembey way possible and shrugged his shoulders and moved on to the next question about the San Antonio Spurs’ big 125-116 win over the Boston Celtics, which extended the Spurs’ winning streak to five games.

Although he’s not as animated or critical in his press conferences as Gregg Popovich was throughout his years with the Spurs, Wembanyama has never been one to share his full thoughts on things. He gives cryptic answers about his greatness, and that’s why we shouldn’t have expected anything different from his answer about Bam Adebayo on Tuesday night.

Perhaps Wembley leans one way or the other regarding Bam’s 83-point performance, but his answer was spot-on in the sense that he understands his opinion doesn’t really matter. Adebayo scored 83 points, whether people want to admit it or not, and for Wembley, this performance has no impact on him or the Spurs’ season.

That’s why his reply was short and sweet, with no additional context, sarcasm or anything of that nature.

Will Vembanyama use this as additional motivation to chase his scoring record? It’s certainly possible, but Wemby isn’t one to let the accomplishments of others dictate his career path.

Given the Spurs’ success this season and his own personal accolades, Wembanyama has more to worry about than Adebayo’s amazing performances for the Heat. And so, his response and shrug regarding Bam’s 83 points is exactly what one should have expected from Wembanyama.
