football scandal report over the 31-year-old’s comments today. His focus remains on Aston Villa and continuing his impressive debut season at Villa Park.

aston villa success

Victor Nilsson Lindelof was a surprise signing for Aston Villa last summer, arriving on a free transfer after leaving Manchester United.

He has been at Old Trafford since 2017, but has struggled during his eight years there, with injuries limiting his impact under different managers.

However, Aston Villa planned to take him for free, as they wanted to strengthen Unai Emery’s options in a difficult summer transfer window.

The move proved smart as he became a utility player under the Spanish boss, finishing the campaign with 28 appearances and 1784 minutes in all competitions. 10 of them came in their successful Europa League campaign, where he also played as a midfielder.

No Allsvenskan move

His current deal expires next summer, but at the moment he is not interested in any talks about his future.

Asked about still playing for Aston Villa, he said: “Yeah, that’s the aim right now.”

“My body feels good, so I feel good. I’ve played with constant pain before, so being pain-free gives an extra boost.”

After this he put off the idea of going to Allsvenskan in Sweden. Many Swedish players make such a move at the end of their careers, but the Aston Villa defender is not keen.

Asked about the idea, he said, “I don’t think so.”

“I don’t see myself coming home and playing in Allsvenskan. I’ve never played there, so it would be fun, but if I know myself right, I don’t think it’s possible.”

Tottenham now linked with Brazilian – comments raise new doubts over future

wolves This may have been the last time the door was publicly closed on Rodrigo Gomes’ move. However, recent developments in Portugal have made the picture increasingly complex. This is especially true tottenham Now entering the scene.

last summer, report from portugal Wolves are said to view the winger as part of their long-term plans. But since then a lot of water has flowed under the bridge. Wolves are headed for another squad makeover for next season’s Championship campaign.

The fact is that Rodrigo Gomes finished the season with five goals in 27 appearances for Wolves, playing just over 1,100 minutes in all competitions during his first year in English football. This is an interesting output.

in that respect, game Now it is claimed that Spurs are also keeping an eye on the 22-year-old player. Additionally, Rodrigo has avoided giving any guarantees about staying at Molineux following relegation from the Championship.

That combination has instantly changed the mood regarding the player’s future.

The exit is taking shape

Until now, most of the noise was around Rodrigo Gomes Interest from Portuguese clubs. The increased level of attention around Tottenham reflected in the story could lead to a very different market landscape later in the summer.

Speaking about his future, the Portugal U21 international admitted he still hasn’t decided what’s next.

“I still haven’t spoken to my agent. If I stay, I promise to give everything to help Wolves return to the Premier League.” He said.

In Portugal, he “If” This was immediately interpreted as leaving the door open for a possible move.

tottenham link gains weight

The emergence of Tottenham is the latest news here. Indeed Spurs are expected to look for more attacking depth this summer, particularly players who can operate in multiple roles.

Rodrigo Gomes fits that profile quite naturally. He is still only 22, can play wide or deep on the flank, and already has experience in both Portuguese football and the Premier League.

Even despite relegation, Wolves reportedly still strongly believe its long-term potential.

Wolves may soon face pressure

For now, Wolves are still expected to try to hold a strong line. Last year, the club refused to sell Rodrigo Gomes and would only consider an “irresistible” offer. However, demotion always changes the dynamics around a team.

If Premier League clubs start to make more of a push – and with Tottenham’s name now linked to the player making sense here – Wolves could find themselves under increasing pressure before the window closes.

Rodrigo’s own comments have already added uncertainty to the situation, even if he has stopped short of actively pushing for the door.

Spurs are interested in Vicario’s future – the goalkeeper has already been sold on De Zerbi

tottenham Suddenly a real goaltender situation could develop around Anatoly Trubin.

which seemed interesting at first Set of comments from a former Roberto De Zerbi player The move to Portugal has rapidly developed into something more solid, with local reports now placing the Benfica goalkeeper firmly on Spurs’ radar.

portuguese outlet to ball State Tottenham are interested in the 24-year-old as the club begin planning for next season after regaining Premier League status.

The report claims Spurs view Trubin as one of their priority profiles for the position, although any move will likely depend on Guglielmo Vicario leaving first.

Inter Milan reportedly have a personal agreement with the Italian The Portuguese described disappointing performances this season, with Vicario even losing his starting place at the end of the campaign.

This has pushed Tottenham into the market for a long-term solution, and Trubin now appears to be one of the names under consideration.

Why Tottenham might like the profile

According to Portuguese reports, Tottenham value Trubin’s age, ability and technical margin for development.

At 24, he already combines top-level European experience with a profile suited to modern positional football. He arrived at Benfica from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2023 for €10m (£8.4m), plus €1m (£840k) in bonuses, and is now tied to the Portuguese side until 2028.

His release clause is €100 million (£84 million), although Benfica are reportedly open to negotiations under the right circumstances.

The numbers behind their season are also strong.

In Liga Portugal, Trubin scored only 20 goals in 32 matches and kept 13 clean sheets. Benfica allows a goal every 144 minutes he is on net, while the goals he concedes per 90 minutes are only 0.63.

His shot blocking stats are equally impressive. Trubin saved 74 of the 98 shots he faced, giving him a save percentage of 75.51%.

In all competitions, he played 50 matches this season, including 14 Champions League matches.

Nothing suggests a transfer is imminent. However, the overall picture now seems much more real than simple praise between player and coach.

Tottenham are looking at goalkeepers. Trubin wants the Premier League one day. And few players have spoken about De Zerbi with as much enthusiasm as the Benfica man did this week.

ESPN has suggested a farewell to the Red Devils in a few post-season finales. When asked about it he said: “Manchester United is one of the best clubs in the world.”

“The World Cup is going to be important in determining everything. I am ready for whatever comes.”

“This year was not good in every sense, but I learned a lot mentally, I was surrounded by good people and I am trying to take positivity from it. We will see what happens in the World Cup. Whatever happens, I think it will be good.”

Summer exit benefits both parties

Timberwolves face growing uncertainty over future in Minnesota

Anthony Edwards trade rumors continue to circulate as the Minnesota Timberwolves face increasing uncertainty about their long-term direction. Although no trade request has been made and no deal is imminent, speculation regarding the franchise’s future with its young star is beginning to gain league-wide attention.

So, what’s the latest on Edwards’ future with the Timberwolves? This is not good news for Minnesota fans.

What are the Anthony Edwards trade rumors going on?

The Timberwolves fear Edwards could eventually request a trade from Minnesota, as reported by KSTP’s Dan Wolfson on Flegrant Howells. This fear is driven by Minnesota’s roster construction, with suspicions that Edwards knows he can’t truly make the NBA Finals with this current team.

As the Western Conference continues to improve with the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs, the Timberwolves may be forced to make a move. Ultimately, this may be the only way Edwards wants to stay in Minnesota long-term.

Timberwolves face questions about long-term direction

Minnesota has established itself as a contender, but tough roster decisions are coming soon. The Timberwolves have been linked to Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo and could be one of the favorites. If so, Minnesota will have to decide to either build long-term or go “all-in” to maximize their window with Edwards and Antekonpompo.

To keep Edwards in Minnesota, the organization may have to make a massive trade to give him an obvious running back partner. If the Timberwolves can’t land the Bucks star, they may have to shift their attention elsewhere. Either way, the organization will have to decide between maintaining the status quo and moving in a different direction.

Anthony Edwards’ role in Minnesota’s future remains unclear

NBA: Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves, Anthony Edwards

Edwards is the focal point of the Timberwolves, and expectations are rising. After making two consecutive Western Conference Finals appearances, Minnesota will need to provide the 24-year-old star with a team capable of making the NBA Finals. The 2026 NBA Playoffs failed to live up to that standard after being eliminated by the Minnesota Spurs in the semi-finals.

Minnesota would commit to pursuing Edwards; However, it may not be the same for him. If the Timberwolves are unable to make the playoffs deep into the NBA Finals, Edwards may raise his hand. Edwards’ future in Minnesota remains unclear, and with this latest report, his words and actions will be closely watched.

As NBA rivals monitor the situation, speculation about the league grows

There are no indications that Minnesota and Edwards are on the verge of divorce, but the league will keep an eye on the situation. Many NBA teams such as the Miami Heat and New York Knicks are always involved in trade talks for disgruntled players. That won’t change for Edwards.

Miami is looking to make a big move after missing the 2026 NBA Playoffs, and Edwards would be one of its dream goals. Many NBA organizations would love to acquire the 24-year-old star, so there will be speculation whether the Timberwolves will make an impact this offseason. This may also lead to some business enquiries.

What could be next for the Timberwolves and Edwards

The most likely scenario is that Minnesota makes a move to keep Edwards with the organization long-term; However, this will have to come soon. The Timberwolves need to get themselves into the conversation of annual championship contender, and the current roster is not living up to those standards.

If Minnesota fails to put together a team around Edwards, he could request a trade in the coming years. In fact, it could come even sooner if Minnesota falls short due to a lack of moves. Right now, Edwards’ future in Minnesota is up for debate, but it could become a big story if the Timberwolves don’t act fast.

NHL Insider gives big update on Jack Hughes’ future with the New Jersey Devils

Jack Hughes’ future with the New Jersey Devils has been in the headlines recently. With Quinn Hughes approaching NHL free agency, a potential extension with the Minnesota Wild is on the table. However, the Hughes brothers’ futures remain tied to each other, and an NHL insider has provided a big update on the New Jersey forward.

As reported by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman on the Fan Hockey Show, the Devils are not trading Jack Hughes after missing the 2026 Stanley Cup playoffs. This report comes after The Athletic reported that Minnesota general manager Bill Guerin attempted to trade for New Jersey defenseman Luke Hughes at the 2026 NHL trade deadline.

The Wild want to keep Quinn Hughes long-term, so trading for one of his brothers is a great way to do that. However, is reelection more likely in New Jersey or Minnesota?

Why is Quinn Hughes more likely to join Jack Hughes in New Jersey?

NHL: Stanley Cup Playoffs-Colorado Avalanche at Minnesota Wild
Visualize images via Reuters Connect

Jack Hughes is under contract with New Jersey through the 2029–2030 NHL season. Luke Hughes, meanwhile, has a contract that runs until the 2031–32 campaign. So, is it more likely that the two New Jersey players will join Quinn Hughes in Minnesota or vice versa?

Despite what the public says, it is far more likely that Quinn Hughes comes to the Devils than the other way around. With the Wild defenseman entering his contract year, some questions need answers soon. If Quinn Hughes plans to stay with Minnesota, an extension will likely be pursued this summer.

Friedman had previously predicted a three-year contract, in line with Jack Hughes’ contract in New Jersey. Unless Jack Hughes requests a trade, it doesn’t make sense for New Jersey to trade him. After all, if Quinn Hughes wants to play with his brothers, he can sign with the Devils in NHL free agency next year.

It all depends on what Quinn Hughes wants to do moving forward. If a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals is his goal, staying in Minnesota would make the most sense. If playing with his brothers is a bigger desire than signing with New Jersey then that’s the most realistic outcome.

Either way, it’s much easier to imagine the Hughes brothers playing with each other in New Jersey than it is in Minnesota.

Insider provides clarity on future race plans at Dover Motor Speedway

Dover Motor Speedway hosted the NASCAR All-Star Race on Sunday, marking the first time in decades that there was no points race at the iconic track. While the 2027 NASCAR schedule won’t be determined for months, there is early discussion about Dover’s plans for next season.

Sunday night’s episode teardownJordan Bianchi, motorsports reporter for The Athletic, said that Dover would “100 percent” have a Cup Series race next season and that it would most likely be a single-point race.

Read more: Insider reveals potential cost of NASCAR charter

“There’s going to be a race next year at Dover, that’s clear as day. There’s a 100 percent chance there will be a race next year… I would say highly likely it’s a points race.”

Jordan Bianchi on whether there will be a NASCAR Cup Series race at Dover Motor Speedway in 2027

The Monster Mile in Dover, Delaware was one of the biggest losers last year when NASCAR announced its schedule for the 2026 season. With North Wilkesboro getting the points race, another spot was clinched in the exhibition race during the season.

NASCAR officials chose Dover. Due to the nearby Dover Air Force Base, resulting in flight restrictions over the track, the All-Star Race could only be held in the afternoon. While racing fans still showed up in large numbers, drivers and fans alike criticized Sunday’s All-Star Race as feeling too long, with Dover’s track design not matching well with the format of the event.

The good news is that Dover is going to host the points race again in 2027. It’s less clear what changes NASCAR would need to make to make that happen. It has already been announced that the Chicago Street Race will return next year, possibly replacing Chicagoland.

The points race at Dover could mean the All-Star Race will return to North Wilkesboro. Alternatively, NASCAR could hold the All-Star Race at Bowman Gray Stadium, or even run it ahead of the prestigious Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Whatever decision is made, it looks like Dover will get a worthy points race in 2027.

The 20-year-old doubled down on that stance when discussing Porto’s return to the Champions League.

“I love being here and I would love to play in the UEFA Champions League with this badge.” Froholdt said, pointing to the Porto badge. “I am very happy here and I would love to play here next season. Of course I will be at Dragão next season.”

Later in the interview, he was asked again if it was fair to say that his full focus remained on Porto despite transfer rumours.

“It makes me happy to see that people are following me and to know that fans appreciate my work,” he explained. “I focus on the feedback I get from the coaches, the team and what I can do on the pitch.”

“I keep everything else away from where I am now, because I am here playing for FC Porto and I am not focused on anything else.”He said.

A scary release clause

The midfielder laughed, trying to avoid sounding self-deprecating.

“It’s hard to value yourself,” He accepted. “That’s a lot of money.”

Yet, he also admitted that one day he has ambitions beyond Portugal.

“Obviously I have dreams. I love playing here at FC Porto, but I also dream of playing for some of the best clubs in the world.”

However, for now, the message coming from the player has been remarkably calm despite the mounting pressure around him.

Liverpool and Arsenal will be watching closely, Chelsea will still be looming due to the Enzo Fernandez situation, and Newcastle will also remain in the wider picture, but Froholdt is insisting his plan is to stay where he is.

Busch has now won 105 races without a Cup Series victory and is currently 24th in points, behind teammate Austin Dillon and slightly ahead of Erik Jones.

The issues resulted in RCR making another crew chief change for the No. 8 team with Jim Pohlman being replaced by Andy Street. It’s a move that appears to be paying off, with Busch finishing in the top-10 twice in the last three races, and would have made it three consecutive top-10s had he not gotten revenge against John Hunter Nemechek on the final lap at Texas.

Another reason Bush could re-sign with RCR. Hendrick, Joe Gibbs Racing, Team Penske and 23XI Racing don’t want him and clearly don’t see the 41-year-old as an upgrade from what they have. This potentially leaves a return to RCR as the best of Bush’s limited options.

While Richard Childress Racing would obviously like to bring Busch back to the No. 8 car for the 2027 season, they have options. If he decides to leave or his contract demands become too high, there are two names to keep in mind as replacements.

Read more: NASCAR prospects whose stock is rising

The most obvious RCR prospect is Jesse Love. In his age-21 season, Love is already a part-time driver for RCR in the No. 33 car and is poised to win the Xfinity Series this season.

Reigning Xfinity Series champion Love was previously looked at as an option for Legacy Motor Club in 2027 before their search focused on Riley Herbst. One reason for this could be the hope that Love is destined to occupy the number 8 car.

If RCR determines that Love is not quite ready for a full-time seat at the Cup Series level, the team could give Austin Hill a chance. He has proven to be far better racing in the lower levels than in the Cup, but he may be a short-term option until Love takes over.

NHL Insider gives big update on Auston Matthews’ future with the Toronto Maple Leafs

Auston Matthews and his future with the Toronto Maple Leafs could be the biggest story of the 2026 NHL offseason. Matthews wants to see if Toronto can get itself back into a playoff contender before committing to a second season. So, could the 28-year-old superstar really request a trade this summer?

The insider told Overdrive that TSN’s Darren Dreger doesn’t believe there’s any chance Matthews will request a trade unless the Maple Leafs complete a full rebuild. Toronto just got the first pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, and still has playoff pieces on the roster. Therefore, it would not be very wise to do a complete rebuild right now.

However, would it still be best for Matthews to request a trade this offseason?

Should Auston Matthews request a trade from the Toronto Maple Leafs?

Matthews is 28 years old and still one of the biggest superstars in the NHL. Toronto hasn’t gotten very far in the Stanley Cup playoffs with its captain, but it has the potential to do so soon. So, should Matthews remain captain of the Maple Leafs?

Absolutely. Matthews still has William Nylander, Matthew Nease and John Tavares and the No. 1 overall draft pick coming soon. More likely, Gavin McKenna or Ivar Stenberg will join Toronto during the 2026–27 NHL season, giving the organization another future NHL star.

Matthews has plenty of time to win a Stanley Cup in Toronto, and earning the first overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft is an excellent start. Certainly, the Maple Leafs center wants to see more from the organization this summer, but there is already a solid foundation in place for the future.

Other teams, such as the Minnesota Wild or Utah Mammoth, could give Matthews a good chance to win; However, is it really that much better than Toronto? Maple Leafs fans love Matthews and the team will be much better next season.

More than likely, Matthews will be back in Toronto next season and the future is very bright.

Big update on Brady Tkachuk’s future with the Ottawa Senators amid rumors

Brady Tkachuk’s future with the Ottawa Senators is arguably one of the biggest headlines of the 2026 NHL offseason. Tkachuk has two years left on his contract, but the Senators’ struggles in the Stanley Cup playoffs have fueled trade rumors. So, what’s the latest on the 26-year-old’s future in Ottawa?

Tkachuk’s exit meeting with the Senators did not generate “mass panic” or give Ottawa fans any reason to worry about his departure, as reported by Elliotte Freedman on the 32 Thoughts Podcast. Tkachuk publicly expressed his disappointment over trade rumors following the 2025–26 NHL season.

However, what if Tkachuk changes his mind after Ottawa’s offseason moves?

The top landing spots for Brady Tkachuk if he requests a trade this summer

No one has really indicated that Tkachuk will be on his way out of Ottawa this summer. The 26-year-old captain remains committed to the team as rumors regarding his future continue to make headlines. However, if Tkachuk requests a trade which team would be his top landing spot?

The Florida Panthers remain the most obvious landing spot. Brady’s brother Matthew Tkachuk was traded from the Calgary Flames to Florida in 2022. Once he joined the Panthers, Tkachuk took his game to the next level, leading the organization to three consecutive Stanley Cup Finals with two wins.

This is one reason why Tkachuk has been involved in trade rumors. Ottawa is better off than Calgary in 2022; However, many people like to compare the two because they are Canadian teams. There is a public perception among NHL fans that Tkachuk would love to join his brother in Florida.

After all, this is the same situation that Quinn Hughes is navigating right now with the Minnesota Wild. There’s no denying that both brothers Hughes and Tkachuk want to play with each other, but this may not be the right time.

For now, Tkachuk is committed to Ottawa, but if anything changes, Florida could be in first place.

‘Real concern’ over future of Dover Motor Speedway

The NASCAR All-Star Race is being held at Dover Motor Speedway this weekend, with the Monster Mile featuring in a non-points race. Unfortunately for racing fans in Delaware, this may be one of their last opportunities to see the Cup Series at the Monster Mile.

On Sunday’s episode of The Teardown, The Athletic’s motorsports reporter Jordan Bianchi shared that there is a “real concern” around the industry that Dover could lose out as a future host for NASCAR races.

“There’s real concern among people about the future of Dover… They’ve lost a race, they’re now stuck in an All-Star race that no one’s interested in… It’s been moved around, it has no place on the schedule. It’s one of those things that just floats around here, there, wherever.”

The Athletic’s Jordan Bianchi may be out of Dover Motor Speedway NASCAR race due to growing concerns

Read more: NASCAR standings before Dover

Dover was effectively dropped from the NASCAR schedule a few months before the season. Reports first surfaced in August that the Monster Mile was being strongly considered to host an All-Star race, marking the first time since 1968 that Dover did not have a points race.

Instead, the track owned by Speedway Motorsports is now mired in a race that the drivers care less about and the fans have even less interest. Making matters worse, the All-Star Race will be held in the early afternoon (1:00 p.m. ET) because the proximity to Dover Air Force Base means that no lights can be used on the track to support night racing.

To make matters worse, Dover itself is not suitable for the All-Star Race, which is a shorter race and does not include the longer races for which the Monster Mile is designed. As a result, there is less excitement for this year’s non-points race than previous All-Star races.

“Most people don’t think it’s going to be very exciting. Dover is a nice track, but I think we both agree that it’s a track built on long, green-flag races and things like that. It’s not conducive to the All-Star Race format. Yes, there are concerns… I’ve heard it’s iffy (ticket sales). It’s not good, it’s worrisome… If you’re worried about Dover, you’re sitting there thinking, How will Dover get back into the points race?

Jordan Bianchi on uncertainty about NASCAR’s future at Dover

If there is not a strong attendance for the NASCAR All-Star Race this weekend, it will potentially give the league an ‘argument’ to justify not holding the race at Dover in 2027.

This may not necessarily be fair, especially given the history of Dover and the level of appreciation both fans and drivers have for that track. However, the Monster Mile is clearly not a priority track by NASCAR officials and fears about the future of the venue seem justified.

Patrick Bailey trade shakes up Giants’ roster, decides future

The San Francisco Giants made a major change to their roster, trading starting catcher Patrick Bailey to the Cleveland Giants. The move immediately creates space for recently called up Jesus Rodriguez to take over in San Francisco.

As for the guards, it adds depth to a team that already had three starters in David Frye, Austin Hedges and Bo Naylor, but Naylor’s struggles this season kept him off the roster. He was sent to Triple-A in an effort to improve Cleveland’s defensive issues behind the plate.

Is Bailey’s best behind him?

This is a fair question. Backstop, some of the best (if not the best) games though. Best in the game) defensive metrics, has never been a particularly powerful bat. Bailey has a career .224 batting average and has hit only 22 home runs over three seasons in MLB.

However, the thing is. For a catcher, that’s not terrible production. This is about average. For any other offensive player, this is a terrible mark. But catchers in baseball exist in a strange place. As long as their defense and their ability to manage their pitching staff is solid, most teams are willing to attack aggressively.

That being said, it’s always great to have a catcher who can rake. Look at guys like Will Smith, Cal Raley or even former Giants catcher Buster Posey. They are assets to their teams in many ways besides defense, but they are anomalies when it comes to catching groups in MLB.

Underlying metrics hint at potential change

Bailey has struggled at the plate for a long time, but behind the dish he is ahead of everyone else. He has won two gold medals, has a lifetime .992 fielding percentage and is ranked in the 100th percentile via Statcast in framing and pop time (1.86 seconds). He is a key catcher for whichever team he is on.

But can he kill? It is possible. Bailey has had a disappointing start with San Francisco this season. So far, he has put up a .146/.213/.183 slash line. This resulted in a ridiculously poor 16 wRC+ (where 100 is average). But, despite that line, there is hope here. Bailey’s weighting on base average (wOBA) is .190, but his expected weighting (xwOBA) is a more respectable .283 mark.

this is one Big Difference. It’s possible that Cleveland is betting on Bailey’s bat to play out as the underlying metrics suggest. Either way, the club receives an elite backstop to handle its pitching staff.

san francisco building for the future

It’s safe to say that this season hasn’t started as well as it could have for the Giants. In the first year of new manager Tony Vitello’s tenure, the club has a record of 15–23 and are in fifth place in the National League West entering Saturday. It’s hard to see a club as talented as this one struggling so much.

But the recent call-ups of top prospects Bryce Aldridge and Jesus Rodriguez have signaled a change for San Francisco. It seems the group now wants to use this moment to give their young players time to acclimate to MLB. Barring injury or an unexpected trade, they could benefit next season with Aldridge and Rodriguez joining the roster.

Wilkinson’s stint in the minors offers hope

It’s not a perfect reconstruction, but it’s something like that. The trade of Bailey for Matt Wilkinson and a draft pick further adds to this argument. Wilkinson is a very talented young pitcher at the Double-A level in the Minors. So far this season, he has a 1.59 ERA in 28 1/3 innings. That performance could soon get him promoted to the Triple-A level in the Giants’ system.

It’s also possible that, if San Francisco falls even further out of contention, Wilkinson could be called up late in the season to get some big league reps. The possibility of this still remains to be seen, but it is certainly a possibility.

Either way, this is a move that should be encouraging to Giants fans, not the other way around. It’s not like President of Baseball Operations Buster Posey is saying he has already quit the year before, it’s a move that seems prudent. San Francisco is expecting its young players to step up and prove themselves. Only time will tell if that strategy pays off.

Sami Zayn gets honest about WWE’s future, and this should have his ‘ride-or-die’ fans worried

Sammy Zayn isn’t revealing how much time he has left, but the 41-year-old is under no illusions about where he is in his career.

Speaking with Witty Whittier this week, Zayn expressed his gratitude for still being in the position he is in, while admitting that the end of his in-ring run is closer than the beginning.

“I remember being on a European tour several years ago and thinking, ‘I don’t know how many more of these there really are.’ When you’re in it, you feel like it’s going to go on forever,” Zain said. “It’s like when you’re in high school, you feel like those years are going to last forever. But then, when you’re an adult, and you’re 10-15 years out of high school, you’re like, ‘Man, high school was nothing.’ This is a shock in your life.

“So I’ve been fortunate that my time in WWE and this business has been more than a blip. But I realize this time will probably end in the next — I don’t want to put too many years on it, but definitely closer to the end than the beginning. So I’m still very, very grateful to be a part of it. It’s not meaningless to me. It’s not meaningless to me. It’s great.”

Sami Zayn calls WrestleMania 42 ‘weird’

Zayn also reflected on WrestleMania 42, describing the event as a “weird” atmosphere for several reasons. His character was in an unusual place on the show, with fan reactions beginning to turn negative, making his position less defined than it usually was at the time of WrestleMania. He lost the United States Championship to Trick Williams at the event.

Zayn said, “At the time of WrestleMania my character was a little more undefined than it had been in years.” “Normally, I go into Mania, and I know exactly where I am and what I’m doing. This year, it’s like this character shift and this big change going on at the same time with the tricks kind of increasing and I’m getting these – I would say polarizing reactions, but now it’s started to veer in the other direction where I don’t like.

“And I’m like a character saying, ‘What did I do here? Why is this happening?’ And all that kind of stuff. Week-to-week, audience-to-audience are all different, so it felt a little less reassuring,” he said. “Then the atmosphere around WrestleMania this year was a little strange, like the last minute addition of Pat McAfee. There were a lot of things that felt a little strange about this year’s WrestleMania.”

‘Playing for his contract’ – Tottenham player knows future uncertain

tottenham’s A few months ago the decision on Manor Solomon seemed relatively straightforward.

The winger was barely involved in north London, so his loan transfer to Fiorentina in January was significant for everyone involved. Spurs needed him to play regularly again. Meanwhile, Solomon needed to prove that he could still be an effective attacking option at a higher level.

For a while the plan seemed to be working perfectly.

Solomon soon settled in Florence and there was growing confidence that Fiorentina would trigger his purchase option at the end of the season.

However, now the situation has become much more complex. And Spurs are watching closely as they probably don’t see Solomon returning as part of their plans next season.

Plans are changing in Italy

The 26-year-old enters the final weeks of the campaign effectively putting his future on hold with the Italian outlet florence viola Explaining that Fiorentina are no longer completely sure about making the move permanent.

Solomon made a great start in Italy. He brought direct running, creativity and intensity in wide areas, while also helping to cover for Albert Gudmundsson’s inconsistent form. At one point it felt as if he had overtaken the Iceland international in the pecking order.

The Tottenham player contributed with two goals and one assist and looked like a natural fit for Fiorentina’s attack. then came another blow blow.

The shock of injury changed the picture

According to Firenze Viola, Solomon’s Thigh injury against Jagiellonia in February Kept him out for almost two months. However, that absence has changed the mood internally at Fiorentina.

The Italian side is now expected to take a step back before taking a final decision. Part of that depends on who becomes the club’s next manager, while there are also fresh concerns about Solomon’s fitness record after another stop-start campaign.

That uncertainty isn’t ideal for Tottenham either. Mostly because it feels like Spurs will secure a permanent transfer this summer. They would prefer this option rather than re-inducting him into the team.

Fiorentina currently have a purchase option worth around £8.5m (€10m). earlier this year, that seemed like a fair price Gave the influence of Solomon. Now, however, the deal suddenly seems much less certain.

Tottenham probably need to sell

Manor Solomon is reportedly keen to stay at Florence and will use the final matches of the campaign to try to change minds internally. Report says he will do so “Play for his contract”. He is expected to start against Genoa this weekend in what could turn out to be one of the biggest games of his season.

Spurs are expected to revamp parts of their attack this summer, and Solomon currently does not look like someone in De Zerbi’s plans if he is being lined up for a new opportunity.

If Fiorentina moves away from this stream, Tottenham may suddenly need to find another buyer in a market where the club will already be keeping a close eye on his injury history.

Right now, the feeling in Italy is that Solomon’s future in Florence hangs in the balance – and Tottenham probably need to make it happen.

Arizona Cardinals player recruiting future Hall of Famer to join team

Entering the 2026 NFL season, many expect the Arizona Cardinals to be one of the worst teams in football. Not having a defined starting quarterback doesn’t help.

The team’s likely starter Jacoby Brissett recently left minicamp in search of a pay raise. The Cardinals are standing by their position so far, meaning Brissett’s $9.1 million cap hit can remain intact for the final year of his contract, the 2026 season.

The Cardinals also signed Gardner Minshew, who is expected to be Brissett’s backup. However, the Cardinals also added Carson Beck of Miami (FL) in the third round. They also have former undrafted free agent signee Kedon Slovis.

Still, the Cardinals may not be completely satisfied with their QB room. Some people, including players on the team, may still be hoping to see another addition at QB.

Recently, Cardinals wide receiver Kendrick Bourne took to social media to recruit future Hall of Fame QB Aaron Rodgers to Arizona for the upcoming season.

“@AaronRodgers come we are waiting for you.”

Bourne ended the post with eye emojis and a smiley face. Whether it means he is joking is unknown.

Still, it’s not hard to imagine that Bourne was legitimately trying to recruit four-time NFL MVP Rodgers to the Cardinals. The issue is, does Rodgers really want to join a team that is fully prepared for a rebuilding season? Not signing Rodgers could also set the Cardinals up for 2026.

“I don’t know yet” – Tottenham player awaits talks about transfer future

Manor Solomon

Tottenham Hotspur Manor Solomon was loaned to Fiorentina in January. This was his second stint away from the club in the campaign and his future is unknown.

The Israeli winger has already had his ups and downs in Florence.

He was absent for almost a month due to a thigh injury but has already scored two goals for Fiorentina. This played a big role in turning their season around and taking them away from the relegation battle.

The Italian side have the option to buy him permanently and the same is true for Jack Harrison. sports witness It covers how a deal for the Tottenham player looks increasingly likely, with the 26-year-old impressing on a more consistent basis.

Solomon himself has now spoken about his future.

No certainty about transfer

Manor Solomon was involved in Fiorentina’s goalless draw against Sassuolo at the weekend. He spoke to DAZN about his situation, focusing specifically on whether he intends to stay in Florence after the current campaign.

He explained that he is enjoying his stay at Fiorentina but is unsure about a permanent transfer.

Solomon said- via alfredo pedulla: : “I don’t know yet if I’ll stay or not, but I’ve really enjoyed my time here in Florence. I’ve enjoyed both the environment and the people, and I want to give my all until the end of the season.”

In addition to making his appreciation clear, Solomon revealed that there would be talks with LaViola once the season ends.

“At the end of the season, we will talk to the club and decide what to do.”

Our opinion: Tottenham should accept discount

The last few months have shown that Solomon can make an impact at Fiorentina. It would not be a surprise if he contributes more goals before the end of the season, which would further reassure the Florence club.

However, it is very likely that Fabio Paratici’s club will ask for a waiver. Italian clubs usually do this and Fiorentina lack the resources due to stadium construction issues.

Despite Tottenham never making the winger part of their main plans, they signed him for free. Solomon has a buy option in the current deal The €10 million plus rebates on top of that will also be deducted as capital gains for Spurs.

Todd Golden responds to Warriors rumors as Steve Kerr’s future remains uncertain

Florida coach Todd Golden has spoken for the first time since rumors of him possibly replacing Steve Kerr as head coach of the Golden State Warriors.

It’s going to be an interesting offseason for the Warriors. After starting the season as a secret horse in the West, injuries to Jimmy Butler and Stephen Curry completely derailed their hopes of making a splash in the conference this season.

Last week, their season came to a sad end as they were eliminated from playoff contention in the play-in tournament and finished with their second losing record in the last 14 seasons. Change is definitely coming. It’s definitely coming to the roster, but it could also be on the bench since Kerr is no longer under contract.

After their play-in loss, Kerr suggested that he would like to continue working with Curry. However, it is not clear whether that is what he and the organization want. That is why speculation has intensified as to who could be his replacement. One notable name that has come up through rumors is Gators coach Todd Golden.

Todd Golden calms down Golden State Warriors talk

The 40-year-old has emerged as one of the elite coaches in college basketball during his four seasons at Florida. They have been taken to the NCAA Tournament each of the last three seasons, including a championship win last year. However, Golden shut down the recent rumors on Thursday.

“I definitely plan on coaching the Gators,” Golden said when asked about the rumors in his first press conference after the Gators lost in the second round of the tournament.

A recent report suggested that New York Knicks coach Mike Brown – who was Kerr’s former top assistant – and Brooklyn Nets coach Jordi Fernandez would be at the top of the Warriors’ wish list if the legendary coach does not return in 2026-27.

Player heading back to Brentford despite agreement – all future options on the table

Ji-soo Kim is likely to return brentford This summer if 1. FC Kaiserslautern does not gain promotion to the Bundesliga.

football transfer report The 21-year-old centre-back is likely to return to the Bees, but his future beyond that is uncertain.

brentford loan system

The website reports that the loan deal between Brentford and 1. FC Kaiserslautern for Ji-soo Kim includes an obligation for the German side to purchase a centre-back.

However, this obligation is dependent on promotion to the Bundesliga. However, the 2. Bundesliga side has no such option to buy if they are not promoted this season.

Given that they are currently seventh in the table and 15 points behind leaders Schalke after 30 games, promotion is very unlikely to happen. They are also 12 points behind second-placed Paderborn and nine behind third-placed Elversberg.

Thus, the clause for Ji-soo Kim will not be activated and everything ‘points strongly towards a separation’. What happens after that point remains to be seen.

Brentford contract until 2027

Ji-soo Kim’s current deal with Brentford only lasts until 2027. This means a decision has to be made about his future this summer.

If he is not in Brentford’s plans a permanent sale is a possibility. They could also loan him out again, but he would have to sign a new deal at the club before that could happen. The FT speculates that his continuation in Keith Andrews’s team as an option has not yet been ruled out.

All options are reportedly still on the table. What doesn’t seem to be happening is a permanent relocation of 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Their loan provision is only valid if they are promoted, and that will not happen.

So, it appears that the South Korean will be moving back to London this summer. What happens from that point forward has not yet been determined.

Potential CL side circle Southampton manager – Tonya Eckert clarifies future plans

southampton Manager Tonda Eckert’s work at St. Mary’s is attracting interest from other clubs.

The Saints initially signed him as U21 manager in July and promoted him to the first team interim boss in novemberAfter separating from Will Stills.

At the time, Southampton were 21st in the table and had won four out of five matches under the German.

In December, the Championship side appointed him as permanent manager and their results have improved under Eckert.

Since his permanent appointment, Eckert has managed 30 matches, and his record is as follows:

  • Match: 30
  • Win: 19
  • Draw: 7
  • Defeat: 4
  • Goals scored: 57
  • Target allowed: 32

This includes a 2-1 win over Arsenal in the FA Cup quarter-final and Southampton’s clash with Manchester City in the semi-final on Saturday.

Additionally, the English club is now in contention for direct promotion to the Premier League. They are fourth in the table, three points behind second-placed Ipswich Town.

Southampton boss in German club’s shortlist

The German’s work with the Championship side has clearly not gone unnoticed in his country.

is according to imageThose reporting VfB Stuttgart have included Tonda Eckert in their list.

Sebastian Hoeness is now in charge, and his team is fourth in the Bundesliga, two points ahead of fifth-place TSG Hoffenheim and two points behind third-place RB Leipzig. In short, Stuttgart is a strong contender to qualify for the Champions League.

Stuttgart have no intention of parting ways with their manager, who is also on Real Madrid’s radar. Therefore, they are considering candidates to replace Hoeness and the Southampton boss is on their shortlist.

There has been no contact between the 33-year-old and the Bundesliga side so far. Eckert ‘does not intend to look for a new club’ in the summer as he is ‘very comfortable’ at Southampton.

His target is clear as the manager wants to take the Saints back to the Premier League.

Ryan and Ivanilsson talk about the future and life in England with their Bournemouth double-act

of bournemouth The rising Brazilian team is beginning to shape the club’s season, with Ryan and Ivanilsson both giving insight into their rapid progress in the Premier League and their ambitions ahead of the World Cup.

in an interview with espn brazilThe pair reflected on adaptation, form and life under Andoni Ireola, while also touching on the wider impact of their performances – including the attention of rival fans and the Brazil national team establishment.

Fast start and growing confidence

Ryan has wasted little time in making an impact In England. His early contributions helped Bournemouth build momentum and he made it clear how important that start has been for their confidence.

“I’m very happy. It’s not easy to leave Rio and come here. But to get here and get an assist in your first game, then score in your first start in the Premier League, it gives a lot of confidence.” He said.

“The coach has given me a lot of confidence and he always talks to me. Since I arrived, we have been unbeaten, so I am very happy and want to continue that.”

Ivanilsson, now in his second Premier League season, has been instrumental in helping his compatriot settle in.

“I didn’t even know English when I came. I’m still learning,” he explained.

“I was the only Brazilian here, so when I heard Ryan was coming, I messaged him on Instagram. Since his arrival, we’ve been together a lot – lunches, meetings of our families, our wives also get to know each other, and we arrange a lot of things outside the club. I’m doing everything to help him adapt quickly.”

He also pointed to Ryan’s immediate impact on the pitch: “Our team has improved a lot since he arrived.”

Big results and outside attention

Bournemouth’s recent win over Arsenal marked a defining moment. Ivanilson, who Scored against the entire Big-Six this seasonhighlighted the importance of defeating the league leaders away from home.

“We knew how difficult it would be. Arsenal are top of the league, a big club with quality players. Winning there gave us even more confidence.” He said.

That result went unnoticed elsewhere. Ryan revealed that Manchester City fans arrived after the game.

“I got messages on Instagram from City fans thanking me for beating Arsenal,” He said. “They are confident they can turn things around, especially after the 3-0 win over Chelsea the next day, and with a big match coming up.”

Areola effect and World Cup focus

Both players were also keen to praise Ierola, who is set to leave at the end of the season.

Ivanilson said: “He is a great coach. He helped me a lot and gave me confidence. I have learned a lot from him.”

Ryan compared the manager who developed him in Brazil, Fernando DinizThe communication and trust she received was highlighted.

“He talks to me a lot and helps me, especially with the language. He develops players and gives confidence. I can only thank him for these months.” he explained.

Looking ahead, both have their eyes on Brazil selection. Ivanilsson was the first to stress the importance of the club’s performance.

“He has to keep doing his job here. The Premier League is very competitive, and the national team coaches keep a close eye. I’m supporting him.” He said.

Ryan echoed that mentality and detailed the work required both on and off the pitch: “There’s a lot of competition there, a lot of quality attackers. I have to keep working, stay prepared, do what I have to do on the field and off the field as well.” Take care and prepare properly. My chance will come. Being called earlier was a dream. Working with Ancelotti was very important for me.

What does this mean for Bournemouth

Ryan’s early influence and Ivanilsson’s growing leadership underline Bournemouth’s smart use of the Brazilian market. The chemistry between the two is already translating into results.

Moreover, his performance is serving a bigger story. Strong Premier League form is keeping them firmly in the Brazilian conversation, while also attracting attention from across the league.

With Irola still in charge, Bournemouth have a stable platform. The next step will be to maintain this momentum – and ensure that these individual stories continue to deliver collective benefit.

Major update on Warriors future of Curry, Kerr and Green after exiting NBA play-ins

It seems like neither Stephen Curry nor coach Steve Kerr are ready to give up on each other or the Golden State Warriors just yet.

Earlier this week, there was renewed excitement about the Warriors after Curry was in great form during a 126-121 NBA play-in tournament win over the Los Angeles Clippers. Boy, can things change fast in a matter of days.

On Friday night, they head into their second play-in game, this time against the Phoenix Suns, trying to hold off the eighth seed in the West. They finished the first quarter trailing 33–15, had trouble leading the rest of the night and fell behind by a score of 111–97. It capped off a very disappointing 37-45 season that started with no real NBA Finals aspirations.

The loss created immediate speculation about the future of Curry, Kerr and fellow key member of their dynasty, Draymond Green. Curry turned 38 last month and has struggled to compete in half the games this season due to injuries. Kerr is looking battle weary over the past few years and looks like he needs a break. Green is as volatile as ever, but he’s not as effective on the court as he was during his prime.

Stephen Curry and Steve Kerr look set to return in 2026-27

Still, despite the notion that one or two of them might be gone after this season, it seems like they’re not ready to give up on each other just yet. After their loss to the Suns, Curry was optimistic that he would fully heal his troublesome knee and thought he had “many” years left in his career. Furthermore, he claimed that he is ready to sign an extension with the team. One might assume it’s for slightly less money, but with additional guarantee years.

Many felt that Kerr could enjoy his success by taking a break from coaching. But it looks like he’s not going anywhere.

“I don’t want to move away from Steph. I’m definitely not going to go and coach anywhere else in the NBA next year,” he said Friday night. “…I’ll never walk away from Steph.”

The 12-time All-Star has one season and more than $62 million left on his current contract. Kerr is officially a coaching free agent after this season.

Draymond Green hopes he’s done enough to return to the Warriors in 2026-27

So what does this mean for the Greens? He was ejected from the bench in the final minutes of the game for arguing with Suns superstar Devin Booker, and his erratic behavior still has not diminished with age. Well, he hopes he is still with the same team he played for in 2026-27 as well.

“I hope I’ve done enough to still be here,” he said after the loss. “At the end of the day, if I haven’t done enough work, I don’t want to be here. I don’t want this to be a [situation] Where ‘we keep him only for what he has done before’.”

There has been much speculation that the Warriors could try to trade Green this offseason. However, he recently admitted that he is also willing to take a team waiver for an extension in order to stay with the Warriors for a few more seasons.

Player waiting to start direct talks with Newcastle United – future ‘at the mercy of the Magpies’

Odysseus Vlachodimos

newcastle unitedOdysseas Vlachodimos is waiting for developments to decide on his future.

Last summer, the Premier League team let the goalkeeper join Sevilla on loan and he has enjoyed regular minutes.

The Newcastle United player’s performances have convinced the La Liga side to extend his stay.

Last month, Seville Sports director Antonio Cordon said The 31-year-old aims to continue beyond this season.

Earlier this month, Sport Witness Covered claims from Spain Eddie Howe’s side want €10 million, which is considered excessive for the Andalusian club.

What the Newcastle United man wants

Sports stadium Now Antonio Cordon again hints at Odysseus Vlachodimos’ desire to stay. For Sevilla, ‘the circumstances are not ideal’ as there is no purchase option or obligation as part of the loan deal.

Sevilla are happy with the Greece international and are prioritizing extending his stay. His agent has already traveled to Spain to hold talks with the La Liga side, but the stopper will not make a final decision on his future until the end of this season.

Estadio have information from sources close to the operation that the Magpies-owned player is ‘clear about his priorities’.

He wants to find out where the Spanish club will play next season. They will finish the season in 15th place, two points above the relegation zone.

If Sevilla remain in the top tier, he will ‘initiate more direct discussions’ with Newcastle United over a move forward.

The player is now ‘at the mercy’ of the Premier League side, who have to make a decision on his future.

Meanwhile, Sevilla are already considering other options in the market. On Thursday, Sports Witness broadcast news They are considering signing Liverpool youngster Armin Peixi.

Our view: Seville remains complicated

The Andalusian club’s financial situation is unlikely to improve until there is an ownership change.

If this does not happen, the chances of Odysseas Vlachodimos joining them permanently are very slim as Sevilla will not be able to meet Newcastle United’s request.

The only possibility is if the stopper remains adamant that he wants to extend his stay in Spain. If not, it remains a complicated operation for Sevilla despite staying in La Liga.

Islanders captain addresses future ahead of key offseason

Anders Lee spent 14 of his NHL seasons wearing a New York Islanders sweater. This may be about to change soon.

Lee spoke about his future on Islanders breakup day on Wednesday and why his exit interview with GM Matthew Darche was important.

The Islanders captain recently completed a seven-year, $49 million contract, which he signed on July 1, 2019, the first day he was eligible for a contract extension. The Isles’ sixth-round choice in the 2009 NHL Draft is coming off a 19-goal, 42-point season in which he played all 82 games.

Anders Lee wants to re-sign with the Islanders

Lee will turn 36 on July 3, two days after he can become an unrestricted free agent, and he is interested in returning to the Islanders for his 15th NHL season. New York’s captain is the team’s second-longest-tenured player behind fourth-line center Casey Cizikas.

He said before the team’s season finale on Tuesday that he was looking forward to accomplishing the Islanders’ goal of reaching the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 1984.

“I’ve given this organization my all,” Lee said before the Islanders’ game against the Carolina Hurricanes. “This is where I’ve played my entire career. This is where I’ve played the best I can.”

He said Wednesday that he expects he doesn’t get free agency — and he plans to begin his potential talks with Darche during his exit interview.

“I think it’s very important,” Lee said of the conversation with Darche. “We can start figuring things out here and having conversations and seeing where he is at and similarly with me.

“We’re at the point where we can do that now.”

Darche said he had spoken to some members of the Islanders for their exit interviews, but had not done so at the time of their post-season media availability. But he reiterated Lee’s importance.

“I have the utmost respect for Anders Lee,” Darche said. “I told Anders I would love to see him play 1,000 games for the Islanders. What does that look like, and are we able to find something that is a good fit for us and him, we will discuss.”

According to Darche, Lee is just 77 games away from playing 1,000 games in the NHL. Given that he has missed just one game over the last four seasons, Lee is likely to reach that milestone sometime in April 2027.

Still, it remains to be seen if he does the same in an Islanders uniform.

“I know he’s not far away [1,000 games],” Darche said. “I would love to see it, but I’m always waiting to see what other options we have [and] What do we need to do to move this roster forward?

“But the way Anders played this year, I think he can still help us.”

Anders Lee’s teammates call him ‘the savior’

NHL: Columbus Blue Jackets at New York Islanders
brad penner-image images

Lee’s expiring contract will create roster flexibility, and if he returns at a lower salary-cap fee, the Islanders may have a chance to make a financial decision that could ultimately make them better.

But Lee’s teammates also know what the Islanders would lose if he were allowed to leave in free agency.

“He’s been a team captain and leader for most of my career,” defenseman Ryan Pulock said. “He’s been a key guy here, a key part of our success, a leader, a protector for a lot of people here. He’s really done it all, and I’m proud to be his teammate.

“He’s given everything he’s got every night for what he’s done for this franchise, for the Island.”

NHL: New York Islanders at Anaheim Ducks
Kiyoshi Mio-imagen images

Lee’s contributions included more than 308 goals and 549 points in 923 games. Amid a growing trend for captains to shy away from the media, Lee is one of the Islanders players most often speaking after wins and losses.

His teammates also find him approachable and easy to talk to about things going on in their lives.

“He stands up for everybody here, not only on the ice but off the ice,” center Jean-Gabriel Pageau said. “Sometimes when you need to talk to someone, he’s very easy to talk to. That’s why he’s a great captain and leader.”

NHL: Florida Panthers and New York Islanders

So the uncertainty is going to weigh heavily on both players and fans, even if Lee and the Islanders are likely to reach a one- or two-year contract at a low salary-cap number. Despite Darche’s laudatory comments about his captain, the one thing he didn’t say when asked if Lee would return next season was “yes.”

Nor did Lee mention what kind of pay cut/hometown discount he would be willing to sign.

“They’re hard to talk about,” Pulock said. “You don’t know when your contract is up, you never know what can happen.”

Auston Matthews raises concerns over Maple Leafs future with vague comments

Auston Matthews could be the biggest story of the 2026 NHL offseason. After a difficult season for the Toronto Maple Leafs, there are rumors that Matthews may request a trade to a different team. However, what does the Toronto superstar think about his future in the organization?

After the Maple Leafs finished the 2025–26 NHL season, Matthews commented on his future in Toronto. The comments certainly indicate that nothing is guaranteed.

“I can’t predict the future,” Matthews said. “There have to be steps taken. They’re going to hire new leadership in management and things like that. So, I don’t really know. Like I said, I can’t really predict the future.”

Instead of committing to the Maple Leafs, Matthews decided to step down. Toronto has some decisions to make and it could affect the 28-year-old’s future in the organization.

Why Auston Matthews would request a trade from Toronto

auston matthews
brad penner-image images

The speculation with Mathews is not going to end any time soon. After missing the playoffs for the first time in his career, the Maple Leafs star could be traded to a new team if he requests a trade. Currently, Matthews has two years left on his four-year contract with a $13.25 million cap hit. However, what would be the outcome of a potential trade request?

There are questions about Toronto’s future in the NHL. Following the firing of general manager Brad Treliving at the end of the season, there is a void in the Maple Leafs’ management. This has led to questions about the team’s direction and whether it will return to the Stanley Cup playoffs any time soon. If this is a rebuild, Matthews may want out.

Additionally, Toronto has only won two playoff series since Matthews was drafted in 2016. Despite the talent on the roster, the Maple Leafs have not made the Eastern Conference Finals since 2002. It is shocking to see a team with so much talent fail to meet the expectations set around the NHL.

Matthews said he “loves” being captain of the Maple Leafs; However, he did not give a definitive answer on whether Toronto is where he wants to play. It may ultimately depend on the new leadership, their direction and whether Matthews believes he can win a Stanley Cup Final in Toronto.

If not, Matthews could request a trade from the Maple Leafs as early as this summer.

Sergei Bobrovsky’s retirement plans revealed by NHL Insider, Panthers future clarified

Sergei Bobrovsky is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2025–26 NHL season. With the Florida Panthers struggling with injuries, Bobrowski was involved in NHL trade rumors, but he never materialized. However, what’s the latest on the goaltender’s retirement plans and future with the Panthers?

Bobrowski has made it clear he is not retiring from the NHL and wants to stay with the Panthers, as Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reports on the 32 Thoughts Podcast. At 37 years old, it’s fair to question the Florida goaltender’s future in the NHL.

After all, 40-year-old goaltender Jonathan Quick is set to retire from the league after the New York Rangers’ elimination this season.

Why should the Florida Panthers bring back Sergei Bobrovsky?

sergey bobrovsky
Sam Navarro-Imagen Images

Bobrovsky has struggled during the 2025–26 NHL season, posting a career-low .887 save percentage and allowing 3.07 goals per game. The 37-year-old goaltender has allowed 10 goals on 44 shots in his last two games against the Ottawa Senators and Pittsburgh Penguins. Despite his decline in play, Florida should bring Bobrovsky back next season.

While Bobrowski’s stats haven’t been great, the goaltender is on par with the players Florida puts on the ice every night. It’s been a tough season for the Panthers, who have dealt with significant injuries to Alexander Barkov, Matthew Tkachuk, Brad Marchand, Sam Reinhart, Sam Bennett and others.

The 40-year-old has been described as the “backbone” of the Panthers and the “biggest reason” the organization has two Stanley Cup rings. Bobrowski’s Florida teammates are fully behind him. With a better team on the ice during the 2026-27 NHL season, Bobrowski should have better overall statistics.

Backup goalie for Florida Daniil Tarasov has struggled with an .893 save percentage while allowing 3.12 goals per game. The stats aren’t bad for a backup goaltender, but Bobrowski is a proven option who can lead Florida to the Stanley Cup playoffs next year.

Since retirement is not in the picture, the Panthers should bring Bobrovsky back with a new contract this summer.

Steps taken to secure future after De Zerbi reveals transfer targets at Tottenham meeting

Roberto De Zerbi is said to want Manuel Locatelli at Tottenham
Roberto De Zerbi is said to want Manuel Locatelli at Tottenham

Juventus are moving to secure the future of midfielder Manuel Locatelli, with Roberto De Zerbi reportedly tipping him as a target Tottenham Hotspur.

tutomercatoweb Report Locatelli will be the next to sign a new contract with Juventus. CEO Damien Comolli himself has announced that the deal will be signed soon.

“In the next few days we may get some news about a new contract, but not about Vlahovic,” He said.

“I’ve always said we’ll talk about Dusan at the end of the season, and that’s what we’ll talk about. There have been discussions, but don’t expect anything before the end of the season.”

contract till 2030

TMW now reports that Manuel Locatelli will sign a two-year contract extension until 2030. The deal has been agreed with Juventus.

His current contract runs until 2028, but the new agreement will extend it. This will also include the option to extend it till 2031. The Italian club have moved quickly to secure the 28-year-old.

He is a key player under Luciano Spalletti, who has made him the leader of the team. He will greatly appreciate the effort taken to secure his future. The move may have come as a result of increased interest from Tottenham.

De Zerbi wants him at Tottenham

Sport Witness covered a report earlier in the month That said, Roberto De Zerbi has named Manuel Locatelli as a key target for the leadership of Tottenham.

It was reported that De Zerbi had spoken to the Tottenham ownership about transfer targets prior to his arrival. He reportedly put forward Locatelli’s name as someone who could help improve the team in the future.

He has a close relationship with the midfielder, having worked with him at Sassuolo between 2019 and 2021. His performances under De Zerbi earned him a transfer to Juventus in 2023. Now he wants a reunion in London if Tottenham avoid relegation.

But it appears that Juventus have moved to close down this possibility. Locatelli will be in the final two years of his deal this summer. Instead, he will now be held hostage with four years remaining, effectively closing the door on his departure.

Evgeni Malkin Makes Bold Prediction on Alex Ovechkin’s NHL Future

Evgeni Malkin and the Pittsburgh Penguins face Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals on Sunday afternoon. With retirement rumors swirling, this could be Ovechkin’s last home game in Washington. However, does Malkin believe the Washington forward will retire from the NHL after the season ends?

The Penguins forward believes Ovechkin will return for the 2026-27 NHL season, the player told reporters. Malkin said Ovechkin will “definitely be back next year” because he is “still hungry.” As of now, the 40-year-old Washington forward plans to make a decision to retire after the season, but his close friend believes he won’t do that just yet.

Ovechkin is the best goal scorer in NHL history, and he is still performing at a high level. The Capitals star has 32 goals, 31 assists and 63 points in his 21st NHL season. While Ovechkin isn’t performing at a 50-goals-per-season level, he still provides much-needed offensive production for Washington.

Since Ovechkin’s contract expires at the conclusion of the 2025–26 NHL season, he will need to sign a new contract with the Capitals if he is to continue playing in the NHL. The end of this season has long been viewed as a potential retirement point for Ovechkin, as his contract expires.

The 40-year-old forward has previously expressed his desire to retire in Russia and potentially play a final season with Dynamo Moscow. If Ovechkin does retire from the NHL, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him play in Russia this year. However, the Capitals would love to have him back in the organization for another campaign.

After all, Ovechkin’s offensive production is hard to replace. Malkin believes Washington won’t have to worry and that Ovechkin will be back for at least one more season.

Diana Russini’s Inside Future in Jeopardy Due to Mike Vrabel Scandal, Report Reveals

A new report suggests The Athletic probably won’t buy NFL insider Diana Russini’s denial of a possible affair with New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel.

There are a number of nationally little-known NFL insiders who offer frequent reports on rumors and news straight from those who work for the various franchises. Men like Adam Schefter, Albert Breer, Ian Rapoport, and Mike Garafolo have become household names to football-loving fans. There are even fewer women who are star NFL insiders. The Athletic’s Diana Russini is one of them.

However, his credibility was largely questioned this week when the New York Post posted photos of him and Patriots coach Mike Vrabel getting very friendly at a high-priced resort in Arizona. Although it’s not a very good look, if they were single, consenting adults, the world would need to get used to it if they were developing a relationship.

Unfortunately, both are married. So, not surprisingly, these photos went viral and turned into a football scandal. However, both Russini and Vrabel quickly denied speculation of an NFL affair.

“The photos do not represent the group of six people who were hanging out during the day. Like most NFL reporters, reporters interact with sources away from the stadium and other locations,” the insider said in a statement.

Could Diana Russini be snapped up by The Athletic this summer?

Diana Russini
kirby lee-image images

Following this revelation, The Athletic and their parent company, The New York Times, came full circle behind their star insider. Well, that’s not the case now. According to a report from Front Office Sports, the news outlet is now investigating the situation, and she “will not report” to them until the process begins. The report also states that his contract with The Athletic expires in August.

The fact that The Athletic did a complete 180 from support to investigation is very bad news for Russini. Plus, his past comments and rumors of other relationships with individuals inside the league resurfacing don’t help.

After becoming one of the top insiders in the NFL over the years, unless she is completely cleared of any questionable activities by her employer, her credibility in the industry will always be in question. And his brand may be forever damaged in the eyes of fans and football news outlets.

The Celtic player admits future is open – clearly relishing time away from the Bhoys

celtic Defender Mike Nawrocki is not ruling out a return to the club this summer after impressing on loan at Hannover 96.

BILD reports on 25-year-old man todayIncluding his comments about a possible return to Celtic this summer.

His stock has rarely been higher, with the striker becoming a cult hero at Hanover after his derby-winning strike against Braunschweig. This attracted a lot of attention on the streets.

“I’ve been approached about this on the street several times,” he admitted.

“It’s nice that it means a lot to the people here and that I was able to make them happy. But I don’t want to overdo it. The winning goal against Braunschweig doesn’t make me a better player.”

But while Bayern fans are celebrating, it remains to be seen whether he stays in the summer.

Return to Celtic?

The current loan deal between Celtic and Hannover includes an option to purchase for the summer. But it will only be activated if Hannover are promoted to the Bundesliga at the end of this season.

The situation was clarified in a report last monthWhich includes quotes from Bayern 96 managing director Jörg Schmadtke about the future of the Celtic man.

Hanover is currently five points behind fifth-placed Schalke. This means Nawrocki’s future is unclear. And he himself admits that there are many possibilities.

He said, “Staying here, going back to Celtic, or maybe going somewhere completely different: there are many options. It’s not just up to me.”

celtic overhaul is coming

Mike Nawrocki’s future at Celtic Park will likely depend on who the next permanent manager is. Martin O’Neill will step down at the end of the season following his two interim stints this season.

The change is one of several expected at the Scottish giants following disappointment, fan unrest and calls for an overhaul.

This is something Nawrocki is aware of. And he’s choosing to focus on what he can control right now.

“My focus is on the upcoming matches and I am looking forward to them,” he said.

“No one knows what will happen after that. So, there is no point worrying about it now.”

Poland’s dream may move ahead with plans

One thing that could fuel his plans for the summer is his hopes of playing for Poland. Despite appearances at U15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 21 level, he never played for his country.

Playing regularly at club level will undoubtedly help, and he is very much aware of that fact. With Celtic already left to play this season, this is a factor worth considering.

“I played for Poland as a youth, and of course, I dream of one day getting my first call-up to the senior national team. I think I’m on their radar. But my chances will only increase if I play regularly for my club,” he concluded.

The unseen benefits of the Celtic exit

For now, his focus is on the benefits of his existing loan. He has established himself as a regular guy, made himself a cult-hero and enjoyed the benefits.

He believes a move away from Celtic last summer was the right choice to make more than immediate returns.

“During my time in Warsaw and at Celtic, we (his family) saw each other very little,” he admits.

“Now it’s only an hour’s drive, and I go often. My family comes to home games, and often to away games too. I really enjoy it.

“It was important that I was playing regularly again after two years. I love it in Hanover. The city is absolutely beautiful. I felt comfortable in the team from the beginning.” Laughing, he adds: “And the weather is much better than in Scotland.”

Manchester City owners identify ‘potential bets for the future’ – manager hopes player can be the best in the world

Manchester City There could be an option for Boca Juniors’ Tomas Aranda in the near future.

The Premier League team had already considered Boca Juniors signing Julian Alvarez in 2022 and Maximo Peron a year later.

Alvarez left Manchester City permanently for Atletico Madrid in August 2024 and has been the number 1 under Diego Simeone.

Perrone initially joined Como on loan the same month and the Serie A side made his stay permanent the previous summer. Last month, Sports Witness broadcast news Manchester City has a 30% sell-on clause.

Evgeni Malkin’s future with Penguins: New NHL report reveals

Evgeni Malkin’s future with the Pittsburgh Penguins could be one of the biggest stories of the 2026 NHL offseason. Malkin, who has been with the Penguins since the 2006 NHL Draft, is about to become a free agent. However, will the 39-year-old forward return to Pittsburgh?

Based on what he has been told, Josh Yohe of The Athletic believes this is Malkin’s last season with the Penguins. Malkin is no longer a 100-point player; However, he is capable of scoring at least 60 points per season. In fact, Makin has 59 points in 54 games during the 2025-26 season.

Yohe also believes Penguins general manager and president Kyle Dubas will make a major change in the summer of 2026, citing cap space, draft picks and the prospect pool. Still, Evgeni Malkin may not be in those plans for Pittsburgh, even if captain Sidney Crosby wants him to return next season.

The three-time Stanley Cup champions have been a major focal point of the Penguins over the past two decades, but that may be the end of his time in Pittsburgh. Ultimately, Malkin and the organization pushed their contract talks into the offseason, despite planning to discuss it during the Olympic break.

Malkin still wants to play in the NHL, so it doesn’t seem like he will retire from the game. The 39-year-old forward should draw interest from competing teams as he chases another Stanley Cup ring before his career ends. If the Penguins make a deep run in the Stanley Cup playoffs, it could also increase their chances of a return.

For now, the Penguins forward hopes to win another Stanley Cup with Pittsburgh. If not, Malkin could be on a new team during the 2026–27 season.

New report on Gary Bettman’s future as NHL commissioner amid retirement speculation

Gary Bettman became the first commissioner of the NHL in 1992, and he has been an amazing asset to the game. Over the years, Bettman has been criticized by fans for locking out workers, but he has been highly successful in expanding the NHL’s business enterprises. However, could the 73-year-old commissioner be retiring soon?

It appears that Bettman will remain as NHL commissioner for at least the next two seasons, despite speculation from general managers across the league, as Sportsnet’s Nick Kyprios reports. For now, Bateman is focusing on US broadcast rights and expansion into at least two more markets.

Houston, Atlanta, and New Orleans have been mentioned as possible expansion sites in the United States. Meanwhile, NHL fans are continuing to emphasize Quebec as a potential expansion location in Canada. More likely, the NHL will field two new franchises to maintain the best balance.

Once Bettman retires as NHL commissioner, there is already a good option to replace him. According to Kyprios’ report, NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly is a strong contender to become his successor. Some of Bateman’s responsibilities have already been transferred to Daly over the years.

Bettman is the only NHL commissioner in the history of the game, as the league had five presidents prior to 1992. Despite the controversies of three league lockouts, his handling of CTE/concussion lawsuits, the 2021 Chicago Blackhawks scandal, and the unpopularity of playoff formats, he has done a lot for the NHL that far outweighs the negatives.

There will come a time when Bettman will step back from his role as NHL commissioner, but for now, he plans to stick around for at least two more seasons. It will be very interesting to see what he achieves in his final years.

“My future is here” – Aston Villa star not going anywhere: Happy at club and Birmingham

Aston Villa’s Pau Torres says he and his family are happy with life in Birmingham.

Unai Emery’s team took advantage of the ongoing international break and traveled to Spain.

Aston Villa travels to Murcia friendly against elche Last Friday, which ended with a 2-1 defeat to the visiting team.

Spain manager Luis de la Fuente did not include the centre-back in his squad for the March matches. This allowed him to travel with the Villains, who stayed at the Doubletree La Torre by Hilton.

It gave to the Spanish newspaper Mark The opportunity to have an in-depth interview with the 29-year-old after the training. Earlier today, he explained what disappointment is Emery most at Villa Park.

Aston Villa in its long-term plans

At the end of the interview, Marca specifically asked Pau Torres about his future. The newspapers were curious to know whether he would be with the English club.

Responding to that he said: “Yes, I’m doing well. My family is doing well there. The club is doing well and growing. Barring any unexpected circumstances, we are going to play in European competition again next season; we don’t know yet which one.”

“We are achieving good goals, and that’s the idea. To keep playing in the Premier League, to keep playing in Europe. I see myself at Villa at least until the end of my contract.”

Unai Emery’s side are fourth in the table, five and six points ahead of fifth and sixth-placed Liverpool and Chelsea respectively.

This puts them in a good position to qualify for the Champions League next season. The Villans can also book a place in the Europa League this season by winning the Europa League.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers linked to future Hall of Famer

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers missed the playoffs for the first time in five seasons in 2025. Unlike many others, the Buccaneers did not feel that a coaching change was necessary, at least not at the head coach. Now they are replacing parts of the roster to help them get back to the postseason, but the work is not done yet.

recently, athleticSaad Youssef had an idea that could help fix some of Tampa Bay’s problems. He suggests that the Buccaneers sign future Hall of Fame linebacker Bobby Wagner to a contract.

“The Bucs recently said goodbye to a franchise lifer, as linebacker Lavonte David announced his retirement this week after playing his entire 15-year career in Tampa Bay. The Bucs signed Alex Anzalone in free agency, but they can still do more to strengthen the middle of their defense. Tampa Bay drafted David with the No. 58 pick in the second round in 2012. Eleven picks earlier, the Seattle Seahawks selected Wagner, who turned in what was likely a Hall of Fame career, isn’t the player he was in his peak, but has shown he still has some juice in him.

Bobby Wagner/Buccaneers at The Athletic

Still unsigned in free agency after spending the last two seasons with the Commanders, Wagner is now 35 years old. Still, there’s no doubt that the 14-year pro will add value to Tampa Bay’s defense, as their old starting middle linebacker, Lavonte David, retired after a memorable 14-year career.

Wagner, a six-time All-Pro and 10-time Pro Bowler, surprisingly still started all 17 games last season. He recorded an impressive 162 tackles, 4.5 sacks, four pass deflections and two interceptions.

The Buccaneers may feel they have already found David’s replacement after signing Alex Anzalone to a two-year, $17 million contract. Still, one could argue that the Buccaneers needed another middle linebacker even before David’s retirement. In fact, the addition of Wagner will complement Anzalone and the rest of the Buccaneers’ defense.

Bournemouth Network active – Young players sent to work under potential future manager

AFC Bournemouth’s multi-club structure is starting to show more clear signs on the ground, with the activity in Portugal offering a useful glimpse of how the club is aligning players and coaching pathways.

At Moreense FC, two Bournemouth U21 players are currently working with the first team under manager Vasco Botelho da Costa. The pair – forward Jonny Day and centre-back Harold Williams – have been integrated into training during a period where the Portuguese side have struggled with a number of injuries.

That temporary step serves an immediate purpose. Moreirense is lacking in key areas including central defense and attack, and the extra bodies help maintain the intensity of training ahead of his return to league action.

However, the move also reflects something more deliberate.

The network is working in both directions

bournemouth

Bournemouth’s ownership group has already established a clear relationship with Moreirense. That link is now being used in a practical way, giving young players experience of the senior football environment outside England.

At the same time, it places those players directly under the guidance of a coach which is increasingly relevant to Bournemouth’s long-term thinking.

As reported in Portugal to ballTraining arrangements come through a shared structure between the clubs. Yet the broader picture shows that a system is being actively tested rather than simply existing on paper.

For Bournemouth, it provides a controlled environment to develop talent while strengthening internal relationships in their network.

Vasco Botelho remains the key figure

Vasco Botelho da Costa remains at the center of this relationship. As we covered earlierBournemouth reportedly view the Portuguese coach as a possible future option. The hope is that he can enter the frame for this role within a season or two.

His profile explains why. After starting out in Estoril’s youth setup, Botelho stepped into senior management with União de Leiria in 2022/23 and won the third division title. He then guided FC Alverca to promotion to the Primeira Liga in 2024/25.

Now working within Bournemouth’s wider structure at Morensey, he is gaining experience that matches closely with the club’s ecosystem.

What does this mean for Bournemouth

There is no immediate suggestion of change around Andoni Ierola. Nevertheless, Bournemouth’s approach appears to be increasingly structured.

Through their network they are not only developing players but also introducing potential future coaches to their methods and talent pool.

By placing academy players under Botelho’s supervision, Bournemouth creates a two-way evaluation process. The coach works with his players while the club learns more about his methods in a live environment.

This is a small detail in isolation. Still, in the context of his broader plan, it looks like another step toward a clearly delineated future.

Billy Donovan dodges questions about Chicago’s future

When Billy Donovan was asked about the possibility of leaving the Chicago Bulls to coach North Carolina, he expressed complete reservations. According to Tony Jones of The Athletic, Donovan would not deny that he had some interest in coaching the Tar Heels, instead turning his attention to his job with the Bulls.

“My main focus is on these guys and this new team,” Donovan said. “I understand there are things out there, and I understand there will be some speculation. But, I’ve got to focus on this group, and really, my focus is on what we’re doing here in Chicago, having a game tonight, and traveling to play back-to-back.”

The message in these comments suggests that Chicago’s current head coach is still keeping the door open to a move to North Carolina after the season. The Bulls will play their final game on April 12, but he is under contract with Chicago after signing a multi-year deal last offseason. This line of thinking is in line with ClutchPoints’ report that there was some uncertainty over Donovan’s future.

Brett Siegel reported, “This has led to a lot of questions being asked among NBA personnel about Donovan’s long-term future with the Bulls.” “One of which revolves around whether he would really consider going back to college to a prolific program like North Carolina if he was offered the job.”

If Billy Donovan were ever to return to college after his successful stint at Florida from 1996 to 2015, it would likely be for the allure of a program like North Carolina.

When Billy Donovan was asked about the possibility of leaving the Chicago Bulls to coach North Carolina, he expressed complete reservations. NFL Insider predicts George Pickens’ immediate future with the Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys wasted little time this offseason before placing the franchise tag on wide receiver George Pickens, ensuring that the All-Pro wideout could not reach the open market. The focus now turns to how long he’ll stay in Dallas and whether or not he’ll stay this summer.

Regarding this situation, Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated wrote that he believed it was “likely” for Pickens to eventually sign a one-year franchise tender and play the 2026 NFL season as a contract year.

RELATED: Dallas Cowboys make three Max Crosby trade offers

After being acquired by Dallas last offseason, Pickens enjoyed the best season of his career. The 6-foot-3 wide receiver earned second-team All-Pro honors after setting personal bests in receptions (93), receiving yards (1,429) and touchdowns (nine). He had five 100-yard games and scored a touchdown in eight different contests.

Pickens, who turned 25 in early March, played in all 17 games and largely shrugged off concerns about his maturity and consistency. He proved he could produce both as a No. 1 receiver when CeeDee Lamb was sidelined and as a secondary target when his fellow All-Pro wideout was on the field.

Dallas will explore contract negotiations with him this summer, but it could prove complicated. The Jackson Smith-Njigba contract extension ($42.15 million average annual value) and Puka Nakua’s impending extension will push the prices of wide receivers even higher.

While Pickens will likely play on the $27.298 million franchise tag, which is fully guaranteed, there is also hope he could stick around during training camp and this saga could extend into August. He will almost certainly suit up for the Cowboys next season, but there remains a lot of doubt about his long-term future in Dallas.

Billy Donovan’s future in limbo amid directionlessness in Chicago

On Monday evening, the Chicago Bulls picked up one of their most impressive wins of the season by defeating the Houston Rockets at home. The Bulls hit a steady stream of clutch shots in this one, which was enough to offset a big scoring night from Rockets star Kevin Durant.

Still, the Bulls are increasingly likely to miss the playoffs after a disappointing 2025-26 season, and according to a recent report from Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, a divorce between Chicago and head coach Billy Donovan could happen this summer.

Cowley reported, “There is growing momentum around the building that Donovan can step away from the mess and take a season to reevaluate what he wants out of the profession.”

Many have thought Donovan has been on the hot seat for quite some time, with the Bulls having been eliminated in the play-in tournament each of the last three seasons by the Miami Heat, no less.

However, Cowley pointed out that, “While Donovan is the ultimate optimist and is no closer to coaching, six seasons in now with no proven elite talent, he is instead being asked to build a brick house out of straw and clay.”

In fact, the Bulls didn’t have any true star-caliber players on their roster during Donovan’s stay, and though the team now has a glimpse of a direction with Josh Giddy, Matas Buzelis, and potentially another young talent depending on how the draft lottery works out in May, it’s still been a tough effort for Donovan to turn this roster into a competent team.

In any case, the Bulls will next take the field on Wednesday evening against the Philadelphia 76ers.

‘The door is open’ to LeBron James’ LA future after pay cut revelations

During the Lakers’ nine-game winning streak, LeBron has been one of the biggest contributors. After facing questions about his fit with Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, James has emerged as the perfect power forward for the Lakers who can hit shots with efficiency and also make moves on the defensive end.

The change in the Lakers’ play has sparked various discussions about the team and LeBron’s possible return. While many believe LeBron will leave the Lakers in the summer, Ramona Shelburne raised the possibility that James will remain with the Lakers if he takes a significant pay cut.

“I think the idea of playing anywhere for $50 million is probably dead on now. But, if he’s willing to play at a lower price, if it fits with what they’re trying to do, I think that door is open,” Shelburne said on NBA Today.

NBA Today guest host Jorge Sedano said, “Yeah. ‘Cause they have to balance the Austin situation as well. And still be able to fill out the rest of the roster.”

Shelburne said, “Yeah. As it stands right now, it’s almost like he’ll reverse roles with Austin in terms of salary.”

James is averaging 21.1 points per game, 5.8 rebounds per game and 6.8 assists per game on a 51.4% field goal percentage. His all-round play and playmaking ability has been crucial for the Lakers during this win streak and could be vital if the Lakers want to make a deep playoff run.

The Lakers will visit the East-leading Detroit Pistons tonight at 7pm EST.

Travis Kelce’s future in KC gets even bigger after latest move

The Kansas City Chiefs don’t have to worry about their next TE1 in the near future. Travis Kelce is frozen in KC, and the dynasty window is wide open.

For a minute this offseason, it looked like Kelce might hang it up. Retirement talk was real, and Chiefs Kingdom was preparing for life after No. 87. But by mid-March, Kelce stopped all that noise and made it clear he wasn’t done cooking yet.

But turns out, Kelce has more gas in the tank than people expected, and the Chiefs are clearly planning as if their TE1 isn’t going anywhere in the near future.

Kelce isn’t going to stop this any time soon. He has just re-signed with the Chiefs, locking himself in for the next step and keeping TE1 duties firmly in his hands.

After weeks of retirement talks, Kelce called it all off and put pen to paper. The deal starts with a first-year payout of $12 million and incentives, and is structured to keep him among the top earners in the position. grassroots level? Casey didn’t bring it back – he doubled the pressure on his man.

And it makes sense. The Chiefs are coming off a brutal 2025 campaign that turned into a six-game slump, finishing 6-11 and missing the playoffs for the first time in more than a decade. This isn’t exactly how a dynasty likes to run.

Kelce did not want this to be his final chapter. “Definitely I want to come back,” Kelce said. “I definitely don’t want to end my career without getting to the playoffs and having one of my best years. It still feels like I was hungry enough to get back into it.”

He said, “Obviously, there’s still a little bit of that grit and that feeling. I hate the way this thing ended last year. I want to make it right. I want to get another chance at the Super Bowl.”

That’s vintage Kels. Competitive, excited and still chasing rings.

Even in a ‘down year’, the future Hall of Famer posted 76 catches, 851 yards and 5 TDs while earning a nod to the Pro Bowl for the 11th consecutive time. Not bad for a guy who people thought could ride off into the sunset. Instead, Kelce is running it back, and Chiefs Kingdom have secured their biggest weapon for more than just a farewell tour.

Phoenix relies on future potential cornerstones to thwart Raptors

PHOENIX – The Phoenix Suns’ dominant 120-98 win over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday showed the foundation the franchise has for the future with a group of young players.

People like Khaman Malooch, Rasheer Fleming and Ryan Dunn have been at the forefront. While Devin Booker, Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green got the spotlight, the last three left their mark.

Whether it’s Dunn’s growing confidence for the Suns, or Fleming gaining respect in the locker room, or Maluach’s emerging potential, the options seem endless.

During Sunday’s win, Dunn had 12 points and three steals while connecting on five of his eight shots. Meanwhile, Maluach had seven points and seven rebounds in 17 minutes, with a box score of +19.

Considering the numerous injuries and the disappointing performance 24 hours earlier, the youth movement again showed itself. Dunn hopes that’s something that continues beyond the season.

“I love it. Playing with both of them, they give a lot of life and young life,” Dunn said, when asked about the Suns’ rookie season postgame. He’s made a lot of progress since the beginning of the season… Man man, he’s coming in here, full of confidence, talking a lot, shooting, you’ve got size and athleticism.

“I think it’s a little scary, me and him being on the field together, defensively… I hope we can grow through our careers here and get better.”

Khaman Malooch, Ryan Dunn, Rasheer Fleming are cornerstones of the Suns’ future

Maluach’s playing time has gradually increased since the trade deadline. Phoenix dealt Nick Richards and Nigel Hayes-Davies, opening up more space in the front court.

The combination with a sudden injury to Mark Williams provided the final mix for the former Duke center to make an impact. There was no choice whether or not the Suns wanted to play Maluach so soon.

Despite this, despite some growing pains, he stopped short of believing in the ability.

Sunday’s game was a small sample of what a potential front court could look like with Dunn, Fleming and Maluach, which makes the latter intriguing.

When asked about playing with Dunn and Fleming, Maluch explained, “It’s really fun because I see the work they do.” I see how many hours they spend in the gym.

“I’ve seen how much they’ve improved since I first saw them in Summer League. It’s a process for all of us, and we’re really trusting the process and getting better every day.”

Kansas City Chiefs join future Hall of Famer

The Kansas City Chiefs missed the playoffs for the first time since 2014. Other than getting a new return in Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III, the Chiefs haven’t made many significant changes that are expected to drastically alter Kansas City’s fortunes in 2026.

Their biggest boost will come in the form of Patrick Mahomes’ return from a torn ACL at the end of last season. Meanwhile, former first-round pick Justin Fields has come in as a very thin security blanket for now. More Mahomes insurance could come later.

Still, free agency isn’t done, and the latest batch of Chiefs rumors links them to a potential future Hall of Fame guard.

According to leading ESPN insider Nate Taylor, Kansas City is a “likely destination” for former All-Pro defensive end Cameron Jordan. The 36-year-old has spent his entire 15-year career with the Saints, but is now a free agent.

Jordan will turn 37 in July, but he is also coming off a very strong season in which he recorded 10.5 sacks, 47 tackles (15 TFL), two forced fumbles and two pass deflections. He has also been extremely durable and has never played less than 16 games in his entire career.

While Jordan has compiled 132 sacks in his career (tied for 22nd on the NFL’s career sack leaders list), he is still looking for his first Super Bowl victory. Perhaps the Chiefs present the best opportunity for Jordan, as well as the chance to see a tremendous amount of snaps.

Billy Donovan gets brutally honest on Chicago’s future

There are still a few weeks left in the NBA regular season. But it’s safe to assume that the Chicago Bulls are still rebuilding. A series of trades that shook up the franchise during the trade deadline speaks to this.

As a result, the Bulls are stuck with a young roster and uncertainty about who will stay or go. This especially applies to Collin Sexton, Nick Richards, Anfernee Simmons, Jaden Ivey, Leonard Miller and Rob Dillingham.

Additionally, head coach Billy Donovan is as forthright as ever when talking about Chicago’s future. According to Sports Illustrated’s Elias Schuster, this also includes questions about his future with the franchise.

Before the Bulls took on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday, Donovan talked about the future.

“I think we’ll do what we’ve always done – sit out the end of the year,” he said. “We talk about the team every day and obviously the biggest challenge for us has been injuries and things we’ve gone through since the trade deadline. But just trying to get these new people together – playing together – [is] Where all our focus has been. The decisions you’re talking about are decisions that are probably going to be made during the draft, during free agency, those things. So, I think you should look at the team. Certainly, there are people whose contracts are expiring – there are people whose contracts are restricted – so there’s probably a lot of decisions that have to be made, but we haven’t really talked about those decisions at all at this point.

Currently, the Bulls are 28-41 and in 12th place in the Eastern Conference.

With Ja Morant’s uncertain future, why should the Grizzlies take a chance on an unknown player?

As the Memphis Grizzlies navigate more absences than highlights, the same question is being asked in countless ways. What will the future look like if Ja Morant is no longer the answer? Well, Ty Jerome is showing Tuomas Isalo and the front office what a cost-effective solution looks like. While much of the league’s attention has focused on Morant’s availability and trade rumors, Jerome has quietly posted All-Star-caliber numbers.

Jerome is currently the only player averaging over 20 points per game (20.9) at Memphis, surpassing both Jaren Jackson Jr. (19.5) and Morant (19.2) in scoring output this season. It’s a small sample size, admittedly, but the statistical profile shows that Jerome is much more than just a “hot hand” on a weak team. Look at Nikola Jokic’s near triple-double in three quarters against the Denver Nuggets.

The lack of a front court has made it difficult to evaluate this season. However, Isalo knows the Grizzlies have at least one locker room leader for next season.

“Ty has been very strong for us the whole time,” Isalo said. “He’s become one of the premier creators in the entire league, able to create shots for himself and others.”

Jerome leads the Grizzlies in 3-point attempts (6.6) and is shooting better than 40% from beyond the arc, which is the hallmark of a typical modern point guard. Perhaps most impressive is that Jerome Morant is getting to the free-throw line just as often as he is, but maintaining a field goal percentage 8% higher than Morant.

Like Ja, Ty also has a target on his back, given the shorthanded nature of the roster that has been limited to two-way players, 10-day contract signings and 42-year-old Taj Gibson. Yet, Jerome turns the ball over only 1.9 times per game, compared to Morant’s 3.6. His 5.4 assists per game lags Morant’s 8.1, but the raw stats don’t fully capture the circumstances.

“(Jerome) gets the toughest assignments every night…a lot of length on him, a lot of physicality,” Isalo explained. “They try to take the ball out of his hands, but somehow he always finds a way.”

Even under the microscope, Jerome’s statistical profile matches up favorably with the league’s starting guards returning from injury. For example, his production is compared to Dejounte Murray (New Orleans Pelicans). Murray is averaging 19.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.3 assists while shooting 35.1% from three and committing 3.4 turnovers per game. Jerome’s scoring, efficiency and ball security all stand out in that comparison.

The financial implications are equally important. Jerome is under contract for $9.2 million through the 2026-27 season, a fraction of Morant’s $42.4 million cap hit and significantly less than Murray’s $32.8 million salary. In a league where roster flexibility often determines whether teams can pursue contention, the difference in salary cap optionality could prove significant.

That contract disparity is where Jerome’s value becomes truly transformational for the Grizzlies. His cheap deal frees up ample room for frontcourt additions this offseason, giving the front office flexibility that would be lost if the franchise was forced to pay market rate for comparable point guard play. If Morant is traded this summer, the 28-year-old would provide a reliable, affordable bridge rather than a crippling void.

Jerome can also serve as a mentor. A rookie point guard added through the draft would benefit from playing alongside a steady veteran who values efficiency and decision making. With Cedric Coward, Walter Clayton Jr., Cam Spencer, Scottie Pippen Jr. and Jaylen Wells all capable of contributing in ball-handling duties, a Jerome-anchored backcourt could help develop the guy who ultimately assumes the lead guard role long-term.

That stability could be invaluable for a team dealing with uncertainty around one of its biggest stars. Jerome may not have arrived in Memphis with the fanfare of a franchise cornerstone, but his breakout season has quietly given the Grizzlies something every front office desires. All rebuilds have option rules on everything. And with Morant’s future still a big question mark, the Grizzlies may soon have a strong reason to see how far Jerome’s rise can go.
